We were hiking GR5 in January, with one stage ending at Vianden. We were grateful to be able to stay in this comfortable and conveniently located hotel, as there were very few overnight options at this time of the year.

We got a larger room than we booked with view at the castle. The room is comfortable and clean. We had dinner at the acompanying restaurant, which is nicely decorated. The food was delicious. And the staff was warm.

The room was a decent size, but since the hotel is on a main road, there is lots of noise throughout the night.
The surroundings are beautiful, but there are limited places to eat. Perhaps, it isn’t high tourist season yet.

The only down side was that our room was on the first floor and we could hear all the noise from the restaurant at night and in the early hours.

Outstanding for my dietary needs.

We had such a lovely stay and the staff bent over backwards to make our stay that way. In particular, I have such difficult dietary restrictions and the kitchen staff were able to adapt the menu to suit my needs, even going off-menu to feed me.
The room was immaculate, the bed extremely comfortable and the views were stunning. We will definitely be returning again.

This hotel overlooks the river and has a decent buffet breakfast. The pub downstairs looks good but I didn’t get the chance to eat there as I was o oh there for one night. Lots walks near by and the town is sleepy but charming.

The view was beautiful and the location is perfect. I had a room looking onto the river and I could see the castle to the side. The only complaint I have is the bathroom wasn’t super clean. I was also in a non-smoking room but it smelled like an ash tray when I walked in. Otherwise the hotel was a good place to stay.

Grammar location - lacking facilities

Lovely hotel but amenities are not what is shown in description - there is no on site parking - parking is on the street (if you can find it) or at the covered carpark which is very expensive. The description states it has self laundry provision which it doesn’t and on the last morning there was no hot water for the shower in both rooms and the towels are so old…..on the positive the breakfast and evening meals were nice and the waiting staff very friendly - great location

Warning: not all rooms have air conditioning! We booked the room when it was hot because it said they have air conditioning. Then we get to the hotel and find out that only certain rooms do and they’re all already occupied. Expedia reached out on our behalf and they refused to do anything about it.

On the plus side, the location is wonderful.

Quaint little old-school European hotel located in the heart of a picturesque village... right above a main intersection where traffic stops all day and into the night, making it very noisy. Central to all the major attractions of Vianden, and the restaurant has a good menu. Breakfast was a typically European spread and OK value at 10€. Free parking in a small deck very close by. The hard-working bar/restaurant staff deserve big tips!

My amazing weekend

My stay at the hotel was amazing. Perfect location. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, an helpful even dough i speak only English. The food, draft beer and service at the Victor Hugo restaurant were excelent. My room was very clean and sanitized. They even sanitize the menu book and the tables at the restaurant. Thank you all who made my weekend amazing. Keep up the very good work!

Excellently located hotel, around a 15 minute walk to Vianden castle. Unfortunately the hotel experienced a problem with the hot water on the morning of check out (not great in the middle of winter!), but we appreciate the efforts of the hotel to resolve this.

Perfect location overlooking the Our River.

Delicious food at the restaurant downstairs, as well as many others within a block or so. The castle is just a little hike up the hill and is worth spending a couple of hours touring. I’m so glad we skipped Paris and stayed here instead. Very romantic town.

The hotel staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Our flight was delayed and the hotel staff made it really easy for us to check in. The room and the sauna was a very clean and lovely. Only thing is with no fault of the hotel there was a storm which meant there was no WiFi and tv for the majority of our stay. The area of Vianden is very picturesque and beautiful would definitely go back!

The hotel was located in a beautiful area of town right next to the river. The staff answered my emails very quickly and addressed my concerns. The access to the chateau was good too although uphill if you don't have a car. The room was amazing very large/clean and even had a view from the bathroom.

No wifi, no river view, loose safe, insufficient lights. We had booked and paid for a deluxe room with river view, when asking fornthis we were moved to a room even further away from the river. The automatic light in the toilet and in the bathroom turned of while being used. The safe was just placed loosed in the closet. No air conditioning or heating. The control unit on the wall did not work.

Not quite as lovely inside as outside....

Got off to a bad start when I was charged EUR30 extra for a second bed in the room (which was advertised as sleeping 3, and showed two beds in the photos - the second bed was already there). Room itself was somewhat tired. Half of the folding shower screen was missing, so water from the shower went everywhere. Room did overlook a courtyard garden, but mostly a building site (and they start early - around 8am). Towels were rough - rough enough to open up a cut on my leg! WiFi in the room was very slow. And I'm afraid the cupboard door was just too wonky for me! Nothing major, but equally nothing too special.

On the plus side, the hotel is smack bang in the middle of town, has a separate parking garage (free parking for guests), and breakfast is good value (at EUR8 per person).

The front desk didn't want to give us the Hotels.com rate until I said \"ok then, I'll just book it online\". After that, all was cool, as I did book it online.

I spent 4 nights at this hotel. The food here is excellent, as is the location right next to the bridge. My room had views up and down the river and of the castle. The Tourist Office is just across the bridge, as are the bus stops. The staff are friendly and speak very good English. Breakfast was €6 extra, but well worth it as the buffet sets you up for the day’s walking and exploring. The room and bathroom with shower were very clean and cleaned daily.

Would stay here again.

The hotel overall was disappointing. The room was out-dated, towels dingy with stains, bathroom not user friendly, no A/C (in the middle of summer), with open windows there were flies in room, cigarette smoke and loud people from down in courtyard. The interior smelled like fish from the kitchen. The staff was hard to find. The breakfast was additional cost and low quality with flies over food. The location was good if staying in Vianden however too far for Bastonge visits. Wifi was ok.

A pleasant stay in the center of Vianden

Having spend only one night in the hotel there is very little to say of an experience but I found the room and especially the bed very comfortable, though I have to agree with my wife that the furniture is a bit outdated but to me it was perfectly fitting for the whole surrounding and character of the hotel and town. If you like, we not only toured Europe but traveled a bit back and forth in time.
In itself the room was very clean and maintained, absolutely nothing to complain about.
Having arrived on one of the hottest days we had to leave the windows open to cool the room down and being bang on in the town center we experienced the noise of the road mentioned in other reviews, which is hardly the hotel's fault. Just be aware if you happen to have a front facing room and a light sleep.
Perhaps the night would have been a bit more relaxing if the shutters/blinds were closed during the day (to keep the full heat out) or a fan was provided for the night.
As I mentioned, we only stayed one night and for this we had an overall good experience and surely would book the hotel again if the occasion arises.
In fact, when we arrived at the hotel we had forgotten why we booked it in the first place and finding ourself in such a beautiful and (excuse the phrase) quirky town with a castle on the top of the hill we regretted not having planned more time for our stay here.

Stayed at the hotel over Easter weekend so it was fairly quiet, exactly what we needed. We had a clean spacious room w/a comfortable bed. Enjoyed european breakfasts and 2 dinners in the hotel, the Canard was wonderful and very reasonable. Used the spa and had it all to ourselves, it was clean and relaxing. Didn't go to the bar/lounge, but it always seemed to have business from other guests and the locals, a popular place. The staff were very helpful, polite and made sure that we were happy. Would gladly stay there again!

Just a few minutes walking away from multiple bus stops, from which you can also go to other cities multiple times an hour. Also very good position in the centre of Vianden so that everything is quickly reachable on foot. The staff was incredibly nice and the hotel itself was really pretty and clean. The room was up to expectations, but the bathroom was quite small. Nonetheless, they provided everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfy and we had a lot of room to store our things.

Ik vond de gastvrijheid perfect, goed en stralend personeel die daar staat. Als bij de receptie en de bar/restaurant.
Wij vonden het jammer dat we de buren en het restaurant duidelijk konden horen. Wat we ook jammer vonden was de dekbed die vies was met wat rode sporen en het rook niet vries in de badkamer.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits à l'hôtel Victor Hugo et avons été ravis de notre séjour. Notre chambre avait vue sur la rivière. Mooie locatie, waardoor vlakbij gratis parkeren wel lastig is. Wel is er op 300 meter afstand voldoende plek.

Nette, schone kamer, hoewel sommige dingen wat onderhoud nodig hadden (loszittende badsteun en handdoekenrek).

Hôtel agréable et calme, la chambre standard est un peu petite et la douche aussi et la décoration sobre.
La chambre double confort est plus spacieuse et a une vue sur la terrasse du jardin et est donc plus calme.

We hadden een aangenaam verblijf. Personeel is heel vriendelijk.
Ontbijt ( voldoende uitgebreid) en avondmaal was goed.
De kamers op het 3de verdiep zijn ruim en zeer proper.
Jammer van de geurhinder in de badkamer. Hopelijk lost de eigenaar dit euvel snel op.

Zeer goed gelegen middenin Vianden. Ruime kamer met keurig sanitair. De dame die mij ontving, spreekt veel talen waaronder Nederlands. Mijn fiets kon in een afgesloten garage staan waar ook motoren in kunnen. Slechts een straat achter het hotel. Dineren in het restaurant was erg lekker en het ontbijt had meer dan voldoende keuze.
