Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner at the restaurant was good. Lake view was very nice. We enjoyed the cool breeze down by the pool to watch the sunset. The rooms are old but everything was clean. The AC and fan kept the room comfortable.

The Lakeside Inn is southern charm in one location. The pools location is on the edge of the lake where one can practice yoga in the morning or sip a cocktail from the inn bar while watching a spectacular sunset. The staff are the kindest most caring individuals who always go above and beyond. The Lakeside Inn IS the only place to stay while in Mount Dora

The property was well maintained and beautiful. Rooms were nothing fancy but very clean. Sunset views and dock were beautiful. We did see two alligators near the shoreline so beware. Breakfast was great and reasonably priced. It’s within walking distance to all shops etc. there’s onsite free parking which is rare. It’s a great place to stay however we were disappointed to find out the pool bar is only open on the weekends.
Also there’s no capability to logon to any movie apps such as Netflix etc.
I would suggest they invest in some new mattresses. We had a double room and one bed was fine but could feel a couple springs in second bed. All In All we had a great stay!

Beautiful 1883 hotel. Well maintained, rooms are very simple, no microwaves or refrigerators, everything was super clean and beds were comfortable, but not memory foam. Very easily walkable to everything in town. Beautiful view of the lake. Pool is huge. Very nice day without being extravagant. There are a lot of stairs, and it can be a little bit of a walk to the parking lot, easy for some, but others may prefer something a little more convenient.

The property is centrally located in Mount Dora. The farmers market was just around the corner. In our room the bedside lamp was not working and initially the TV was not working. But we found out that housekeeping often unplugs the TV when cleaning. I did not find that the lamp was unplugged. This property is very old and has a very special charm. The restaurants are good and there was a piano player at the Tavern in the evening that will play musical pieces by request as well. I think the property is very nice and the view to the lake at breakfast time on the deck is wonderful. There are only a few things that could use some improvements but the staff is very helpful.

My sister & I went to Mt. Dora for a girls trip and after looking at several decent B&Bs that were fully booked, the Lakeside Inn came up as available.

I love old hotels & houses so it was right up my alley. The price was very good for a two queen (or double) room.

The room was spacious, which was nice, but there were several issues that were unacceptable to me, even at a decent price.

I know it’s an old hotel, but they really need to update the rooms. There needs to be more outlets and also USB Plugs. There were a lot of older people like me there and even we use USB outlets believe it or not.

I use a CPAP machine and need an outlet and the only outlet on the headboard side of the room was way back behind the middle of the bed, which was a challenge to get to. The headboard itself actually fell off the wall as I tried to get things situated. Not good.

Also the bathroom didn’t have any space to put any toiletries. The small sink is fine but add a couple shelves and hooks to put your stuff on for gosh sake. Not to mention there was a long curly black hair hanging off one of the towels. Just yuck.

While those were all important things the worst of everything was coming back into the room and finding a big roach crawling up the back of the door in our room!! I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels in my lifetime and have never once seen a live roach running around my room!
Told them at front desk and they asked if I wanted someone to come kill it. Nothing more.

Very quaint hotel. Three restaurants in main building. Hotel has been thoughtfully restored and there were workers repairing things all over the property while we were there. Nice pool area with bar. If you have trouble with stairs there is a ramp to main check-in area and restaurants, but no elevator to upper level rooms. Ask for first floor if you dread stairs. Within walking distance to the many restaurants and shops. Boat tours of lake and channels also nearby.

Quaint historic property on a beautiful lake at the center of a town filled with excellent shops and restaurants. With that, the amenities (bathrooms, outlets, furniture) aren't up to a modern hotel, and there are lots of stairs and no elevators. Very relaxing with a very attentive staff otherwise.

I love historic places but I think it’s time for the Lakeside Inn to give itself some attention. The Bathrooms are great. The mattresses are fine. The furniture carpet and bed coverings could use some updates. Also we were in the main building and had terrible wifi. No plugs near the bed. Just a few updates would be great!

If you like older, classic hotels, this one is worth a look. The facilities are well maintained and modernized, and date back to the late 1900s to early 20th century. The rooms are furnished with period style furniture from the 1920s-1940s. I have a feeling this hotel was pretty advanced for its time, as the modernizing the rooms didn't take a lot of work or trying to cram a bathroom in a closet.
The hotel sports a bar/restaurant and formal dining both inside and on the veranda. Pricing is a few bucks above street, but is worth it, especially for the views and the al fresco experience on the veranda. I did not try the pool, but it looked really great, especially for an older hotel.
The biggest \"amenity\" is that you will be within one block of the Mt. Dora downtown area, which is where all the art/tourist action is in the area. Since parking in downtown is a bear, especially during events, having both free parking and nearby access from your room are two huge pluses.
I saw a lot of \"No Spikes Please\" signs everywhere, but did not see a golf course. Maybe something leftover from yesteryear.
They stressed that they hired hearing impaired cleaning staff, both at the front desk and in their literature. If that is true, then kudos to them. If it is a shtick so that the staff can deliberately ignore Karens and their timewaster requests, kudos to them as well. I like it either way.
Overall, great place with lots of character in the good way, and worth the stay.

There’s just something about staying in a historic Inn. The Lakeside Inn is a beautiful old property with a great pool and a beautiful view of the lake entertainment in the lounge is quite nice. The room was very comfortable as well as the bed. This is a busy Property so if you are going please book early the location for downtown Mount Dora is perfect. I have stayed many times and it is always been very clean and comfortable, and the employees are great.

Lakeside Inn was an awesome place back in time. Mt Dora is a very neat place. It was a great place to relax. Absolutely beautiful. The staff was so so. We stayed in the inn that allowed dogs of which I am grateful. It had old dirty carpet and the cleaning staff was super loud but the place as a whole was worth the stay. The lake was beautiful. I’d stay again.

Very pretty!! Staff was fantastic! Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The room was clean, bright and comfortable. The bed was a bit hard for me but it did not hinder my stay. Will definitely be returning with the hubby for the hotel experience and strolling through all the beautiful boutiques, restaurants and bars in town. The restaurant was pleasant but my shrimp cocktail was overcooked & dry. The bruschetta was very good but the balsamic glaze was too sweet for my taste. All in all, I am so excited to return for a longer stay.

We woke up to a swarm of termites in the bed and throughout the room.
The lady at the front desk said that was just normal and offered free breakfast. A building that old should have more frequent pest maintenance. Also let future travelers know of the issues, especially if it's \"normal\" to have termites sleep with you.

When our room was cleaned they changed out the towels and took trash. Empty paper roll for toilet and dead bugs on floor. Only half cleaned. Not good. Then a dinner reservation was made for Sunday inside and then we find out that restaurant isn't closed on Sunday so eating on the veranda. Staff should have known that when taking reservation. My boyfriend and I just came back from a long weekend at the Lakeside Inn and we really enjoyed ourselves!! PSA if you are not looking to stay in a HISTORIC ANTIQUE hotel this may not be for you, but it was for us! Beautifully restored wood floors, clawfoot tub for soaking (plumbing was backwards), cozy hand made quilts for each room! You may lack the modern conveniences like a refrigerator in your room (we ended up bringing a small cooler for leftovers and used ice from the machine on the first floor) but it makes up for it in the charm and character. The location is everything! Absolutely beautiful and perfectly located to all of downtown Mount Dora’s shops and restaurants. Everything we wanted to do was already there within walking distance and the few things we drove off property for were 10-20 minutes away. We will most certainly be back!

Upon walking up to the building, I noticed it hasn’t seen a pressure washer since 1920. Bugs cover every window, outside chair, ceilings, gazebo.. infested. When I entered the building, I was greeted by the smell of mold. Understandably it’s an old building, but it near knocked me out. Once I got into my room, I stepped foot on a crunchy stained rug that’s probably never seen a shampoo. The bathroom was extremely basic and a bugs of course stuck to the wall. While I shower with soap filled hair, suddenly the water stopped, and again and again and this continued every time we used water. Upon lifting the sheets to snuggle up in bed, I’m greeted by not one but 3 mosquitos stuck to the inside of the sheets. Then look to my left and see another bug that I cannot name exactly. Completely exhausted, I grabbed the blanket I took from home, thank god. I turned to plug my phone in bed and what do you know, there’s no plug and some random guests bracelet waited patiently for me to find it. During the night the AC continuously turns on/off and the room will fluctuate significantly. I felt a hot flash all night long, sweating to freezing. Finally morning, we eagerly pack our things and go to check out. Im told there’s “complimentary coffee” and I’m excited by one final let down… the most horrible bitter bottom shelf coffee you can buy. Thanks supervisor of Lakeside Inn for being the worst host & least compassionate person. Your declining to reconcile this is GROSSLY irresponsible.

The property is very pristine. Over 100 year old facility, beautiful old lodges, very scenic. The food at the restaurant was excellent. When we checked in, was given a set of room keys that did not fit the locks on the door. After reviewing the situation with the desk, I informed them that I wanted another room. The rooms were old by nature. but usable. I am not sure I would stay there again.

We stayed Apr 23-24th, room 7123 and our room had black mold on the walls.They painted over it but it was bubbled out and was very mushy. Our whole room smelled like mold. There were droppings in the closet that looked like mouse poop. The bathroom was not clean and the light fixture had never been cleaned. The towels felt like sad paper on your skin. This isn't a huge deal but the TV was completely fuzzy and you couldn't read the guide because it was so distorted. We were told there was towels at the pool, but there were none. A lot of little things wrong but the biggest was the black mold. Hopefully they will get this fixed, but we will never stay there again.
