Room 565 had two gigantic roach bugs that I was able to unalive with my shoe. However as I begin to relax for sleep I heard some noise near the floor under the window and saw a small mice go from behind the curtain on the floor to behind the desk. I was not able to sleep in a room with all these pests.

This was a very convenient and easy location in Lynwood. The grocery across the parking lot was very convenient and made things very simple. I was only there one night but easily could have stayed a week. Breakfast was hot and good and very easy and affordable.

The staff was amazing, as well as the food. The rooms are comfortable - but the bathrooms need upgrading - the showers always leak, flooding the entire place and the silicone in the shower is old and disgusting black like mould.

The room was clean and comfortable. The wifi worked perfectIy so I could catch up on work. I struggled to set the aircon (so perhaps an instruction manual or a summary of how to set it would help), but someone came to set it for me within a few minutes of me phoning reception. The TV remote's baterries were flat, but it was possible to use the buttons on the TV (old school!). Overall, a very pleasant stay. I was so happy to see the soap and shampoo were bars wrapped in cardboard instead of plastic, well done!

Great location (to visit CSIR, and next to restaurants); generally good condition of room and hotel, but bed was not comfortable - I did not sleep well; breakfast was disappointing - poor service and half of the food options ran out an hour into breakfast; Internet was extremely slow; service appears to have become worse over the years.

I liked the area the property was in, I enjoyed the night scenary as well and safety of the surrounding area. I didn't like the fact that my room didn't have a microwave and the air-conditioner was of poor quality as it didn't get hot in a reasonable amount of time.

Booked non-smoking room and got smoking room

Generally happy with accommodation for 2 of the 3 rooms, however we booked non-smoking rooms and they gave us one of the rooms as a smoking room. It stank and was not appreciated. When we queried it with reception they didn’t have any other rooms available. I feel they should have informed us that they can’t meet our requests before they accepted the booking.

Lovely hotel well postioned near shops and restaurants in a very safe area . On site hotel free basement parking .
I would have given this hotel best rating all around had the airconditioning in my room worked . The airconditioning unit just blew uncooled air while temperatures outside were sauring. Sleep was impossible !! Complaints to management fell on deaf ears .

The location was safe and convenient with restaurants within a minutes walk. All the staff were lovely especially on check-in and our waiter. The pool is small and was chilly but we arrived in early September. The room was clean but a little tired hence 4 stars but we would stay here again.

I absolutely loved my 6-night stay, very comfortable room and bed, quiet hotel, clean and fresh. Tea/coffee facilities in the room are a bonus. There is a vending machine downstairs for bottles of water and also a hydration station for water. The hotel has easy access to Lynwood Bridge mall with a good selection of restaurants and coffee shops, and a woolworths too. The pool area is lovely for a swim and some time in the sunshine. I will definitely stay here again next time in Pretoria. It was sheer bliss.

If you are traveling without transport this is the perfect spot. Multiple food options right out the door and more across the Lynnwood Bridge. Perfectly safe and easy to walk. Quiet hotel. A bit of noise from a local pub but it died off by 10pm. VERY friendly and accommodating staff. They were all patient, kind and helpful.

Illogical arrangements at check-in

It is irritating, to say the least, when measures that supposedly address the madness instilled by the pandemic are illogical. On arrival by vehicle, you are instructed to park, exit your vehicle, complete the forms and sanitisation process at the entrance, check in, return to your vehicle and then proceed to park in the basement area. It is then that you discover that there are indeed forms available at the entrance from the basement. On enquiry, I was informed that the door in the basement parking area is locked and the clerk at the reservations counter would have to leave the desk and physically check one in there. But the door is NEVER locked! Really, this is silliness that is simply there to irk a loyal guest. On the other hand, the City Lodge in Lynnwood is one of my favourite hotels, with friendly and knowledgeable staff, fantastic location, comfortable and clean lodgings - and a splendid breakfast.

Just stayed one night so a bit difficult to give a complete review. What I appreciated was the early checkin which was organized: landed at 4 a.m and was in hotel before 6 a.m - the room was ready (normal checkin time is 12h) and without any extra charges.

1) Very warm and welcoming staff even at the early hours of t he day when I checked in.
2) Early booking request fulfilled - highly appreciated.
3) Nice and cool location within an office park and small but convenient shopping centre. Just cross the bridge and you'll have access to more shops, restaurants and supermarkets.

Minus points:
Only minor detail which I didn't like: awakened in the morning at the arrival of the housekeeping team - loud and audible conversations in the corridor, especially for me as I had travelled the whole night and reached the hotel early morning and wanted a good sleep.

Stay at Lity Lodge Lynnwood

Unfortunately my room was not ready when I checked in at 17h30, which I found unacceptable. The room was also very noisy as it in the front of the hotel. Breakfast was already packed away at 09h30, which meant I only had some fruit for breakfast, no eggs or any cooked breakfast. I enjoy staying at City Lodge, Lynnwood because it is convenient, thestaff is friendly and helpful.

Quick summary:

You can see the positives with the stars. Some areas that could be improved:

Was given a smoking room, the only alternative was on the ground floor. I took it. Who has smoking rooms these days?

Maid left the window open one day, on ground floor = security risk.

Breakfast: no plates, empty buffet and long lines at breakfast first morning. Clearly staff were overwhelmed.

Took over 45 min and three calls to get an iron one morning- no iron in the room.

Concierge was clueless about local restaurants.

Gym in the morning had no remote for ac or television, and all water was gone.

That’s said, the staff were NICE.

Stayed here before and it was excellent that’s why we booked it again. This time however it was clear standards have dropped quite a bit from last time. Aircon didnt work, no drinking water (bottled), cups were dirty. Overall dirty feel to the room.

On the plus side though - great location, very very friendly staff.

I wanted to stay near the national labs, CSIR, and this hotel is convenient. The local mall provides great food, a food store, and a nice place to walk outside. My cell phone was having trouble getting an Uber cab, and the front desk used their own phone to order one for me. That is great service.
