Sat on the bank of the Nile this lovely little hotel was perfectly situated for easy access across the city. Staff couldn’t have been more polite or helpful and the taxis ordered for us were well-priced and considerate. Food was good, and alcoholic drinks plentiful. We had such a good few days here. Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. We were upgraded from a standard room with a garden view to a suite with a patio overlooking the Nile, which was a lovely, newly-renovated room with a stunning view. Very clean, air conditioning worked great, black-out shades. Breakfast buffet was solid and had a lot of different options (e.g., omelet station, yogurt bar, fruit, some hot Egyptian dishes, rolls and pastries, meats/cheeses, pancakes, etc.). Dinner was a la cart and was delicious. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, especially the restaurant staff. The car transportation to/from Aswan airport was a bit expensive relative to normal transportation prices in this area at $35, but the driver was great and on-time. I'm not sure how the garden rooms are at this property, but I was very happy with my stay!

I can not recommend this hotel. We stayed for 1 night after our Nile cruise before we went back to Luxor. The rooms were in bad repair with peeling walls and bathroom repairs needed. It looked nothing like the picture from booking. Some of the staff were very friendly and deserve credit but several staff members were unfriendly and almost rude, as though we were burdening them by being there. The location is good if you prefer to stay on the mainland, but I would not stay here for an extended period.

The hotel is centrally located near the souk and on the Nile. The pool area is very relaxing and scenic. The breakfast is great with a huge variety of options. The restaurant food was good but not memorable.
The best part of the hotel is the staff. They go above and beyond and are genuinely friendly and helpful. Mohamed and Tareq were our waiters and were excellent. We’ll remember this hotel because of them.
The only negative is the room. It’s a bit dated.
Overall very happy with this hotel.

**Beware of Theft**
During our stay at Obelisk Nile Hotel, Aswan (11–13 March 2026), the door lock to our room suddenly stopped working on the late afternoon/evening of 12 March, the night before checkout, despite functioning normally just two hours earlier. The hotel provided a master key, but the issue was never properly resolved.

After checkout on 13 March, we discovered that a pair of prescription sunglasses was missing from our suitcase. We immediately contacted the hotel and requested an incident report for insurance purposes. The hotel reviewed CCTV footage and claimed I was seen wearing sunglasses when leaving the premises. However, I clearly explained that the glasses in the footage were my everyday transition lenses, which darken under UV light, and are not the missing sunglasses.

Despite this clarification, the hotel refused to acknowledge the issue and eventually stopped responding altogether. We also formally requested that CCTV footage covering our room and the corridor during our stay be preserved and provided for police and insurance purposes, but received no response. We are concerned that the lock malfunction may be related to this incident.

This experience was extremely disappointing. I would not feel comfortable staying at a hotel that fails to properly address serious incidents and protect guests’ belongings.

It's a typical mid level hotel, price appropriate condition. Rooms feel cramped, air conditioning is in your face, water can be too hot, etc. What made me give it a low ranking was the customer experience. There was no hot water in the morning the day we were leaving for Abu Simbel tour. The attitude of the staff was callous and they could care less. We had to give without shower. The hotel didn't have the courtesy of making any amends for this type of experience - just didn't care. Not much positive to say. The restaurant at the hotel was quite mediocre as well. Overall, a somewhat below average property but with absolute lack of customer focus. Avoid it if you can

This hotel has it all together, which is rare. The rooms are clean and in good shape and the Nile views are lovely. The gardens look great too. The breakfast is very complete. And the staff are very professional. I have seen a couple of criticisms pop up about this hotel that I would like to respond to:

1) some people think the hotel needs a little refreshing. I did not find this the case. The style might not always be contemporary but everything is clean and in excellent condition.

2). The noise. The road nearby is bustling all night long, like a lot of Egypt. In my Nile-view room, I never had a problem with noise. But the garden view rooms are closer to the street, so perhaps that is where this problem arises from. But I recommend booking the Nile view room!

They definently need maintenance and better cleaning staff. we found bunch of hair in the beds and rooms along with bathrooms were very dirthy

The good reviews are fake, the room was dirty, the bathroom smelled disgusting and the shower didn’t work. At breakfast the cutlery was dirty and everything around the buffet was messy. There were spilled drinks, food contaminated and nobody did anything to fix it. Staff were friendly but overall a bad experience.

We did not need airport shuttle. We used private transfer from Luxor to Aswan. Humbling experience during the stay. People were so amazing, our laundry was done for the next day, super affordable. The staff was incredible, we celebrated our anniversary during the trip. The hotel gave us a cake which we shared with the staff. The sunset boat ride was expectacular. For sure the beat hotel we stayed in Egypt

We booked two Nile view rooms and were given one that had an obstructed view. The manager moved us to a new room that had a Nile view after we complained. The bed pillows were not comfortable at all. Overall though, it was a good stay.

I absolutely loved my stay here. It’s on the banks of the Nile River and my room had a beautiful balcony right in the water edge. The big windows made the view from my bed a 10. The property also has a free boat ride at 6:30. The breakfast was amazing and all the staff were first class. Very kind, helpful and hardworking. I enjoyed my one night here but wish it would have been more. Refugio from Washington State.

Loved this hotel in Aswan. We had rooms on the Nile. It does not get better than that. The layout of the hotel is very relaxing. The restaurant served good food right next to the Nile with spectacular views of Elephant Island and the boats. The staff were friendly and helpful. laundry service was amazing and so cheap. The only issue to note is that the elevator is very temperamental. great ATM in hotel.

The hotel was a good value. The nightly price is very reasonable for Aswan. The rooms were clean and nice, there is a nice pool and room service and other amenities. It is not, however, a luxury hotel and there are areas that really should be upgraded. The room safe is a very old model -- it is not digital and it is very small (does not fit a laptop). Also, the shower heads need to be upgraded -- they are old. The room is kind of rustic -- on the first floor, cottage style (not high rise). There are many stairs -- I believe there is an elevator but I didn't see it-- if stairs are an issue for you, you should ask about it. The breakfast buffet was not good at all. One day I got breakfast to-go, and it was mostly filled with bread and pastries. The food could use improvement. Also, while service at the front desk was friendly and available, it was sometimes hard to get them to do what I was asking -- like help with a taxi, airport transfers, and making change to get small bills. Overall, it was good for what I paid, but some things should be improved.

This hotel claims to be 4 stars, but it feels more like 3. The suite overlooking the Nile was comfortable and relaxing — definitely the highlight of my stay.

However, service fell short. The front desk staff were not very friendly, and the concierge quoted high tour prices, then tried to bargain, which felt unprofessional.

At breakfast, I had to clear my own table and find silverware. The common areas also need an update. With better service and a refresh, this could be a true 4-star hotel. For now, it’s a nice stay with a great view — but manage your expectations.

Location directly by the Nile is fantastic. The rooms are rather minimal equipped and and are nott too comfortable. We booked a queen bed but had to single ones that they moved together.

The service is very nice there, personell friendly. Unfortunately the bar was rather empty at night. They have very good local wine there.

This hotel has an excellent location on the Nile, pretty landscaping, and a nice pool and dining overlooking the Nile River along with a good Italian restaurant. That said, the rooms get a lot of noise from next door with loud music and some sewer smell, and bathrooms flood easily. A more helpful staff, better towels, and a few quick fixes would make this a better hotel.

We booked the property for the 1-bedroom suite with the Nile view. We were going to be in Aswan during the high, high season between Christmas and New Year. I normally usually stay in chain hotels (for example we stayed at the Hilton in Luxor) because I want a consistent and reliable product. But during high season, the price for Aswan’s Old Cataract hotel was an eye-watering $1200/night and Mövenpick in Elephantine island was $600/night which was more than I wanted to pay so I had to consider other options and decided to book Nile Obelisk’s 1-bedroom suite with Nile view. It turned out to be the best decision. Well-priced and arguably the best room in the Easy Bank.

The room is renovated and very well-appointed. The Nile views overlooking Elephantine island are gorgeous. I booked this hotel not having high expectations but it was a sleeper hit. If you can pay a little more for the 1-bedroom suite with a balcony and Nile views (limited availability), you won’t regret it.

This is the best hotel in the town especially when you take the premium suite with balcony over looking the Movenpick hotel. Sunrise or night lights you cannot get this view from any other hotels. The room is on the Nile River. Everyone here is super nice. This property is clean and the stuff tries their best to keep you happy.

Now the cons. The “guest relationship” lady is straight aweful. Over the phone or email communication does not exists. I emailed them couple of times for airport shuttle service but nothing. Foods were decent compare to Egypt standard but one time we did found hair.

Given the fact that there are very limited choice of main stream clean hotels in Aswan, this hotel falls somewhere in the middle. On one end you have high class hotel like Sofitel, on the other hand there are numerous \"hotels\" in unmarked street near a rubbish dump.Within that context, Obelisk was very clean, convenient, next to the corniche and staff, particularly Ahmed Khadari were very polite and courteous. Whether, it was worth £80 per night is a different issue. Breakfast was non descriptive. Rooms were adequate and came with some cheap toiletries such as shampoo, gel....

Only real downside was some ongoing building work, I think renovating some areas. Some of the paving slabs are being replaced, and there was some noise from cutting tools late at night. Would be good to have a more secure luggage store as well - left bags were just left in reception.

Excellent stay, and very well looked after. We were sceptical having read some reviews, but in comparison to similar stays across the country it is in line with expectations.

While the furniture in the bedroom was slightly dated, it was spotless, comfy bed, and excellent shower. Air con was great.

Pool area was wonderful, especially after a long day. There were some bugs but this is normal considering it is next to the Nile. Didn't put us off getting in during the 45 degree heat!

Breakfast was okay, but similar to other stays at the price bracket, it lacked fresh options. Lots of processed cheese and meats and some pastries. Drinks were great, main highlight was the ability to fill up our own water bottle! They also provided a breakfast bag when we went to Abu Simbel.

Honestly a great stay, and we struggle to see another hotel with the same appeal and right on the Nile. We'll be back!

One could hardly get closer to the Nile! Superb vantage point!
Apartments each have private entrance patio facing the Nile. Lovely, gracious staff greet and serve kindly. Improvements to make: clearer signage around this maze of ramps, apartments and dining rooms. In summary: a great place!

Excellent stay - for this price range.

Excellent stay, and very well looked after. We were sceptical having read some reviews, but in comparison to similar stays across the country it is in line with expectations.

While the furniture in the bedroom was slightly dated, it was spotless, comfy bed, and excellent shower. Air con was great.
