From arrival to departure Glenda and Daniele were amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. We were upgraded to room 3 which was beautiful and comfortable. Gorgeous views of the garden. Just an overnight stay, I wish it had been longer. Very comfortable room, lovely dinner (with homemade ice cream) and my favourite breakfast (scrambled egg & smoked salmon). Easy to park.

We arrived on a wet and windy teatime and were very warmly welcomed by the host. The property was very homely and cosy and the room was very nice, they had thought of everything including shower caps which I appreciated. There was even some rhubarb pie for us- a lovely touch. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and plentiful. If we come back to the area we will be sure to use again and thank you for the cake recipe which I cant wait to make

Great owners, nice place and good breakfast. The room was very small and a bit cramped, and the bathroom was across the landing - but I knew about the bathroom and it was cheaper because of this. The heating was a bit hit and miss, didn’t come on early enough and I never found the ideal radiator setting. But overall it was a good base for a wedding.

Excellent room, were given an upgrade which was brilliant as it was our anniversary. Only issue was getting into the guest house on arrival. We had replied to an e mail requesting our time of arrival , arrived 20 minutes early and used large metal door knocker but got no answer we then rang the mobile quoted on the wall plaque and left a message. We found out later that this number was incorrect. After waiting in the car for 20 minutes we rang the landline only to discover that the landlady was actually inside all along.

Home baked cake on arrival and lovely breakfast. The owners were very friendly but respected your privacy...Beautifully looked after every where; very comftable. The only thing was, my room was rather small. However, this wouldn't stop me returning, it was lovely.

Homelands is a lovely guest house, we found it easily and were welcomed by Glenda and Daniele, who are such a friendly couple from Tuscany. Their little touches were lovely, such as home made cakes. Our garden suite was pretty and private, the bed was really comfortable. Our only negative was the very cold tiled bathroom floor, perhaps underfloor heating might help for the winter months. Breakfast was excellent, with a cold buffet including fresh fruits, cereals, and yoghurts, plus a full English with local produce. The main house was beautifully decorated and well kept. The town centre with shops and cafes is a short walk away, as is the castle and the river, both of which are beautiful. we ate at one of the Indian restaurants in the evening - All Spice and that was excellent! We would definitely recommend staying at Homelands Guest House!

We stayed as a couple for 2 nights as we were in the area for a friends wedding. The accommodation was lovely and clean, and we were made to feel very welcome and relaxed. What I really liked were all the thoughtful touches such as homemade cookies on arrival and letting us borrow their iron and recommending taxi companies. I would not hesitate to stay again!

As well as fresh fruit, cerials, jams etc I had a cooked breakfast of mushrooms, tomatoes and beans.
A parting gift of an Italian recipe was given to me on departure.
I can not fault the place or the owners - top notch.

Me and my mum stayed here for two nights the rooms were nicely done clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good and well cooked by the host fresh fruit cereals full English salmon poached eggs rooms has tv tea and coffee and even hot chocolate homemade biscuits on arrival which were yummy close to shops restaurants castle and bowes museum will defiantly return this is a fantastic B&B

We had a very enjoyable stay Glenda and Danielle did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfasts were superb. Lovely fresh fruit salad and an excellent cooked grill. Stayed in this village en route further north. Chose Homelands as highly reviewed by other travellers. Warmly welcomed by owner with a much needed cup of tea (could have had coffee or sherry). Lovely room at the back of the property with en suite shower room. Very good quality toiletries supplied. Great attention to detail including face cloths which is helpful when only spending one night somewhere but not often supplied. We would definitely stay here again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Homelands. There was a warm welcome when I arrived, and the accommodation was bright and spotlessly clean. My single room was compact but comfortable, with tv & wifi access, and the ensuite facilities were excellent. The breakfast menu provided a wide range of choice and servings were generous. My room was quiet and I slept well.
