Good one night stay in Charleroi

Hotel is well situated next to a shopping centre in the best part of Charleroi. Comfortable hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. Good sized room - only drawback being that bathroom facilities are in bedroom (basin is open-plan & would have preferred more privacy). We enjoyed a nice meal in the restaurant and breakfast was plentiful.

Hotel was good, the only problem was that the postal address on the automated correspondence was an underground car park without pedestrian access. Trying to arrive on foot from the railway station proved to be difficult and confusing!

Good hotel, bad city

The hotel was excellent, in the city center. What was not so excellent, is that our car was broken into and stolen from shortly after our arrival at Charleroi, even though it was in the Q-Park (not affiliated with Novotel).
We had not researched Charleroi before coming there, so we didn't know that it is known for its level of crime and beggars. When I went to move my car to a safer location, I noticed unsavory people squatting inside the garage.

Hotel itself is OK - similar to other Novotels I have stayed in. Area around hotel rather grim. Several defunct shops and restaurants. Not the fault of the hotel. Need a good street plan to find hotel unless somebody gives you directions. If you consult Google maps print out the detailed directions if you can. Unless your smartphone can direct you.

Les chambres sont ultra propres, modernes et bien équipées. Localisation parfaite au coeur de la ville. Petit-déjeuner parfait (en salle comme en chambre). Agréable bar avec un joli toit terrasse. The hotel was nicer than most chains I've stayed in.

Right next to a shopping mall, so parking is available and there are numerous shops and things to do.

The cost of breakfast is exorbitant, but there are quite a few cafés/boulangeries in the area that deliciously solve that particular problem.

have no bed thing. its just up of the mall can park in the mall. good price.\Charloei itself is not the nicest city but if you are there this is the place to stay

Had a fantastic stay in Novotel Charleroi, bright and spacious rooms with great showers. Bed was very comfortable. Only issue I had was the speed of check in with only one member of staff working and a queue of 6/7 guests, not a big issue overall. Fantastic stay.

A bit deceptive, room not as described

We paid for a superior double room but did not get as shown in the photos for that exact room - only one chair and no recliner, no work desk, just a small table.

When we arrived it was not immediately obvious where the car park was - hubby went up to find out where - wasn’t tokd everything. Was told B6 parking spot - when we drove in there was only 2 left and both were disabled parks. We drove into one till we found out more info. The guy at reception was not friendly with his response - said we could park anywhere - he could’ve said that at the start! Unfortunately this parking is for Novotel and anyone else, so it took ages to drive around looking for an empty space!

We had a coffee maker but paper cups to put it in - really???? So we used the bigger and better bathroom cups. Come on Novotel - how hard is it to supply a good coffee cup?

Bed comfort was so so, shower was good, bathroom very nice, shopping centre in same building a bonus. Doubt that we’d book this hotel again, let alone come to this boring town.

Hotel itself lovely. Our room had a toilet cubicle which was open at the top and bottom of the door when you shut it- not for the squeamish! Great shower, comfortable bed. Very nice, friendly staff. Complimentary drinks on the outdoor terrace was nice. Charleroi looks to be a former heavy industry town fallen on hard times. A lot of the environs of the central station and ‘river front’ are in the process of development and currently are building sites. The plaza in front of the hotel was fine.

Highly disappointed stay it was, my entire family was still unable to come out from that thought. We were given used towels and left out with used bed covers. Feeling highly disgusting on using previous members used towel. I don’t have much words to express, it is the disappointment and the feelings your mind go through on you and your kids using the someone used towel and sleeping in the bed which cover was not changed. This doesn’t look like one time mistake but it looks like cost cutting idea where we been the victim.

Nice modern fittings but did experience a problem with the bathroom door which was plate glass and opened both ways with a large gap at the bottom and my wife jammed her toes under it on the first night! Painful!
Finding the hotel by road was difficult as the gps could not locate the destination as it is in a pedestrian area and the descriptions prior to booking did not explain the procedure if travelling by car.

Our room was great and check in was easy. Front desk gave us a restaurant recommendation within walking distance and it was fantastic. Only problem was the hotel is impossible to find by car. Most of the surrounding roads were pedestrian only or walking distance. Would have really helped having the directions to find the parking lot in advance!

Good with more light it could be great

I went for a family room without breakfast as i don't normally manage it. The room was a good size but I can't imagine a whole family staying in it, it was fine for me on my own. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was immaculate. The room had good facilities eg. tea coffee, hairdryer, water etc.. but i would have liked more than one tea bag and there was very little lighting, two side lights to the bed, a standard light and a light just above the door as you enter the room but none overhead in the rest of the room which made it quite dark. Cleanliness wise the bathroom had some random stains on the wall but was otherwise clean. It was a shame you couldn't open the window as the air conditioning was not the easiest to function. I like the recycled rainwater that flushes the toilet they are obviously environmentally friendly.

Have called the hotel before booking and asked if they can provide 2 cribs as I have baby twins, called the afternoon of the day of the checkin to be sure that they were planning to place the cribs and the receptionist said yes. When we arrived at the hotel with the babies at 11pm they didn’t have the cribs in the room and 40 minutes later they found 1 crib, and said that they couldn’t provide sheets. We ended up go8ng to bed at 1am and 1 baby had to sleep in the big bed. Very uncomfortable and we didn’t even received apologies from the hotel.

This hotel is awesome ! Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Room is clean and comfy with good amenities. The food, breakfast served in the restaurant were good. If you drive, parking is inside the shopping mall that connected with hotel and you get discounted price for parking, too.
Next time when I’m in Charleroi, I’ll come back and stay here again!

New hotel next to shopping mall

This is a new hotel connected to a shopping center. Underground parking is fantastic and the hotel gives a 50% discount. The staff are friendly and helpful and the decor in the common areas is trendy and cool. My main issue though is the room; while very clean, the decor doesn't match that of the common areas, and feels already dated. The bed linens aren't great either; they're a 78% polyester 22% cotton blend, and quite scratchy. There is one main light in the room which is very bright; without it, though, it's very dark. But, I will return the next time I'm in Charleroi on business, due to the location, ease of parking, and staff.

It seemed to be interwoven into the surrounding buildings so it was at the heart of the town whilst taking up minimal space

Hotel parking is in shopping centre multi-storey, level B2. Sat nav tries to take you to pedestrian only hotel front. Shopping centre is not signed very well. Main Street pretty run down but much better than rest of town, I’d probably not go back to this town

Personnel peu accueillant que ce soit à l’accueil ou au petit déjeuner, sans parler de la femme de chambre qui ne dit même pas bonjour.
Les moquettes sont toutes tachées. Les œufs du petit déjeuner sont surcuits et secs. Le petit déjeuner est débarrassé sous nos yeux et les plateaux de charcuterie et fromage superposés les uns sur les autres…on se demande si c’est resservi derrière. Les machines à café débranchées à 10h tapantes. Bref. Seul le nom est commun à un autre Novotel. Le reste est catastrophique

La atención de la señorita que nos atendió cuando llegamos fue horrible.Cuando le dijimos que solo hablábamos español ya nos puso cara, en plan ,\" ufff\". Nos dio un papelito para llegar al parking, pero el GPS nos llevó a otro porque no había plantas inferiores. Nos tocó salir, dejar el coche mal aparcado y entrar e intentar decirle a la señorita que no encontrábamos el parking que nos decía. Intentamos hablar con ella con el traductor, a lo cual también nos puso cara de que pesados. Al final pasamos de ella y fuimos a buscar el parking. Que al final estaba más adelante, pero no sabemos porque con lo que ella nos dió nos mandaba al otro. Y debe ser siempre así porque había otra pareja que le pasó lo mismo. Podría haber tenido más interés en atendernos bien y nos hubiéramos ahorrado todo el tiempo perdido con el dichoso parking
