My 2 friends and I loved our 1 night stay in our cottage. Everything was perfect (apart from the beeping radiators which we turned off before bed but forgot the hall one). Food, drinks and staff were brilliant. We paid to use the spa which we had to wait to use as it was full but it worked out really well as there was something really special about being in the heated pool looking up at the moon and stars. We will definitely be back

I booked a cottage but upon arriving I was told that the spa was extra…£65 each for me and my wife. No where on the website did it say or that rooms in the hotel had it included. Given one of the main reasons for the visit was the spa we both felt let down. I also got charged for breakfast when I shouldn’t have.

Room was great got in early Spa was also great we pre ordered chocolate strawberry for my wife’s birthday but it took a few calls to get them delivered.
We ate in Charlie’s and unfortunately it took one hour fifteen for our starters to arrive after having to ask 3 times for someone to take our order then they arrived Luke warm but we were so hungry we ate them.

Starters hadn’t arrived by 9.15pm and to be told that the main we ordered 45mins previously was no longer available.
Bill came with the original main still on it
Lack of staff was evident throughout even after dinner getting a drink in the bar was 30 minutes with only us and another couple in the bar.

Breakfast was poor quality.

Wouldn’t return due to the cost and experience we had as it doesn’t equate.

It could have been better if I actually got my glass of red wine I ordered, I got my pot of tea at breakfast without having to ask a couple of times plus I had to ask when my room was getting cleaned (after 2pm) when I had been out of the room since 11am.

Had a wonderful one night stay for a special occasion. Our primary reason for visiting was the spa and it did not disappoint. We used it the afternoon of arrival and the following morning before breakfast. It was lovely in the cold and we hope to experience it in warmer weather too.

We ate dinner in the hotel and it was very pleasant. Breakfast selection and quality was excellent.

Only some minor feedback: I had a cocktail in the State Room and it was fantastic, and when ordering the same drink in Bar 1745, it was very average. We were also charged for the wrong whisky (at a higher price) but this was changed at checkout without hassle.

I’d really like it if the pizzas in Charlie’s were available year round!

- no availability in the restaurants for 2 of our 3 night stays (never experienced that in any hotel I’ve stayed in before) - we weren’t pre warned we would need to have booked in advance
- felt like thy catered for external guests over those staying in the hotel - whilst they helped provide details of two other restaurants locally they were also fully booked
- called down to reception from the room to change the time of a booking and they said they could cancel it but if I wanted to change the time I would need to physically go down to the restaurant myself as they were too busy - do a high class hotel in though this service was poor
- cleanliness of the rooms was great but in some of the areas I would say it was poor - very dusty and in the restaurant the floors were filthy under the benches
- the gin / whiskey bar was amazing and the manager was wonderfully helpful such fantastic service from her

We enjoyed our relaxing spa weekend away at Schloss Roxburghe. We stayed in one of the cottages. Very cosy, very clean. However there were factors that could have been improved such as service from staff being relatively poor and check in and check out times are transient. Apart from these minor issues, there is nothing major to complain about this hotel. Would visit again!

The room itself was lovely — comfortable, stylish, and exactly what you’d expect from a five-star hotel. Unfortunately, a few details let the experience down. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed, which made service feel a little disorganised at times.

We were told that booking for dinner was essential, but when we walked past later, the restaurant was mostly empty — a bit frustrating. There were also some issues with access to the spa, though thankfully we went earlier in the day and managed to get in without too much trouble.

Dinner was where the experience really fell short. The Chateaubriand, which is a premium dish, arrived still tied with the string on — not what you’d expect from a five-star kitchen. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but a few avoidable details meant it didn’t quite live up to the five-star promise.

Egg station is a good ofdering but on busy mornings large queues, coffee machine cant handle large volumes and toaster inadequate for busy breakfast service. Table Service in bar slow staff very pleasant but could be more attentive with observing drinks being liw and proactively ask if another is required begore glass is empty. We had such a lovely weekend here as a family! From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The spa was beautiful and so relaxing, and the treatments were amazing.

Our room was spacious, super comfortable. The food was delicious — fresh, full of flavour, and delicious.

If I had to mention one small thing, the hot tub and pool could have been a little warmer — but that’s honestly the only tiny thing in an otherwise perfect stay. The whole place has such a calm, luxurious feel, and it was lovely to find somewhere that feels indulgent but still really family-friendly.

We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already talking about when we can come back!

We dined in Charlie’s and the food was average for the money spent, the had the beef not the quality expected for the money we paid. We bought a bottle of champagne at over hundred pounds for the waitress to pour the first glass then be told to “pour the rest yourself” unprofessional from a 5 star resorts. Other than that staff were great and breakfast was good.

We had an unannounced \"turn down\" service let themselves into our room at 9pm on a Sunday night. Not ideal, a bit late and no forewarning or apology. Spa was nice if a little busy. Very slow service at dinner which was not particularly busy, was so slow we didn't stick around to get desserts which was a shame because the food was good. The breakfast was good and varied and the chef at the breakfast bar was friendly and helpful making eggs how you like it, omelettes and pancakes to order. A beautiful property, stunning room but a little underwhelming with the unusual turn down service situation and inattentive waiting staff for dinner.

The Jacuzzi was out of order in the spa and there was no steam room which would have enhanced my relaxation. There are 2 saunas which were nice, the outdoor pool exceptional. The Hot Stone massage was extremely relaxing and worth the money. Overall the Spa was excellent with very friendly staff that could not do enough to help.

An impressive looking property especially at night. The Concierge staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a good feel with lifts to both floors if required. The rooms are well appointed, modern and everything works well. The double shower was perfect. The spa is something else. It starts as you walk down the corridor giving you a feeling of calm with the music and smells. The staff are great, helpful and no silly rules. Once you enter the spa you experience the lovely layout and all the comfortable beds and loungers, almost spoilt for choice. The out door pool is one of the best i have experienced with two saunas a plunge pool and jacuzzi to compliment it all.
Breakfast in the dinning room is very good. An excellent spread of fresh fruit, breads, cold counter and a good quality hot food. There is a chief who will make you anything to do with eggs. There are items they charge extra for which i couldn't understand. Ive never had to pay £7 for a bowl of porridge. Avocado on toast was more. They should look at scrapping them charges.
We stayed at the hotel for a week but only dined in the restaurant (Charlies) on the first night. The portion sizes are simply to small. We came away still hungry. The prices even for a hotel make your eyes water. £19 for the smallest portion of cheese and biscuits i have ever had is not right. The quality and temperature of your coffee is dependent on who makes it.

I stáyed at the Schloss Roxburghe with my boyfriend as a surprise for his 40th birthday. What can i say? For beginners, from the moment you drive through the gates and jead towards the Schloss, your breath is taken away, set in beautiful surroundings, the Schloss Roxburghe looks like something from a story book!
Check in was fast and easy and we were shown around so we knew whete everthing was.
I booked thr kimg suite and.it.was beautiful, very spacious and comfortable and my partner.was.surprised witha lovely hand written card and a birthday message.with cake waiting in our room for him.
The spa is something dreams are made of, we made use of it on the day or arrival and the morning after at 7am, the weather was beautiful so a swim in their infinity pool was the perfect way to begin our day. Breakfast was bountiful, with such a large choice. They literally have everything you could possibly want. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing.
From start to finish, our trip was one to remember and we cant wait to return. Thank you Schloss Roxburghe for an amazing stay.

This is a lovely hotel, staff were great, food was fabulous. They have an excellent pastry chef. It’s a relaxed hotel in a quiet area. Very handy for travelling by car from Newcastle.

One point, some rooms are directly above the function room and there was a wedding on when we were there. They lit fire pits which meant our room quickly filled with the smell of smoke. We had wanted our bedroom window open at night but couldn’t because of the fire pits, even when they moved them round the corner the smoke was still coming into the room. It’s also a bit noisy if you have a room above the function room as wedding guests came outside. However, the weddings stop at midnight so you can get to sleep after that.

Lovely accommodation, castle rooms felt a little tired but the bathrooms were excellent. The drawing room space is a wonderful retreat. The bar is not staffed as often as I’d expect and it was occasionally challenging to get a mid morning coffee. The spa staff were pretty unfriendly about small children coming through the entrance due to treatments taking place but they have set children’s swim time of 9-10 and 4-5 so these policies and practices seemed at odds with one another.

We booked this hotel following positive feedback from friends.

I can safely say this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. From the warm hospitality of the staff, to the cleanliness of the room, the exquisite food, and the range of facilities at our leisure, it was just incredible. The spa and its heated outdoor pool was a particular highlight.

It was a simply phenomenal experience. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but worth every single penny.

This hotel was the perfect midweek getaway for a night to get rid of the January blues. We booked a room in the estate section of the hotel which going by pictures gives you a more modern room and is situated within the extension to the hotel.

The room was clean, as was the rest of the hotel. There was everything you would need in the room. I’m told by my partner the provided hairdryer is the best of any she has used at previous stays at other hotels, so bonus points there.

I’m not one for Spas but my partner loves them. But even I was impressed. Outdoors there is a choice of two saunas, a heated outdoor pool and a hot tub. There’s also a plunge pool if you’re feeling brave.

Indoors you have plenty of relaxation beds and you can also directly access the heated pool via a sliding door.

There was plenty of towels during our visit as well as water, herbal tea and dried fruits within the Spa.

We stayed on a Monday during January and there was no issues using any of the spa facilities. On a weekend you may have a bit of a wait for some of the outdoor facilities.

We had dinner at Charlie’s and the food was good, a little expensive but that’s to be expected. Service was attentive and friendly.

After dinner we headed to the 1745 Club/Bar which is where we spent the rest of the evening. It gives a nice cosy, warm vibe which is exactly what we needed on a cold January evening.

My only negative would be the lack of a drink on arrival.

The reason we visited this property was for the spa, this unfortunately turned out to be a real disappointment. It was soooo over crowded that it completely ruined the whole experience. When we arrived at the spa, there were no locks left to leave our possessions in. Then, we entered the spa and had to wait for ages to get a lounger.

Once we got settled on our lounger we went into the pool, the pool is great. We then went to go into the jacuzzi pool, it was full. We waited for ages and eventually gave up.

We the returned to our lounger to chill out. At this point there was more and more people arriving at the spa, these new arrivals were just walking about looking for somewhere to sit or lie down. It was like a cheap all inclusive in Costa Brava back in the 80's, all that was missing was the German's coming down at 6am to leave a towel on a bed!

The spa facilities are great, there are just far to many people in the spa at any given time. There was absolutely nothing relaxing about this Spa.

Excellent luxury spa hotel. Very helpful and attentive service. Excellent food in Charlie’s. Also enjoyed the lunchtime bar food and many fine touches around the hotel. Enjoyed the heated pool and spa. Special thanks to the young woman who welcomed us at check in and to James from Sunderland for keeping us entertained in the whisky bar despite his injury. Room very nice. All round excellent stay in the Scottish Borders

Had a fabulous night away for my husband's 50th birthday. Overall the hotel and spa are lovely. Great room with lovely decor.
We had a drink in Whisky bar. Huge selection of whisky's. Ate at Charlie's restaurant where the food was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and spoiled my husband for his birthday.
Will definitely return.

Only a slight thing but our room was said to have a mini bar however there was only a few warm drinks on the table rather than kept in a fridge which I would not call a mini bar. Everything else in the hotel was excellent and cannot fault.
