Clean room and good size bathroom. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Plenty of free on-site parking too.
Only downside was trying to get the tv to work, it seemed to only work by logging into our personal streaming services rather than having say freeview.

We stay here regularly whilst visiting family. I love it because everyone is very friendly, the beds are super comfy and there is a bath in the bathroom. It's walking distance into town even after a few drinks in the very reasonably priced bar! It's dog friendly too.
Big carpark and surprisingly quiet after the bar closes. Usually football on the TV in the bar which keeps my husband happy (depending on play...) 😅 The Highfield is always our first choice when planning to come to Boro.

Arrived Sunday afternoon, room very cold so turned up radiator and went out. Returning that evening, room very hot, could not turn down radiator. Reported to \"morning manager\" who said it would be sorted. Not sorted, radiator control broken had to move room, when returned late evening.
Key card kept failing, numerous replacements needed. Mixed \"Grill\" obviously microwaved. Bar person trying to sort out tv in bar using much foul language during process. A very outdated and tired Hungry Horse style menu, needs to be revised as per other GK pubs.

An out of town hotel, part of the Greene King pub chain. Room was clean and comfy apart from the radiators which were tempremental/not working (meaning the room was a little cold. Bathroom was a bit dated but not a show stopper.

Always stay here when we're in Boro. Nice, warm, comfy rooms with big bed and a great bath. Friendly and unpretentious place.Great bar with reasonable prices and a good range of beers. Walkable into town or a few quid for a taxi. Quiet after the bar closes, but not really noisy when open anyway.

The first impressions of the room were good but there was some peeling wallpaper on the ceiling above the bed which detracted from the overall finish. The room was very warm with no individual heating control despite the radiator being turned off so we didn’t sleep as well as expected. Otherwise convenient city based franchised pub/hotel.

The staff were all lovely and the room was clean and tidy. I think it worth mentioning that in the bathroom in my room the towel rail and the electric shaving socket were both high up - probably too high for shorter people.

The beer and evening meal were so so. I was there on a Monday after a hot weekend so beer supplies were down. My first three choices were unavailable.

Breakfast was fine.

A big problem for me was not the hotel, but that Expedia is advertising the hotel as being at 358 rather than 385 Martson Road. I walked from the railway station and arrived at 358 Martson Road and realised I was not at the right address.

Issue with shower curtain resolved hassle free as soon as raised. Rooms are clean, restaurant not so (all tables seemed to be sticky). Old building so some wear and tear evident (ie leak water marks, broken old skirting etc). Staff friendly and welcoming. Restaurant also let us down as many drink items on menu were not available.

Car park, plenty of room but be prepared to have your spare wheel stolen, windows smashed and tools taken. 3 vehicles were done over when I stayed (for a week). According to the police it happens a lot and the CCTV is useless. So be careful, make sure everything is out of sight if parking there and make sure if you have an underslung spare wheel that it has extra locks on it.

to be honest i was impressed better than i expected, bathroom was immaculate. bed was so comfy i fell asleep a few times before my bed time. heating was lovely although could get very hot but i like toastie.
tv with freeview brilliant.

food was good to although i could had done with more chips instead of more coleslaw.

had a vending maching for after hours which was great.

We booked the Highfield Hotel for a short break, to visit family and friends. It's our first time staying here, but it wont be the last. Check-in was faultless and easy, with a friendly member of staff. After a recent refurb, the rooms are beautifully decorated & very comfortable and even though we we only stayed for 3 nights, our room was cleaned every day and was nice & fresh when we returned each day. Breakfast was a fab selection and the food in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and good sized portions. The only negative is the exterior is looking a little tired and the windows definitely need replacing for double glazing, but that didnt prevent the room from being cosy & warm.

Have stayed here many times but the rooms have been refurbished so they are nicer. Liked that we could bring the dog in. Very comfy bed and surprisingly quiet at night
The hotel is a 20 min walk from the town centre which is perfect for us. Have never had any problems here and the staff are always friendly. I especially like that the rooms have proper baths, deep with loads of hot water, such a treat! Looking forward to our next visit already.

The staff were polite but never took any responsibility.
The room was dirty my wife had to wipe the inside of the wardrobe. Light switch was dirty had to be cleaned and the curtains needed a wash. Bathroom floor was dirty shower would go hot and cold due to the old boiler as advised by a manager. Mould on the bathroom ceiling and around the bath. Flush handle was loose and could be pulled off. Poor wifi no tv signal as mentioned in the list of services. We did complain about the above but no one seemed bothered. Breakfast was good and choice was ok. We booked for 3 nights and only stayed for 2. A manager did inform us that some of the rooms were going to be updated at the end of Jan 22. Furniture was poor thrown better out.

This hotel has so much potential. It’s very cute on the outside with a nice restaurant on the inside. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room itself was not great. It was freezing cold when I walked in. The bathroom was horrible. From missing grout on the floor tiles to mold in the shower. No proper soap, just body wash. There was a smell on the pillows and you can hear everyone as they walk through the hallways just outside. There was also a horrible smoke smell when I left the room in the morning. The breakfast was decent. Would have loved decent coffee and not instant coffee packets. Overall, you get what you pay for.

We were dropping my duaghter off at Uni for 1st time and needed a bed fro the night. Everyone was lovely, the rooms were comfortable but just needed some TLC. I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast I had vegetarian full English [ childsize because of fruit and cereal 1st] but the sausge was overcooked and a bit crunchy. Overall a pleasant stay though.

Eveing meal was good I had sa naked steak (Steak and salas) and the salad was large which is what you want. reasonably priced food as expected for a Hungry Horse.

We stayed in 2 rooms as I was traveling with my teenage daughter. We had room 3 and 5. 5 was wuite nice, goid size, comfy, bathroom not great but functional.
Rm 3 smelt awful, my daughter said she'd be ok but I could not sleep with the smell.
It was cheap and almost cheerful, could be better with a bit of TLC, hope they can iron out the issues.
Overall, not unhappy and id probably stay again if I was in the area.

Had to stand waiting for 10 minutes to check in at reception,I know it’s doesn’t sound that bad but had been at work all day etc…,WiFi was rubbish and normal signal was poor as well,on asking a member of staff she said it’s cuz the pub is full,but at 11 that night it was still non existent with an empty pub.

The TV didn’t work either and the rooms and bathrooms were in poor condition,the staff were friendly and the service was okay overall.

Our stay was ok however when we arrived it was very busy in the restaurant and there was nobody on the desk to greet us, we had to stand around with our cases for about 10 minutes and when my partner asked the woman behind the bar if somebody could help us she said “she will get someone to come when she has a minute, you’ll just have to wait” so already we were a bit annoyed with the service. Finally we got checked in, however the room was freezing cold when we arrived, the door kept jamming and took about 10 minutes to open. We asked a member of staff 3 times to help us but they wouldn’t, they just kept saying there was nothing wrong with the key, even though we explained it was the door itself. There was no soap or anything in the bathroom and the Slats on the bed were broken. Just think the place needs a bit of refurbishment as it was quite run down and they need more staff when it is busy. Don’t think we will be returning.

Staff unable to find key to room as previous Tennant left with it. 20 minutes to sort spare key. Water running hot then cold even not a peak. When walking back to my room from shower I notice something on top of wardrobe, it's dirty cups and plates from previous Tennant. I mentioned this and showed person on desk before I went into bar for evening and it was still there upon my return 3 hours later.
I would say though the bar staff were very nice and helpful and gave me a few free drinks as apology for key trouble

The bathroom was dirty. The shower cubicle was fit for a person no taller than 4ft 6ins who would have to be a contortionist to get into it. There was so much road traffic noise as there was no double glazing. Hotel management seemed non-existent; they had run out of bread at breakfast time

It is a nice building with a great lawn area outside and a lively pub; but not too noisy. The rooms are a little bit tired but comfortable enough and reasonably priced. The one little niggle is that there was no soap in the bathrooms and when I asked they said they don't provide soap. The staff were friendly and helpful.
