Staff extremely helpful and friendly; one of the redeeming factors in my stay and hence the 3 stars.

We booked last minute as we were visiting family chose local instead of premier inn as we like to support local businesses.The room was shabby the mattress was on a base that was too small room cold towels smelt and just not very nice very disappointed.Reception evening rude asked for an xtra pillow told hose keeping gone then received one once we were in bed.Morning reception didn’t show any interest when we checked out no how was your stay or goodbye. Left and said in case you are interested no our stay was not good.Could of got a room somewhere else cheaper but chose to support local a full refund would be appreciated?

Room needed some TLC - large stains on the ceiling, stains on outside of the bath, old cigarette left in drawer where hairdryer was . Basic amenities- no hot choc or biscuits considering it’s 4 star. No info in room at all about what the hotel offers , etc much better in a premier inn for cheaper . Customer service not great on reception either . Not friendly or welcoming . Felt like I was doing them a service! Threat of being charged if I smoked on premises (I’m a non smoker) there are just nicer ways to speak to guests . Won’t stay here again

I'd booked a superior room with double bed and got put into a family room - why? Although a nice big room, it wasn't what id booked. Walls are paper thin. Was up most of the night with the bloke next door coughing. King mattrass was terrible. Could feel every spring in it. Had to use the single bed duvet and spare blanket to make a topper.

The fire alarm light in the bedroom flashed all night and reception said they couldn’t do anything to fix it. The mattress in the room was really old and lumpy. Every time I turned over in bed the springs hurt my leg.

This was our 4th hotel on a little tour around Yorkshire and it was a mid week stay.The only room available on the deal we found was a twin so I emailed forward and asked if it could be changed to a double./ king On arrival the reception said they had moved the beds together.Not ideal as they had so many rooms and so few guests so not sure why they couldn’t do that and it would have been a nice gesture.The second thing I would like to mention was we were told on arrival we were eating in the bar area which wasn’t mentioned when we booked meals.I am divided on this.It was our wedding Anniversary and I had taken evening wear which wasn’t really appropriate for where we were sat so didn’t feel special as I didn’t get to wear them.
I think we were the only couple there it was occupied by business people tapping away on their computers.Now I would like to add the food was Amazing.There was an offer of the main menu and another menu of Indian food which I don’t think would have been offered in the restaurant it was outstanding.This made our stay.Overall yes we would stay again the walks around the grounds was another highlight and we saw Heron and rabbits and robins.

The most wonderful staff.

We had a 1 night stay while attending a nearby festival, but wish we'd stayed longer. The most wonderful staff, particularly Mandy on Reception who was super friendly and helpful. 11 out of 10!
In addition, the bed had a very comfortable mattress, the rooms had lovely views, the location was great just off the A1. We had a drink on the terrace in the sunshine and enjoyed everything this hotel had to offer. Recommend!

Dilapidated and in need of a revamp. Superior room was miles from reception down narrow corridors. No lifts. Key lock very difficult to use. Would be a nightmare trying to unlock in an emergency. Bedroom very outdated. Minimal coffee/tea sachets and no biscuits. Bed was comfy though. Bathroom not up to scratch with mould evident round tiles. Kitchen facilities out of order so no food except basics. No breakfast due to kitchen faults so only a (very) limited continental breakfast. Both toasters on offer were broken also so not even option of toast. Spa was an extra cost which we weren’t aware of at time of booking. Possibly our fault but we presumed the cost wouldn’t be relevant to resident guests. We had booked for 2 nights but only stayed for one. Very disappointed as this was for my birthday and I booked out in tears

One night stop just off the A1 and the room 219 in the stable block was very poor. Cobwebs everywhere, lot of mould in bathroom, disgusting bathroom extractor fan not been cleaned in very long time, very noticeable dust on all surfaces, old food on carpet, and windows that hadn’t been cleaned in months if not years. General decoration condition was poor, shower water pressure low, no hot water in morning. Windows had secondary glazing and outer window wouldn’t close. Bathroom window was a struggle to open or close due to its poor condition. The mattress of one of the 2 beds was sagging and needed replacing. I gave a list of issues to receptionist but in the main I would avoid this place. It might be a lovely hotel in the main building but the stable annex is fairly awful and having just spent 3 nights in a wonderful guest house in N Yorks the contrast couldn’t have been greater.

Hall Garth was a visit we looked forward to. The mapping App couldn’t find it easily and tried to locate it in the village the opposite side of the A1M, once we’d returned and crossed over Google maps insisted on trying to get us into the top end of the property (near the spa) which we ignored and finally found our way in. The hotel is lovely and the premises are fine, we had a larger room which unfortunately was a real trek through the buildings to reach. However comfortable room and quiet we found….For the first night.
However the property holds weddings and our second night corresponded with one. So although our room was almost at the end of the property, guests in the room next door gathered shouting, singing and obviously enjoying themselves noisily until nearly three o’clock in the morning, after waking us around 12:30.
Not ideal for a restful night before a long drive home.

The best Hotel to stay!

Hotel was clean, staff very friendly and helpful, Mandy the receptionist was full of local knowledge and even got the little one an Easter egg!! Her dog Sydney was lovely too!. The food was excellent value for Money and great quality too, we will definitely be returning again next year for Easter break, this is a hidden Gem, Customer service in all areas was amazing.

Room was a good size and well equipped, comfortable bed & chairs. Tea/coffee facilities somewhat basic, but the essentials were there. Heating worked, had to turn the rad off, too warm but that's better than not warm enough.
Stayed 2 nights, had dinner & breakfast in hte hotel both nights, and enjoyed them. Good choices for dinner, well cooked and presented, very pleased with both nights. Breakfast also good and none of the meals were overly expensive.
Will be happy to stay here again when I'm next in teh area.

Rather expensive restaurant.
Our second night was blighted by another guests abusive behaviour towards his partner. Maybe staff should say no to customers when they have clearly had too much alcohol.

We were supposed to be in a feature room. When we arrived we were put in a family room, the sofa was very badly stained and the carpet was very badly stained throughout. There were cobwebs on the wall and a comb was left in a drawer. The room was by far the worst I have ever seen. There was no bath, something we had particularly asked for. We could not stay in the room and went back to reception. We were eventually given another room which was old but very clean with a bath. I must say the staff were very good and the food was excellent. The receptionist I spoke to when we booked told us she had booked us into a feature room and it was not the first time her booking had been changed.

Nice hotel that just needs a little work.

The first thing i will say is that the staff are lovely and very good and the restaurant and bar was nice.
The wifi was also very good.
However, a couple of points to improve on, the car park is mainly mud, if youre wearing smart shoes, you will get filthy shoes getting in and out of your car if its been wet.
I booked two rooms, one was warm and cosy in the Stables, and the other in the main house was cold. I reported it to reception but nothing was fixed that I requested an additional radiator but it was powerful enough to keep the room warm but the outer walls had a lot of damp.
There was no heating in the bathroom, the bathroom window didn't seal so it let lots of cold air in and so the bathroom was very cold.
I think if both rooms had been in The Stables it would have been very different.

Hotel is tired like many of these old hotel buildings, but certainly no worse than many I have stayed in. Bed was very comfy, room was warm and bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries.
We moved rooms as the plumbing from the neighboring room made a lot of noise everytime they used the bathroom. The lady on reception was super, appologised and moved us without any fuss.
Price was very cheap so I have no complaints about the standard of room we received. We will stay again next time we are in the area.

Asked for an extra pillow, just 3 on the bed .Was told ,we dont have any because we a. re cutting down on laundry bills also bulb not working in bedside lamp ,was told will have to wait till tomorrow, no maintenance on duty. Not much good when only staying 1 night. Not much customer interaction in the breakfast room just told the buffet through there help your self. Paid £111.60 for 1 night which i think was way over priced. All in allthe whole hotel is very tiered. Most of the sash windows need replacing Probably worth no more than £80 a night.

Checked in , after looking around the room the bedding was found to be dirty and stained , asked for it to be changed to be told housekeeping had finished for the day and we would have to change rooms but the new room might not be as good as the current room , eventually after a couple of hours a member of staff went and changed the bedding , during this time we had a visit to the spa which we thought was in with the room price as the hotel was advertised as a hotel with a spa only to be charged an additional £30 for use of a hot tub and sauna , after the spa we went for an evening meal , which quite honestly was disappointing a best, one part of the meal was cold and the other meal was recommended as being cooked by Indian chefs chicken Tikka masala , that did not taste like any chicken Tikka masala I had ever before , all in all a disappointing stay , i Will say the staff at the front desk and bar did the best they could and even gave us a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. It's such a shame after spending the previous three days in another Best Western hotel a few miles away with no issues but sadly no hot tub either ( the reason for the change of hotel )because this hotel has a lovely setting and views of a golf course

Arrived Friday for two night stay, had a sauna/hot tub but it no longer has a pool. I was surprised to be charged £15 for the use as I've never been charged as a paying guest before in hotels previously.
Room was clean but rather tired, coffee/tea/milk were not refreshed daily. Hot Breakfast to order on Saturday, but buffet style on Sunday, passable but not the bast!
WiFi availabe but a right faff to get signed on.
USB charge point in bedroom not working.

Disappointing stay due to lack of sleep.

The room wasn’t the one we booked as the lady said there were too many stairs to the 3rd floor ! So were put in the Stable room, still plenty of stairs up and down to get to the room.
On entering, the room looked dated with a very worn carpet which had ripples in where it had stretched and a large red/pink stain on it.
The bed had marks on the divan base. The base wasnt fitted together properly and one half didn’t have wheels on it so was at a different level to the other half. This made it very uncomfortable for trying to sleep on it. Little sleep was had !
The deadlick on the dior didn't work and the chain lock was broken too.
Bathroom was ok, quite large.
Breakfast was delicious but the coffee/tea cups on the table were stained and had cracks in them. Other guests asked for their cups to be changed.

And all the rooms were booked ?? So there was a problem (not happy) 3hours on a motorcycle and wet through ,booked and paid for ,payment taken and no room? But then the lady running reception had had some leave so suddenly a room available? So in brief would not use you again to book a room but would certainly stay at the hotel again big thanks to the lady on reception who took control and sorted out the problem 👍 staff like this deserve better recognition for their service

Nice overnight stay at Hall Garth hotel, just minutes off the motorway but no sound of traffic !!!!!, Staff are all very friendly and an asset to the business. Evening meal was very tasty as was the breakfast. They have closed the swimming pool but have Spa facilities but at a premium price of £15 for 90 minutes which in my opinion is over priced. Rooms a little dated but comfortable . Would certainly recommend and return. They also have their own golf course.

A nice country club hotel with plenty of character

The hotel is quite dated which adds a lot of character to the property. The general areas are relatively clean but the room we were booked in has seen better days. There were some cobwebs near the windows and the floor was a bit dusty. We arrived almost midnight and quite tired so didn’t really do a complete check of the room. We did notice that one of the tv remotes were missing so I let the nightporter know. In the morning, breakfast was standard spread. All the hotel and restaurant staff we come across with at this property were really good and seemed to enjoy their work and makes for a very pleasant stay indeed.

Great hotel at an attractive price.

Stayed for just 1 night while travelling but very pleased we chose Hall Garth Hotel. We arrived later in the evening but went to the bar and the atmosphere was great with a 90s themed party for residents in the adjoining room. The bed was comfortable so we slept well and had a great full English breakfast in the morning.

The food was amazing staff were lovely and very helpful we always love to stay however this time as a treat we booked a superior room there was nothing really superiors about it, we have stayed previously and the rooms are pretty much the samejust avit more floor space, the pillows we extremely hard, everytime you turn off the tv you have to retune tune it, we went to the spa we have previously used there is now no swimming pool which was very disappointing

Very friendly, clean, food was perfectly cooked …. recommend the belly pork and mustard mash for the evening meal
