We asked for a late check out and even though the hotel was absolutely empty - (we were the only two people at breakfast in a room that could seat 100) the hotel still denied a late checkout (personally I think 11am checkout is too early) so we were charged an extra £20 for a 12pm checkout. When the room costs £500 per night this is totally outrageous. The hotel was empty so it would have been a nice gesture to offer a 1pm checkout given at most high end hotels 12pm is standard. Very disappointing.

Also in the restaurant they put a main course on the bill that we had ordered but they had accidentally not cooked so we cancelled it but it was still on the bill and was subsequently removed when I mentioned it upon paying.

The staff are excellent. The spa is amazing but they cut off spa treatments at 4.45pm for last 1hr service - we only just made it and my service started a few minutes late and finished a few minutes early and when the therapist left the room to give me a moment to get on the bed she was gone for 5 minutes meaning my massage was around 50 minutes but charged as an hour.

The sheets are a little low quality compared to other hotels of this caliber but the rooms are beautiful and spacious. The views from the rooms are also lovely. The room service menu is unbelievably limited, almost nothing on it but the breakfast served in the main hotel restaurant is exceptional with a special nod to the crème brule porridge.

Great stay but for a 5* hotel could pay more attention to the rooms. Dead insect on bedside table when we came in the room and the bathroom tv was not working. They did come and fix it but by the time we found out it was too late to use as we had things booked. So would advise to make sure rooms are checked over before guests arrived. Staff were lovely and attentive. Food and drinks were great. Spa was lovely.

Everything about Rockliffe is exceptional, and it's the same every time we visit. But what really sets this place apart is the service you receive from every member of staff. Warm, welcoming, helpful, but never 'uptight' or pompous, just perfect! Well done, all!

The room was very nice. Spa facilities were great. Really enjoyed our time. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. Very limited evening menu. Breakfast menu had a good selection but the food wasnt the best. Hopefully this is due to the ongoing renovations and will be better once completed.

Had a brilliant time at Rockliffe Hall.
The spa was really relaxing and well worth it.

The spa treatment itself was spot on, and the views around the place are lovely.

The Staff were great: polite, helpful, and made everything easy.
They left a few things out for our birthday celebration, which made the day feel special.

Tip: on your last morning, try to squeeze in one last 1/2 hour the spa to set you up for the day.

The staff were excellent, couldn’t do enough for us. The spa was fantastic as always, and the room was lovely. The food in the clubhouse restaurant was amazing and the staff in there were also brilliant and professional. Faultless and Value for money, we would recommend to anyone, a visit to Rockliffe Hall, Hotel and Spa is a must. We only live in Teesside, so it’s on our doorstep, We will definitely be returning soon, for another great weekend!

Lovely hotel, our room was great and breakfast fantastic. Didn’t use the pool, fitness centre or spa so can’t comment but they looked nice. Did do a 7km walk run on one of the recommended routes around the hotel which was very scenic. We’ll definitely return when the build is finished and new restaurant is open.

Birthday gift for Wife.
Excellent service from greeting us at car, reception staff polite and courteous.
Room as always, clean and size was large, well decorated and amenities faultless.
Spa Garden was exceptional 👌 staff friendly and service was excellent.
Golf restaurant on night was unreal. Staff friendly and greet my wife with knowledgeable of Birthday and gift at end of meal, food and drink faultless.
Been before and will visit again.
You pay for what you would expect and its worth every penny.

Excellent service from welcoming staff to receptionist to house keeping. The room was very high standard overlooking the golf course. In club house I would certainly recommend the food as this was a birthday celebration - I could not fault the service.

I’d give this 3 stars at most.

Beautiful grounds, but that’s about it.

Pillows smelt like neck sweat and were very uncomfortable, asked for a firmer pillow and they just put another pillow in the pillow I already had.

Dirty bathroom , hairs and crime in the corners , clearly not been cleaned properly for a very long time.

Disgusting for the price you pay.

Breakfast was very nice, we were looked after my Poshan, such an amazing and attentive lady, Poshan was the highlight of our stay.

Bar service was very poor and stupidly expensive. We were also charged for 2 drinks we didn’t even order, again poor as the staff should have checked room number as someone clearly put 2 drinks on our room. I informed reception and they cleared this off our bill.

I’d avoid at all costs , girls rip off , over £1200 for 3 nights!

The decor is stunning, the staff is professional and friendly, the spa has a range of wonderful treatment rooms and excellent facilities inside and out, the food and service in the Clubhouse is spot on and the golf course is top notch. Wonderful hotel with excellent spa facilities! Friendly, attentive staff, always willing to help.
Ate in the new Terra restaurant and although food was very good, the menu was a little confusing as it didn't explain that the main courses were for 2 people. We ordered 2 of them and this far too much. One meal was mostly wasted which ( at these prices) was an expensive mistake.

Beautiful parkland and excellent room and facilities - we enjoyed the spa and gym too. The gym was well supplied with machines and weights. All the staff were friendly and helpful and catered for a number of special requests. A shame we were there on a Monday night when the Orangery restaurant was not open as we would like to have tried it. Would definitely recommend.

Came for a night away with my mum as a belated birthday treat for her. From start to finish the stay was excellent. The standard of service from all the staff we encountered was amazing - super helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Our room was nice and clean, and had a lovely view of the golf course from our patio doors. Spa was slightly difficult to locate as there is no sign that it is through the changing rooms, however the facilities are top tier. Nice little touch having complementary ice tea available next to the sauna, it’s definitely needed! We both also had a prescription facial which was absolutely my favourite part of our stay. The lady who performed my treatment (unfortunately didn’t catch her name!) was really friendly and she made me feel relaxed and taken care of. I came out feeling refreshed and my skin was glowing! Overall we had a fantastic time and we will definitely be returning!

Just got back from this hotel. From checking in to checking out the staff made you feel so welcome. We had the 8 course tasting menu for diinnee on Saturday evening and it was well worth the money. The spa was lovely and the grounds were lovely for walk.
Room was very smart and a tv at the end off the bath was a nice touch.
Would definitely stay again.

Room was stunning. So spacious and beautifully decorated. I think we were in one of the newly refurbished rooms in the New Hall.

The staff we encountered and service we received was first class especially from front desk/concierge. Really professional and set the tone for the hotel. Great welcome and first impression.

Spa was nice but not as relaxing as could be. The big water jet fountain (purely for display, not something you use as part of the experience) in the middle of the hydropool is really loud and unnecessary in my opinion. It's not on all the time thankfully but you can barely have a conversation over the noise and the music in the tepidarium is barely audible over the noise of the jets and that's in a separate room. Bit of a shame that you couldn't get a drink whilst in the main spa area. There is a bar in the Spa Garden part which staff mentioned but didn't say how we arranged access to. Just that it had to be booked before. Too late by that point. Might be worth mentioning this at check in so people could book access to that area if they wanted.

Food and drink prices are bordering on ludicrous. £17.50 for a glass of Champagne. £20 for a glass of Whispering Angel. No starters in the clubhouse under £15... We don't mind spending money on a nice trip but some of the pricing was just silly and put you off spending at all. A bit of a short sighted strategy. 8 diners in the clubhouse. No one in the cocktail bar. No atmosphere in either unfortunately.
