Not quite the idyllic setting we believed it would be. Most of the rooms are in separate 1 or 2-storey wooden buildings of between 3 and 6 rooms.
Our 'ocean front' room was the ground floor of one of these buildings, approached over an uncut long grassy area constantly used by dog walkers to 'exercise' their dogs! Not very pleasant. It wasn't helped by there being no way to stop 'walkers' looking into our room unless we drew the curtains, and then we had no view!
Being wooden the floors were very uneven, the closet was just a single hanging rail in the room, and the sink area of the bathroom had no door! Although the towels were changed every day the room was not cleaned at all during our stay.
The service in the restaurant was extremely slow. On our first morning we waited over 15 minutes for the server to take our order, and then she came back 15 minutes later to ask us what we had ordered. The food came some 15 minutes after that. On the second morning we gave up waiting after half an hour and left. The third morning we tried ordering in advance, but when I went to collect it, half of the order was missing - we never had breakfast there again.
A similar experience ensued in the evening, and after the second night we always ate out.
Having said that, the pool area was good, quiet and peaceful. We were lucky with the weather, and the pool was heated, so very pleasant.
The area around the hotel is good for walking, with great views over the harbour and surrounding areas.

We had an excellent experience at Bluebird Ocean Point Inn. While the facility was getting ready to close for the season in the coming week, the staff truly made our stay memorable. Especially Jim (manager), Donovan (bar), and Goldberg (front desk). They have seating by the water to watch sunsets and a fire pit to enjoy in the evenings. One nice touch was the smore's kit bucket that was in the room (which we enjoyed by the fire pit - thanks Goldberg for getting the fire going). Jim also made our stay with special with how we were treated and recognized during our short stay. While this was our first visit to the area, we're already talking about planning another trip next year. If you have a chance to stay here - we highly recommend it!

We enjoyed the ocean view and the breakfast was delicious. The only drawback was having to drag our bags up the stairs and for two older women it was a challenge. Next time first floor! Also being at the end of the season they were short on amenities in the room. But I would go back again.

Iconic Maine Getaway

Cannot speak more highly of the idyllic location for Ocean Point Inn. If you want a tranquil and iconic New England getaway, with sunsets over the water, loons in the morning, old New England architecture, and and stunning Maine coastline views, this is your place. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, even though this was the last night of the season. We would love to return.

Parking secure, somewhat difficult to find parking during supper hour. Wonderful room! King bed, porch with rockers was so beautiful and tranquil. Always felt safe, very nice property. Heated outdoor pool, fantastic view of sunsets. Clean room, comfy, staff incredibly attentive.

Right on the ocean. A sitting area on the shore is great for enjoying the view, surf sounds and sea breeze.
We arrived at night and were unprepared for the multi-building facility. The room was rustic but suited the environment and was clean.

Bluebird Ocean Point was a great location for a quiet getaway. Beautiful water views and nice amenities including lots of adirondack chairs and tables from which to take in the sunset, a nice pool, games (pool, cornhole, giant jenga, horseshoes...) and firepits. The staff were fantastic and the restaurant had very good food at moderate prices. The rooms are clean and comfortable and generally in good shape. The downsides were very minor, including a sticky sliding door and a somewhat loud AC. We look forward to coming back again.

Come for dinner and the view but don’t stay here.

This is the second time that I've stayed at this Ocean Point Hotel. I really enjoyed my first stay—which occurred before the hotel changed ownership. The local is wonderful—that hasn’t changed, but the rooms changed from light and airy to dark and gloomy. The furniture in the hotel room I stayed in changed from light and in the spirit of maritime New England, to under lit, with a black ceiling and modern furniture that was uncomfortable and a bit dangerous. The lighting was woefully inadequate—low level lighting via wall sconces at the head of the beds and a single light bulb in the ceiling that was of low wattage. We tried to heat water for tea and the area where the kettle was situated was so dark that we couldn’t see to pour the water and ended up spilling it. The bed platforms extend beyond the mattresses and making it far too easy to bang one’s shins. There was a corner banquette in my room with a pedestal table. Unfortunately , the pedestal wasn’t weighted sufficiently to anchor the table and a slight bump caused my tea to spill. The shower door covers only half the shower—causing much of the water to spill into the bathroom. I won’t stay here again, but I may drive out to the restaurant as the restaurant food is really excellent and the view was superb. The bartender was extremely pleasant and provided great service as we were seated at the bar for dinner.

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful stay! The hotel is situated on a quiet stretch of East Boothbay, about 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor. Hotel has a fantastic restaurant on the property serving delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is a bustling bar, fire pits, lawn games and even s’mores! Hotel offers quaint cottages to rent, has a beautiful pool and free parking! Very happy with our stay!

What I found on unprofessional. They do not answer the phone. You have to leave a message. I called twice neither time they called me back . Also, the parking is just terrible especially check in time. No easy parking for check-in.

This reservation price was supposed to include all fees and taxes but we were charged a resort fee when we got there. For use of the pool and outdoor chairs and I don't know what else. We were there for one night and charged the same amount as other guests staying a week or longer. We did not use any of these things and didn't plan to being there for one night.

Although it wasn't what we were expecting (our fault), we enjoyed our stay for the most part. The bed was comfortable, the housekeeping was excellent, the location on the water was excellent, and the chairs and tables on the shoreline were nicely situated. The pool and pool area were clean, and the staff were very nice.

What we didn't like was that we upgraded our room to a premium room that was to feature a private balcony. When we checked in, the attendant tried to convince us that the room they had for us had a private balcony even though it wasn't private at all. It had semi-walls on either side of the balcony area, but people could walk right in front of us and access the balcony without any trouble. Also the shower was really awful, with extremely low water pressure. Fianlly, the male staff really whipped around on the cart they used on the property--far too fast for the many blind corners and narrow pathways they traveled. Interestingly, the female staff were much more considerate and cautious.

All in all, we enjoyed the stay.

We love this location and had stayed at Ocean Point only once before 4 years ago. The new ownership has done well in carrying on the hospitality and in updating the decor. We were especially pleased with the restaurant’s menu/chef and enjoyed eating there for both breakfast and dinner during our 5-day stay. Our friends met up with us for a few days’ stay while in Maine and found Bluebird Ocean Point very charming, as well. We ended each evening enjoying drinks while sitting in the Adirondack chairs along the waterfront. So peaceful and memorable!

If it wasn’t for the view, I’d give it one star. Perfectly located on the coast with some Adirondacks to sit in to have a cup of coffee or read a book. I’ve already told the property directly they should not have been renting out my room. My room was on the second floor accessible through an outside door, the common area had not been vacuumed in forever, and there was caked in mud and hair likely there all summer. The room was unfinished with spackled unfinished walls, hole in the wall where an outlet used to be, the heat and AC turn on at the same time, and a poorly draining shower- not clogged but the floor is sloped wrong. A king size bed was shoved in the room, with no room to walk around the sides of the bed such that I have bruises on my shins. Multiple old guests Netflix accounts are still logged in? I appreciate it having a hot water kettle in the room. That’s it. I’ll go somewhere else next time

This was our second trip to the Bluebird Ocean Point Inn, and again we were not disappointed. The waterfront location is amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the fire pit at night. The hotel is only 15 minutes from Boothbay Harbor. The rooms are coastal chic with comfortable beds and a small yet usable bathroom. All of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and willing to help out if needed. I am already planning my third trip! Had we stayed anywhere else, I don’t think our vacation would have been as wonderful!

A lot of mold on the bathroom floor from water damage. There were random objects left under the bed, like a dirty hair brush, and a spring and screw that my toddler could have easily put in his mouth. The lock on my door was broken which made me feel very unsafe. The overall communication with dunning staff was disappointing, very rude and unprofessional. Food was always cold and disappointing. Would not recommend.

We had the most wonderful few days stay - I wish it was longer - Our room was great - loved the set-up. Bed was a bit soft but comfortable. Staff was helpful to us - Loved walking the grounds and spending time in the amazing pool.
It's a little out of the way from shopping and restaurants - there is an on site one which was good but pricey.
I would definitely give it a 10 - We stayed in a Deluxe Ocean Front King room bottom floor, could barely hear people above just the creak in the floors.

Location is absolutely gorgeous. My new favorite place in the world. Stay here when visiting trolls at the coastal Maine botanic Garden. A weird thing is that the lock on our door was actually installed backwards so the door couldn’t close properly. We felt safe anyway

What a little gem in Maine! We stayed here in late June with a group of 17 family members and everyone had a great stay. The views from the resort are stunning, the rooms are small but well appointed, the restaurant is great, and the service was top notch! Jimmy was especially great and went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of! If you are looking for a quiet place that screams coastal Maine, this is your place!

We had a wonderful stay! The view from the ocean front room was absolutely gorgeous even when there was nothing but fog to look at. A couple of things I’d like to point out: the mattress was tilted significantly towards the headboard and was quite uncomfortable; there was some mildew or mold on the ceiling in the bathroom; unable to open the windows.

AMAZING-- I wish I could live here. Quiet and clean, beautiful view, comfortable room, convenient bar and restaurant attached. Drinks and food were awesome, but for the first time the service beat out drinks and food!! Mike, Donovan, Jim and everyone else we interacted with were so friendly and made it feel like we were coming home (this review coming from someone who is NOT a people person.) Can't wait to bring my whole family, and definitely plan to stay for more than a few days next time.

Wry overpriced for value. Advertised private balcony, not private. Outside porch chairs covered with pollen and spider webs. Room uncomfortably small. Bathroom so small one could not sit on the toilet except sideways with knees in the doorway. Toilet was moldy. There was hair in the bed. Only one chair for two people. Inadequate room between wall and bed. Bed leg sticks into narrow walkway and caused repeated banging of shins. There is no cable tv. Streaming froze often making it impossible to watch. Called for help with tv to be told yeah, everyone complains about it. On the other hand, the food was good. We deserve a full refund.

Excellent ocean views. Friendly staff, especially the breakfast staff. Continental breakfast is $15. Water from faucet didn’t get warm in morning until you turned on shower. Wi-Fi is very spotty. They charge a daily resort fee, which I assume pays for heated pool and fire pits, neither of which we used.

The location is spectacular with a terrific walk to the point right out the front door. It sits directly on the ocean and you can walk down the pier and swim off the dock. Lobster boats picking up their traps in the morning fog was great.
All that being said my room was very expensive and even more booking through Expedia. When I asked why the receipt they gave me on checkout was $250 less than what I paid booking through Expedia they said that's how Expedia makes money. My receipt was $650, Expedia charged me $907 for 2 nights.
The beds were super comfortable but they obviously just painted over places that really needed to be replaced or repaired. The deck had boards that sunk down when you stepped on them, the bathroom door had the old paint showing through in big blotches, the bathroom fan was incredibly noisy.

We loved one night at Bluebird Ocean Point in the Snug Harbour Cabin. This property is in front of a community dock, which has a dock. This is Quintessential Maine. BBOP Inn has Adirondack chairs, corn hole, and firepits.
