This is one of the better APA hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are small but clean and have plenty of amenities. A nice extra was the free movie channel. The breakfast, although focused mainly on the Japanese palette, had enough variety for all. The room rate was incredibly affordable. Overall a nice comfortable stay. Recommended.

We arrived an hour earlier for check in and lady at the front desk told us that if we would like to check in earlier we will need to pay additional 1000 yen per each hour. So room was ready. We stayed at 7 different hotels on our trip and Apa was the only one asking for payment for earlier check in even if room was ready. Otherwise hotel was good, clean, room was on the small size (on the photos looks bigger). We opted for breakfast which we did not like.

Really good property, standard APA Hotel room. Very spacious and roughly a 6 minute walk from the main Himeji station. Good for solo travelers and dual travelers. Solo travelers can fit their check in, carryon and personal here. Two people can, but if they pack a tad lighter.

A real Japanese contemporary hotel

It's a super clean hotel, really gorgeous interior. The staff is so polite and so very helpful! They made sure the Takyubin would take our luggage to Kyoto on time for the next day, was so helpful to us! They were great! It's a shame the room and bathroom are so small, but it's a Japanese hotel, so that's how it is in this kind of hotel. Good price for what you get.

I would stay here again!

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Shower space was odd and water couldn’t be contained in the shower so floor was fairly wet. We were able to watch a movie in English which was a welcoming respite after being on the road for 12 days. Also the location was perfect to walk to the Himeji Castle and garden area and many reason Otemae-dori street.

Stayed again.

I stayed by myself last year but this time I stayed with my son. Room was large enough for 2 adults.
Close to Himeji Castle and many restaurants.

A disappointing stay

We arrived at 1.30pm, which was earlier than the 3 pm checkin and asked if we could have an early check in if our room was ready. It was heavily raining outside.
We were informed that we could check in early for a fee of 10000 yên. We have travelled to Japan many times and have never experienced this.This response was not welcoming and inhospitable, given the terrible weather that day. We felt that an exception could have been made.

Comfortable and well equipped for a short stay. Rooms are a little smaller than some similar hotel chains, but perfectly OK and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. UK TV news and English language films were a plus.

Not too bad.

Finding the parking was difficult. My friend is a native Japanese speaker and called in advance to confirm the correct parking location but was given inaccurate directions. We had to move the car or pay more for parking because of that.

Property was in a good location however a few things were not up to standard:

1. The room air conditioning did not work

2. The bathroom fan did not work

3. We were required to surrender our room key each time we left the hotel and if we did
not return by midnight we were locked out of our room until the morning!!!

Is in a very convenient place, between a JR station and Himeji Castle. The staff is very nice. Tho, the hotel has old installations: no usb connectors and just two in the whole room.

Almost a Good Hotel

The hotel was convenient. The staff were extremely helpful. It was great to have a descent place to do laundry. The Wi-Fi was fast with a strong signal. The room was clean, as per Japanese standards. Our only complaint was the bed! The mattress was a wire spring type (I thought they stopped making those in the 1950s!). It squeaked every time one of us moved, and it was so soft we seriously considered sleeping on the floor. It was just awful!

A real disappointment.

After traveling around Japan for several days and staying in other hotels, this was a real disappointment. It was way overpriced, compared to other, nicer hotels. We paid twice as much, but got far less. The room was very small, even by Japanese standards. The staff was not nearly as friendly or helpful as we found at other hotels. The amenities were minimal. There is a building demolition going on next door. Thankfully we were there on the weekend, otherwise that likely would have been very noisy. Finally, the hallway smelled of smoking, even though we had a non-smoking room. Just not a good value for the money.

This APA hotel in Himeji had the typical small rooms, without much room to set up and open luggage. The room was clean and had all the amenities needed, but looks a bit worn and dated. We had 2 rooms for our family and both beds had mattresses that were rather hard and lumpy. We used the laundry facility in the hotel which had 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. We were not allowed to check in before 3:00 PM, but the hotel held our luggage for us so we could spend the afternoon visiting Himeji Castle. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Himeji station and about a 15 – 20 minute walk to Himeji Castle. English language BBC news channel is available on the TV. Wi-fi worked well.

The room was very small and not comfortable, chipped paintwork and dated decor. The bed was very uncomfortable, felt like there was a mattress Spring pushing into our backs.
Location was convenient to train station and the castle and shops.
This wasn't exactly a budget priced hotel compared to others we had staying in across Japan, so expected a little more.

A few minute walk from station and another few minutes away fro main attraction - Himeji Castle. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Strange room design, lamp above mirror without adequate shading, the light glare into the eye and make sleeping uneasy while partner is working, very uncomfortable, I have to used paper to shade strong illumination!

A very pleasant stay. Hotel room was small but comfortable and clean. It is located within 10-15mins walking distance to the train station and bus termnal. Hotel staff were very hospitable, polite and smiley. They kept the gloves my husband left in the lobby and sent it to Kyoto on our request. Food and shopping is within reach.

The location was perfect, about 10-15 minutes walk from the train station, close to lots of cafes and restaurants etc. Then just a good stroll up to the Castle, which is really the only reason for being here!
The only real negative for me was the breakfasts, everything was lukewarm, and lukewarm eggs and bacon are just plain wrong! It would've been nice for them to turn on the food warmers but I guess they were saving money? And the coffee was typically weak too, luckily there are lots of good coffee shops nearby. All in all, a decent place for a short stay,

Very quiet if you keep the window closed - use the air con. Typical small room in Japanese business hotel. Easy walking distance to main train station and lots of shopping and food places. Bed was a bit firm for my liking, though. Othewise all good. Have booked into this hotel again, so it gets my approval!

On the positive side, this hotel is easy to find and close to the main strip in Himeji (but so is every other hotel in this small city). Now here are the negatives: small room, uncomfortable bed, cheap soaps, and they give you only ONE key card, which means you can't leave devices charging or the air conditioner on if, say, you step out for breakfast. Stay here only if you're getting an amazing deal.

Did not enjoy this hotel at all.

Room was extremely small, the pillows were really hard and very uncomfortable. Semidouble bed was tiny, even for Japan standards. Bad service, when we asked to have more pillows for our room : we were told they only had 1 left to spare and they gave it to us without a pillowcase, we had to ask for a pillowcase.

Initially there was a misunderstanding on the rooms booked. Confirmation stated I have booked two rooms. The hotel initially said just one room at the price that I have paid. After I showed them the email, they further checked and realised there was a mistake on their part. All ended well and I had the two rooms.

The lobby was grander. Rooms are neat but small. My room was warmer than the other room. Could not adjust the room temperature. The surrounding was wonderful with lots of shops and restaurants. Location was excellent.
