Lovely getaway in nature-byo water

Great place if you are seeking a remote getaway in nature. The deluxe beachfront pavilions offer beautiful views of the sea and private beaches set in jungle surroundings. Loved the pool. Plenty of wildlife.
For awareness, the resort is accessible via a single rough private road from Nai Harn Beach- approximately 2 kms, walkable but steep in some places. The resort offers occasional complimentary transport between Nai Harn and the resort.
Water on site is bore water only and not drinkable even after boiling. Bring your own water from Nai Harn.

Didn't like - Distance from the rest of the world. A really remote location and transport is a must as there is almost nothing in walking distance really. Desalinated seawater.

The scenery of the resort is very beautiful and quiet, and the ocean is crystal clear. It's very restful and relaxing space. The room is very clean. And staff are very responsive to request. However, there are places need improvement like you can see broken debris around, rubbish is hidden underneath branches or at corners. Overall, I still like this place very much.

We stayed here to await for our arrival PCR results, staff were very knowledgeable and informative on the process. Location is amazing, in the jungle with great views of their private beach, very easy to access too. They also have a daily pick up which takes you to the main public beach only about 5 minutes away. Everything was just so easy and relaxing. Very clean, great food and drinks and overall nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, just so happy to assist you wherever they can. Dada on reception is exceptional! Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely return!!

It was an amazing stay. The staff is very nice and will do anything to help you. The room are big and clean. The location is quite hard to find but you are in the middle of the jungle with a private beach and beautiful sun set ! I will recommend my friends to go there !

I loved the quiet location, built on the side of the mountain hill and into the jungle.
I loved the beautiful gardens with such a great variety and diverse species of plants.
The gardens are meticulously maintained by two hard working gardeners, that are very humble people.
The resort is ocean front.
All the staff at this resort are very polite and respectful, such beautiful people are the Thai people.
This is our second time staying at Baan Keating, we will be back next year and plan to stay longer

Highly recommended for a laid back, rustic trip!

One of the best experiences we've had at a hotel.

A secluded, peaceful, beautifully designed resort! Simple, elegant design - tasteful and authentic local feel. Incredible evenings in a forest setting with a nice private beach and terrific private pool under the trees. Excellent beaches nearby as well.

Exceptional service from very thoughtful staff who placed flowers in our room when we informed them we were visiting for our honeymoon. A special thank you to Mr Sathit and the lady manager who worked in the afternoons. Both spoke excellent English, quickly and efficiently provided solutions for our questions and did so with smiles. Thanks again to them and all the staff for making our honeymoon perfect! Highly recommended for a laid back, rustic, quiet vacation - where you feel like you are in Thailand and not just a generic hotel.

Breakfast was very tasty and with a good variety (unclear of why others have complained about it). Very limited wifi was a blessing so we could properly relax and disconnect!

We wanted peace and quiet because of our hectic lives. Here we got it. Fantastic sea view room , lovely and clean! Definitely the place to go to get away from it all. Staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We opted for local food which was lovely and reasonably priced. Safe and beach towels were provided free of charge. Definitely will go back.

Calm beauty in a party city

This is not for everyone, but of you enjoy being off the beaten trail, away from the city, in a gorgeous setting, this one's for you. The seaside rooms are a must. Bigger, nicer, with a great view, and easy walk to the beach. The two beaches are very small, but both have access to snorkeling. Do your research, there is a reason this is the number 1 rated snorkeling area. We went on a full moon, bad time to snorkel with with extreme tides,visibility was poor, but there reef and fish were abundant.
The breakfast apparently has gotten better, and the wait staff was excellent. Only negatives, they need better shuttle service to town, it runs every 2 hours, but only 10am to 6pm. They need to rent kayaks and snorkel gear if they are going to be so isolated, just to give more variety for activities. It would nice if the front desk spoke more English. I speak a little Thai, so I made do. Took my daughter and her family, they all loved it.

In the words of the driver who took me to the hotel, \"your hotel is far away from everything!\"
And, he was right. It definitely is a private, remote, and removed location-- which has benefits and disadvantages. It was a little more than a 1km walk to Nai Harn beach and anything worth visiting...

Despite arriving much earlier than I anticipated, my arrival to the Baan Kraating went rather smoothly. My room wasn't immediately available, so I was able to drop my things at the desk and explore the island. The room was ok- just ok. I had a few issues with the safe/security box, and the room door, but the staff was fairly responsive.

I was also disappointed to find that there was a pretty serious fee for internet. Even in Thailand, paying for internet is an outdated idea. I've stayed at plenty of other hotels in Phuket and other parts of the mainland where wifi is included in the price of the room. Given that there is much reason to figure out what is or isn't within a reasonable walking distance from the hotel, and the hotel is pretty much out of cell/data signals, internet is pretty necessary and should be available without additional fees.

Amazing place.

This place was really wonderful. We stayed in the beachfront bungalows and the view was just amazing. Room was excellent too with a huge balcony overlooking the ocean. Only quarm is that the receptionist tried to sell us a room for 1000 bhat more than advertised on their website. We booked it online in the reception which was awkward to say the least. In any case I'd stay here again. It's a great spot tucked away on a jungly hillside. Note, no wifi in rooms. You have to pay by for hotel wifi.

Close to Nai Harn Beach which was the main purpose of the stay. Cabin style accommodation which was fine but many stairs to climb, to and from the pool and beach area. Wi fi also has to be purchased which isn't ideal. It's a nice area with good service but maybe not for everyone?

What hotel in 2018 still charges for wi-fi? I stopped including it in my hotel searches because I hadn't seen a hotel without free wi-fi in at least five years. Not a huge deal, but on principle I wouldn't have stayed here if I had known.
Aside from that, the service is friendly if not entirely competent. The rooms are fantastic but the luxurious king-size bed was way too hard and therefore uncomfortable and not luxurious. The compound is quite remote, which has its advantages and disadvantages. A small private beach is nice but isn't perfect for swimming as there's coral and rocks before the water gets deep enough to really give up your feet. The restaurant is good, although they twice brought me pad thai with shrimp when I explicitly asked for it without. But wow, these are beautiful rooms!

No Free Wi Fi Here

This place could be really special. The location is fantastic, nestled in the jungle with beautiful views of the water. Hard to believe in this day and age you have to pay for wi-fi, but that is the case with this hotel and its not cheap. Staff appear like they would rather be anywhere other than work, you barely see any staff and when you do no one says hello. Breakfast is terrible. No one tells you that you can order eggs. Room is clean enough however someone needs to do something about maintenance, there was a lot of mould build up in the shower, light bulbs not working and despite asking for them to be fixed, they never were. If you are after a hotel in great surroundings then this is for you, if you want the service and facilities of a resort then I suggest you look somewhere else.

Beautiful, secluded, romantic getaway

The perfect resort for a secluded, romantic getaway. The resort was tucked away in a jungly hillside which sat next to it’s own private beach. This is not the place to go to if you are looking for a walkable resort next to shopping and restaurants! We found this to be a plus as much of Phuket is designed for walkability. We rented a motorbike from the resort to do our shopping and exploring. Once outside the resort there are many things to see; Rawai Beach, Nai Harn Beach and the famous cape for sunsets.
The sea view room was breathtaking - full of small finishes that really added to the ambiance of the room. Tall ceilings, bed facing the beautiful patio that overlooked the sea. Each morning we got to wake up to the sun rising above the hills. The bathroom was adorned with two sinks, a walk in shower, robes, slippers and storage. It was massive.
The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We became friendly with a few of them in the restaurant as we sort of became “regulars”. They made us feel at home which was nice.
We cannot day enough about this resort. We would and will be back.

Poor sevice in a land that shines at hospitality.

I usually don't criticize, in the last year I have travelled to 11 countries on 4 continents, staying in 22 hotels, from 2-5 stars, including a month in Thailand in four hotels. This is the only one where the staff seemed miserable and not suited for hospitality, especially in Thailand, a nation of niceness. I wish it was a single isolated incident, but with each interaction I felt I should be apologizing for bothering them, and each episode was a waste of time, gaining no help from them. They don't seem to care, I imagine this is trickle down from management judging the run down state of the facilities. The room itself was very nice, sizeable, clean, lovely bed, washroom etc. There are just too many other great places in Thailand to recommend here.

Lovely beach resort but hard to access as local Drivers didn’t know the way. The room was really good but restaurant service and standards was barely adequate.
The private beach became overrun with people being bussed over so very little privacy after midday.

Hotels.com not customer friendly.

We had a problem with the booking E mail confusion and one lost mail resulted in us double booking Hotels.com were contacted 3 times by phone as the hotel had agreed not to take payment as they accepted we had made a mistake. Hotels.com insisted hotel had to contact and confirm that they would not take payment. however when I called Hotels.com they were never able to contact Khun Napat to be told the hotel would not take payment. As you do not supply E mail address and chat was only running during night for the hotel staff. no contact was made I was given the run around. If the Hotel did not take payment (we stayed there on our other booking) then hotels.com should refund us the money please confirm this as you make contacting you rarther difficult. Dave Stocking

Enjoyed my stay here. The location was peaceful and relaxing. To be able to snorkel straight off the beach was great. Other more popular beaches are close by. A scooter is really necessary for getting around unless you're happy to relax by the pool or snorkel. The only downfall were the very hard beds.

An absolutely fabulous place to stay. A little effort to get to but definitely worth it, the beach is lovely for snorkeling and when you need a little shade the pool is very nice. Yummy food, lovely staff and scooters for rent to discover the surroundings. I hope we return some day!

A perfect private beach.

We really enjoyed a calm atmosphere amid clouded Phuket during the New Year vacation. The private beach is a better place for snorkeling in comparison with the remote islands. We can easily access many sea creatures. It is relatively hard to reach the hotel by your car through a narrow winding pass, but it is worth.

Rooms and setting are great but be warned it is a little secluded. There is no free wifi (1 day THB400) and while the staff are very nice and friendly we found that most of our requests were greeted with No Can. There is a private beach which is good for snorkeling. Restaurant serves good thai food. Its perfect if you want to get away from it all, but if you want to be near other stuff to do you will need a bike / car.

This resort is delapidated with collapsed buildings and piles of wooden boards with rusty nails sticking up strewn around. It's down a long winding single lane road with blind corners, so taxi drivers don't like to drive there. It costs 200 baht just to go one way from the hotel to the nearest civilization (nai harn beach). The hotel runs a shuttle service that goes 4 times a day, otherwise they will also charge you 200 baht to dive the same route during off hours (the last one runs at 4 pm). There is no privacy-- I had an ocean-facing room with big sliding doors and a balcony that was not attached to anything, so I was lounging in my room naked and one of the employees jumped from a nearby balcony onto mine and took one of the chairs off my balcony without alerting me, so I lost a chair and he got an eye full. The staff is not accomodating nor particularly friendly, and some of them speak enough English to get by, but most don't speak any. The pool was clean but the area around it looked like the place had been abandoned a decade ago.

What a perfect little place to start our time in Thailand . Perfect little bungalows , with the sounds of nature as soon as you open the door , with the most breath taking views of palm trees and greenery. Although the beach wasn't a place that you could swim, the local Nai Harm Beach was only a free shuttle away by the amazing bottle hotel. I would definitely recommended this hotel to anyone. It was peaceful , relaxing and family friendly. Only wish was that there was free wifi but in some ways it was nice to disconnect.

Nice hotel close to Ao Sane beach

It's a very nice hotel, bargain price but with amazing view.
BEACH
It's a bit far from Nai Harn beach, around 15 mins sweaty walk (uphill and downhill). Another popular but smaller beach -- Ao Sane, which is just 5 mins from hotel, and have a local restaurant there. Personally it's less commercial than Nai Harn. Hotel owns a little private beach, which is a bonus! They have just a few sun loungers, so be a early bird.
TRANSPORT
You will pass through The Nai Harn hotel and its back before arriving Baan Krating. So if taxi driver is hesitated, just ask them to drive through all the way on the road. Baan Krating is right at the end. You can rent motor bikes from the local store nearby.
MEAL
Breakfast is included, don't expect much though. If you are coffee lover, It's definitely failed. Restaurant at Ao Sane and one called Mahasamutr - Sunset Bar which got fantastic view might be your choices.
CONCERN
(1) it's not a disabled-friendly hotel -- it's located up on the hill and down, so it's very harsh for wheelchair or elderly. And access to the rooms are all stairs;
(2) i think it's a popular hotel to mainland Chinese tourists/tours, I found there's new group come and go everyday. Nothing wrong with that, but if you can't bare the loud talking or spitting, you might consider of this.

Great hotel but hard to find with hire car

the hotel was hard to find because we landed in Phuket in darkness and we hired a car. Tried getting directions from night staff but language barrier didn't help and phone number on web site wasn't correct. The overall stay was great at the hotel because it was a great location and fabulous setting in the rain forest. Staff was so friendly but we found that with the entire Thai people. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be away from it all and enjoy the tranquil setting this hotel has to offer. Breakfast was very limited though would enjoyed a better variety because we stayed another at another baan krating hotel and the breakfast had more choice. Loved the experience and would definitely stay again.

Nice place in the forest. It was hard to get too and once you where there it was pretty nice. Had its own beach that was just ok. The beach down the road was better. The room was big and roomy the bed was hard though like all the other rooms in Thailand. Yes, I would stay here again.

Everything was perfect!!! Only room for improvement is the hotel restaurant, which need to develop menues and staff in order to make Ban Krating guests stay for lunch and dinner as well. The breakfast buffet is great, however. More fun, better food at less price at Ao Sane, next door.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting with a nice small secluded beach and walking distance to two other beaches-there is a shuttle as well. My complaint would be the staff did not seem to care about quality of service-seemed indifferent and this is not what we encountered at other hotels in the country. If you want a quiet stay in a jungle atmosphere, you may want to try this.

Baan Krating is in a lovely location, its quite far from everything else in Phuket but if you are looking for somewhere quiet and on teh beach to stay than this is perfect. The room was roomy and clean over looking the ocean. The only bad thing I can say, that it was horrible to see other guests littering the beach with ciggarettes and rubbish as well as taking marine life out of the ocean- starfish and hermit crabs and back to there rooms as momento's. Staff simply watched on- surely they would want to protect their surroundings. I just think that staff should do more to stop this before the beach and surround are ruined.

Excellent if you want peace and quiet

It was perfect for what we wanted. Totally remote and away from the loud chaos of Patong, Kata beaches. But it is very far from anything. We rented a motorbike and went to the main strip in Naiharn beach. Most tours pick you up from your hotel anyway but may charge extra due to the distance. Taxi to n any places will cost around 800 baht. We chose the deluxe villa right near the water. it was an amazing view.

great location, in a secluded spot, away from all the over development of Phuket. It has its own private beach/bay which is a real bonus. The food however is not great, one thing I don't understand about these places is that they serve cordials rather than fresh juices, even though the fruits are so easy to get. Anyway great location, clean room, at best average food.

Not worth the money

Good location off the beaten path (almost 1k bhat from Phuket Airport). Pretty helpful setting up activities I wanted to do in Phuket, and their bikes are in good condition should you want to rent a scooter. HOWEVER Customer service is terrible. They overcharge for amenities which are NOT worth it. Their staff takes 3 or 4x as long at the restaurant to bring you your order. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and took it apart, it was 3 slices of bread, half a piece of lettuce ripped up, and 1/3 of a piece of a chicken breast. They charged western prices for this, and ALSO charged a % service charge ontop of this. I asked for Mayo, and 20 mins later they came back with mayo squeezed from a Kebab dispenser and charged me for it. I asked for water and it was left on the counter for 10 mins. Eventually I got up and grabbed it myself, and they came over and insisted I pay a service charge. I asked if it was a \"service charge\" or just a \"tax\" as i didn't really get served, though I did not contest paying more. She got huffy, walked off, grabbed a menu, threw it down on my table and pointed to the small print about the service charge. For a few bhat I wasn't concerned, but the way they go about doing business is AWFUL. There was another resort just outside the entrance I ended up frequenting for meals and to snorkel and I was DEF more pleased with it (though I do not represent this other resort, and am not going to put its name)

This is my very favourite hotel.if you are seeking a quite beautiful and authentic place then this is the hotel for you.the hotel is very well managed and the staff are helpful and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a good stay.I was particulary impressed with the hotel manager Mr Jirapatchr who was listen to my concern about having a quite room and took imidiate action ensuring that our stay is peaceful and very plesant.when we expressed a desire to visit their sister hotel in Kao lak ,the manger arrange for us to go with mr van who was very helpful and entertaining.this place is truly special and it is lucky for us that it was managed by special staff who are able to appreciate the magis surrounding..i just wish that management take action to make the restaurent more popular by introducing daily \"Plat du jour\" with prices attractive to the guests.The restaurent position is magnificant and it is a shame that it is not used fully.i also think that reducing internet rates charged by the hotel will encourrage more guests to use it ,therefore increasing revenue.In conclusion it is a hotel that i would love to return to .

Very Nice Hotel Secluded from All the Others

This is a wonderful hotel for couples or ones just looking to get away from all the crowds. I will surly return if I come again to Rawai.

Very nice stay but not super clean bathroom

Very nice stay. Beautiful place in the nature. Away from the crowds. Really liked it. Good restaurant (especially the fried noodles with chicken). Good service. Only thing to notice is the cleaning is not super good, we had some small brown stains on the toilet and areas around e.g., wall, as well as shower seemed to have old hairs.

Heerlijk plekje. Enigzins afgelegen, maar wanneer je een scooter erbij boekt ben je binnen 5 minuten op het grote strand. Ofwel je maakt gebruik van de shuttle. Personeel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Klein en fijn strandje voor het resort waar snorkelen prima mogelijk is.
Restaurant is relatief druk met onderbezetting dus vaak lange wachttijden.

Personal und Lage einzigartig. Dafür etwas außerhalb gelegen und ohne Taxi oder Roller sind andere Orte schwer bis gar nicht zu erreichen.

Hotel liegt sehr ruhig am Ende der Zufahrtsstraße, die leider einmal nicht passierbar war, da zugeparkt. Bier zu teuer (kleines Chang 95 Baht). Balkon bei Regen nicht nutzbar, keine Möglichkeit Badezeug zu trocknen. Im Bad nur 2 Duschtücher. Bett hart.

Perfekt sted at starte sin ferie i Thailand. Vi var der i 3 dage og fik vendet os til tidsforskel, varmen og trafikken. Lækker strand ved hotellet, hvor man kan snorkle.

Lage ist toll, Personal sehr freundlich und gut. Einzig das Restaurant. Das Angebot an Spesen ist sehr klein, da ich 4 Woche Gast war, musste ich nach Alternativen suchen. Das Hotel ist am Ende der Straße und der Weg in den Ort etwas weit. habe ich Moped gemietet, was unproblematisch ist. Ansonsten wirklich sehr zu empfehlen

All staff are very kind and mild. Pension is very clean and placed in nice area. Especially this resort has a nice beach to do a snorkel beside a Ao Sane Beach. The beach's bar is also good with staff looks like grand father. The restaurant in resort has a delicious breakfast, main foods and beverages.
