CONS:
The rooms were absolutely neglected. Doors easy to open; the latch was barely holding on; being in the room don't feel secure at all. Water smelled like sewage (shower, faucet, everything); not tolerable. It smelled too strong that we couldn't stay in for more than 1 hour. There were cockroaches, too.

Good thing, I mainly booked it to store our belongings and get access to the beach. I suppose it was better than having our stuff out in the open where random people and vendors keep walking in/out.

PROS:
The staff were very nice and sweet. Walking distance to the beach. The room is a good size, if you can hold your breath for a long time. They don't allow outside food, and you can get a fine if you bring/eat some outside food, so you have to buy food in their restaurants, but the food is a bit pricey. They are flexible with food requests, and nice about it though. Overall the staff are nice (at least to me).

Do not stay at this Hote. It was damaged a few years back by a Typhoon, the owners never repaired the hotel. Rooms are terrible, and anyone can just walk up to your room from the local area.It wsa a horrible and unsafe experience.

Fall from Glory

I had stayed at Blue Rock numerous times a few years back. It was always a nice, clean well maintained property. It was never glamorous, but always decent. Not so this time. Sink stayed clogged even after reporting it, internet was nonexistent, safety rails on balconies and stairs were rusted through at the bottoms, shower handle was missing, and tv satellite was out the whole time, plus other numerous issues . I was very disappointed with the state of the property. I'll not stay there again.

The only thing I liked was the location and the staff. The worst part is that I made a reservation for 3 people and they gave me a room with one bed. And they wanted to charge me an extra 500PHP for a bed. And of course I didn't pay. And they put a mattress for the child to sleep on. Other than that, the Resort is old. There are leaking faucets that wet the bathroom floor. The toilet lid is broken. The pool has green water. They turned off the pool lights early. Making it impossible to enjoy the night. The place has an extra 100php per adult and 50php per child for the Environmental Fee. And this information was not available anywhere. to get to the Resort. I thought I was being taxed for being a tourist. Anyway, I will not go back to the hotel. I did not feel comfortable trying the cuisine. I ordered food from Grabb.

Worst Hotel Stay

Hotel was old, dilapidated and rundown, ceilings had holes.

Toilet had a sewage smell emanating when using the tap, flushing the toilet and when turning on the shower.

No basic amenities provided, not even complimentary bottled water were provided.

Only stayed 1 night and had to move to another hotel at around the same price range.

I'll never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

Stay away unless you are on an extreme budget!

Dated hotel . Staff was not friendly . Would not even respond when I greated them with a “Good morning!” The place is old and dated , the staff walks around the so called - resort like zombies !
The Water always backed up in the shower.The staff appeared to have an attitude when we asked to order food !
Do yourself a favor and stay at the Harley hotel down the street instead.

This place is not rated as a one star, the building is in horrible shape. Electric is lost several times a day or the whole day with no generator back up. Pool is green. Electrical outlets hanging out of the wall. Sink water faucets will not cut off and leaking on the floor. Hot water heater will trip off due to no water pressure. Room smells of mold. Walls are dirty. Food menus don’t have 80 percent of the menu options. The waitress is embarrassed because they keep having to say sorry about no food or beer options. Expedia please take the blue rock off your hotel options. Nasty mangey cats looking for food. Rain leaks on the dining room tables. Thanks.

I have to say that the property site is on a very beautiful beach, the water is clean and clear, the staff tries to rake the beach every morning while doing their daily cleaning. The area is family friendly and great for small children, no complaints about the area or beach! But my stay wasn’t what I believed I purchased online, let me explain; the room I booked wasn’t the room I purchased, when I complained about it they gave me the room, it was very very outdated, the room haven’t been used in I believe months, there wasn’t any bulbs in the light fixtures, the shower fixtures wasn’t connected, no running water or plumbing. Once I told them at the front desk they agreed to fix everything while I go have lunch. Once I returned a couple hours later and wanted to shower, I turned the water on to get warm for my shower, as I grabbed the shower head I got a electrical shock of electricity that knocked me back. I once again spoke with the front desk and they switched rooms…wow! This new room was a small upgrade from worse to poor, the entry door had a gap underneath that I can see the outside, I watched bugs walk in without any issues. My weekend stay probably would have been better if I stayed in a tent on the beach and only used their public toilets and showers.

It has gone downhill post Covid. Light bulbs out, fridge door would not close fully, cabinets missing handles just in our room. It was the same all over the resort.

Food used to be on the high side for price worth it. Now food is still on the high side (higher now) and quality has dropped significantly.

I booked and payed for 5 days , but after 1 night we decided to leave as the hotel was so run down , broken bed ,broken furniture , broken towel rail , place has not been looked after in years , the pool was filthy , I would not let my daughter go in it , the beach front was filthy , surely it’s in the best interest of the hotel to take care of this , I lost 4 days money , but was just happy to be leaving , I would not put my dog up in such a place as this , this hotel has so much potential being on the beach front , but obviously the owner -s have lost interest ,

This property is really showing it’s age and has not been repaired. Roof leaks on the tables while your eating. The hot water in the rooms don’t work. Old musky smell when you walk in your room. Water pressure is horrible. Very little chlorine in the pool. Food menus are incorrect and food portions are so small except the rice. This was my last time staying at blue rock.

Only thing to like is that it is on the beach. And the lady at front desk was extremely nice and tried to be helpful. The rooms are old. The bar staff during the day didn't offer any service even after I got a menu from there 20 minutes and no asked if we wanted anything. And we were the only people at the bar. Night staff at bar was better. But i just got drinks at other bars down the beach

Only good thing is on beach and good restaurant. Not good value for the price charged. Real bad internet in room that they couldn't fix during my whole stay. No amenities, rooms never cleaned right and sand in all rooms that was never swept. Used to stay here before the pandemic and enjoyed it. The trend by hotels after the pandemic is to cut back on all services and not fix up the properties after been shut down during pandemic and charge higher rates. This hotel is no different, charge more, receive less.

Excellent place. Once you are through check in, the resort and beach access has a private enjoyable and peaceful feeling. Easy beach access, facilities very clean, and the staff is very friendly. Hotel has improved but its best to eat elsewhere

The new rooms in the annex building are a significant improvement and was clean and well taken care of. What unfortunately has gone down hill is the restaurant. It takes real time and effort to fail as a restaurant on as many levels as Blue Rock fails. From wait staff with absolutely no training at all and no interest in taking or delivering orders to kitchen staff that has no ability to provide the items on the menu no matter the amount of time given. Clearly the management of the Blue Rock don't care about customers or they would have friends and family actually test the restaurant out and see the issues first hand. I understand with COVID things are more complicated but maybe the better solution is to reduce the menu down to a simple selection the kitchen with exceptionally basic skills can actually accomplish. Maybe it would be better to replace the menu with hotdogs and hamburgers because eggs are clearly to complex and rice is beyond their current skill set.

The restaurant food was exceptional! I would definitely eat there again and take a date there.

The room I stayed in was a disappointment. The walls had cracks on them. The bathroom vent fan didn’t work so moisture stayed trapped in the bathroom thus creating mold on the ceiling. They should use conventional bed sheets on the bed. They didn’t grab the mattress. The room desperately needed a paint job. The bathroom ceiling needs to be treated for mold and repainted. One of the panels on the entrance door was cracked. I could see outside of my room.

Beach vendors make it intolerable. Duterte needed.

No complaints about resort. Room clean and everything worked. Restaurant very good and lovely waitresses. All staff very friendly and helpful. Big negative were the beach/street vendors. At one time seven were waiting outside the exit to the beach. Continually shouting and waving to get one's attention I couldn't even enjoy the view from the restaurant. They follow you around even though you say no repeatedly. Harassment so bad i stayed off beach. No point staying at beach if you can't enjoy it. I won't be back until the authorities abate the continuous harassment by the vendors.
Away from blue rock the beach is full of trash and litter. Other resorts and businesses look run down or abandoned. Area needs a clean up and redevelopment. What President Duterte did to Boracay is needed here.

Staff friendly, good food, we booked a deluxe room thinking it was high end but it was worse than budget, no windows, the toilet we had to take the top off and fill ourselves as it took the cystern almost 40 minutes to fill. Very noisy, external lights on all night lighting up the room, only one thin blanket, clock on wall not working, to get to the restaurant if it rains you are going to get wet, overall not a good experience and will not stay here again

Well located right on boloy beach with the Restauant over looking the beach. Older style accommodation but large and clean. The mirror on the ceiling is a nice eights touch. You can walk to most places or take a short tricycle ride to the restaurants and bars. There are some nice bars/restaurants back up the road which are a good deal cheaper than the premium price that’s charged for very ordinary food at the blue rocks restaurant.

We had a great time as the place is not over populated, it is peaceful and relaxing, the food is high price but its worth it.

Tip:

When you commute going to the place and in thight budget you may ride the blue jeepney ( 14.00 php per person) and alight at a corner where there is 7/11 store and a land mark Bay Long Beach and ride a tricycle (20php per person) going to the resort.

The taxi on sm olongapo will charge you up to 500 pesos going to Blue Rock but you can haggle the price, we booked for only 350...

We stayed for three days and two nights and we enjoyed it. We enjoyed our stay because the beach was clean and the water was clear. The restaurant food selections were good, even the cocktails at the bar. Staff were friendly though a bit noisy especially for those of us who stayed near their office area. There were vendors outside but they were all polite and friendly. The facilities were old and needed to be renovated, especially the rooms and their accessories, (especially the mini bars) but they have enough amenities in the rooms just in case you forgot something. The pool is well-maintained. Parking is limited.

Staff are excellent (reliable,trustworthy,courteous,kind,efficient,honest made our stay memorable)
Management are very friendly and very helpful and strait-forward down to earth in fact I would say they are excellent.
Owners are gentleman very quick to offer assistance and advice and are excellent men to boot, I have no reservation in recommending this Resort to my friends or people that I meet in my travels.

I have been staying at blue rock for years. The condition of this place has been getting worst. I booked a delux room but after one night I couldn’t stay in room anymore. Most things broke in room. Shower head remotes for TV toilet didn’t flush right had to flush 3-4-5 times for it to go down. I went to check in asked if I could change rooms, so I upgraded to superior room. Better but nothing great. Also in need of repair. They need to fire the whole maintenance crew and get new people that do repairs. They changed a lot of waitresses and bartenders. Why not maintance people? Place is in need of repair. They also charged me regular room rate for upgrade instead of giving me Expedia discounted rate whickywas only $4 per day more for the superior room. I will be looking for new place to stay in subic. Not Blue Rock anymore

Food great as always. The room (5) however, was really small. There were ants everywhere including on the bed. The water is either boiling or freezing so you have to mix it in a bucket. It's clear the rooms have never had a refurb. Would I eat here again? 100% yes. Would I stay here again? Never.

Nice beach front property

The place is deteriorating. It needs rehabbed badly; which, they looked like they've already started, one room at a time. The vanity sink and kitchen sink had very good water pressure, but there was no water pressure in our shower. It was almost just a trickle. We couldn't understand why. They changed the shower head and the hose with a brand new one, and that didn't work. We found out the hot water heater was the culprit. It was badly corroded and rusty. So no matter what the staff and maintenance did to remedy the problem, it was futile. The beds and the rooms should be updated.
The place has a very nice clean beach. The food was really good at their restaurant. The staff and workers were very nice, courteous and would do anything to make you happy and satisfied. Mick, the owner, is very friendly. So that more than made up for the flaws of the property. Caution: This is adults only hotel because the whole area is a white old men's heaven with so many young \"ladies of the night\" readily available at any time.

Over all I liked the hotel, but the bathroom was a bit small. Also I had to get use to how the shower worked. It has this set up where you have to open the water under the box where you open to make the water hot, that was a bit strange. Other then that I was happy with the room. My only complaint was I asked for a hour late check out so I can wait for a friend to come pick me up, and the front desk staff said rather sternly to me, that \"checkout is at 12.\" I didn't think one hour extra was a big deal, but they gave me the feeling they wanted me out. I didn't appreciate that, and it colored the way I felt about that hotel. I am not sure I would go back just because of that final treatment from the staff.

Going down.

Blue Rock used to be the premier resort in the Baloy area. Not any more. Service is bad, food is below average. Definate lack of attention of to detail. Been going there for over 10 years. Never again!!!

Good hotel on the beach!

Close to nightlife but still quite! Diving facilities, water recreational actvities next door, ocean floating bar and good restaurant on the premises. Fantastic oysters on the half shell, the best I've had in Southeast Asia!

Good value hotel with clean rooms and great steaks

The Blue Rock hotel was decent for the price. The food was consistent. The staff was also very helpful. I stayed in a budget room. The room was clean, pretty big and overall, good. The hotel's location was in a bit of an interesting area, but that is Subic Bay as a whole. I would stay at the resort again.

Overpriced food and accommodation dirty rooms

Priced to high for what you receive I was given a room above the kitchen and the exhaust fans vibrate through the room till 230am
Moved rooms this room was poor cleanliness bathroom has mould growing throughout and broken taps hot water had air block spurred out in bits at a time
Pillows old and hard stained badly cleaners lazy empty bins and made bed change towels 5 minutes maximum no linen replacement or toilet or bathroom cleaned very poor standards and mould would be health issue for some people

Subic Bay Escapade

Hotel accommodation was very good. Just an input on the bath accessories such as towel, beach towel should also be provided on the hotel room. Also, just an input, there should always be a warm welcome drink for customers considering that they came from a long ride going to subic bay.

A week in the room with the beach view.

Pleasant, and the staff are very helpful. Ideal location, away from the river coming out of the Subic market. The entrance to get to the long beach is a bit annoying, when your already a paying guest. But have to worry if the guest and family coming to see you will be able to past the check point without any issue. All in all its a good stay.

Decent spot

Had a day to spend at a beach, chose here. It was decent enough. I made a mistake and did not check out the local area first. Lots of places and downtown close by. Instead just lived at the resort. Resort was good. Food great. Beach good. Room could use a spruce up, is quite old but clean. Door doesnt fit right, in bug season I imagine we would get eaten alive. I would go again.
