Our stay was quick, but Corner George was a clean, lovely place to spend the night. We would stay longer next time to check out Maeystown and avoid a Monday night, since everything was closed. The host was very helpful!

2nd Visit--Will Stay Again

This was our second stay. Innkeepers are friendly and knowledgeable and even made calls to places nearby to make sure they were open when we went sightseeing. The inn itself is beautiful and was restored by the owners themselves. Great experience, good people, a gem to be sure.

A Step Back in Time

Our stay at Corner George B&B was a relaxing trip back in time. David gave us a tour of the old hotel he had meticulously restored with added modern amenities. He was very knowledgable about the history of the town and shared many interesting stories. The Ballroom now serves as the breakfast room, complete with antique walnut table, pump organ and working Victrola. The room was comfortable and my wife and I truly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

Charming Bed and Breakfast

We knew nothing of this quiet little town before we booked our room at Corner George Inn for our Anniversary. We thought it would be neat to go somewhere totally different. What a great place. The owners are lovely. The room was fantastic. The food was divine. We loved our stay,and hope to come back next year.

Lovely and charming!

My husband and I returned to the Corner George Inn after a 10-year hiatus and loved it every bit as much as we did the first time. David is a gracious, generous, and thoughtful host who loves his town and the people in it and Maeystown is a refreshingly calm nook in a sometimes overstimulating-ly busy world. The Inn was clean, neat, and quiet and breakfast was delicious. The next time we have need of a place to stay in the St Louis area, we'll definitely go back to the Corner George Inn!

Great way to end the day

We choose the Corner George for its location near Fort de Chartres. The innkeepers were very accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and inviting, and the breakfast delicious.

Our First Bed and Breakfast Experience

When we first got there, found out our room was on the second floor. Due to bad knees and hips, our inn-keepers quickly relocated us to a first floor room. Everything was very clean and quaint. NO TV!!. At first we didn't know how that would go, but in reality it was fine. I left my Partial Plate Teeth in my room, and was quickly informed of this and they were mailed back to me. If we are ever in the area again, we will return, for sure.

Very nice bed and breakfast!

My wife and I stayed at the Corner George Inn Bed & Breakfast while we were in Illinois to view the solar eclipse. I was lucky to find such a nice place to stay - the hotels in the area had booked up months ahead of time. The Inn was an 1800's rooming house that had been painstakingly restored several years before. The place was immaculate! Every room had its own bathroom, and its own personality. The breakfasts were healthy, and satisfying - no stale bagels or pastries here! The owner/host was very nice and showed us around the building, and was very knowledgeable about the area. All in all, we had a really great time, and I would highly recommend the Corner George Inn Bed & Breakfast to anyone who wants a relaxed getaway that is reasonably close to St. Louis.

Stayed for 4 nights during the Grand American Trapshoot. The hotel was right out of the 19th century. Historic town the residents are in the process of restoring. The hosts were excellent, the breakfast was great and access to good restaurants in the area was easy.

Kind, Friendly, and Peaceful

We were happy to find a place just far enough from the city to avoid the city noise and the owners were quite kind and helpful. We enjoyed discussing music and theater with them, and their homemade iced tea recipe was so welcome at our arrival on a hot day. Breakfast was fantastic. Their typical close meal recommendation had just closed, so we had a bit of a drive after a long day of travel to get dinner, but that is easily fixed by picking up dinner on the way in next time!

Cozy hideaway in brigadoon!

The Corner George Inn is located in one of the most charming villages in the country, Maeystown. The inn is a lovely Victorian beautifully restored, with innkeepers who have been real leaders of the move to protect and preserve this village over the last 30 years. The village must be seen to be believed. The stories told are fascinating!

Everything was fantastic!

The owners were great, and everyone in the town was friendly. Such a cute little historic town to explore. We truly enjoyed the location. The rooms were cute and comfortable. The Tavern across the street was delicious for dinner, and breakfast by David and Marcia was perfect. We are already looking forward to coming back. We stayed within Maeystown, but there is so much surrounding it to explore as well. Marcia and David are very knowledgeable of the area and gave great suggestions.

Charming, Inviting, Exactly What We Wanted

My husband and I are both busy teachers, and we really needed a weekend away, out of town and with the toddler staying with grandparents. We love old world European charm, and Maeystown hit the spot with being only a couple hours from home.

The inn was lovely, even beautiful. Like you would see in Victorian Era movies. Everything was clean and functional. The breakfast was delicious. We even had to leave very early our last morning and got left some fruit, muffins, and coffee for the road. The innkeepers were friendly and accommodating (no pun intended).

The town is charming. The tavern across the street had great food at quite reasonable prices. Attractions are nearby for a nice day out, which we visited several by following maps provided and explained at the inn.

We are both generally frugal with travel, and the evening we arrived we were already talking about coming back in the summer. Highly recommended!

A Delightful Gem

Fabulous Trip Back in Time

David, the host, was patient with our delayed arrival and in order to ensure we were going to be comfortable, he walked us through all the available rooms. We chose the downstairs suite across the street eventhough we were only staying one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The town is very picturesque and if the weather had been more cooperative we probably would have explored it more. The Scotch Eggs for breakfast were interesting. There were many other items to choose from as well. Highly recommend this location.

Great place for history nerds like us!

One of the best parts about this place is that everyone and everything is part of the charm - the whole town is lovely! We stayed in the kitchen room and loved it. We had lunch at the Tea Room, went for a great walk up to the church and spoke to the stone mason restoring the original walls around town and perused the antiques store attached to the inn - found some extremely useful items and was impressed with the prices. David and Marcia are founts of information and kindness and we were so happy to meet them. Our one complaint was that we couldn't stay longer. We will absolutely be back!

Great Time in Maeystown Il

Me and the wife had a great time at the Corner George Inn. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cabin which is located behind the bigger Bed and Breakfast. The room was a throw back to simpler times which is what we hoped it would be. David & Marcia were so neet and helpful as host's and the food was wonderful. We can't wait to go back to the Corner George Inn!

Friendliest Town and People Ever

This bed and breakfast is over 120 years old, well maintained and very quaint, and in an absolutely lovely town. What made the visit special was that the proprietor made sure our every need was taken care of. We weren't able to utilize the breakfast because of our Saturday activity so he arranged for us to have lunch at a local restaurant and picked up the tab. The old style clawfoot tub was pretty cool.

Reason for three star... incredible service which is far more important than a new building or whether you have a TV or not. Veterans of bed and breakfasts understand you usually get older houses and no TV.

Very historic, very small and extremely friendly. The knowledge the local staff has about the history, development and family endeavors for everyone living in the area is phenominal. This is an extremely small town, but it is rich with interwoven family histories - especially local German immigrants - and is exciting and noteworthy. I will never forget the stay, the staff or the countryside. Corner George is wonderful!

Peace, quiet, and good conversation

We visited the corner George inn for our anniversary. The rooms were neatly decorated and very clean. Dave and Marsha are wonderful hosts and the entire town is very welcoming. We enjoyed the shops and peacefulness of this old German town. The inn is located near several places of interest including a couple of wineries. Breakfast was delicious and filled with lots of good conversation from other guests as well as the hosts. It really felt like we were a part of their family...that's how welcoming it was!

A wonderfully quaint lodging

My wife and I spent two nights at the Corner George, and found it to be a delightful experience. The old hotel building has been restored and filled with interesting and quaint objects and furnishings. Alyissa, our hostess (the Braswells were out of town during the time we stayed there) made us feel welcome, provided a full tour of the premises, and cooked a delicious breakfast for us each morning. The community of Maeystown is tiny (350 residents) and basically a time capsule of 19th Century German architecture and life. Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, when the Museum, local tavern, etc. were closed...most visitors to the area come late in the week or on weekends.

We would certainly stay at the Corner George again when in that area.

Quiet and cozy

This was our first time at The Corner George. David was very personable and an excellent host. He had information on nearby restaurants that was very detailed and helpful. Some B&B 0wners can be pretentious but he was not one of those. We felt comfortable staying there. The bed was comfortable. The room had many antiques. Despite being on Main Street, it was quiet at night. Breakfast was healthy and tasty. The atmosphere was laid back. I recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing stay,

Like traveling in H. G. Wells' time machine

We stayed from 3/29 through 4/1. Unique place sitting directly next to a clear babbling brook. We stayed in The Loft room and it is very big, with a claw-foot tub and full kitchen that was stocked with dishes. The pillows and bed were devine. We slept completely through the night and woke feeling so refreshed. It was so quiet in the evenings that it was easy to picture yourself there in the 1890's with the world turning much slower around you. Many places were not open though since it was still chilly - and we were told that the festival with up to 5000 people starts the first week of May. The owner's themselves cooked a chef's breakfast each morning. Delightful! My wife rates it Awesome! Thank you David and Marsha!

Cozy and historical wrapped in one.

Necessity brought me to this B & B. I was going to be working very near the Inn and the only other hotel in the area was booked up. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and was shown several rooms to choose from (since I was the only guest in that building that night) The Wifi worked fine. Cell service was a little iffy in my room. Quiet, quaint, and beautiful countryside, made the stay more relaxing than I thought it would be. Breakfast was served at my requested time. It was homemade and satisfying. The Innkeepers were pleasant and engaging. I loved the history of the town and the buildings, and the Innkeepers were very happy to share their story. The Inn is decorated to the \"T\" for the full effect of the era. I would be happy to stay there again. Next time it would be nice if it was for pleasure and not business.

Very Sweet & Charming BNB

Staying at The Corner George Inn is like stepping back in time, but with all the modern conveniences! The rooms are very sweet and cozy. The owners are helpful and accommodating. We also enjoyed walking through the General Store beside the BNB. There is a Sweet Shop and a Coffee Shop nearby as well. We had a fun and relaxing time throughout our stay at the historic Corner George Inn in picturesque Maeystown, IL.

Lovely Stay in Maeystown

Want a quiet evening in a lovely space? Visit the Corner George Inn. Easy to find at the center of Maeystown, this BnB has several nice options for lodging. We had a tour of the available rooms, and all looked warm and inviting. The summer kitchen stands alone behind the main building, and it's a very cozy space. I'd definitely like to stay there in the future. We ended up staying in The Loft, and it was spacious and comfortable. If you'd like the option of a fridge, microwave, or coffee definitely pick the Loft. It has a beautiful stone wall, ample seating and a good bed. Breakfast the next morning was great. There was ample tasty food, endless coffee and lots of pleasant conversation with the innkeepers. I highly recommend the Corner George Inn for a great weekend getaway.

The inn was recommended by my daughter's date for his homecoming dance. It was great! We will definitely be staying again. There was not a room available with enough beds for all three of us, so the innkeeper allowed us to bring an air mattress for our daughter to sleep on. Outstanding in every way

I grew up in this area, so I was familiar with the village, but this was my first experience with the Inn. Crossing the bridge really does place you in another world. The Inn itself is the real deal - authentic in its architecture and furnishings, but with all the modern comforts we've come to expect. It was one of the most comfortable and restful nights I've spent in a hotel/inn environment. We were in the front at street level, so I expected some noise, but I was pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, Scotch eggs, muffins and hot coffee. And I can't say enough about the hosts. They were welcoming and personable from our first telephone contact with them through our last goodbyes.

Delightful weekend at Corner George Inn

David and Marcia were delightful and we enjoyed our stay. Had to look 'elsewhere' for something to do in the evening as most places close at 4pm in Maeystown. The breakfast was outstanding Sunday morning as well as the conversations around the table with the Braswell's and other guests. Enjoyed the church service on Sunday morning.

We had an amazing time during a one night stay at the Corner George! I am looking forward to my next visit. Winter get-away

The host and hostess were very informative about the local and county historic sites. The spacious dining area has scores of interesting historic and folklore books and dozens of board games if someone just wanted to spend the evening relaxing or having fun with fellow guests. The inn's 'old style' decor has been well preserved and enhanced by its owners.
