My boyfriend and I went to celebrate my birthday and I would like to say the entire resort is beautiful 10 out of 10 if you want some thing that is serene private and luxurious where do you feel like you don’t even have to lift a finger this is the place to stay. The food was delicious. The drinks could’ve been a little stronger, but overall the experience was great. Cholon was across the water so if you want a fun fast pace activity to do that’s a place to go. Just be mindful it’s a little money hungry over there, But you can always negotiate. One of the days we went to the city of Cartenga; The hotel scheduled transportation for us to get there and back and was very communicative when we were off the island. Which we greatly appreciated.

The treetop bungalows were unique and a special lodging experience. We had tree monkeys visit us for 2 of our 3 days on our deck. The room was clean with nice amenities like a fresh water ice machine & air conditioning. Gratis bikes were a great way to get around the property - and the private island was a nice feature with complementary boat rides running every 15 minutes.

Our stay at Las Islas was nothing short of amazing! The resort is literally built within a mangrove forest and surrounded by everything that lives there. We stayed in one of the treetop bungalows and was visited by a range of animals daily. We saw a variety of birds, reptiles, mammals, insects, and fishes, such as iguanas, spiders, racoons, etc. It was easy to lose ourselves in nature. We had breakfast overwater, lunch on the beach and dinner surrounded by lush forest. The entire experience was mind-blowing, yet peaceful and relaxing. We even had a few nights of stormy weather that was both exciting for me and a bit scary for my wife at the same time.

All of the staff we interacted with were always polite and friendly. Even their uniforms added to welcoming and peaceful nature of the resort. A simple walk or bicycle ride (yep, we had these to move around the resort) to the various restaurants were met with smiling faces and greetings from everyone. We had daily housekeeping, and top ups of fruits and water if we needed it.

We also spent an evening on neighbouring Isletta, where we had a late lunch. The island is small, but unique in its vegetation and wildlife. It was a very peaceful evening. The staff was just as friendly and welcoming. You have access to a range of watersports, a swmming pool, and the beach. We would definitely recommend and we will be revisiting when time allows

This is Jean Claude Bessudo’s best work and project to date.
Aviatur built an oasis in nature WITHOUT disturbing it.
Nature is the star of this resort - as it should be.
The staff is super attentive and the facilities are well maintained.
The food options are plentiful and delicious.
The National Aviary of Colombia is close by and is not to be missed.
I am of Colombian descent and will return.
It’s just beautiful.

our anniversary trip had an extremely bitter beginning. We drove over an hour to get to the hotel once we attempted to check in but were denied access to our bungalow because we had left our passport in our hotel in cartagena (were only going to stay for 1 night). Our family member would send through text a photo of our passport. i spoke with general manager and was told the same thing that their policy would not allow me to go to the room (which is paid for through hotels.com not the hotel) we explained that they would get the copy through text once our family member got back to where our luggage with passport was but was again told no. we sat for almost two hours in the lobby being attacked by mosquitos. i asked to purchase mosquito repelant and was told they didnt have any until the reception gave me some almost gone bottle from a co-worker. when the passport finally came in they changed completely. Like nothing had happened. we were taken on a boat to our bungalow. The place was breathtaking beautiful pool room. we were given a welcome drink. unfortunately the telephone in room did not work and they attempted to fix that day and came back the next day and finally got it fixed. I got stuck in the shower because sliding door wouldnt slide.we ordered a floating breakfast for the next morning for 9;00 am, we did not get it until 10:15! they did end up giving us credit for it and the food was delicious. after so many issues we were a late checkout

The property is beautiful but I can only give 2 stars after deducting a star for each of the following: Service, started by giving us a cheaper room that we booked, pools are fill with seawater and no cleaned properly, outdoor shower was broken, they couldn’t fix it and ignored our follow ups, they try to inflate our final bill with mini bar items that we didn’t consumed. Location, very sketchy to get to the hotel you have to drive through one of the worst unpaved roads in Cartagena where you can get mugged anytime, the beach is super small and the water smells and dirty like in a Laguna. We tried to relax in the pool in our bungalow but there are hundreds of boats going back and forth all day, local people super aggressive try to rent you jet ski all the time, they even come right in front of your bungalow by water. You are going to be isolated from everything so you can only buy food, drinks or anything you might need from the hotel and their prices are outrageous.

The villas are extremely close to each other with little to no visual barriers between them. From the pool of both of our rooms (we requested to change rooms) our neighbors could openly see into our bedroom.
If you are looking for a romantic getaway with that special someone hope and pray the villas next to you are empty.
The breakfast buffet was amazing. Restaurant on the beach was good with great customer service.
The private island looked abandoned with the entire beach flooded with massive amounts of dead algae, it’s like no one cares to even try to keep it clean.
This place overall has the potential to be a 10/10, but the lack of privacy kills it. From our “private pool” you can see the workers passing by, neighbors and even see into other villas.
It appears they tried to fix this with some vegetation and privacy walls, but the vegetation is half dead and the privacy walls are not complete or are poorly made.

Very romantic and secluded. It is truly one with nature and there were animals wandering around the entire property. The only drawbacks would be how spread out the property is (but that is mitigated by golf cart transportation) and the lack of multiple restaurants which limits the choices of meal choices.

I would absolutely recommend it for a 3-4 night vacation!

Hotel has cool rooms and you get around the island with bikes. Food is good, breakfast included. It’s a bit overpriced given some of it looks a bit rough around the edges. Staff are ok, but service needs an improvement. We went to the other little island by boat to sunbathe by the pool as areas in the sun are limited by the main beach. We took 8 litres of water with us for our 3 night stay as we read other reviews saying you can only by $8 water bottles when there. This is a must if you want to stay hydrated and not have a massive bill!! The only free water you get is a small jug in your room each day, even at breakfast there is no free water. They say they are on of the world’s most sustainable hotels, but the only water available is San Pellegrino shipped in glass bottles from Italy… that’s not at all sustainable!

Do not drink the jugs of ‘drinking water’!

Beautiful place with amazing staff, but tainted by the ‘drinking water’ and being very ill for a week.
In our hut we had a mini bar (with v expensive bottles of water). There were water jugs of iced water with glasses next to it in the room. Everyone knows not to drink the tap water but surely I could drink the water that they refreshed daily in the room? It appears not. I was extremely ill from drinking this. The onsite doctor gave me medication and suddenly we were brought cartons of drinking water!! Why on earth were we not automatically given these? Not only did this experience ruin 3 of my 4 days at the hotel, but my journey back to the UK via Bogota was hideous. It has taken me a week to recover. Although my husband didn’t get ill both friends of ours, who we crossed over with for a day, were also ill in the same way.
Locals coming on holiday here I have no doubt would be ok with the water but to not supply safe drinking water automatically for everyone is a huge oversight. It rendered the stay a complete waste of money!
We were unable to enjoy the hotel to its’ fullest.. what a shame.

I would not recommend this hotel. The idea of having your own pool and bungalow sounds nice, but the pool and patio is dirty. The doors in the bungalow are not easily opened. They are also covered w thick wood shutters so you can’t see the ocean from inside your bungalow. The property needs a good cleaning and sweeping every where.

Overall guest experience did not meet our standards for a 5 star resort. Our check-in was 2.5 hours late, due to what we were told was a faulty room issue, however it later transpired our original room was given to another couple who found the \"isleta\" rooms (there's a main island resort and a smaller island with a handful of rooms) too loud due to the party boat noise. We were told we were upgraded but in fact it was the opposite: the rooom was exactly the same but with loud noise, the \"Isleta\" restaurant aleo had significantly less choice than the main island. We always value transparency however felt rather betrayed the way the overall communication from reception was handled, no one at any stage apologised. The quality of the food was poor, fish was over cooked and pasta very over cooked, most dishes were poorly seasoned. For the price we paid for dinner (on average $150 USD per couple) was far too much for the quality we recieved. We felt the restaurant lacked a competent chef running the pass as we were shocked they allowed food to sent to tables like that. On checkout we had two spa treatments and a lunch meal on our bill which were not ours, it transpires it was the room who they swapped when we check-in but had still remained on our bill. Overall staff were very charming but serious lack of management and a competent executive chef. Be mindful of booking a room on the \"isleta\", the day boat partys are very loud and can still be heard is side cabins.

Hotel tried to scam us! Beware!

Nice hotel, good food and service. The beach is also ok, although it is not turquoise water or crystal clear. My partner and I stayed in a bungalow in Isleta, which is a private island, part of the hotel. To get there, you must take a short boat ride. Although we had a good time, it’s definitely not deserving of 5 stars. It is more of a four star hotel. Also, the hotel tried to scam us upon check out. The hotel tried to charge $600 US dollars to our room for charges we did not make. This left a bad taste in our mouth and as a result, I would not recommend staying here. We literally had to ask for an itemized bill and go through each charge in order to dispute the fictitious charges. Once I asked to speak with a manager and argued the fraudulent charges they finally agreed to deduct them from our bill. We asked for an explanation and a response from management but to date have not received one. Although it is reputed to be the best hotel in the area, I would hot recommend this hotel. If you do decide to stay here, make sure you take a picture of every receipt and bill at the restaurants and bars. I assure you they will also try to scam you. It is a real shame. For this reason, I am giving this hotel one star.

Las Islas is amazing. The boat ride from Cartagena was easy and once there, it’s everything you’d hoped for.

The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. From fruit to seafood, everything is fresh and expertly prepared.

Their private island (in addition to the island you’re on) is worth a day trip. And it’s all extremely walkable, though you can call for a golf cart anytime and it’s there in a couple minutes if you need it.

You won’t regret the stay. We’ll be coming back!

Las Islas bungalows are gorgous but the property is over grown and is located ina dangerous / extremely poor and terribly difficult place to get to. If you stay on the island the food is horrific. Breakfast is a complete joke at this price point. The bungalows on the water are very nice but they are starting to become out of repair - we had to move from unit 66 because it was close to the party island next door with loud music playing all day and the restaurant next door which is horrific. We moved to unit 62 but then the AC did not work. Moved to Tree House on mainland and there is no view / just in the branches. The road into the facility is DANGEROUS do not attempt to drive and filled with people trying to rob and beg and stopping traffic etc. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I recently spent three days and three nights at Las Islas on the Baru Peninsula, and it was an unforgettable experience. I stayed on the main island and had the chance to experience both a treetop bungalow and a private bungalow on the beach. The resort is nestled deep in nature, and you really feel a sense of immersion, with iguanas, monkeys, and other wildlife all around. It was unlike anywhere I’ve ever stayed—truly close to nature in every sense.

The guest service at Las Islas was exceptional, with staff always ready to assist and make sure every detail of your stay is perfect. The food was amazing, with lots of fresh seafood and local flavors. Every meal was a treat, and it added to the overall experience of being in such a beautiful, remote location.

One of the highlights was watching the sunsets from the third-level bar in the clubhouse. They were absolutely stunning! You can enjoy the view with a drink in hand or use the high-powered telescope at night for some incredible stargazing—an experience that really adds to the magic of the place.

There’s no shortage of activities at the resort. You can snorkel, kayak, or just explore the island. It’s a fantastic getaway for adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts. However, it’s important to note that the hotel is quite a distance from Cartagena. We opted for ground transportation, which took about two hours from the airport. I would suggest that the property include transport for guests rather than charge.

Beautiful property with beautiful lodgings. Excellent service 24 hours.
Great dining options and beautiful restaurants.
We reserved one treehouse and one seaside room. The treehouse had a rat in it that would come out at night only and scurry around and chew on walls, carpet, bed edges, etc. We called the concierge on the first night and they did send someone who used a stick and chased it out of the wall. But 20 minutes later, it was back. So every night we would just lower the mosquito netting and tuck it in under the mattress and lie awake listening to “Harold” have a grand old time right next to us.
We reported this when we checked out, and the concierge just apologized and told us this was unexceptable, but charged us full price for our stay!
The seaside room had no rats, no concerns, and was beautiful.
We went snorkeling and scuba diving. Both were amazing.
We rode bikes all over the property which was fun.
Overall, had a wonderful and memorable stay. Would have just preferred our treehouse not have been double booked with a rat😊

Amazing staff, always available. Bungalow had issues with the doors and windows, some of them wouldn’t close, doors for access to the pool were very difficult to open or close. Our bungalow had issues with the phone since day one and was never fixed, we had to use the intercom located outside to place room service order, contact receptionist, etc. ( the staff who was sent wanted to help and fix the issue but you don’t want someone in your room 2-3 hours for 2 days while you are on vacation). For the price I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.

This property gives you the ability to disconnect from city life. The staff is amazing and very attentive. Please note that this bungalow hotel is an hour and thirty minutes away from Central Cartagena. The hotel provides transportation if you are looking to do activities away from the hotel premises and they are very punctual with pickup and providing you a safe ride back to the hotel.

Great looking hotel. But up close it needs a lot of maintenance. Our main issue though was the food. The hotel is expensive, the food is incredibly expensive and terrible quality with too few options to stay for more than a day at most. If you’re a Drinker you’ll be paying stratospheric mark ups for the pleasure of your bottle of wine.

Food and drinks were 2/3x more expensive than anywhere else we had been in Colombia which was frustrating as you had to eat there and the quality wasn’t 2/3x better. They said they have 3 restaurants but really there is only one. They seemed to deliberately force you into buying water which again frustrating at £5 for a small bottle of water. Some of the facilities were quite run down and not in keeping with the standard of the hotel. The main pool was weirdly placed making it essentially unusable. On the island you couldn’t order food to the beach and had to sit in a very dark empty restaurant to eat and finally the lack of music in the communal spaces feel very flat and slightly awkward

Good hotel. water in the private pool needs to be clean, its just sea water filled in a pool. Great dining options.. v convenient boatride to the private island from the main resort.

Every little thing other than the room was just an add-on expense which was a bit weird, but at least the service was good.

The room itself was amazing and the views were stunning

Las Islas is a beautiful property located about an hour and a half outside the main city of Cartagena. It gives a bit of a glamping vibe which is nice. Our bungalow was situated quite a walk from the reception and dining options, so we relied on requesting a golf cart to get around. The stay at the resort was going well until about the 3-day when we opted to leave the resort and spend the day in Cartagena. When we returned to the resort, turndown service had taken place and we decided to stay in for most of the 4-day and order room service. While preparing for dinner, we noticed a gold necklace was missing from a small jewelry bag, that was not left out in sight, but placed in a slightly larger bag with hair supplies. After thoroughly searching the bathroom, luggage, safe and room it was clear that it was missing and someone may have gone through our stuff. After calling the front desk and reporting the item missing I was assured they would reach out. We went to dinner and on the way back, stopped by the reception and asked for an update. At that point, I was asked to write down my phone number and told that someone from guest services would reach out they were waiting on housekeeping to update them. The following morning was check out, no update had been provided or contact made. During checkout, I once again asked about the missing piece, and the receptionist took a picture of the matching bracelet and once again requested my info. A week later and no one has contacted us.

Nice resort; a little tired in spots but nice staff, quirky, but charming rooms. Stayed in a tree house and then a sea view room; which I ended up preferring. Climbing the steps to the treehouse got old quickly. Spa is nice and I had great massage. Water in Ocean was a little murky, restaurants were hit or miss. Breakfast was good.

The grounds and buildings are excellent, nside thick jungle on a small beachfront. The location is as safe as it gets in Columbia. Also, RELIABLY GOOD weather in January. We had no rain, air and water 30 degrees for two weeks and BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS every night. The downside was sketchy service. The satff are kind, but they are from a very poor local community. They are trained and some speak some English, but things fall through the cracks. Like, they would forget to change towels, replensih coffee pods, not sweep the deck well etc. It seemed there was a degree of randomnes in the housekeeping.

Going for a day trip to Cartagena is a must.

If you are a SCUBA diver, ask them to take you on the outer side of the Rosario islands. Coral is different there and visibility is better. Also, a small shipwreck was interesting.

Eco- luxury at the tip of Barú

Amazing eco-friendly luxury experience in Barú at Las Isla. The service was 5 stars, anything you need they bring you fast. We stayed in a treetop room, which was so private and quiet. They have their own private island, a boat that takes you there in 5mins at anytime. Happily no issue with bugs or mosquitoes in December when we visited. Weather was perfect and waters warm and refreshing. Food is good, but very high priced for Colombia. This destination is romantic and great for couples, as well for families that just want to relax. I highly recommend having the hotel arrange a boat to take you to the hotel from Cartagena, it is a fun 45 min ride. You will get a little wet, but they store luggage away so don’t worry it’s protected. You also take a taxi but takes longer about 1-1/2 hours.

Paradise for introverted couples

Amazing place and amazing service. Loved every facet of our stay. The staff attend to every detail and you aren’t left wanting for anything. We enjoyed 3 days and nights. Breakfast was perfect. Absolutely the best way to start the day. The private island was amazing for privacy swimming. The food at all the restaurants was terrific! They arranged our transportation to and from the resort. They also arranged and outing for us to the national aviary and toll at night to see bioluminescent plankton. We also enjoyed a couples massage on site. Book this place now!

Blissful stay in Baru

This is an amazing venue and our bungaloo was wonderful with its very own tiny swimming pool.
The beach is lovely. Bicycles are available for riding within the resort and service with golf carts is prompt.
Service is first rate and all have the most wonderful and positive attitudes.
I worry a bit about maintenance for the resort, which is only 5 years old. Being so close to salt water, maintainance for all things metalic must be especially high order.

The property is BEAUTIFUL, the food is DELICIOUS, the entire staff is EXCELLENT, and the restaurants, bar, and beaches are EXCELLENT...The only thing is that will be supper helpful and convenient for the guests if the property is fumigated daily for 2 a week at least, the mosquitos do not let you enjoy the rooms or the amenities outside the room.

Las Islas is a beautiful property set in the tropical forest right on the ocean. The bungalows are comfortable and private. The beach was comfortable for sunbathing and swimming. The dining facilities are very comfortable and the food was great. The staff were friendly and very respectful and helpful. We stayed at the property for 3 days and nights, and did not leave (the town of Baru was dirty and we did not feel comfortable visiting it). I highly recommend Las Islas for a tropical vacation on the beach.

This property is a piece of paradise! The beauty of the setting along with the comfort of the treehouses, we loved every minute of our stay. The staff is amazing and prompt. The spa is serene and I had truly the best massage of my life under the care of Ester. The other staff members from waiters to golf cart drivers to beach attendants were friendly and always helpful and prompt in their service. Our treehouse was amazing and comfortable and every detail was well thought out…for example, ice maker in room! Also a hammock which was super comfy! We woke every morning to beautiful birds singing happily. Well worth seeking out the monkeys which live also on property. To the reviews who mentioned their breakfasts weren’t always as requested, keep in mind that the majority of staff speak their native language of Spanish and little English. I’m sure if they ordered breakfast to me in Spanish, I would also not get it exactly right. The 2 beaches were equally amazing! The private beach club is about a 5 minute boat ride and is well worth the effort. It was closed one day for a private event so be sure to ask the schedule so you don’t miss out. Transport to and from the resort is a bit tricky. Car from Cartegena easy and just over an hour. We took boat back and it is indeed a wild ride of about an hour. If you are at all prone to motion sickness or have any physical conditions that are aggravated by jarring, do yourself a favor and take taxi. Overall, fantastic stay!
