The room was old, with dated furniture. The bathroom was bad. Both the sink and toilet were detached from their base. The buffet dinner was not very good, not many choices. The only good thing was the people at the reception and bar.

Internet was pretty slow, the bar hours are not accomadating, 1800 to 2100hrs... The food buffet are often cold, and only 3 sun umbrella available around the pool. The staff was great, the only reason why in put 3 instead of 2 stars.

The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The first room was by a rather busy road but they kindly moved us to a better, quieter room. Our room had a hot tub which was clean and lovely and warm.
The breakfasts were good with a nice variety of hot and cold choices. We would certainly recommend this hotel and go back again. .

The staff were brilliant they always help and patient about the room its clean we had issues with our hotel room door it did not open easily when you swipe the card and ironing board did not have legs on it so its just small ironing board that I hade to put on chair for me to iron my close.

Breakfast in the morning was great. It is adults only so it is very quiet and the staff is very accommodating. It is right across the street from a bus station so getting into the city by public transportation is easy too.

The staff were amazing. Always friendly and helpful. I could not praise them highly enough.
The restaurant is top rate and definitely worth coming back for.
The pools area was very nice but a little more sun protection would have been nice.
The only area lacking was the maintenance.
My toilet hardly flushed and the hand basin was cracked and leaked.

This was a relaxing property for a one night stay prior to our flight home.
Staff were accommodating and grounds were smaller but nice.
The property is located where several busy roads are nearby so there was some traffic noise but it did not impact our short stay.

Liked: Lovely, attentive, friendly staff. Room and the rest of the hotel clean. Great selection of breakfast food and snacks, coffee, etc. Restaurant, bar, poolside, gardens, very inviting. Nearby shops, amenities, etc.
Didn't like: Lack of dining table in room if we wanted to eat in. Gym room and equipment in disrepair and dirty.

First time in Crete. We really liked it, and the staff at Malena contributed to our enjoyment. Would go back to this hotel but, in all honesty, there's so much more to explore on the island and, to see the things we like, we'd base ourselves to the east or south of the island.

We had a fantastic stay at Malena Hotel and Suites! The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were clean and well-equipped, and the overall ambiance was perfect for a great vacation.

A special mention goes to Despina, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and her warm hospitality made a huge difference. The rest of the staff was also very friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with anything we needed.

We absolutely recommend Malena Hotel and Suites to anyone looking for a great place to stay. We would love to return in the future!

The property is more like a small village complex than a hotel, with pathways linking the apartments to the main areas, bar, pool etc. It is so tranquil, a really lovely place to stay. The beach is a few minutes away, but we mostly stayed around the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and multilingual. The food was excellent and I’d recommend the buffet breakfast, it really set me up for the day.

Comfortable Stay in a Nice Hotel

Our room was nice and big, very comfortable and overlooked the pool area. We booked the one with a hot tub which was great. The room had two balconies so managed to enjoy the sun at different times. The hotel staff were nice and helpful and were more than happy to assist with booking some excursions. The bar service was excellent and had a lot of drinks and cocktails on offer. The breakfast on offer was great with a decent variety of foods. The pool area is a nice relaxing place. If you love cats like me then you’ll be happy to know there are about 5 or 6 gorgeous, friendly cats who live there and are well looked after. There is a “gym” in (well kinda outside) the hotel but there’s not much in it and looks quite tired. The sauna wasn’t working during my time there. My negatives were that the drainage system in the bathroom was inadequate. The shower in the bathroom ends up overflowing onto the rest of the floor due if on full. The food in the restaurant a few times was nice but cold and we had to send it back. We ended up finding other places in the area to eat as a result.

Nicely landscaped facility, near the beach. If you're not interested in walking a few hundred meters, there's a huge parking area at the beach. The property is a beautiful oasis in a mixed-use region. That's a plus. There's an enormous hypermarket three minutes distant, and plenty of restaurants readily accessible by car. Breakfast was excellent. Our unit had a hot-tub which we didn't use. There's adequate parking on-site. If that's filled, there's plenty more space next door. We stayed our last night in Crete. It's only about 15 easy minutes from Heraklion airport. Being \"adults only\" the pool and open areas are quiet and pleasant. Let the kids do their thing elsewhere.

The property was really well set out with balconys that were nice and private to sit on an evening and morning.
The hotel is very close to super markets and restaurants or the beach so ideally located. If you want a trip in to town its walkable in about 45-60 minutes.
The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you, really friendly and approachable and speak perfect English if needed.
The breakfast was really good and there was a good selection.
The room is cleaned daily.
Negatives....
The road outside is really busy all day BUT the windows do block all but the odd car out.
Im sure it was just an over sight but there was rubbish under the bed and round the hot tub from a previous guest.
The hot tub was almost clean when we arrived but didnt get cleaned the whole 10 days we were in the room. Even with showering before getting in didnt stop a build up of dirt. And towards the end of our stay i was wondering if the chemical levels weren't getting checked and adjusted as well.
All in all a beautiful place, brilliant staff, perfectly located and good food.

2-3am we could hear water dripping down from the property/side of our room there was also noise coming from a hose pipe from outside - very loud spraying outside on to our room.

Zimmer sind ausreichend Groß und einladend. Der Zimmersafe ist allerdings winzig. Es gibt keine Schränke für die Sachen und im Bad fehlt eine aktive Be-/Entlüftung. Dadurch Schimmel/ Stockflecken in den Ecken. Das größte Ärgernis war aber der Roomservice. Das Zimmer wurde nie vormittags gereinigt... Zum Teil erst weit nach 15 Uhr. So das man von seinen Ausflügen zurück kam und dann dem Personal im Weg war. Die Reinigung des Zimmer war nur unzureichend. Ecken wurden ignoriert es wurde nur sehr oberflächlich gereinigt. Neue Handtücher und Toilettenpapier gab es nur auf Nachfrage. Sowas sollte der Roomservice sehen. (Handtücher extra auf den Boden gelegt, fehlendes Papier, leeres Duschgel)

Das Hotel war prinzipiell wie beworben. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Zimmer in gutem Zustand und sauber. Es herrachte durchgängig eine sehr entspannte Atmosphäre, selbst wenn viele Gäste gleichzeitig anwesend waren. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist, dass die Sitzgelegenheit am zimmereigenen Pool leider dreckig und dauerhaft nass war, so dass man diese nicht wirklich benutzen konnte. Da aber Stühle vorhanden waren, war das für uns nicht weiter problematisch.

Tolles Hotel mit schönen Zimmern, gutem Pool und bequemen Liegen. Das Frühstück war jeden Tag sehr lecker (Müsli, frische Früchte, Eierspeisen, süßes und salziges Gebäck, Wurst, Käse, Säfte, Smoothies, Kaffee, süße Cremes,...). Katzen hat es auch im Hotel :)
Die Lage war für uns nicht nicht ganz optimal. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Jacuzzi aber leider war es aufgrund der Durchfahrtsstraße tagsüber und nachts recht laut, wenn man ein Fenster offen hatte bzw. wenn man auf dem Balkon war. Es gibt in der Nähe Restaurants, Souvenirshops und eine Bar, die fußläufig zu erreichen sind. Allerdings läuft man auch hier fast immer direkt an der Durchfahrtsstraße.

Hotel wirkt auf den ersten Blick gepflegt und modern. Erreichbarkeit vom Flughafen sehr gut. Zimmer geräumig und gut geschnitten, Bad groß und mit einer guten Dusche ausgestattet. Die Köchin beim Frühstück war wahnsinnig nett und freundlich! Zum Strand etwa 5min zu Fuß. Frühstück: Tische kleben auf der kompletten Oberseite und das jeden Tag. Der sehr arrogante Manager läuft jeden Morgen nur auf und ab und tut recht geschäftig, geht an seinen Gästen aber ohne Gruß vorbei. Seine Lieblingsaufgabe besteht darin, die Mitarbeiter vor allen Gästen zu maßregeln und die Wärmelampen über dem Buffet mal nach oben und dann wieder nach unten zu ziehen. An einem Tag lag am Buffet aufgeschnittene Wurst, die schon richtig schmierig war und gestunken hat. Wir haben sie dem Manager diskret gezeigt und er meinte nur die ist frisch und auch frisch aufgeschnitten - und hat die Wurst im Buffet gelassen. Einer aus unserer Gruppe ist Fleischermeister und der hat die Wurst als eindeutig ungenießbar eingestuft!! Wir waren zu dritt und haben für 3 Erwachsene gebucht und voll bezahlt. Anstatt eines dritten Betts gab es aber nur ein Laken auf das Sofa. Das Sofa ist bretthart und es ist unmöglich darauf zu schlafen. Wir haben den Aufenthalt dann zu dritt im Doppelbett geschlafen. Terrasse wurde bei unserem Aufenthalt (8 Tage) nur 1x und nur nach Aufforderung gereinigt. Am privaten Pool war ein schönes, aber komplett versifftes Balibett. Putzfrau wäscht den Mob im privaten Pool aus!! Ekelhaft!! :(

Wir hatten einen sehr erholsamen Urlaub. Sowohl das Frühstück als auch das Abendessen waren hervorragend. Abends Service am Platz und als Abschluss einen Raki. Das Personal war überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend. Unser Zimmer mit Whirlpool war sauber und sehr geräumig. Am Pool konnte man sich entspannen da alles sehr ruhig und gediegen war. Die Busverbindung in die Stadt ist super, der Bus hält direkt vor dem Eingang. Der schöne Strand ist zu Fuß in 5 Minuten zu erreichen. Einzig die Gegend außerhalb des Hotels ist sehr vernachlässigt, was sehr schade ist.

Die Empfangsdame war sehr Freundlich und Nett, hat uns immer sehr geholfen und konnte sich sogar auf Deutsch mit uns Verständigen.
Die Essensauswahl zum Frühstück war ausreichend. Das Zimmer könnte Sauberer sein. Das Bad war schon sehr dreckig trotz reinigung.
Der Whirlpool hätte gereinigt werden müssen während unseres Aufenthaltes.

Wir waren 10 Tage im Malena Hotel und haben es wirklich genießen können. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und der Service lässt nicht zu wünschen übrig. Die Zimmer könnten etwas sauberer und die Ausstattung etwas gehobener sowie gepflegter sein. Ansonsten sehr zu empfehlen man hat eine gute Anbindung und ist schnell überall auf der Insel.

Leider ist alles nicht so sauber…
Im Essbereich sind die Tische klebrig.. im Zimmer wird nur gewischt , das Geschirr nur kalt gespült… alles etwas schmutzig… das wirpool wird alle 2-3 Tage gereinigt! Personal freundlich!
Preisleistung stimmt nicht ganz..

Decent hotel but disappointing. Cleanliness was average, and our jacuzzi broke on the first day with no compensation from the staff. Additionally, the hotel is a bit far from the city center, making getting around inconvenient. For a pleasant stay, it’s better to consider other options.

Grundsätzlich ein schönes Hotel, relativ klein und überschaubar. Die Lage ist eher unattraktiv, einzig die Nähe zum Strand ist positiv zu erwähnen. Ansonsten direkt neben einer Tankstelle und ringsrum Freiflächen (Müll, Autoleichen, viel Dreck). Bushaltestelle direkt vor der Tür vorhanden, jedoch ein Glücksspiel ob der Fahrer hält oder durchfährt, da er im Vorfeld schon an vielen Hotels und dem öffentlichen Strand vorbeikommt. Taxi ist hier die Alternative - für 13 € nach Heraklion zum Hafen/shoppen. Wir hatten nur Frühstück gebucht - war lecker und vielfältig. Das Personal ist bemüht und auch wirklich aufmerksam. Die Anlage ist ansprechend - Liegen am Pool immer vorhanden. Am Strand können wir die Liegen an der Strandbar „Tortuga“ empfehlen. Pro Liege 4,50 € inclusive einem Freigetränk. Die Mädels sind auf Zack und sehr freundlich. Auch das Essen ist absolut top. Obendrein, nicht zu vergessen, saubere Toiletten. In der Umgebung gibt es ein paar Lokale/ Restaurants wo man Essen gehen kann - nichts extravagantes aber okay. Ein Wermutstropfen, der Zimmerservice! Gläser wurden nur mit Leitungswasser ausgespült und wieder hingestellt - Flüssigseife war leer und wurde mit Wasser aufgefüllt - Duschseife leer und überhaupt nicht aufgefüllt - Toilettenpapier vergessen - sehr unsauber geputzt (wenn überhaupt) - Jacuzzi hätte auch etwas sauberer sein können (Wasserqualität). Alles in allem - für ein 4*Hotel nicht ausreichend, eher mangelhaft. Abgesehen davon war es ein schöner Urlaub.

Leider war ich mit meinem Aufenthalt nicht rundum zufrieden. Die Sauberkeit im Zimmer war nicht zufriedenstellend – bei der Ankunft war es nicht gründlich gereinigt, und auch während des Aufenthalts wurde nur oberflächlich geputzt.

Das Frühstück war ebenfalls enttäuschend. Es gab jeden Tag die gleiche Auswahl, und einige Speisen wurden nicht oder nur sehr spät nachgefüllt. Wer später kam, hatte oft kaum noch etwas zur Auswahl.

Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt betrifft die Privatsphäre: Es gab keine Möglichkeit, ein „Bitte nicht stören“-Schild an die Tür zu hängen. Das Reinigungspersonal kam nach einmaligem Klopfen einfach ins Zimmer, was ich als sehr unangenehm empfand.

Insgesamt hatte ich mir bei dem Preis und den bisherigen Bewertungen deutlich mehr erwartet.
