The most comfortable beds and pillows! Room was a bit dark and dated looking vs what I was expecting but very comfortable. In a great location for the main train station and local buses made our sightseeing trips time efficient. Breakfast was good with lots of choices but the arrival at breakfast and having to wait to be escorted to a table was very slow and frustrating. Only 2 washing machines in the laundry room which is not a lot for a hotel of this size. Overall happy with this hotel and would stay here again.

We had great stay here while in Kyoto. Easy access to the train station and friendly staff as well. The breakfast is a must while staying here. It's got good variety and a salad bar for all your daily fiber intake. There's always a line forming outside the restaurant in the morning, but once it's moving, just a few minutes of wait. The room was very nice. Spacious and the bed was so comfortable. I like a softer bed and a lot of beds in Japan are way too firm. This one was perfect and I slept great. The staff was very nice, the rooms clean and spacious, and the location barely 10 minutes walk from Nagoya station.

However, unlike all of the Japanese hotels we stayed at during this 3 week trip there were no hand sanitizer stations to be found.

This was especially concerning at the self serve buffet where there was no opportunity for you to wash or sanitize tour hands after using the buffet utensils.

Amazing stay in Kyoto. We loved everything about this hotel. The location is convenient, room quiet and clean, shower is very comfortable. The staff here is absolutely amazing! Special compliment to Ms. Hazuki Hatasa, the supervisor at the executive lounge. Her energy and enthusiasm is infectious! Between her and the team there, we felt like coming home every time we visited the lounge. Will definitely stay again next time we are in Kyoto!

Every table is given a \"Table Occupancy Card\" where guests can comfortably leave the dining table without worrying that it's may be taken by another guest whole collecting food or waiters clearing the table when guests or when guests are not at the table but haven't leave the restaurant yet. Upon leaving, guests will return the card to the reception.
Many hotels including those 5 stars hotel perch can adopt this concept

Easy access to station, staff were extremely helpful and sorted out luggage forwarding within minutes. Didn't have breakfast but we noticed there was a big queue out the door at 7:30.
Not enough washing machines for demand and the dry setting didn't dry the clothes fully.
Room was pleasant and happy hour at the bar was great!

Can't say I was overall impressed with this hotel. It was close to the station, that was nice. Not too far a walk to a major street with things to see and shop. It was mostly the club lounge that was incredibly disappointing. Not only was it very bare and had only basic amenities, they also have a 90 minute stay policy and close down everything at 8pm. Certainly not worth upgrading the club lounge at this place.

There were 3 beds for the 3 of us adults but no where near enough room for 3 people to have luggage with them. The breakfast quality was also very so-so. My stay at the Double Tree was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is very close to the train station (and a Shinkansen no less!) and a 7/11, which is great for getting cash on the go. From the moment we walked in we were impressed. The hotel lobby smelled amazing and had a relaxing atmosphere. The clerks were helpful in both English and Japanese, and they even went the extra mile to show us their recommendations for things to do around Kyoto. The upgrade to executive level is definitely worth the money. The bathroom in our suite was stunning, and cleaned thoroughly every day. The room was spacious, and even the floor outside the elevator sparkled. The most worthwhile thing was the executive suite breakfast on the top floor. Both the Japanese style and American style breakfasts were delicious. I miss the tater tots and the fresh strawberry jam every day. And I never thought I would eat mackerel for breakfast, but it was just that good. The breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

If we ever come back to Kyoto, we are DEFINITELY staying here again. And if we go anywhere else in Japan, we’ll stay at Double Tree Hilton properties only. This changed the game! 10/10 would recommend.

We loved our time in Kyoto staying at the Double Tree near the Shinkansen station. The room was elegant, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was superb! Fitness center was just right, and not too busy. Such a great place! Only areas for improvement would be to add additional laundry machines and additional parking spaces.

Service absolutely above and beyond any expectations. My wife had an injury to her ankle while on vacation and the staff at this hotel went the extra mile to make sure she was comfortable and taken care of for several days while she healed up. They made calls to local clinics and gave us recommendations, provided a wheelchair, received and delivered amazon packages, made special accommodations at breakfast for her and provided us a late checkout to make sure we were comfortable. The entire staff is just amazing and Murat in particular was a personal point of contact for us for any type of help we needed. In addition, the location of the hotel next to Kyoto station is just perfect for getting to Tokyo, Osaka, and Nara and tons of new restaurants and a shopping center all within walking distance. They have comfortable rooms that are immaculate and a delicious breakfast but what made them stand out for us is how ready and willing they were to help when we needed it. I would recommend the hotel to everyone.

Loved the ambience. However, the soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner had a very strong scent, which could be an issue for those with allergies or sensitivities. I would have appreciated it if the staff had refilled the amenities in the room daily. Other than that, I would still recommend staying here.

My first clue something was off was being asked when checking in, \"do you want to pay up front or at the end of your stay?\" Um, at the end, of course (do they charge hourly, too?). My second was the concierge (who was otherwise the most helpful person on staff) suggesting we go eat at their ridiculously overpriced buffet instead of recommending something outside the hotel without informing us that they were closing 15 minutes later. After taking our money, the dining staff made sure we were aware they were wrapping it up and gave us side eye while we surveyed the picked over remains we had to choose from.

The room itself was nice (best part of the hotel). We were paying for two rooms: my wife and I had a room, and our son had one down the hall. We had arrived and checked in separately, my son first, and then later that day we did and informed the staff we would be paying for both. However, when we checked out 3 days later, we discovered they had charged our son the entirety of his room on his personal card UP FRONT (what hotel chain of this size does this?) when he gave it to them to guarantee his room and check in early. A refund was issued, but took days to process and could have been avoided entirely.

This hotel seems UNDER-staffed at the busiest times of the day (check in/check out), OVER-staffed the rest of the time (and in both cases have no time for guest pleasantries) and is the sole reason for the 2-star review.

This hotel is only let down by woefully insufficient laundry facilities for guests. There are just two washer/driers for the whole property, they are constantly in use, and after multiple attempts to use the facilities and being met with a queue of people, I set an alarm and went down before 5am and still had to sit there for hours waiting for the machines to become free. This is really important for guests traveling with children and needs reviewing by hotel management.

The staff are very accommodating, helpful and supportive and understanding especially with my family situation when my son is sick and I ask for early check out and refund for the remaining days that I can’t stay longer because we need to fly back home early due to my son is sick.
