No curtains in the room, just ill-fitting roller blinds, it felt a little like a youth hostel rather than a hotel room. The iron we asked for covered my white shirt in black gunk (my fault for not checking the plate but disappointed staff would give out such rubbish). Extractor fan in bathroom broken, very uncomfortable old soggy mattress. Staff were lovely, breakfast average, quiet overall in the rooms.

We stayed at the Parkmore Hotel from 31.12.25-2.1.26. We were up north from Gloucester to see my family and, while we would usually stay with them, I though that this time I would book us a ‘tranquil escape’ (as advertised on Best Western’s website). My grandparents were married at the Parkmore in 2006, I learned to swim in the pool growing up and, as a full-time NHS midwife, I thought that 2 nights at the Parkmore would be a perfect reset for myself and my partner for the New Year. What followed, however, was complete disappointment.
The Parkmore is perfectly situated for a walk into Yarm and an excellent distance from the family residence we were visiting. I booked a Junior Suite for us, going a little above my budget, as the photos looked lovely and I thought it would make for more of a treat.
The overall impression of the Parkmore is a space where detail has been neglected, decor has become dated and the experience has been lost in the process. We travel a lot and never stay anywhere with a view to finding issues but I personally was heartbroken by the stay we had. The standards compared to those advertised are wildly different , straying dangerously into territories of false advertising. I feel the money I paid was in no way reflected in the experience we had and the grubbiness lead me to shower at a family member’s house prior to the return journey to feel clean.

Had a lovely stay here. Welcoming staff on arrival, clean
, comfy and spacious rooms, a better than expected gym, and nice food.

The rooms were cosy and had everything required, free toiletries in the bathroom which was a nice touch.

The gym was great considering it was a hotel gym, lots of equipment and free weights. Didn’t use the spa but looked more than good enough and clean.

Ate here for breakfast and evening meal. Wasn't a massive menu but a good selection and was enjoyable. A little longer wait between courses than preferred but was quite busy.

A special mention to Wendy on reception. Very welcoming, informative and above all a lovely lady.

Great last minute night away with kids. Lovely hotel, friendly staff and brilliant leisure facilities! Mark couldn't be more helpful! If there was one down side, the restaurant menu could do with a revisit (very limited) and the beautifully cooked steak and fresh fish were very much let down by the frozen chips! BUT, the breakfast was amazing! Will definitely visit again!

We had a lovely stay, our family room was a little less fancy than the rwat of the hotel but thats fine, the food was lovely and so were the staff.

The pool was nice, the area needs a little bit of a refresh and the spa was out of order but overall we had a loveky stay and will be back.

Great amenities including pool wet and dry sauna jacuzzi.

We had a family room and checked in late. Girl at reception friendly and the cleaners were lovely. As was the man at the pool check in. Breakfast was tasty but breakfast service wasn't at all good. The room was noisy and the curtains barely kept out the light. We normally stay at the redworthhall watch is very comfortable for similar money I'm afraid

We stay here only because it is the closest hotel to family. The hotel is OK but a bit run down. We had the same room this visit as our last and the carpet was new but the bathroom fittings were as worn as before. I can't recommend the Parkmore and if I had another viable option, I'd take it.

Noisy Rooms

The building is lovely and rooms as clean and reasonably comfortable. But I had to switch rooms after being woken by the noise from the next room. The couple in the next room weren’t being particularly noisy, but the walls were so thin that I could hear every word of their conversation. Having to repack and switch rooms after already having been asleep is far from ideal. It also took half an hour to be taken to my new room. Pillows are also like sleeping on concrete.

Well located but rooms below expectation

The hotel is well located for restaurants in Yarm and Eaglescliffe train station. Other than that the hotel is very basic, the rooms we stayed in were grey, bland and depressing. The basin seemed to have the hot and cold plumbed in the wrong way round and the toilet roll holder kept falling off the wall. The window was half frosted presumably because the view out was on to other buildings. I kept the blind closed. After I checked in and saw the room I tried to reduce the number of days we were staying there however was unable to do so without a hefty fee. Overall, not what I expected and I wont be staying again.

Give it a miss.

Cold tap in the bathroom didn't work, hairdryer didn't work, the colleague who was travelling with me couldn't turn down the heat in her room so it was a furnace. She was told by reception that they would let maintenance know but it would be 3-4 days before they would be able to look at it - we were only staying 1 night. To top it off, I had a pasta dish in the restaurant for dinner which gave me food poisoning. Hotels in this area are expensive which is why we stayed here - next time I'd spend the money and stay at a Premier Inn.

Started by issuing us with the wrong room (not enough beds) then no towels.
Everything appeared very dated and in need of some TLC.
The bathroom extractor wasn’t working so there was water running down the walls after a shower (probably why the door and frame were delaminating).
The pool had dirty tiles around the outside walls and many of the ceilings around the place were sagging and split.
The evening staff were very slow with everything and had to go find them to be served a drink.
Unfortunately - we also woke up in the night to hear scurrying in to roof!
The young lady on reception appeared mortified when I told her to be fair.
That said - the breakfast was very good!
The place has potential to be very nice, but unfortunately not whilst we were there.

I have stayed here on a number of occasions and normally no issues. Unfortunately during this visit I had two sleepless nights. There was questionable loud rumbling during both nights in the ceiling above my bed, however, when discussed with reception I was informed as there was a flat roof above my room it's was more than likely birds (trees also around the area) and due to the hotel being full they were unable to change my room. The sound really seemed to be coming from the plasterboard ceiling.

Room 166 is next to a staff room with a non soft close door, you are able to hear everything going on all night and the door slams every time someone enters or leaves! The window opens out onto a smoking area so the room stinks and you’re unable to get any fresh air in the room. It’s awfully pokey and the bathroom was falling apart. At breakfast you arrive and may have to wait for a table to become free as it is a very small service. They took my order and I waited half an hour watching everyone else get their food before I asked where mine was and they had forgot to put the order through. I waited another 10 minutes and then was late for our meeting.

The menu amazing the execution poor - waited nearly 25 min for 2 hard poached eggs on unbuttered toast with side if cold beans - we want to be up fed and out in the job - would stay agin but skip breakfast as i didnt enjoy or have the time after waiting.

Second time at this hotel and I love it. It’s ideally placed in between all the places I want to visit. It’s quiet and in a residential area. The gym is better than most hotels I’ve been to, it’s a great little bonus as then after you can go and get a dip in the indoor pool. Staff is so friendly and each time I’ve been, have been trying to accommodate an early arrival. Love it and I will be back

A very average hotel, with a very dated feel, fixtures and fittings damaged or incomplete (light fitting with no shade/diffuser) so a very unpleasant naked lamp, tv bracket loose on the wall, pillows thin and lacking any substance, matress soft and unsupportive, taps very difficult to completely turn off, toilet systern didn't stop cycling, a very average place, that on the face of it looks better than it was, disappointing

Now the negatives. I booked what they called a suite not sure how it qualified as a suite. The bed was uncomfortable the mattress far too soft and the springs made it uncomfortable. The shower door was hanging off the shower I managed to kinda fix it but it kept falling off. The bath was a jacuzzi bath that didn’t work. When I asked why I was told it wasn’t advertised as a jacuzzi bath so they couldn’t be accused of wrongful marketing. There was a massive crack in the bath which could be dangerous. The hairdryer looked like it was from the 80’s and was stained probably from when you could smoke in hotel rooms. We used the kettle to make tea but it smelled and made the hot water taste disgusting this definitely needs replacing. I would say there are plenty of things that need to be done to make this worth the money they charge.
The restaurant in the hotel was ok. Menu not massive and basic the food was ok not great. Their idea of a cocktail is laughable no thought put into the presentation.
Overall this was a very disappointing stay and I won’t be returning in a hurry.

Good location - quiet but pleasant 20 min walk to town centre. Easy parking. Very friendly reception. Accommodation functional but very clean, very comfortable bed & linen and a great shower ( looks new). Breakfast was an amazing feast - excellent quality full english and served by very pleasant young staff. Best all round value Ive had in years - and I have travelled a great deal !

You know all those little things that really make a stay special (nice bottles of mineral of mineral water, a shower that stays hot, a 'Do not disturb' sign for the door, heating that works...)? Well, this hotel had none of them. Having said that, it's basically OK. It's clean and comfortable (apart from the shower) and the staff do their best. The on-site spa (pool, gym etc) is good, although the sauna is something of a cupboard. Overall, I'd say they need to provide more, or charge less.

The reception staff were welcoming and offered us coffee while we waited for our room. The room was a little underwhelming at first and very warm but we had a comfortable stay as the beds were comfortable, the room was clean and quiet. We switched the radiator down and opened the window. Breakfast was lovely and very hot. The service was a bit brusk and not very flexible. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately, it is the only hotel within sensible walking distance to family so we have little choice but to stay here. We've been before and had very poor experiences, so we wouldn't stay unless we had no other choice.

We arrived at 13.00 and asked if we could check in. The delightfully blunt reply was 'No'. Apparently, check in is at 14.00

We set our expectations very low (in light of previous experience) to avoid disappointment.

We deliberately didn't book dinner nor breakfast as these were not good previously. Just as well really, as we'd been told the dining room was fully booked. Funnily enough, when we walked past the restaurant at 19.00 on our way out to an excellent local restaurant, the dining room was very nearly empty. Whatever.

The room was ok but the bathroom was tired and in need of cosmetic repairs. Also, there was an iron shaped burn mark on the carpet.

If we had any other options, we wouldn't stay here and we definitely wouldn't recommend The Parkmore Hotel. If you can, find somewhere nicer, there are plenty around further out of the town.

Freezing Old Hotel Building

1. Radiator valves in the bedroom have been closed so no heating. Was freezing while it was raining outside. Complained so many times to the reception and finally was given a small heater to keep myself warm.

Arrived Sunday around 3pm, had a Sunday dinner in the birdcage restaurant was very nice.. The room 114 not the best very worn. cream carpet quite stained walls marked and plaster chipped. We are a family of 4 with a 3 year old and 7 month old and the room just lacks things, no hair dryer or iron something you would expect in most hotels. No air conditioning and the room was very hot .. Swimming pool is lovely just a bit cold but worth a visit. Overall ok stay.

Very nice

Room wasn’t very nice but then was moved to a suite. Bit noisy with deliveries and outside air con system/boiler system. All staff very friendly.
House keeping girls all lovely!
Sunday lunch was lovely!
Never got to use the pool just the gym but very nice!
Would definitely stay there again!

Called the property late evening prior to booking, and queried regarding the restaurant and the electric charging pod.

When got to the hotel (after couple of hours), only to find out the both electric charger is not working and the restaurant closed earlier than said time.

Bed comfort was not great either

This hotel could be great but is in really poor shape. Food limited eg instant coffee served at breakfast, no fresh fruit, gluten free and non dairy products not evident.
Room very small.
Prices high but inconsistent eg other friends paid different rates
Really can’t recommend without improving significantly

helpful and pleasant staff

Helpful and pleasant staff and had a warm welcome Rooms clean and tidy and functional. Great shower in my room, although wall mirror was missing and light over the mirror that should have been there didn't work. Glass roof over the entrance and other conservatory rooves could do with a clean, but only a minor point. All in all a good stay and will certainly be going back

This is an ok Best Western. i.e. hasn't been decorated since the 80s. Biggest problem is the ridiculously slow restaurant service with more unavailable items than available. The \"chef\" patently can't cook anything off menu. If something you have ordered comes with an accompaniment and they don't have it, they can't offer an alternative. Couldn't even add a baked potato when they ran out of fondant potatoes. Obviously all pre packed food. Waited 45 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant for a steak. Rooms are ok, staff are friendly but let down by the corporate offering.

Disappointing!!

Room was VERY cold at all times even with the radiator at maximum.

Bed duvet / linen was ripped and torn at one end.

No hot water in the morning when I tried to wash.

Restaurant food was below average.

Dust on display shelf in restaurant.

Reception staff excellent.
Room I stayed in was claustrophobic, drab, eggshell/beige walls, the layout was not cohesive, the bed was a few inches off the ground like a Japanese house, which I did not like, having the window open let in a lot of noise, with neighbouring front driveways being very close by with a lack of privacy, and overall I did not like the room much at all.
Breakfast was ok but when ordering 2 cooked dishes, they were brought out at the same time so one went cold and was wasted. A little thought would say bring one then the other. Food quality was acceptable. Selection of breakfast was good.

My bed was sagging in the middle.
The photos on the website are deceptive.

Lovely lady min booking as we had taken our daughter to uni,the hotel was lovely and clean,staff really friendly, the hotel room was cold and no control over the heating,no hair dryer in the room which was disappointing but a quick call to reception a good hairdryer was brought up,the pool was closed which we werent made aware off on booking and the hot tub freezing,tiles on yhe side of the hydrotherapy pool that had come off and just left there, however we enjoyed the room but were disappointed with the leisure facilities we would stay again because the staff were so lovely and accomadating

Left disappointed

Unfortunately a disappointing stay, hotel is showing its age and the service at reception was poor. Waited a while to be checked in and then waited so long to check out I had to leave to get to work and then return in my own time later to finalise my stay. They were having internet issues which I appreciate is not there fault however I left disappointed at my time being wasted and feeling as though I had paid far to much for a below average hotel. Unfortunately I won’t be returning
