I took a bus from Lisbon to Obidos. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the bus drop off point. Though it was not an easy walk as the road isn’t flat. Recommend that you avoid bringing big luggage. While the hotel is within walking distant from the shops and restaurants and everything you need to see in Obidos, it is not at the main street from all the restaurants so you don’t hear much noise at night (a bonus for light sleeper).

The only suggestion I have would be an upgrade of the bathroom. Other than that, everything else was fine.

Would not recommend the hotel. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the location was very convenient to the town. On the negative side, there is no parking and I had to figure out that myself. Also, you have to carry your bags up a steep, slippery slope and stairs. The worst part was that the room had a terrible smell of mold and mildew which seems to be prevalent throughout the hotel. You would think they would have figured that out by now. My wife says you get what you pay for but in all of my many years of travel, I have never smelled a room that bad. The least they could have done was provide some air freshener.

I loved the decoration and cleanliness of the room. And didn’t like the lack of staff and service. Also, they told us when we arrived that there was going to be breakfast in the morning and there wasn’t any. Not even coffee. There was only tea and no tables and chairs to sit.

Walked up from the train station. Beautiful location. Initially confused as to where lobby/ check-in is located because of so many Pousada Vila Obidos signs, but once we located the proper entrance, our experience could not have been better. Pedro is an excellent employee, giving us suggestions, answering questions, seeing us walking along the street and ensuring we were doing well later in the day. Walking along the top of the wall is so fun and you must try a ginja!

Beautiful hotel inside the wall right at one of the side entrances. Beautiful lobby area with outside patio, beautiful room with excellent bedding and remodeled bathroom with window facing the tower wall, x el lent breakfast buffet. Hotel gives you access to tour the tower palace since it belongs to the same group. They also offer a shuttle to the train station. The bus stop is only 7 minutes walk to hotel

Very hard to find property. They sent information about parking and said to park behind a business. There were no directions to that business and it did not show up on gps. Finally found the but lot, but it was closed for a special event and we had no idea where to park or how to get to property. They emailed a map of the town but it was very small and hard to read, and had no specific directions of how to find the specific property from the entrance to the walled area. The gps coordinates they sent did not work. We were able to find the castle and some very nice people at the castle hotel assisted us and helped us find the villa. Also: the villa was farther away than it appeared on the website. It said that it shared facilities with the castle property, but it was a few blocks away. Rooms were clean and nice. Would only recommend if they improve communication about location and parking. A simple map with highlighted buildings and parking lots would help. Directions to the parking area from the main roads would help. Communications about the parking lot being closed would help. It made it a very frustrating experience, and we are seasoned travelers.

This property is nice and located in an unusual town/ place. However, our room had empty bottles left, a cat that followed us around (hubby is super allergic) and then was found on the dining table at breakfast time. The amount of \"do it yourself\" was a bit obnoxious. We would not have booked had we known how difficult it was to traverse the cobblestone with two large suitcases. Thankfully, they honored us having a ground room floor.

May be hard to get to if you do not call ahead

Very well maintained property. Comfortable and clean. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Be aware many ubers will NOT leave you off at the Hotel but rather OUTSIDE the city wall and it is a confusing trek and can be treacherous if you get los with luggage trying to navigate stone streets. Call the hotel beforehand to get instructions.
We had no problem getting picked up right in front when we left to catch our bus to Lisbon. Would love to stay here again

We enjoyed the quiet, lovely room and elaborate breakfast. Three suggestions for check-in however since the location differs from the property check-in site... Place a map at the property directing people to the check-in site. And, remind guests of the off-site location, plus a phone number, in the last reminder email sent via Expedia. Other than the check-in confusion (the Google maps name for the check-in site and the property description/signage names differ) it was a great stay. Once you know that you're headed for the castle to check-in, you can't miss it.

small rooms, great location

got a tiny room (about 2.5X2.5) on a pavement level , despite the fact we've booked a higher than standard room.
Other than that, a nice stay - the place is quite new and well maintained. A little patio where you can have your breakfast is a nice touch.

Overall is good with free breakfast. It is very difficult to find and to drive to the hotel which is behind the castle wall. When we finally drove to the hotel entrance, we found that we had to do the check in at the Pousada de Castello Óbidos. We gave up driving there again after a hectic search. Instead, we walked to the reception, about 10mins walk. It will be nice if the hotel can give a route map to drive to the hotel and also information on how to check in. This hotel is the sister hotel of Pousada de Castello Óbidos.

Charming boutique hotel in little old town

We stopped at Óbidos only briefly and found this small boutique hotel quite charming, it is an old building modernized - just like any other hotels in the historic town. The room we stayed in was spacious enough, with comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Breakfast was good too. The only shortcoming is that it is difficult to find, even with google map and gps navigator.

All hotels are at the mercy of their employees and how the mission of the establishment is carried out. Marta and Romeo treated us as family and could not do enough for us. The room was very clean, and beautiful. The neighborhood was quiet at night. We spent time at 6 different hotels or homes over our trip and Pousada Vila Obidos is the one we will most remember. 3 nights was not enough.

Awesomeness within Castle Walls

Stayed one night and absolutely loved it. This was my 4th visit to Obidos, but 1st overnight stay...nothing better than an early morning walk on the castle walls, and Pousada Vila Obidos is in the perfect location to explore the wall and all the beautiful streets without the crowds in the evening or early morning. The Pousada is a new, modern, very pleasant hotel with all the modern luxuries.
Word of caution: If you're driving to Obidos, I recommend parking your car outside the castle walls and walking to Pousada Vila Obidos.

Excelente achado no coração de Óbidos

Pousada nova, prédio que foi da Santa Casa e foi remodelado. Café da manhã pago à parte muito bom. Recepção acolhedora, enviaram mapa e toda explicação de onde deixar o veículo estacionado fora da muralha, além de mimos e um cartão de aniversário para meu esposo no quarto. Recebemos upgrade para vista da muralha de nossa janela. Upside incrível foi poder visitar o alto da torre do castelo e que também é um hotel da rede Pestana. Vamos voltar!

O carro nao pode entrar na area murada e portanto , so se vc tiver sorte, é que ele vai ficar proximo ao hotel. E vc ainda tem que carregar suas malas.

Falsche Vorstellungen von einer Pousada

Von einer Pousada hatten wir wohl falsche Vorstellungen.
Da diese in der Altstadt liegt, muss man den Koffer vom außerhalb gelegenen Parkplatz bis zum Hotel transportieren. Im Zimmer selbst begrüßte uns ein sehr unangenehmer Geruch eines Schrankes, das Bad war extrem unpraktisch ohne Ablagemöglichkeiten. Das Frühstück sehr minimalistisch. Bei vier Sternen kann man doch mehr als eine Jugendherberge erwarten.
Ich rate von einer Buchung ab. Wenn man sich den Stress mit dem Koffer ersparen möchte, besser außerhalb der Mauern nach einer Unterkunft suchen.

Vi ble oppgradert til et Superior rom, som var hyggelig, fint og stille, med utsikt over bymuren. Det var gratis frokost og behjelpelig ansatt. Om vi skal nevne noe negativt, så var det 450 meter å gå fra parkeringsplassen og mange trapper, vanskelig å få riktig temperatur på vannet i dusjen og vegg til vegg teppe på rommet.
