It was a great spot. Very beautiful and unique building and grounds. Lots of wildlife was seen, birds and deer. The rooms are spacious and unique, very clean. A well appointed kitchen for common use. Excellent value. We need to be in the Plattsburgh area again in a few weeks and have already reserved a room again.

The balcony was so nice with a beautiful view and provided a nice quiet place to read a book and relax. The fireplace in our room wasn’t working when we arrived and when we asked for help someone was there very quickly and got it working for us. The kitchen was well stocked and provided a place for our family to be together wheelie preparing our dinner. The fireplace in the lodge was so beautiful and well stocked so starting it up was easy. They were able to quickly accommodate our request to add an additional room for our grown daughters who were visiting. The whole experience was absolutely perfect.

This is a beautiful property. Our room was clean and smelled clean. The king bed in the Feather room was very comfortable. The water was hot. There are no televisions in the rooms. It has a full kitchen that you can use and store your items in the fridge. There is a shared dining space and common room.

This is an electronic DYI check-in / check-out arrangement. Guests help each other with problems. Owners are remote and available only by phone or text. Front door access keypad was broken. Other keypads worked after several tries. Property was nice inside, but we felt unsure about staying at a lodge where the doors might or might not open for us after we returned from a walk or a restaurant or to our locked room from the shared areas of the lodge. If the locks are upgraded it will be a good place to stay for independent minded people.

The lodge looks great from the outside and in. Our room was very pleasant and spacious, with a chimney, solid-wood furniture, a large jacuzzi tub and a big bathroom. It overlooked the front of the property through sliding doors. However, it was directly facing the road, which was not ideal. That wouldn't have been a problem if the sliding doors could be shut all the way, whigh they couldn't. Worse, it was infested with ladybugs that were flying all over the room. The door leading into the room was difficult to open. You had to push it hard to get it to open, after entering the code. So overall, it was a very pretty lodge dampened only by a lack of proper maintenance and cleaning. I was a bit disappointed as I had expected "excellence", as the ratings indicated when I looked for a place to stay.

My bed in the Angler room was very uncomfortable. It was a very poor mattress. I wouldn't want to stay here again because of that. Everything else was very nice, very clean and quiet, very up to date. Need recycling containers though.

While otherwise everything was excellent, I have to strongly downgrade the place for the following reason. This is a concierge-less fully automated property. We got there exactly at 4, and the front door did not open w the provided pin. After trying several times, my wife discovered that an additional button had to be pushed, while I was on the phone unsuccessfully trying to get somebody on the provided phone number. This button was not disclosed in the instructions. That took 10 minutes. Then we went to the room provided in the original Expedia communications (each room had a name, not a number) and the provided pin again did not work. After a number of tries, the person I reached on the phone gave me the name and instructions to get to the room and it was not the original room. We went to the new room and the code again did not work. A worker in the house tried to help us but she had no means to access the necessary info, so she went on the same phone numbers to call the remote office. We in the meantime tried the room again, and then all the other rooms there in case we misunderstood the name, without success. Both the worker and I finally reached the office and verified that the code and new room were correct, and with her help we were finally able to enter it after the 3rd try! It turned out that both the front door and especially the room door were sticking and did not open even with the correct pin. It was now 4:35 and we were bushed and greatly upset.

I loved the common areas was unaware when booking that we would have access to cook in the beautiful kitchen. This place hits more like a VRBO home, would love to bring more family and book more rooms for another stay. having the state park directly across from the lodge was a huge plus as was the 3 car garage game room. Only down side, and it might just be me, was no TV in the room.

WEIRD and IMPERSONAL- Feel obliged to warn people. I arrived and let myself in w provided code on keypad. I had the name of my room but didn't know where it was. I walked down the first floor hall and it wasn't there. I lugged my suitcase up the stairs, walked up and down that hall and it wasn't there either. I called the provided phone number. Asked the "concierge" and he said he didn't know because he was an hour away and had never been to the property ! but to "look for another staircase somewhere."

Finally I found a guest who told me she thought there was a staircase through the kitchen. That's where my room was. If it wasn't for her I'd have never found it. What a weird and impersonal place. (I also cancelled an additional reservation within the published deadline and they are still fighting me for a refund. )

Beautiful lodge in quiet wooded natural setting yet close to trails and fun downtown. We were there on pilgrimage and the area was so peaceful and close to the churches. It was clean. They were very quick to meet our needs through the texts. Easy access with the codes felt secure. Kitchen options met our needs. Room very tidy and welcoming. Price can not be better.

Lovely old lodge vibes, great shared spaces, balcony was nice, everything is clean. Right by the state park. There’s a little meadow in the back where there were literally thousands of fireflies. We loved it.

Note that the kitchen is shared. The bed was kind of creaky. But otherwise, perfect.

This lodge is designed for the location. A large log type lodge with country taste including high ceilings, log beams wood stove and open main floor plan. The room was very large and spacious with a nice balcony. Bed was comfortable and there was zero noise. Checking in is completed electronically where a code is sent to allow entry after booking. This system work flawlessly and contributed to the serene quiet of the building. Clean main rooms, clean simple sleeping rooms, no TV distractions, all led to sound nights sleep. Would stay again with out hesitation.

We stayed here in 2009 the night we got married, had the worlds best French toast sad to see that the breakfast part is gone, but the property was still as immaculate as ever, the area is perfect, close enough to all amenities. Wished we’d gotten more than one night! It’s such a peaceful area and the mowed pathway was a nice walk.

The lodge is absolutely beautiful. The common rooms are clean, and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the feather room. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. We were surprised there was no television. The other guests could be heard walking around the house throughout the evening. If you're not a fan of communal living, this may not appeal to you.

The common areas were cozy, but the bedroom was missing common things like bedside lamps, a chair and desk, a closet or clothing rack, towel racks in the bathroom. Some items were poorly places like the smoke detector that went off with the steam of the shower, and the thermostat across from the window so if you tried to cool the room the heat went on.

The property was beautiful. I was expecting a continental breakfast as the website indicated that that would be coming in 2024, but not yet apparently. There is a communal kitchen that can be used by all those staying at the lodge but of course that means having your own food. Restaurants are few and far from the lodge but that's okay. The lodge itself was amazing. We were assigned the room called the Den, there were 2 of us but there were 3 bedrooms and an entire living room with two baths! It was crazy! Needless to say we didn't use the extra space. There is NO staff on site, it is totally touchless, using keyless entry to access the lodge as well as our room. it was easy to contact lodge personnel by phone, which we did with immediate assistance. The TV was weird, no local channels, only channels that streamed old shows...... there were also video apps available if you have subscriptions of your own. Overall, we enjoyed our stay of 2 nights, encountered numerous other folks who were traveling from Canada and the US!

No food!

Be aware: zero food currently offered at the Lodge and none within walking distance. No cookies when you arrive! No wine or beer. No breakfast. So be sure to bring whatever you want with you.

No personnel staff the Losge after the cleaning people leave in the afternoon. This is a bit freaky in a lodge without nine rooms.

The rooms themselves are comfortable and attractive.

I liked the setup of the lodge and the beautiful building itself. It was very quiet, and the grounds were lovely. Really great communication and a friendly staff.

However, the property overall could use some TLC and the Expedia write-up, and the property descriptions do not align in some places. (e.g. the picture of the room I reserved was not the room I received-though they had the same name-and there is no business center.)

This is a unique place to stay because you are basically on your own in a nice lodge in the middle of nowhere. No staff on site so you check yourself in and out. The room was nice and the lodge has a kitchen and breakfast room but no service at all. No restaurants nearby unless you drive to Plattsburgh about 25 minutes away. This is definitely a quiet place away from the highway.

Very nice place. Quiet, clean, and picturesque. Check in and check out are done through text message and no staff or present on site. This made my stay feel somewhat disconnected. However, the room was well appointed and spacious and the price was very reasonable. There is no breakfast offered but apparently plans are in place to offer that sometime in the future.

The Point Au Roche Lodge was everything that it promised and more. The rooms were beautiful and it was very appreciated that it was dog-friendly. It was very dog-friendly, with borders between outside porches for privacy and a specific potty area clearly identified. The price for the off-season was incredibly reasonable. One of the beds in our room was broken, but I doubt the property had been made aware of it, as it had been scrabbled back together to look like it was fine, until we laid on it and it's leg collapsed along a broken joint. While our room was great, there was a family that stayed there who were loud and in the kitchen all hours of the day and night and a door in our room led straight down to the common area kitchen, so we heard them all night. Again, not the property's fault and we could have just as easily gone into the kitchen to say something respectfully to the family. All in all, I was very impressed with the accomodations, the property and its vicinity to the Point Au Roche State Park. Will definitely stay here again in the off-season.

One of the best places I’ve stayed. My boyfriend and I stayed here over Christmas this year and had a great time. The fireplace and jacuzzi in the room, full kitchen, and cozy common room were definitely highlights. The location was perfect for us visiting Montreal, and Burlington, and there was great hiking nearby. The managers were helpful and communicative, and check in/out was easy. Would definitely stay again!

Great getaway. No one on the property, but it’s really beautiful and secluded. It would have been nice to have a fire in the communal space but there didn’t seem to be any way to light it and no instructions. Hopefully some of these things will be addressed as they develop the property.

Wonderful find

We only stayed one night, overnight on our drive to Quebec City. Unexpectedly GREAT find! We stayed in the Den room, which is more like a townhouse suite with 2 king beds and 2 twin beds. We had a sitting room with a giant TV! (My daughter was over-joyed.) We loved our stay so much that we just booked another stay for when we drive home from our Canadian vacation

There is no "check-in area" with staff on-site, which makes it feel very private and homey. It's the 1st place I've ever stayed which offers ZERO TVs anywhere, including the lovely common rooms. That can be taken as a plus or a minus, I suppose, but it was surprising.
