We enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay at the Castle House. The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was extremely well appointed and full of character, and our breakfast was delicious. The location right in the heart of the town centre was excellent, and we were able to park nearby. Highly recommended!

What a lovely BnB, such character within the whole building as its so old. Parking is just outside if you get a space but dont forget to get a parking disc from the property.
Our stay was just for one night sadly but would defiantly stay again. there is a honesty bar if you dont want to venture out to the local pub across the road.
Breakfast was chosen the night before which we didnt have an issue with, the offerings were excellent including the buffet choice with fruit/cereals and juices etc...before our chosen full English...yummy
Didnt have time to stop and look around Richmond itself but it looked when driving through to be a great place to wander and shop in the cobbled square.

Room was lovely with the bonus of a real fire, historic building in the centre of Richmond. Breakfast was great but the tables should be organised differently (my opinion only). There is no parking and parking is restricted to 2 hours outside. Over all a great stay

Room was clean. I would not class this B & B as Luxury.
Bathroom sink was cracked. Issue with dripping taps on the bath, difficult to turn off.
Sink hot water tap needed turned sereral times to get a good flow.
As the run was a family room, there was no warnings for the hot water and a child could have scolded themselves as it was so hot.
Heating was very hit and miss althoughh electric heaters were supplied in room.
Couldnt get the large window to shut.

Breakfast snug was cold and drafty.

Sitting room had a fire but never lit. Too cold to sit in.

Host Nigel was very nice and friendly.

Parking an issue, had to move vehicle every 2 hours through the day. That is a general statement for parking in Richmond.

Was a lovely b&b felt so welcome from start to finish arrived to a friendly welcome and complimentary drinks and help to our rooms which was beautiful and cozy like a home from home all the finishing touches dressing gowns even a hot water bottle the beds was so comfy and lovely soft sheets had a fantastic night sleep didn't want to get up.
The breakfast was a definite 10/10 honestly if you get a chance i would highly recommend it i will definitely be returning

You cannot get better

Lovely period house full of character with 3 floors of bedrooms. The rooms are elegantly appointed with real antique furniture. Our room had a claw foot bath and comfy double bed. Breakfast was a feast of locally produced sausages, bacon, eggs, black pudding and bread. I never eat black pudding but this was delicious so give it a try. Friendly owner was very helpful.

Property is very old. Our room was completely lopsided so wouldn’t be good for someone with mobility issues. Needs a bit of spruce up as the photos don’t show the property’s current condition. Carpets need replacing and flooring in bathroom had cracked tiles. Very quiet though and couldn’t hear the noisy pubs around which were playing loud music with noisy shouting in the gardens. Windows have secondary glazing which kept it quiet. Breakfast was nice but tables close together. Property asked for cash - no reason given but felt odd. Okay for a nights stay or as a base to explore the dales.

We just turned around and left. The host describes this place as LUXURY 😂😂😂😂 in reality it’s the opposite!!!! Do not believe the description on Expedia.
We contacted Expedia who in all fairness reached out to the host to see if we could get a refund but to no avail.
Do yourself a favor and give this one a miss.
Dirty! Old furniture!! Cluttered NOTHING like the pictures on Expedia. We paid for the suite upstairs. You could not have paid me to sleep in that bed.
If you go through the reviews there are only about 4 that give this place a POOR rating, I do not believe all the positive ratings unless all those people live in a cave!!
This place is a disgrace and Expedia should delete it from their selection..
You have been warned!!!!!!!!

It was a lovley old building and the floors & ceiling reflected the age of the place. The room was huge it had an open fire but we didnt use it had a stand alone bath but we never used. The shower was an electric standard model a bit of a dissappointment but it done the job. Overall a nice place.

We were disappointed by this B&B. Advertised as 'luxury' I booked this for me and my partner as a stopover travelling home from an extended time away due to an unexpected family bereavement. I'd be interested to know how the proprietors consider their B&B to fit the 'luxury' description. The room was tired and dominated by oversized furniture. Bed OK. Bathroom functional. TV in the room was shoehorned into a corner and consequently unwatchable. Not worth what we paid for the room. Breakfast was mediocre. Welcome drink a nice touch.

The property was very clean and room spacious. The bed was terrible, most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Hard and lumpy. It was so bad I had to sleep on the duvet with my sweater on as I was cold. Mattress needs to be replaced

Parking was supposed to be free, we thought there was parking on the property but we had to find a parking spot in town and then ask for a free disc, which need to be changed every 12 hrs

Staff were immensely helpful and friendly, the cooked to order breakfast was excellent and the check in process easy. It’s a traditional B&B which is good value for money, our room (Wensly) was spacious and traditional, if you want ultra modern then this is not the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay would go back again and highly recommend to others especially the ideal location for shopping, National heritage, museums and walks.

On arrival we was asked to fill in a form which included our personal information this was left in the hallway as we stepped in the front door.We waited for someone to show us our room, on entry to the room we was offered a welcoming drink, The room wasn't what i expected due to the dust and dirt and old worn-out furniture .Windows with cobwebs and dirty ,Broken blinds, Fire place was covered in dust from the fire which must have been left for weeks due to the weather.
Ornaments filled the walls and all around the room wasn't cleaned completely dusty.
The chairs that sat in the room wasn't safe the legs were nearly off , the cover of the arms had holes in. There is a beautiful bath in the room, but not useful due to no place to put toiletries or towels. Dressing table was in the darker side of the room, no lights too be able to see to do make-up, nor no plugs for hairdryer, i really didn't expect to have to sit on the floor to do the above mentioned. The bathroom, was truly awful for hygiene reasons, who wants to use glasses that are sat on a shelf in line with the toilet.The bed itself was very comfortable and clean linen. Room service wasn't quite what we expected, the welcome drinks glasses were still sat in the room on Monday even though they staff been in the room to place the breakfast menu. No serving was given.Breakfast was good selection. dining room wasn't good, you sat in line alongside the other guests, table and chairs don't fit unless you sit at an angle.

Check in was exactly 4pm and not a minute before, especially if you wanted to get a parking space outside of the place, and you arrived there earlier. Some places we've visited have let us book in slightly earlier. You paid for the accommodation straight away on arrival, instead of when you check out as normal. Bed was comfortable and room was clean, but could have done with a lick of paint, and sofa in room and other bits of furniture were looking well worn. Apart from that, breakfast was lovely, and owner was very accommodating. Brand name toiletries, biscuits, tea/coffee, and an alcoholic drink on arrival.

Location in centre of Richmond. Stayed in 1st floor Richmond suite which was very spacious, full of character and very comfortable. Minor hiccup no milk provided- soon rectified. The shower handle in this room handle needs repair. Super bath and comfy 4 poster bed. very romantic. TIP: Do not have window open on a weds night as thursday morning the very noisy bin men arrive at 6.45am. Breakfast lovely, although we were a little uncomfortable in the allocated richmond table by the snugs window which was quite squashed. As new visitors to Richmond we were confused with parking in this town. You must use a free 2 hour parking disc available from most shops or the B&B to park near the B&B. If you are arriving early and exploring town i'd advise parking in a pay and display carpark and move car later nearer the B&B. Owners really helped us with our particular needs and we were grateful).

This hotel is an absolute find! It really could not have been better. Exceptionally clean, warm welcome, you feel very 'looked after' by Nigel and his Team but in an unobtrusive way. Little touches like really good quality toiletries and a large bottle of water in the room all come together to make for a 5 star plus stay. Is superbly situated in Richmond Town Centre. We only stayed one night but was very impressed with everything. We had a good nights sleep and a beautiful breakfast of our choice, we was not rushed and checked out at a reasonable time 10am. We also had an evening stroll around the castle that was practically next door. Plenty of places to eat and If you fancy fish and chips there’s one near by. Lots of history and beautiful scenery. Would recommend and would stay again.

A very friendly welcome when I arrived and I got a car parking disc loaned so I could park outside the hotel. A very comfortable bed and room, and considering it was a Saturday evening it was quiet too.
The owner kindly gave me an early breakfast on Sunday before I left for work.
If I could give 11/10 I would. 😀

Stayed a few nights for family funeral. Check in was extremely courteous; we were helped with our bags to our room and offered a complimentary drink. The house is an old building so expected some quirks (our room was on a slope but we are seasoned campers so that just added to the charm) Attention to detail was lovely. Plenty of YORKSHIRE tea and milk on hospitslity tray and this was reenished next day. Chocolate provided for each guest and lovely L'Occitaine products in the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. A sheet was provided the night before for you to select exactly what you wanted which made service reallly efficient and the breakfast room was laid up beautifully with white linen and crockery. The breakfast itself was delicious. Plentiful tea, delicious sausages, perfectly executed poached eggs (all other egg options also available) and the best breakfast tomatoes I have ever tasted. All in all a lovely stay - would definitely use again and recommend.

Aysgarth room not ideal if you're tall

We had the Aysgarth room. A nice, if not small room with 2 beds and a welcome glass of wine on arrival, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately we weren't aware when we booked that it was in the attic with low ceilings and 2 low beams. Although there were 'mind your head' signs, my husband banged his head several times. The room was also the fire exit, so had a green exit light on all the time, which kept me awake, so not a great sleep. Breakfast was disappointing. Firstly we were allocated a time of 8.30am, which was a little early for a weekend away. We were told we couldn't change this either. A pre-order for food, which again, is OK, but not preferable. My husbands muesli was on the table when we got down to breakfast, I ordered porridge, which I had to wait for. Solid with cream poured on when it arrived, but started to eat anyway, only to have my cooked breakfast delivered to the table mid way through. Cooked breakfast was good. Hot and well cooked. No offer of more tea/coffee or toast. Breakfast service was run by two teenage girls, no good morning, no asking whether had a good stay, no goodbye when we left. Nice establishment, but service left an awful lot to be desired. Richmond is great though and recommend dinner at The Fleece
