Very beautiful hotel, staff are very kind and accommodating. The food is absolutely delicious. It should be noted, however, that from Aswan airport to the property will run you 900-950 EGP as of April 2026. The property is located at the top of a mountain and is very difficult to get to, and taxi drivers/hotel shuttle take advantage of this. It was not a nice surprise after getting off the plane and trying to find a taxi for over an hour.

Hotel is very nice, but I would recommend they fix the showers to not leak so much water. There are also quite a number of birds which make the balconies dirty, which is unavoidable unfortunately.

Overall, if this is what you are looking for, considering the isolated area, beautiful scenery, and price, it was a nice experience.

First the bad. It's remote. Arrange your transportation with the hotel/tour service ahead of time. If you find yourself stuck, a tuk tuk ride to/from the paved road is 150-200 pounds.

Now the good, YOU WILL LOVE this place. Food is excellent, vibe is chill. Wife and I could spend a week there and never leave.

We had a great experience overall. The property is very nice and clean, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the views of the Nile are beautiful. The staff were outstanding, the food was excellent, and breakfast was truly a feast. They also helped us arrange a private driver for our daily excursions. We will definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Kato Dool Wellness Resort! The staff were very kind and accommodating — they even allowed us to check out late because our flight was delayed, which we truly appreciated.
The view from the top of the mountain is absolutely amazing, especially at sunrise overlooking the Nile river. Since the resort is located uphill, we had to take a tuktuk to go up and down to the village. The ride can be a bit bumpy and dusty, which some people might not enjoy, but it didn’t bother us at all and added a touch of adventure to the experience.
Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable stay.

This hotel is heaven on earth! The staff is wonderful. The location has an amazing view. If you are looking gor an escape from crazy, busy tourist sites, this is it. Beautiful pool, gorgeous rooms, fantastic executive chef and staff. Everyone was so nice. Miss them all already. Kudos to all!

Yes, like others have said, it's far from things. But honestly, not that far. The TukTuk ride up and down is very bumpy and shaky. I found it fun but others with health or physical issues will not manage well on them. I would suggest that the hotel get a van when they can budget for one.

This spot is lovely, staff are friendly & food is tasty. However, we would not stay again until they improve some of their issues. These include: 1. Communication: it was difficult to get responses before we arrived. Emails about excursions were not returned. The only time I got a response was in the WhatsApp chat although I had to send reminders so they would get back to me. Indeed, I sent through this feedback after our stay & never heard back. 2. No Wi-Fi connection: This was especially challenging because they only have a digital food menu that requires wifi to view it. 3. Timeliness in the restaurant: while the food was delicious once it arrived, it took far too long. We were told to be at the restaurant for dinner at 20:00. We arrived on time but we still hadn’t even received our drinks by 21:30. We waited 95 minutes for drinks and dinner and then we waited another 35 minutes for dessert. Most items on the menu were not available. 4. Bathroom facilities in our room: our bathroom flooded every time we used the shower so we had standing water on the floor the entire stay, which meant we had to walk through puddles of dirty water to use the sink or toilet. 5. The driver the hotel uses spent most of the time in the car distracted with phone calls & text messaging while driving. It felt unsafe. He also lectured us on the harms of alcohol when we asked him to stop somewhere so we (3 middle-aged adults) could purchase some beer to drink after a long, hot day.

Beatiful and aesthetic location. Great view of the river Nile and city of Aswan. The staff is super freiendly and helpful. Wonderful experience. Great location to take instagrammable pictures and videos.

Only pain point - there was no WiFi, as their internet reception was being affected by wind. Need to invest in better infrastructure for connectivity services.

But everything else was wonderful.

Property property design is amazing and the view is breathtaking. The only two concerns is it’s far away from downtown Aswan plus the roads to get to the hotel are in a very bad shape and taxi refuses to go there. Dogs in the area are very noisy and bark a lot. If it’s your first time in Aswan, I would recommend you staying in downtown.

Its a lovely & colorful property, managed by some great people. Its located a bit far from the village below, but the ride to the property is worth it once you arrive and see the place. Lovely views of the Nile there. Also if you walk up at sunset, you get lovely views of it in d sand dunes.

Kato Dool is beautiful place to stay in the Nubian village of Aswan. It is peaceful with a gorgeous view of the Nile Cataract/Desert and has well designed rooms in colorful Nubian style. The staff is very friendly and effective at what they do. The only consideration (good and bad, both) is that it is cut-off from everything else with a dusty and bumpy road (as of our visit) of over 10mins. from the busy parts of the Nubian village. For those who are not driving, like us, the hotel provides a tuk tuk transportation to and from from the main village. However, for the price of the rooms in the hotel, I hope the management provides a covered geep for this purpose as the tuk tuk is fun only once or twice. Overall, it is highly recommended for the views and authentic experience of staying in Nubian village with good amenities, especially if one is driving.

Property is nice, very traditional as the Nubian Community.
Staff very respectful and kind.
The property is remote in the middle of nowhere, far away from the city center or any other places, no vehicles can access it, from the transportation left you to the hotel you are jumping in a tuk-tuk for about 15-20 mins through a bad isolate, dark and full of hole road, after 9 pm you have to pay for that service as well.
The service staff in the restaurant and facility are slow taking 30 mins from order the breakfast to service on the table (simple breakfast) a cappuccino with and omelet.
The wifi is not available in all the rooms as listed in expedia, only accessible in the lobby and restaurant.

The place might be a bit in the middle of nowhere, but it is an absolute jewel. Incredibly well decorated, it is like no other hotel I have been.
The staff was lovely and very accommodating, we arrived late because of a plane delay and they arranged a lovely meal for use despite the fact that the kitchen was closed.
The beds were very comfortable.

My biggest regret of our Egypt trip is that we only stayed here for one night! Kato Dool is everything and more that you see in the photos. The hotel is absolutely stunning, the service is impeccable, the breakfast and other meals were all absolutely delicious, and I don’t know how they managed to keep the pool cool in heat of the summer, but they did, and it was so refreshing! The hotel is situated on the West Bank, the quieter side and away from the city. Do note that it is quite a ride to get there, up a dirt road/hill and you have to get there by tuk-tuk (provided by the hotel), but it is absolutely worth it and the desert views along the way are beautiful. Don’t hesitate for even a moment - you must stay here while in Aswan, and make sure you book yourself an extra night to have a day to just relax by the pool and enjoy the views over the Nile!

The property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are decorated very lovely. Our room view overlooking the Nile was magnificent. The hotel is quite a distance away from the Nubian city. The ride to the hotel is unpleasant. However, when you reach the hotel, it is with it. The spa services were not available during our stay that would have been nice to have. The power went out several times and it was very hot and uncomfortable. The staff were very accommodating and kind.

I love this property. It was authentic to the Nubian people who are from Aswan. The staff was accomadating and helpful. Food was delicious. Breakfast was more like a feast. Authentic Egyptian breakfast. Better to have the hotel send transportation from the airport. It is difficult to find as it is really off the beaten path. Sat and watched the sun rise from my room. Beautiful.

Not only is it a beautiful location in the water, but the resort is brand new and everything is sparkling clean and perfect. Staff were so nice and made everything so easy for us. This is a lovely and unique property. The hotel itself is a piece of art. The staff is kind and welcoming. The view from there is absolutely amazing! But it’s a hard to find place. There are no signs or paved roads to get to the hotel and as this is a new property most of the people on the village don’t know where it is. But once you get there, it’s worth the challenge to find it!

Oasis in the middle of nowhere

The property is situated on the side of the cliff across the river with breathtaking views of the city and Nubian villages. However be aware the drive to the property is super challenging. You’ll need an additionally 25-30mins on treacherous rocky terrain conditions through a rural Nubian village before reaching the desert road to the property. Once you arrive, all your tension dissipates. Service, food and view is excellent.

My father and I very much enjoyed our stay at Kato Dool. The staff is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere/architecture is beautiful, the views are unbeatable and the food is out of this world. This is an excellent hotel run by true professionals.

That said, I think it should be made clear on the listing that the terrain surrounding the hotel is very rugged and the transportation provided by the facility to attractions is not for everyone. I personally didn’t mind the tuktuk, but it was hard on my 77 year old father.

Overall, however, I rate this hotel very highly and would definitely come back. I give it my highest recommendation and want to thank the staff for their hospitality.

This guest house was beautiful in decoration, and the people and food were excellent.
The pool we gross! It was green and foggy and had plastic bits floating in it. Very disappointing….we had looked forward to a swim after a busy day of touring.
There was no alcohol on the property! And there was no mention of this on the website. Also very isolated!

Absolutely spectacular and highly recommended!

I can sincerely tell you that the Kato Dool Wellness Resort was, by a wide margin, the best lodging experience we had in Egypt (and we stayed at lauded 5-star properties in other cities). I mean this sincerely. If you are an older person, have some limitations on your mobility, or are opposed to a little rustic flair, this may not be the place for you; however if you are an adaptable adventure-seeker I feel there is no other place you should stay in Aswan.

Highlights:
* The crazed (in a good way) complimentary tuk-tuk ride to the resort.
* The thoughtful, attentive, well-spoken staff.
* The buildings all painted in the characteristic Nubian style and seemingly brought to life from a cartoon where magical forces help plucky kids overcome evil.
* The breathtaking desert view after taking the stairs down to swim the Nile from the beach.
* That pool. (That pool!)
* A memorably delicious dinner better than it had any right to be.
* The sun rising over the river the next morning.
* The possibly excessive breakfast boxes carefully packed for when we had to leave early in the AM.

We were the sole guests the night we stayed. Take advantage now because I predict this place will mobbed in short order. It’s *that* good — the best night of our trip.

Fabulous bird's eye view of Aswan. The hotel is brand spanking new. Rooms spacious and decorated in Nubian style. Also the best beach for swimming is very close by. It's a bit of a schlep to get up to the place as it's perched on top of a hill but the drive up is magnificent. A different kind of experience that will liven up your trip

This is a diamond in the rough!!!
A gorgeous hotel, with detail hand painting and wood work everywhere! ...everything was Hand made!!
And they have a commanding view of the entire city of Aswan and the Nile river!!
With rooms facing East, to watch a Glorious Sun rise, breathtaking! We wisher we could have stayed longer
They are just opening the resort, so they need to work out few kinks...pool was being repaired, etc.
But the food and service was first Class
The only down side is that they are far from the Airport, on a hill on top of the Nubian Village...and cabs get lost or they take you to the wrong hotel...as it happened to us
Best is to take the Limo service offered by the hotel

Very friendly and accommodating staff as we have special dietary requirements which were catered for enthusiastically without any complaints. Friendly, warm and welcoming with beautiful facilities, exquisite scenery and entertainment night with local musicians created a memorable experience. The natural eco friendly hotel makes for a very relaxing, grounding and rejuvenating stay which is highly recommended. If you’re also looking for a bit more privacy that’s away from the main city and still not too far to get to in a decent amount of time when needed, this is a good choice.

The Nubian Food is incredible and the resort architecture and rooms are amazing at this special resort ! It is a must when you visit Aswan. The staff has amazing hospitality and customer service. Youssef was very friendly and amazing service helping with anything we needed. Saad made amazing drinks and amazing service and helped with anything we needed. Traditional Nubian hotel with breathtaking views

The views from this hotel are amazing as it’s on a hill above Aswan and the “Nubian village”. The hotel is built in traditional Nubian style, it’s very pretty. The rooms are all facing the river Nile snd have balconies. Breakfast is very generous and the hotel restaurant had excellent local food (but we had to order it in advance). The fish tagine and the milk rice pudding were delicious.
The only negative point is that the hotel is a ten minute drive from the road - but as a bonus you get the views and the quiet environment.

Mega Lage, tolle Aussicht, sehr zu empfehlen

Das Hotel ist wirklich toll und abgelegen im nubischen Stil gestaltet, mit einem grandiosen Blick über den Nil auf die Stadt. Der Weg zum Hotel ist etwas holprig und teils durch die Wüste.

Der einzige Mangel im Winter ist, dass es nicht super warm im Zimmer wird.

Der Service ist sehr gut und auch das Frühstück war lecker! Alle Fahrten können beim Concierge gebucht werden. Es ist nicht teuer. Es empfiehlt sich auch das nubischen Dorf gleich unten am Fluss zu besuchen. Das Hotel organisiert kostenlose Tuk Tuks.

An einigen Abenden gibt es Events im Hotel. Sehr nett gemacht! Gerne wieder und zu empfehlen.

Un magnifique hôtel nubien perché sur une dune, entre Nil et désert.
Plutôt isolé, l'hôtel est accessible par touk-touk depuis le village.
L'hôtel a géré pour nous certains transferts ou déplacements sur des sites que nous souhaitions visiter, sans toutefois être précis sur tous les détails, ce qui nous a valu certaines déconvenues. Au final, ces services représentent un coût non négligeable, qu'il est possible de réduire en se débrouillant par ses propres moyens.
Le personnel est cependant très attentif, serviable et très gentil. Les repas sont copieux et délicieux!
