Good luck finding parking! You have to hope to find a spot on the street nearby, because there's no parking lot or garage for this hotel. We were greeted by someone on the phone on the couch and when we got up to our tiny room, there was a missing TV. We went downstairs to talk to the receptionist, who was on the couch and on her phone again. She gave us a different room to try, but the bathroom was missing the shower towels and the water pressure was awful. Also, the new room had no carpet. In addition, the restaurant was closed down and was only serving drinks, and the breakfast bar selection was abysmal.

Stayed forb4 nights during New Year’s holiday and had a great time. The location was amazing right downtown near the water and all the activities. The room was clean and included a nice breakfast in the morning. The lobby was really nice and had a full bar. We’ll definitely stay again in future trips to New Bedford.

No parking on site. No pre warning that the bar and restaurant will be closed. We are in a large storm and expected to venture out to find somewhere to eat.
Room dirty with someone’s dorito’s on the floor. Noise from outside loud as windows are not adequately glazed. Apparently breakfast will be in a bag to collect in the morning.

Housekeeping never came to clean the room or empty trash or change towels for the five days there. Had to empty trash and leave near the housekeeping cart. Left dirty towels in the cart as well. Linen closet was on our floor and open so we selected the towels we needed on a daily basis.

It is a very cute hotel, quaint rooms, has a very historic feel about it. On street parking has been very convenient in the times that I have stayed there.
The only challenge is at the check-in. It hasn’t been a very friendly staff. They seem tired and removed, because each day I’ve done it late at night. On my last day they had overbooked the hotel, even though I had prepaid for my room. The young man working the front desk was relatively new and seemed pretty overwhelmed. His answer was nothing I can do, but I can issue a refund. Midnight in New Bedford there wasn’t a whole lot of other options. I asked them to call a manager, and the manager essentially relayed the same message. I asked him to call the next higher person who essentially said give us the room because we were there in the next one with the reservation won’t have a room. I appreciate you getting the room, but didn’t feel very good about it. The whole process took almost an hour and at that hour at night. It wasn’t very enjoyable

Wonderful location with eady walking through out the historical district and waterfront. Plenty of dining opportunities.
Value for the stay was exceptional. Free parking for the hotel just a two block distance. Continental breakfast and lobby bar appreciated. ALL staff were happy and attentive. We will stay here again.

The parking lot is located blocks away -not very convenient, especially in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. The floors in the room were dirty, as was one of the towels. Some of the furniture was worn. I would not recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. Our room was spacious with lots of natural light, which we loved.
The bar attendant was great too- very friendly and fun to chat with.
Breakfast was simple but convenient: danishes, oatmeal packets, bagels, premade sandwiches, and boiled eggs in the fridge. There’s a toaster and microwave if you want to warm things up. Just a heads-up, don’t expect the usual hotel spread with waffles, pancakes, or scrambled eggs. :)
The location was awesome- restaurants are just a short walk away. Parking was easy too, with the hotel’s lot just a block over, and we felt safe walking back and forth.
Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

So the stay was convenient. I will say it was within walking distance to the ferry, dining options around and a whale museum. Nice little historic area. Safety-wise there were some homeless but people didn’t bother you as much. My room wasn’t cleaned properly, but again it was doable as I tend to wipe things down anyway. There were stains on the curtains and used shower gel still in the shower. The bed was ultra soft but not too bad. The staff was okay. Neyla was very friendly and knowledgeable about area. The other staff was not as friendly or warm. But they did their job nonetheless. The breakfast was continental style but there was a little bakery a block away, where you can get fresh baked goods. I would say the hotel has the location going for them. Being within walking distance to most of what you may need and a ferry ride away from Martha’s Vineyard.

The staff was nice but the room was very dirty…hairs in the sheets, looked like the bed was not cleaned between guests…bathroom hair and floss on floor …there was 1 towel in bathroom, the staff did bring towels right away.
Had to walk down 3 flights of stairs with luggage since elevators were not working
The area around the hotel is seedy…lots of homeless…the waterfront which is 10-15 min walk is nice near the ferry.
I would not call this a boutique hotel…no food service at the hotel restaurant, maybe cause it was a Sunday? lol would find somewhere else to stay

We booked the king room with a harbor view. The room, on the top floor, had a beam ceiling with brick walls, which we appreciated as we enjoy historical inns. The picture window was a plus. The vibe in the lobby is nice with the bar right there, and some seating.

Unfortunately, the room wasn't very clean. The carpeting on the floor had visible signs of unvacummed particles, the night stand was dirty and hadn't been cleaned.
There is no place in the shower to hang a face cloth and the corner shelf, which is tiny, was not secured to the bracket and could easily fall to the floor. The bathroom sink wasn't cleaned along the upper edges and it grossed us out.
The road noise outside is super loud in the morning.
Sorry, not usually a complainer but disappointed.

Like many other reviews, it is a complete change that general service and upkeep here is so poor. Had to ask for towels our very first night, room stinks of cigarette smoke, and then day #2 included zero room housekeeping and we had to ask for towels to shower yet again. The bare minimum to run a hotel is, provide towels and that could not be accomplished. If you’re simply jumping across to Martha’s Vineyard
this is a fine interim. Otherwise, avoid at all costs.

At check in I was asked if I had all ready checked in, because they apparently had given my room to someone else. Why check ID's if you just give rooms away to random people. The shower was large, but the only shelf in it was glass and about ready to fall off the wall. Breakfast was mediocre at best. No onsite parking.

Room was very noisy...issues with the ventilation system in the room (assume it was a problem and not the normal sound of it). The lobby is more of a bar than a hotel lobby and was full and very noisy. Plus the fact that they had no parking nearby and no valet is a huge problem. I traveled there alone for a bridal shower in the area. I ended up leaving my car at the shower location and Ubered back and forth to hotel. A disappointing experience.

Not our first time here. The lobby is rather sparse but clean with comfortable seating. It also serves as the area for the continental breakfast offerings which is one of the better continental breakfast’s we’ve seen. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable but they could use new pillows. The bathroom/shower is small and being on the fifth floor we experienced very low water pressure in our shower. One of our bath towels was rather thread bare too. There are a number places to dine within a short walking distance.

Let me begin by saying that this place has a great vibe, great location, and I would love to see a boutique-y hotel succeed in downtown New Beford. In short, I am rooting for the Harbor Hotel but they are making it hard to do so.

First, the pros: great bed! Really nice public spaces. Fridge in the room, which I need for meds but appreciate in general as it saves me time and money. Walkable to all of downtown, the National Park, Whaling Museum, harbor, ferries, etc.


The cons: they are massively understaffed. I am sure this is an economic decision but it is creating a bad feedback loop. I was there for three nights and I never once saw housekeeping. Worse, I came downstairs to *ask for it* every day, and was told that someone would be up. No one was every up. I said specifically I don't need the sheets changed or new towels, I just want the trash emptied and new glasses in the bathroom. I finally asked a housekeeper directly and she said they might not be able to get to me but she would leave an empty trashbag on my door and I could change my trash. For $200 a night? Really? But that didn't happen either so I looked at the bin overflowing with my cold brew bottles and the wine glass from the bar for three days. The front desk is staffed maybe half of the time and I did not leave my suitcase because I did not trust I could get it back in time to make my train. And I would have told them this but nobody asked how my stay was.

Traveling to visit Martha’s Vineyard. Never been to the area. Check in was not helpful with local information at all. Past several staff throughout our 2 night stay and no one spoke in passing. Had to ask for clean towels second day and then only brought 1 wash cloth. When my husband went downstairs to get another was told they were running short on supplies which I thought was very odd. Bed was comfortable and location is ok as far as walking distance to take the Ferry to the Vineyards. No laundry facility, self parking 2.5 blocks away from hotel, no microwave in room and very overpriced. Probably will not choose to stay here again.

The windows open (only a few inches, for safety, of course), which I love. My only criticism is that the description of the room as having a “harbor view” is…generous.
