This hotel was a blend of a great location that was also very quiet since you are staying across the street from a huge temple. The staff at the front desk made sure we had everything we needed and the added bonus of the onsite onsen (very clean) was wonderful after long days exploring winter days in Kyoto. They provide you all the amenities you need for the onsen and we went every day, never having to use the shower in our room. The breakfast buffet felt very traditional, and they make to order staples such as omelettes and pancakes, if requested. The environment here feels like a health resort and you leave every night feeling restored.

Great little hotel opposite the Higashi Hongan-ji Temple 東本願寺（真宗本廟), a few minutes from Kyoto station. Wonderful atmosphere but we did not have time to try the baths or restaurant.

I highly recommend this hotel for others. It was walking distance from Kyoto Train station. And has a free shuttle bus that drops off at various sites in Kyoto once a day on some days of the week. Breakfast had many options and was delicious. Onsen was clean and warm with wonderful high quality free to use facial products and hair products.

Best breakfast Buffet in the world! Homemade high number of Japanese delicacies which had me going back again and again. My room (203) faced the temple across the street, yet I barely heard any street noise. The staff treated me like a most valued customer. And they assisted in an issue with shipping a package back to the states. Despite the slight dings here and there, the hotel was spotless and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I return to Kyoto.

The staff was incredible and very nice. The room was really beautiful and they even given you pajamas which were top notch. They have a public path within the hotel too. The aesthetic is great and they have a beautiful temple across the street to visit and in the mornings usually a small market in front of the temple too.

Hotel Kuu has it all. 5/5!

Room: Clean, spacious, tatami mats, sleep wear, slippers/flipflops, bidet, all amenities from razors to hair dryers and the basic toiletries and shower needs.

Facilities: Breakfast, transport services, Onsen (Tattoo-friemdly - can use even when you have tattoos), even a vending machine near the Onsen/a (Small and Large) with Large Onsen having a sauna and a cold bath, onsen, and an outdoor onsen.

Staff: Friendly and can speak English well. The hospitality is something I'd come back for.

Location: Near public transportation and the Kyoto Station for Shinkansen. Near food places for all types just walk around and you'll find plenty in the direction of the Kyoto station around it. In front is already a temple/shrine and a bus away from the popular tourist spots.

I will definitely stay here again 5/5

Great location. It was about 5-6 minutes from Kyoto train station . Also the main bus stations just located in front of Kyoto
Station. Kyoto tower s just a few minutes from hotel.and a beautiful temple just across street from hotel. Shops and eats within walking distance. The hotel staffs are excellent and helpful. The staffs are try their best to assist you. All the staffs are speaking English. The room are comfortable and good size in Japan’s standard.they let us borrowed umbrella everyday while we were there. Plus starting the month of Nov.2025, the hotel
Has free shuttle bus to take you to the attractions. We wished the hotel had that serviced while we were there. It is not a big hotel . I think it is mix between Japanese and western . It is a female and male public hot tube in the hotel. It was nice to a hot bath after a long day . I definitely would book this hotel again .

We arrived an hour before check-in with hopes to drop our luggage. Instead, we were told that our room was ready, if we wanted to freshen up before exploring the area. Asked for dinner recommendations and were given a map of the local restaurants to choose from. It rained a bit so they loaned us umbrellas. The onsen were marvelous. Laundry facilities on site. A complimentary shuttle bus to the city's must-see sites. Close to the train station. What more can I say?!

We arrived at 7am and staff were courteous and friendly. It took little time to drop off our bags and check in. On our return at 5pm, staff ensured we received our room keys and luggage quickly and explained the rules of the onsen. This hotel is close to Kyoto station and many subway/bus lines. Our room had a great view of the temple in front of the hotel. We had a shared family room for 4, which worked for us (2 twins, 2 futons). The onsen was really good - there're a large and small one which alternate for men and women daily. The staff we great. We used the free hotel bus to start our sight-seeing which was super fun. And, the breakfast was GREAT! Highly recommended, if you want an authentic,Japanese experience without breaking the bank.

This hotel has made our stay in Japan all the more enjoyable. For starters, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast consisted of a variety of both Japanese and foreign cuisine, satisfying my entire family. After a long day, relaxing in the onsen (public bath) is also a highlight of this hotel. As we return to our room, we also have the added bonus of facing directly at the Higashi Honganji (东本愿寺).The room is a bit small and cramped for our family of four, but we got the amazing view.

We stayed at Hotel Kuu Kyoto for five nights with 2 adults and 3 children. The staff were polite and welcoming and could not have been more helpful with and queries we had. Our room was well appointed, roomy and overlooked the temple across the street. There were ample Lawsonand 7/11 convenience stores nearby for snacks and refreshments. The hotel itself is about a 7 minute walk from Kyoto station and easy walking distance to nearby shops and restaurants. We would happily recommend this hotel and if we had the opportunity would definitely return. Thankyou for a relaxing and plesant stay.

I have been coming to Japan on and off for twenty years and Hotel Kuu in Kyoto has by far been one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Its amenities are top notch and really add to the experience of staying in Japan - especially if this is your first trip. A complementary bus to take you to all the key Kyoto spots and a onsen on site to let you close out the day in comfort. And the view from the front door is one of a kind.

This hotel is charming, has all the Japanese vibes and aesthetic you’re looking for, fantastic amenities and is a right next to Kyoto station. But the icing on the cake is the staff - one of the friendliest hotel staffs I have ever met.

I will be staying at this hotel again when I come back to Kyoto.

Very nice atmosphere, clean rooms and a very short walk from Kyoto station. Quiet location but close to Gojo metro station. Also the hotel has public onsen which was superb and free for hotel guests. Reception staff was helpful and always greeted on entry and exit. Highly recommended!

The hotel is well located near Kyoto Station and right in front of a beautiful shrine.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped.
Amenities can be taken from the Lobby.
They do not offer cleaning service every day and you need to bring your towels to the reception to get new ones.
They have amazing public bath (onsen) facilities!
But honestly the best is the Staff! They are very kind and caring, always going above and beyond to help you even with the language barrier.

We loved this place. The front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful, they also have multiple staff members who know different languages. The public bath was great and the location was perfect.
