Everything was wonderful - offering so much more than a 4* hotel! Stayed at Matfen Hall (5*) a few days earlier and this stay was so much better in every way - food, room size, decor, staff, comfort, value for money and attention to detail - well impressed! It was an added bonus to be able to enjoy the farmers’ market in the beautiful grounds!

Excellent stay! I took my partner for our engagement and it was so special. The staff were so important in ensuring our night was completely perfect. They upgraded our room with one with a balcony! Whilst going out of there way to decorate our room with complimentary champagne and chocolate treats, for our return back to the room after our evening meal in the fabulous leven restaurant!

Very much a Ghosts of Motley Hall hotel.
I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to my room yet the hotel seemed to have very few guests - not sure what that was all about.
The staff do try their best but the place seems to be run by management from an Agatha Christie novel.

The hotel staff were very friendly. We were given a classic room and discovered that the wash hand basin was severely cracked. We reported this immediately and were told a new one was on order,no offer of a room change despite the hotel being very quiet.We feel that as a 4 star hotel,guests should not be placed in a room that has a damaged hand basin.It was a disappointing stay.

Staff very friendly welcoming and helpful. Billing system not robust, we were overcharged £250, and had to take time sorting it out. Also had trouble with our daily paper, and reception didn't handle our debit card properly. Meals especially breakfasts excellent, wines vastly overpriced.very comfortable lounges and a beautiful setting.

Obviously its setting and old world charm. Its proximity to other areas of Teesside. I enjoyed the breakfast being served at your table with lovely white tablecloths. It is so nice instead of everything being self-serve.

We attended a family wedding and stayed at the hotel for the weekend. What a fantastic place and stay. A beautiful and grand building with stunning grounds and a sumptuous bedroom. All the staff were professional, friendly, efficient, polite and happy. As for the night staff, they literally worked miracles whilst we slept. I spent 2 nights, attending a family birthday event. It was all quite pleasant, and the staff were welcoming. The food was pretty good, although fairly limited in range, particularly for vegetarians. I have no reservations in recommending this hotel. It is a little out of Yarm (the nearest town), and public transport is not available, so reliance on a car or taxis is required. (No buses serve Yarm railway station, which needs addressing by the local authority.) Warm itself is a charming market town.

We recently stayed at Crathorne Hall for a two night stay. We were extremely cold for the majority of our stay. Not only did the heating not work in either ours or our friends room but the window in our room had been left open by the cleaning staff to dispel the condensation. During dinner on Saturday evening we notice other diners putting logs on the fire as they were frozen too. The hotel looks as though it needs some money spent on it and the staircase is in desperate need of a good clean. For a two night stay costing £475 you expect more.

We were invited to partake of the Blood donor lunch to begin with and were disappointed that it was changed that morning from roast beef to afternoon tea which was tasty but not at 12.30.

We found the staff at the hotel to be excellent but paying at reception was a little fraught with a long queue and unanswered ringing telephones.......just glad it wasn't me trying to get through.!!
The breakfast was the best we had ever had in our lives and the porridge with cream and maple syrup was to die for.....well not literally.

Stunning hotel in a stunning location.
The hotel is located very close to the A19 near to Yarm, however it is located in the beautiful and tranquil grounds which enjoy stunning views of the Cleveland Hills with only a very low level of noise drifting up from the A19. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We were made to feel both very welcome and comfortable with nothing being a problem. Also, the staff were attentive without being overly familiar or making us feel uncomfortable. The bar service was quick with a quality range of drinks and aperitifs. We selected our meal from the table d'ote and were not disappointed in any way. Again, the staff being friendly and attentive, helping with our wine selection and ensuring our experience was memorable. The room was warm and comfortable with the most stunning view over the river and towards the Cleveland hills. Finally, a good selection of breakfast options and a smooth check out made this a stay which we are looking forward to repeating in the near future. Many thanks.

A Christmas stay ruined by a third rate hotel...
Old Hall that needed a little TLC, This was a stay over Christmas and boxing day nights with relatives visiting from overseas. From the outset after booking we were made to feel like second class guests, Struggled to get a booking for xmas lunch in preference to those eating lunch and not staying or those who booked a complete three night package, upon arrival the decorations were very poor and sporadic you could have been mistaken in believing it was actually Christmas in most rooms, log fires were not lit, lounges closed or full and other rooms cold. service was very sporadic, as there was no bar in the lounges you were reliant upon staff serving you, we waited in the lounge for 30 minutes before our lunch and no service. lunch took four hours with over long delays between courses, a 40 minute wait for our first drinks to arrive despite repeatedly asking and another 10 before any food we honestly thought we were invisible !!!. The choice of vegetables was very poor and portion size was small, A meal served the next day was delivered incorrect and it took almost 30 minutes to provide a replacement - how long does it take to make up a wrap ?? all the others in our group who had hot food were finished long before its arrival.

We had a lovely time here and particularly enjoyed the view from our room which looked out over the Christmas-tree outside the front door. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable in the comfort of our room.

Elegant Hotel in tranquil setting
Crathorne Hall was a delight to stay in ; our room was very comfortable and spacious, and all the staff were charming. There was a great choice of food for Breakfast, though the restaurant was not open for lunch, there was only a limited bar food menu. I would definitely come and stay at Crathorne again.

Stayed for two nights, staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel beautiful and clean. I had pre booked champagne for the room which wasn't there on arrival which was disappointing as it was a surprise for my partner.
Breakfast very good and service excellent. There had been some work carried out on the bathroom door and the wood shavings were on the floor and the door, this was not cleaned whilst we stayed there.

The building and grounds are amazing but the hotel interior and room were tired and in desperate need of renovating especially after paying twice the cost of other beautiful hotels we stayed on our trip around UK, I could start being picky but I have to say all i could think of was Faulty Towers , a 3 star hotel looking to be a 5 star, The saving grace arr the views and grounds truly beautiful however we would look to stay elsewherr on out next visit

The hotel is beautiful and the staff a very helpful and friendly. The food is delicious. We had a beautiful champagne afternoon tea on arrival and ate in the restaurant twice.
We had our breakfast delivered to our room and we were on the top floor so it was cold when it arrived which was a pity.
I would definitely recommend. We took a taxi to Yarm town which cost £7. It is a lovely place and the majority of places to eat there are a 5 star food hygiene rating.
