The room was absolutely beautiful and clean, very modern. There are plenty of sun loungers and cabanas even when the day trip people arrive and the staff are lovely and very accommodating. The only negative thing to mention is the amount of rubbish that washes up on the beach, perhaps there needs to be some intervention as when we went to look at other hotel beaches (in the mornings when it was very windy at ours) there were staff in the water with large nets scooping out rubbish and their beaches were much cleaner. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and not unlike prices in the restaurants in Cartagena. Breakfast buffet was great. Over all a fabulous experience and we wish we were here longer.

We were a family of 4 in a small little bungalow with its private terrace, hammocks, and looking rifht at the Ocean. The room was comfortable and very nicely decorated. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were here many year ago and it has gotten better and better. We will return many times, I'm sure.

A very nice tranquil hotel in the Rosario Islands. The rooms are villas spread out throughout the property. I was only one night during a dive trip. Definitely nicer than some of the other spots we passed by boat. I’d stay again.

Fantastic experience. I stayed in the Macabi suite for 2 nights and it was perfect. The front desk man (didn’t get his name) was very helpful and Ever in the restaurant was so personable and kind. All of the staff were attentive and kind. The food is delicious as well. I will definitely be back

The hotel and island were beautiful. Very quiet. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Some of the staff speak English and Spanish. But most only speak Spanish. So if your Spanish is limited you may need to use a translator on your phone. But it is pretty easy to order food and plan activities even if your spanish is limited. It is possible to do almost everything with a credit card or US dollars. But I recommend bringing colombian mil pesos as it will be much easier. The food was amazing. I especially loved the \"limonadas de cocos\" (Coconut Lemonades). The snorkeling was amazing. The trees and water are gorgeous. It was like something out of a magazine. It was very cool to be able to kayak from mini island to mini island. I never had any problems with wifi or data. I splurged a lot on food and excursions but it actually turned out to be cheaper than I expected. The island was not packed with residents when we went, which was fantastic as the beaches were quiet and private. The spa is very relaxing. They have a lagoon on the island with bioluminescent plankton in the water at night. Very cool! The room can be locked and also has a safe. I felt very safe and secure on the island. No risk of theft or crime. My only complaint is the hot water did not work in our shower and they only put 2 towels in our room. But otherwise it was perfect. Probably the most beautiful vacation I have ever had. I would highly recommend it.

I had a great overnight stay at Majagua. They have 2 beaches conveniently located on the property with different vines. They have great food options at the restaurant. My room was also super comfortable and nice. Highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the island.

We loved our time at this property. We didn't utilize the eco tours. We rented bikes one day but honestly there isn't very good signage indicating which dirt path goes where so we turned around. The staff and the hotel are great, the food is fantastic and we were blessed with great weather.

Staff was nice and they work hard to make you happy, however, a lot of improvement in the facility is needed. There’s no hot water at all. You need to take cold showers. The water pressure is also minimal. Rooms are fine, but the entire hotel is under construction so it’s very noisy all day. There’s nothing to do there other than two tiny beaches (enough to fit like 6 chairs each). No pools, no gift shops like the they say, not even different restaurants/ food. You get stuck in an island with the same food starting at a super tiny beach and that’s all. Not worth it at all.

Our stay was very unsatisfactory. For the very high price paid we received: (1) rooms unfit for 4 persons and totally unprepared, (2) no hot water at all and/or very low pressure cold water, (3) no reaction from the hotel for 3 days as to our complaints (!), (4) nobody from hotel spoke English, (5) 2-hours long check-in, (6) the entire \"paradisal\" facility under construction, (7) dirty sunbeds and many more.
Problem 1.
In one bungalow we found the room with beds for only 3 people (1 double bed and 1 single bed). The hotel's solution was absurd! They added an extra bed to one of the bungalows. Since the bungalows are very small, the bed was placed in the middle of the room. The bed obstructed the access to the wardrobe and to the bathroom! The coffee table was moved to the bathroom! The entire room looked like a one big bed (see the photo)!
Also another room is not suitable for a stay of 4 people. Although formally there was a couch which could allow for additional 2 people to stay, the standard is unacceptable. Two people must “cross each other” and the beds were extremely short.

For 3 days the hotel was not able to provide us hot water.

For 3 days after the complaint nobody bothered to contact us. ONLY after we decided to make a scene (which was very unpleasant), the manager magically showed up and after hours of shouting, gave us around 17% discount.

This is the best you are going to get on this island I think. The staff was great except of a couple of the eco-guides who have serious machismo attitude. Jeffrey was amazing though who took us to see the bioluminescent plankton. Also Andreas with the snorkeling team.

This is a unique location and experience. Due to the remoteness of the island, the services and options are limited. We spent 2 nights at the hotel which was more than enough. We saw mostly day trippers come to the island. The boat services to/from Cartagena is a bit of a hassle, there is no flexibility in the schedule and you can only leave or come at the same time every day if you are not willing to hire your own charter. I thought the food at the restaurant was fine but can get boring with no other options. I highly recommend doing a canoe tour of the mangroves, getting a massage and exploring the island and other resorts on foot. The island and beaches are stunning.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel San Pedro de Majagua. We selected this hotel based on the article in the Travel&Leisure magazine, which listed it as the best place to stay on the island. It's a beautiful property with only 17 bungalows with a wide range of activities (snorkeling, kayaking, massage, etc.) being easily arranged and well executed). We travel a lot and typically stay at somewhat upscale accommodations and were happy with our stay on all fronts. In addition to great accommodations, the hotel's restaurant is wonderful with a large variety of fresh caught seafood dishes. We ate there lunches and dinners in addition to a good breakfast included. Hotel stuff is very nice and helpful. Eveline, who is the best English speaker on site, at the front desk is wonderful. She is always ready to help and does it very efficient always with a smile on her face. The hotel is lucky to have her as an employee. Jader, the captain in charge of the restaurant, is also very helpful. We had some work being done in front of our bungalow when we arrived. Eveline immediately took care of this issue moving us to the more spacious upgraded room (without any additional pay) for the remainder of our stay. Would definitely stay at the hotel if we come back. Very much recommended.

This was hands down the most relaxing portion of our Cartagena trip! Property was beautiful. When we first got there we were greeted by the staff . As the the second day came around the staff seemed bothered to serve you . They ignore the guest and the hotel had a terrible way of doing business. They book visitation from day tripper’s and basically the beach amenities are 1st come 1st serve for everyone. They focused on the day trippers since they already have your money . We found better service at another place where we walked to everyday and really only utilized our resort just to sleep . One of the beaches was closed and catering to the day trippers and guest was like playing musical chairs . I can say that I was very dissatisfied since it had high ratings . The front desk though were very nice and answered all questions. The atmosphere as fell very uptight and you couldn’t play music neither they played music . There were dogs and cats roaming the property and is you gave a little food to these poor animals the staff was rude by telling you to not feed them because it attracted flies . I guess I understood what they were asking you to do but they were very rude specially the older servers who seemed to run the place , total disorganization of who was taking care of what guest . I hope someone reads this and makes changes to this beautiful resort before the big companies start moving in and provide better service to their guest and friendliness and the resort becomes a third class or lower resort .

This majestic island paradise actually makes luxurious travel seem affordable, especially considering that you are on an island where everything has to be brought from the mainland, with the exception of all the delicious sea critters of course, which will see their fates sealed inside of your bellies.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff is lovely, everyone there is extremely helpful and friendly, the grounds are beautiful and constantly upkept, and last but not least, the food is spectacular!
Go there during the low season and it will feel like your own private island, specially after the “day pass” guests leave at 3pm. Support the local economy and buy some gifts and souvenirs from the local salesmen, who are authorized by the hotel and don’t harass you while you’re trying to relax.

Amazing hotel in the Rosario Islands
There's only one way to arrive and that is on a speed boat. Once you arrive on the island, you're greeted with picturesque scenery and a refreshing tropical juice. The rooms are comfortable, big and very modern. The restaurant is delicious and the staff is always ready to lend a hand when needed. We stayed there while on a scuba trip with Diving Planet Cartagena and were very glad we stayed here. Would definitely return!!

A hotel in Paradise but
The rosario islands are a true paradise. The bad review is only for two reasons: first.. they have two different menus (see picture). If you ask for the menu in Spanish you should get the normal one but sometimes they randomly change to the more expensive one on the second day. To the gringos they bring the more expensive one.
Second, the hotel stuff is 99% men and most try to sell you something and some even follow you to the room to do so. Sad to still experience the same kind of herassment as in Cartagena. Otherwise its a truly amazing place!

We arranged 5 dives over 2 days with Diving Planet. Since they pick up and drop off from Hotel San Pedro de Majagua, we decided to stay here overnight. This place is AMAZING! The staff are extremely attentive and seemed to be reading our minds as they had things prepared for us before we could even ask! After one of our dives, they brought us a lunch menu to the dock so we could order, shower, and then have a delicious lunch ready for us when we were clean! Even with my kindergarten-level Spanish, we were able to communicate effectively with every staff member from the front desk to the restaurant staff. We had a beautiful Valentine's Day dinner in our room after our night dive. We had some time before our departure and took a guided 1-hour ride around the island.
Our visit was a year into the pandemic, so there weren't very many guests at the resort and not much to do in the evening. If you are looking for an beautifully exclusive romantic indulgent stay, Hotel San Pedro de Majagua is the place to go!

The only good thing about this place is how beautiful the island itself is. Otherwise they price gauge you for everything. The AC broke in our bungalow, we couldn’t check in until hours after they claimed our check in time was, the food was costly (for Colombia) and not very good. The service was pretty terrible. But the island itself is stunning.

Beautiful hotel & staff was good in the dining room & on tne beach. Very much a problem coordinating with the front desk staff boats on & off the island. Also once we did finally coordinate a boat to Cartagena, the boat was not in good service & stopped a couple of times to service on the trip. Very unnerving, also it was not the boat i was shown i was taking the day before & its not the hotel boat so you have to pay direct/pesos . If they get more efficient staff on the front desk this hotel would do better. Excellent food & large menu which is good because you are basically eating there the whole time. The island has no ATM, which could also be a problem, especially exiting on the boats. E had nice weather but be aware in Jan there are very rough waters on this beach.

We’ve not found Colombia the best for food anyway so this shpouldn’t put you off staying here. 3 nights is enough time on the island should you have travelling plans.

The food was very good-lots of choice and all day service but no room service or laundry service. We couldn’t get a proper cup of tea or a cappuccino which we missed over our 5 day stay!
The rooms are beautiful and well air conditioned but showing some wear in places-our windows and shutters weren’t properly secure. The water in the shower wasn’t always hot, unfortunately. The private outdoor terrace to our room was lovely with its sofas, lamps and hammocks.
The resort is quite isolated and unless you love water-based activity there’s not a great deal else to do. The hotel is an hours boat ride away from Cartagena port. With only one boat out (8.30am) and one back (4pm) each day, so you have to fit around the hotel boat schedule.
Mosquitoes are a problem so take lots of repellent spray, but there’s no malaria risk.
The spa offers outdoor (but private!) massages and manicure/pedicure-not other treatments.
There’s lots to do in the sea-snorkelling, diving, paddle boarding, kayaking, but not many other activities apart from relaxing on the beach. There’s no opportunity for walking, no gym, no shops, and nothing for children.

Isla Rosario is a small island which must bring mos supplies from Cartagena, an hour fast boat ride awy. Thus, basics are expensive. AC made out bungalo comfortable, but not cool.Their safe is not bolted down, so could be easily carried awy. Regardless, the island is safe. We took a bike ride around on the foot paths. Interesting to see how the people live. (They are mostly poor) Also took canoe trip through mangrove lagoons, which was neat.

Pros: The boat ride and check-in process were well organized. Rooms are clean, and well kept overall. The views from the island and hotel’s location in general were great!

A Very Nice Island Retreat
San Pedro de Majagua exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean, the wifi and A/C worked well, and the location was perfect for our three day scuba diving trip with Diving Planet. A very nice surprise was the quality of the food. It is not often that you can find fine dining on a small island.

Getting to the hotel was very well-organized. It's about a 1-hour boatride, which was comfortable going there (but coming back was quite rough and everyone got soaked). Warmest ocean water ever with a very beautiful color. We didn't like the fact that every day they allow outsiders to come and hassle you to buy their artisanals. Even a guy from the hotel called us over and offered us to rent his boat for the day--super inappropriate. Food was OK. We stayed 3 days, 2 nights, which I think was too much because you are limited to their one restaurant for every meal.
