I have a 3-5 on service. All the staff that I interacted with were very helpful and professional. However, the housekeeping was not good. I was only there for 2 days. On the first day, my room was not cleaned, despite housekeeping being right outside the room when I left for the day. On the second day, the room was cleaned but the amenities (tea, coffee, etc.) were not replenished. Clearly no quality checks by the housekeeping management.

Lovely, peaceful stay!

My wife and I had a lovely, peaceful stay on Saturday evening. The staff were very friendly, polite and professional. Our room was ready early and they couldn't do enough for us. The Superior room was perfect, very clean, comfy bed, large walk in shower. We asked for a quiet room as we are both light sleepers and it was exactly what we had requested. We will definitely stay again in the near future.

Lovely welcome from a really friendly and accomodating team who squeezed us in for food just before close of service, food was lovely. Room however was quite tired, shower tray coming away from wall, pillow cases not very clean and room just generally looking old despite clear efforts to maintain some parts of it (new headboard). Booked exec room not sure how this differs from a normal room other than price. Walls paper thin between rooms, could hear everything upstairs and next door. mattress while new looking was cheap and every spring could be felt.

A nice hotel in easy reach of the local amenities. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were a little hard for our liking but very large otherwise. The bathroom was clean but the decor needs refreshing and the shower wasn’t very strong but plenty of hot water. The bar downstairs was good, plenty of drinks available, we didn’t try any food so can’t comment. Overall a good place to stay.

Our room was dirty, stained carpets, stained walls, dirty bathrooms with lifting Lino flooring! The pictures on the website certainly do not reflect what we had. The lampshades were cracked on the one single lamp and the curtains were old and practically see through. There is no mattress protector or pillow protector and the duvet had marks all over it. The only good thing about this hotel is some of the staff. I feel mislead by the advert and certainly would not rate it 4* as advertised.

Convenient and inexpensive

We were staying in North Yorkshire for two nights while following up some research in Kilburn, Richmond and Teesside. Northallerton was a convenient base for our work.
The hotel was inexpensive and provided the facilities we needed. We did not use the restaurant because our business took us elsewhere.

The location gave us an easy walk into the beautiful market town of Northallerton.

We were told on arrival that our room had been upgraded, the curtains were torn the handles on the windows were broken. It was baking in the room and there was no fan available so we had to go and buy one, the restaurant was extremely hot no air conditioner and the bar area was dirty and the windows were covered in flies.

Second time staying at this Hotel and although the initial check in wasn't as friendly, the remaining stay was very pleasant. Generally helpful staff and room was clean and comfortable.
The bathroom could do with a minor refurb especially the sealant edges and bottom edge of the door (it was peeling away). Would have been more useful to have a hairdryer in the living room instead of stuck to the bathroom wall .
Overall a very nice stay and would recommend and stay here again

Upon arrival the keys were the room allocated to me were missing, I was given a spare key but this didnt work, I was let in by the staff using a master key and the correct key was given to me later. I ate in the restaurant, overall the food was good.

The issues arose later in the evening, I had the room nearest reception, all i will say is that the reception staff were very loud and spent a lot of time smoking outside my room window

The hotel messaged me the day prior to our stay and I was able to complete the check in form on line to avoid contact at reception which was great. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. Because of Covid housekeeping was available on request only but we didn't bother as we were only there for 2 nights. Neither the bar or restaurant appeared to be open but we didn't need either so we didn't check. Plenty parking. Approximately 15 minute walk to the centre of Northallerton. Pleasant and helpful reception staff.

Service and staff attitude was immature and not in the least bit professional.
Rooms in need of updating.
Breakfast was ok but felt sorry for the young guy serving as he seemed to be doing most tasks and i overheard him being spoken to like a dog on more than one occasion by other members of staff who seemed to sit around doing not much at all.
All in all a bit of a faulty towers stay, good job we can laugh about it!!!!

Missed upsell opportunity to offer breakfast (used the cafe across the road instead, which was great). Cobwebs in room. Creeky and uncomfortable bed, felt every button so laid on a towel. Nice location and handy for the local hospital. Unfortunately poor management and up-keep really lets it down. The Wi-Fi and the TV did not work in the room and no effort was made to correct this when reported. The room was tired and the bed mattress was in need of replacement. I certainly wont be booking into this hotel again.

First impressions on check in were good and staff were very friendly. It was a shame there was no wifi or tv due to an issue outside of the hotel’s control and although there were signs informing of this at reception, it would have been good if staff had mentioned this on check in. The hotel in general looks a little dated and could do with updating and this continued in the room with tired looking decor and fittings. Overall, you get what you pay for (if you’re booking quite last minute in the school holidays!).

Initially turned up and was greeted very courteously. Had checked in online so just needed to get the keys. When we got there we really needed to eat but the hotel had stopped food early with no way to even get a bar meal. On the way to room, noticed that doors were ajar and some had damage due to having been jimmied open. This put me on edge as I had a lot of expensive equipment with me. When I got to my room I was pleasantly surprised, the room looked to be quite nice and clean with tea / coffee / biscuits / nice toiletries / clean towels. Upon taking a shower the bathroom flooded almost immediately due to the shower drain being blocked so ended up using all the clean towels to mop up. There is no A/C in the rooms and so they were very hot. This hotel has a bad problem with Seagulls which kept me awake for a good proportion of the night. In morning reported issues to staff and asked for the room to be tended. They sorted the drain but left me with all the wet towels and didn't sought the room. Second night, slept for approx 2.5 hours due to the Seagulls making horrendous noise. Sorry to report won't be staying here again.

Staff were very confused throughout. Initially the room we were directed to us not been cleaned. This was quickly sorted and we were offered another room which was fine.
The room itself was clean and tidy. Quite run down and needed updating but absolutely fine.
Breakfast staff were very by us ordering and brought out things at different times, not always great at cleaning things away in good time, but no major issues.
On checkout the staff were adamant that we hadn’t paid and refused to acknowledge the proof we showed them. Eventually the manager came and sorted things but the communication was lacking.
Overall no major issues but it all left a pretty bad taste as we drove away.

One word. Amazing.

One of the best hotels I stayed at. Very easy to find as it's located on the main road but we didn't hear any traffic. The rooms very clean and cosy and modern. My partner and I were in love with the walk in shower.
The two staff members we dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. Not only we were able to ask for early check in but on the night we stayed we ordered takeaway and Adam went above and beyond and he not only provided plates and cutlery but he helped carry it all to the room. Thank you Catherine and Adam for a great stay. I will definitely book it again when I am in the area.

On arrival (Friday)we signed in with the receptionist at check in only the next morning to find that it hadn’t been put through the system, at breakfast Saturday morning we found ourselves sat in the eating area alone as no one else was booked in for breakfast, only us, but because of the check in issue they wasn’t expecting us either, so there was no fresh pastries for us and a cooked breakfast was quickly thrown together and wasn’t very good at all.
On the Sunday morning they did seem to get this sorted and usual service resumed.Then at checkout time on Sunday I was then asked for payment for 1nights stay even though I’d stayed for 2 nights and it was all pre paid.
The room on arrival was cold as the window was left open and there was an earring on the bedroom floor so not a lot of attention was paid to our room prior to arrival.
This is the third time I have stayed at the hotel, but it will most definitely be the last time.
The check in blunder also makes me wonder what would have happened on the Friday night if there had been a Fire as due to the check in desk no one knew we was there

Needs updating, the reception area and bar is up to date, I didn’t see in any of the function rooms so I’m unable to comment on them. However the room we stayed in was very outdated, one curtain was hanging down when we arrived, the shower was very poor(would have been better standing outside in the rain), shower curtain ran down the middle of the bath ???, beds weRe old and sounded like they were going to fall apart, not the normal standard you would expect from a best western hotel and really not worth the money we paid. I think this hotel will be in trouble when the Premier inn is completed just down the road.

Visit to Northallerton.

The stay was for two nights whilst we attended our grandsons passing out as a Welsh Guard at Catterick.
All the staff were exremely pleasant and helpfull but unfortunately we could not recommend the comfort or cleanliness.
The bed had at least twenty springs, those were the ones that stuck up into our backs providing a poor nights sleep.
Breakfast on our first morning set the tone for the second morning. Full English with a pint of cooking oil ! Fruit and yoghurt on the second morning.
The evening meal was totally different and thoroughly recommended.

Room for improvement

Room was a bit of a maze to find
Asked for a larger and was given a fosters
Without asking what i wanted
Evening meal was poor
Tasted like it was microwaved meal

The breakfast was good but the mattress was terrible . I had a large spider in the room. The taps in the sink were so small they were almost impossible to use.

Arrival was disconcerting as there seemed to have been some problem with Expedia and my prepayment however the reception showed professionalism in sorting this and we found the staff in general very helpful and pleasant in all departments.
Noisy neighbours in adjacent room can hardly be blamed on the hotel although better sound-proofing would have helped. As a matter of personal taste I found the bed pillows rather too firm but the bed was comfortable and another guest commented to me at breakfast about no Yorkshire Tea so that may be something to consider?
Overall verdict: A good value hotel that delivers on the fundamentals. I'd happily stay here again.

Reasonable hotel for the price I paid. My only grumble would be that the bar did not serve non-alcoholic beer.
