This was a gem of a find for the price paid for the room. Similar rooms were going for three times more. The room was clean, in a GREAT location, had a kitchen to make breakfast at, and most of all the property managers were helpful and very accommodating to get me into the room quickly and with no hassle, on a booking day almost everything in the city was sold out. Thank you for the great stay!

The room was clean and the location was convenient. However, I didn’t know there would be no reception or anyone to talk to when I got there. In fact, I could hardly find the front door of the hotel. Had I known, it wouldn’t have need that bad, but I was expecting a traditional hotel and this was not it.

I’d you want a room that will make you want to catch the late train this is it. I did just that didn’t spend more than 30 minutes in the room.

First off I had my girlfriend cancel out of the trip because AFTER booking we realized that there was no elevator. Asking for a room on the first floor required an additional charge, whatever she has a broken ankle. I reach out to the property at least 2 weeks ahead of time about requesting a better room. ZERO RESPONSE. So basically I ended up buying two tickets to a show for just me.

Seconds don’t you dare let your phone battery die because if it does and you didn’t tattoo the front door code and room code on to your body you are screwed. At the rate the hotel management responds to requests (so far never). You will be sleeping on the streets, which is a sketchy area.

Room is tiny, AC unit which was sort of working made enough noise to keep a drunk person awake. The TV was useless unless you brought your own streaming account and it shut off by itself anyways. The bathroom toilet lids don’t stay up so if you are a male using the bathroom good luck, you will need two hands.

Another thing I had a hard time getting out of the building because some contractor was working next door and blocking the door with a ladder.

Basically there is no one there to help you and no one responds when you reach out. It’s a hotel run by ghosts or maybe an AI. Stay away from here.

The room itself was nice especially for the price. Would be great for someone staying a few days who wanted to eat leftovers as there is a little equipped kitchenette. Two things though: 1) there was barely any toilet paper on the roll in my room and I saw no extras. Since this hotel doesn’t have lobby staff I didn’t know how to get extra tp. Thankfully there were tissues. 2) the street door to the lobby needs to be replaced- it doesn’t lock unless you really shut it hard and guests don’t do that. I was able to walk in without having to enter a code every time because someone hadn’t shut it properly. As a result I felt somewhat unsafe. If the lobby door is changed I’d stay here again. I wouldn’t stay again without an upgraded lobby door.

Shame on Expedia for featuring such a misleading listing. This is a 4-story walkup tenement rooming house, not a hotel. Expedia does not disclose the fact that there is no elevator, no staff on the premises and it’s exceptionally confusing to enter the property. The address says 1st Avenue; the door is heavily graffitied and locked and you must go around the corner to a different address and there is no way to know that except for a tiny sign obscured by the graffiti. Try checking in late and night and you are screwed.
The room itself was very small but passable and clean—but three things were broken (which they did fix the next day). It is also very noisly, but that is to be expected given the location. The staffers that did answer the phone, however, were great because I suspect they are used to dealing with confused, terrified guests who can’t find the door, want things fixed and fear for their safety.

Cons: Hotel allows pets. Room had cat/dog hair all over the floor and on an upholstered chair. Ended up with hair on my clothes. Immediately had problems with allergies. Hotel in a very active and loud neighborhood. The windows do not stop the sound. The neighborhood was noisy until about 4 am (Fri, Sat). The hotel does provide ear plugs which are necessary.

Pos: location is good if you want to be in the East village. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Room was small but had everything I needed. Kitchenette along with cooking tools, microwave, silverware, etc very nice. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning was adequate.

The rooms are small but quite efficient. There is kitchenette area. Enough room to walk around the bed and a bathroom. We've stayed there several times and will continue to.
Note: we usually face 9th Ave however this last stay we faced 1st and it was terribly loud. The hotel offers ear plugs, which was nice but going forward we will request a room facing 9th!

We’ve stayed here multiple times - I think the prices have went up from what they were. It used to be very reasonable priced. Even stayed for Thanksgiving last year - we just stayed in May and the rooms seem to have doubled. Great location, fully equipped kitchen, full bath, easy check in, only issues is on the weekends it is incredibly noisy. Really liked the place but the price will probable keep us from

It was terribly loud. Not just the street noise but the HORRIBLY loud from the room above. We stayed a week and truly did not get one good night's sleep. It seemed that possibly someone was living above. We heard chairs dragging across the floor, constant walking (stomping) back and forth early in the morning and several nights until 1am. It was the worst experience we've had in a 'hotel' and we travel monthly.

Great spot. Room was okay. Floor was dirty and the soap holder in the bathroom was broken. There are complaints about the water pressure in the shower, but I found it okay. Bed was comfy. Kitchenette was well-equipped and made me think I could live there. This is a good spot if you are not looking for anything resembling fancy.

It is New York, so yes it is noisy and yes the room is small, but it is a great location with lots of restaurants and access to East Village. The room was very clean and the bed was soft. The air conditioning was great and blocked out some of the noise. The area near the hotel looked scary due to the graffiti, but after traveling around New York, we realized it was quite normal, unfortunately. We didn’t feel unsafe walking around any time, including after dark. We would stay there again.

This hotel is unstaffed - you will be send codes to access the room and front door upon check in. Given that there is no support if you need anything.
The location is great, but it is loud. I stayed in two rooms - the ones that face 1st Ave an incredibly loud. The hotel provides ear plugs, but if you are a light sleeper it will be almost impossible to sleep. The rooms facing 9th are significantly quieter.
Overall the rooms are ok - the beds are comfortable and have nice light given the windows. The sink in my bathroom did not drain and the shower leaked all over the floor, which was unideal. The fridge was also rattling all night, so much that I had to unplug it.
The ideal of the hotel is nice, and the location is great but the rooms needs a little bit of care and there needs to be a clear process if you need support given there are no staff on site.

As long as you know their rules and check in/out policy, this is a great place to stay. The Uber shuttle from LGA has 2 drop off sites nearby. The kitchenette is a great resource if you are a foodie, and the location can’t be beat!

Enjoyed the contactless check-in/check-out process, made it very easy to make changes. The room I booked did not appear to be the one I received, but the check-in instructions indicated that that was a possibility. Room was extremely neat and tidy. Great location in East Village. At least 4 restaurants that I noticed on thw same block. Earplugs were provided for street noise, but I didn't need them. Overall a great stay. The property manager was very easy to communicate with.

Great location with lots of restaurants, bars, and shops around. The walls, windows, and doors do not block out a lot of sound, but that is expected for NYC. You could easily hear the street and other guests, bring earplugs (they supplied some also). The towels were very low quality and each person only gets one per night, so plan for that. There is a strange smell in the entry way but the room smelled fine. The bed was comfy overall. I'd stay here again since it's close to our friends house for a great price.

LOCATION was great everything we wanted to do was within a 30 min walk or less. We love the immersive experience of this hotel. We stay here every time we visit our son who lives in the neighborhood and now it feels like ours. The staff is wonderful! I wasn’t sure if I would like this hotel or not. In the end, I thought it was okay.
I knew there was no front desk person, and I honestly didn’t know if it would matter to me. In the end I think I did miss it.
I had also seen in reviews that there is street noise, which was definitely true for my room (#1, on the 9th St side). I visited during a cold snap, so no one was out when I arrived late at night on Weds, and so there was no noise. I slept like a baby! Thursday there were a few people out partying, but the noise died down around 10-11pm and I slept fine. Friday night there was a ton of honking, yelling, loud cars that earplugs were no match for, and I didn’t sleep well. I thought the mattress was really comfortable, though my bed was quite noisy from squeaky springs.
The room was nice enough and generally clean, though there were signs that it was not brand new: scuffs on the wall, some unfinished trim around the door, etc.
Best parts of staying here were the location, the kitchen, and the gorgeous exposed brick in my room. It’s probably worth the extra money to request a room on the non-street side of the building, so I would recommend factoring that extra cost into your budget.

Extremely humble quarters in a vibrant location. So vibrant that the street noise was practically unbearable. The second floor windows on 1st avenue did little to attenuate the racket. (It didn't help that they were doing nighttime paving of a nearby street.)

Clearly no one from management has every tried to stay in one of these rooms.

Some issues included:
The bathroom reeked of bleach and cleaning fumes.
The shower curtain didn't reach the floor so every shower resulted in a puddle on the floor.
The faucet opened into the wall tile which was crumbling due to the constant friction.
The pillows were comically thick. I purchased my own at a nearby Target for a few dollars just to get by.
There were so few dishes and cutlery items as to make the dishwasher pointless; you'd have to hand wash after every meal.

On the plus side, it was easy to get into the building via codes and the building felt reasonably secure.

I felt safe and everything worked in the room. Location was key for me, as it was close to who I was visiting. Absolutley love the East Village.

We enjoyed the EVH. A bit of drama on our last night when the fire alarm went off at 11 pm. We hurriedly got out of bed, got dressed and headed outside. Three fire trucks arrived in short order and quickly figured out someone down the hall from us had burned their dinner. We were back in our room by 11:15, so no big deal. But we never heard from the hotel staff, which seemed odd.

I read reviews that complained about noise-- heads up, if you want a quiet room, go to the mountains. Every place in NYC is noisy. Yes, it is noisy- bring a white noise machine or use the furnished ear plugs. Will definitely stay here again.

Amazing location, nice space with a lot of amenities for such a tiny place. That said, the room wasn't ready for us until well after check-in time. They told us about 3:20 (after a 3 check-in time) that it would be ready about 3:45, but when we got there around 4 it still wasn't ready so we hung out in the room while they cleaned around us. Frustrating, especially with an infant!

Although the hotel has no front desk, the check-in process was terrific as they sent emails and texts with information on how to gain access to the hotel and the room. Being in the East Village, the rooms are small but they have everything you need for a stay including a nicely stocked kitchenette! Daily housekeeping is available. And they even supply ear plugs (there was street traffic noise mainly during the day) so I slept soundly! Great spot if you want to be in the East Village area.
