What a lovely stay! Location was perfect for a first time trip to Istanbul, a 5-10 minute walk to all of the sites we wanted to see (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace). On a very cute and quiet street but could easily walk a few blocks and be in the business of Istanbul, so many restaurants and shops nearby. Would definitely recommend!

A very nice traditional boutique type hotel with an excellent restaurant and attentive service. Close to the tourist attraction but also close to traditional part of Istanbul. Nice rooms, the ones close to the entrance and facing the restaurant garden are nice but noisy at night.

Room had a musty gross smell and the bedsheets were not clean. They put me in a basement room which was even worse. Also the toilet barely flushed. I requested a new room and they said there were none available. Ive stayed in better hotels for half the price. Definitely would not stay here again.

This is one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. Staff amazing. Knowledge and support where to go etc, was fantastic. Help with taxis, tours etc. The hotel feels like a lovely relaxing oasis, in a big city. Restuarant amazing. The staff were very helpful nothing was a problem. All major tourist attractions in walking distance. Just an amazing experience start to finish. Definitely will go back again

The service in this hotel is excellent… friendly and helpful. The garden setting is also lovely and the cuisine in the restaurant is first class… especially the chicken güveç!
The only downside of my stay was a very noisy room on street level with vehicles, mopeds, scooters passing 4 feet from my window. Quite a racket so I slept badly for several nights.

This hotel is not what it used to be (i.e. wonderful). The breakfast is no longer excellent but sub par. The afternoon and evening restaurant has been leased to an independent company and while the food is good, it’s very pricey and the service leaves a lot to be desired. We were not offered water when we sat down and had to request it midway through the meal. There was no guidance offered on the menu. Our room was extremely noisy (on the front) and we got little sleep on the first night.

Excellent characterful hotel- built around a garden courtyard in which you can find the restaurant which is most excellent! Possibly the best in the area, good food supported by very attentive and pleasant staff.

Speaking of which the staff were all absolutely wonderful special shout outs to Mrs Merve who sorted the transfer from airport and Mr Elvin who sorted out local events.
Special thanks also to the hotel cat for providing cat related home comforts.

Situated 5 minutes from the hippodrome and blue Mosque, say 10 mins from Hagia Sophia and 15 from Topkapi. 15 minutes the other way to the Grand Bazaar . I can whole heartedly recommend !

Very poor AC, No Parking and broken Jacuzzi

All I am going to say is that the hotel is advertised incorrectly.
There is no parking option. Paid street parking os the only option and that cost $20 per night - The hotel management absolutely did not care.
The AC broke in our room that was at the top of the building, and the noise and temperature was unbearable - eventually we were moved to a different room.
In both rooms the advertised Jacuzzi bath was not working properly.
For €155 per night this was a disgrace.
If you threw a stone in any direction you would hit 10 other hotel options that I would try before going back again.

We are so pleased that we chose to stay at the Garden House Hotel. Our room was excellent. The air conditioning and internet worked brilliantly. The breakfast set us up for the day, meaning we only needed a snack for lunch before an evening meal. The staff were friendly and super efficient. It is in a brilliant area with the main sights within a walking distance. The only reservation that I would stress is that there isn’t a lift. Also it is at the bottom of a very steep hill. However, Istanbul is based on hills, so not a great place for people with mobility issues.

Within walking distance there are lots of great restaurants. The hotel restaurant is extra special and we had our most memorable meal of the holiday. We were so pleased with the hotel, if we ever go back to Istanbul, we’d definitely look to stay here again!

Excellent location in Sultanahmet district. Excellent service, the staff is very nice and efficient. And the restaurant is on the top 10 best places to eat in the district. The food was indeed delicious! The exterior terrace is a little piece of heaven from the noisy streets. I would stay there again!

Excellent hotel. Maybe the best Istanbul has to offer. I really enjoyed my stay. This isn’t a corporate hotel so if you’re looking for that kind of experience, maybe try somewhere else but expect to pay ten times the price. But if you’re looking for a home from home with friendly staff and a lovely courtyard and nice food, this is Istanbul’s best kept secret. They even have a beautiful cat.

Garden courtyard was a real haven and bonus in this busy city. Breakfast buffet offered fantastic choice. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms, in the old part of the hotel at least, could be updated, but were clean. We only found Turkish and Italian channels on the tv. The location is convenient for Sultahnamet - it's about a 5minute walk to the Hippodrome.

My mother could not walk down the stairs to the breakfast room and they set up tables for us to have breakfast at the garden area. I would like to all hotel staff for everything they did especially to Selcuk, Hamide, and Murat!!! It has a great location and nice private garden in the busy city!!

We were fortunate to have the ground floor rooms, it was two rooms made into one.
Only thing was in the morning cars driving pass does wake you up..
Overall it was good the staff were excellent from the receptionist to the Breakfast Team!

A home-away-from-home hotel

We stayed with my wife at this lovely place for a week. Both of us really enjoyed our stay as the room was really nice. But what is really good about this hotel is that you would feel at home when you talk to hotel staff. They are really amazing and helpful. Always there to assist. Breakfast is simple and very nice. I had stayed in a variety of hotels before in different countries but I really loved this hotel for the sense of homeliness it gives. The location deserves a particular mention too. It is within easy walking distance of most of the attractions in Istanbul. So when we go to Istanbul next time, I won't have a second thought about finding a place to stay. I would simply book with this hotel!

We really liked Garden hotel and had a nice experience. The location is perfect as it is walking distance from Blue mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, etc. The rooms and other amenities were very clean along with diverse and treat to tongue buffet breakfast. We had dinner also in its restaurant and it was a fab experience with good turkish cuisine and live music by one of their staff Yasar. We spent our 10th Wedding Anniversary and the birthday of one of us in this little gem in Istanbul. The hotel offers a generous breakfast provided by helpful staff. We had a wonderful reception. It has a reasonably priced restaurant that serves lovely food. The rooms are wide and tidy. The hotel is located near all the best historic attractions in the Sultanhamed district. The \"blue mosque\", Haga Sofia and Topkapi Palace are all nearby at walking distance. So the Grand Bazaar. Would recommend the Museum of Islamic Culture too. Could not thank enough all the staff in this lovely hotel. The people that serve the breakfast, front-desk staff, cleaning personnel, waiters, etc. Everybody is so attentive and caring. We had a fantastic time. Thank you so much for everything! We will be back!

The hotel is in the old part of the city and is close to the old historic area, which can be easily walked, but there is a steep incline. The breakfast was really excellent and the hotel is very good and suited us just fine. I can not recommend it more highly for it`s star rating.

Hotel convenient to central Istanbul by tram. Also within Sultanahmet neighbourhood and therefore to Blue Mosque, restaurants, market and excellent shopping via very short walk. Excellent no-charge breakfast with omelettes made on request. Also nice complementary afternoon tea.Very helpful staff. Small room but with comfortable bed, good internet, working air conditioning. Occasional noise from busy street; were nonetheless able to sleep soundly. We would definitely stay there again.

this is a nice little hotel within easy walking distance to all the key sites in Sultanmhet.

we stayed 11 nights in turkey with 8 in Istanbul at this hotel and a side trip for 3 nights. we had three rooms -- one for my wife and i, one for my teenage son and another room for a pair of teenage daughters.

rooms at the garden were nice and clean and the bathroom with its shower and sitting area was wonderful to come home to after a long day walking around Istanbul. staff was friendly and helped us organize tours, transportation. the breakfast every morning was delicious. nice garden in the backyard....a nice place to relax.

no its not a large luxury hotel built exclusively for westerners looking for luxury. but for the price point and what we were looking to do....this was a great little find.

have already recommended to friends.

Very nice hotel in a great location!

We stayed for six nights and had a nice room overlooking the garden area - a very quiet and clean, comfortable room with a little Juliet balcony that was lovely to sit on in the late evening and listen to the calls to prayer and watch the seagulls flying overhead. Had dinner TWICE at the hotel because the food is excellent. Breakfast was a very nice and extensive selection. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - we particularly enjoyed chatting with Denyse at breakfast every morning. A good hotel at a very reasonable price. Location is great for seeing the sights. Adjoining properties are not as picturesque but because the location in Sultanahmet was so good, that small detail is easy to overlook.

The staff at Garden House are incredible. Garden House was having an anniversary and providing discounts to guided tours of Istanbul. The nice organizer sat down with us and went over brochures and made recommendations, and then called the companies and booked the tours for us. It was incredibly simple. We booked two tours for the next two days without any hassle. The ladies at the breakfast buffet are incredibly nice and everyone seemed eager to please their guests. The room was fairly large and comfortable, although the bed was SUPER squeaky, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. We had one of the beds with the rod iron bedframe, if you look through the hotels.com pictures of the rooms.

We stayed at the Rose Garden for three nights, and were EXTREMLY happy. The hotel is a gem, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, and the food is ever so yummy! Breakfast is our favorite meal and there is a great variety of tasty and healthy variety of food. Their lunch and dinner options are great (try the Manti, a Turkish version of meat ravioli).

The location is approximately a 7 minute walk from the Blue Mosque, and 10 minutes from everything else. There are hotels much closer to the tourist sites, but then way too crowded. The Rose Garden allows you to be in close proximity, but also gives you the peace and quite and relaxation required for a great vacation.

The courtyard was by far our favorite place to be, especially during 3-5pm for the complementary tea, coffee and snacks :-)

Walking distance from many of the main tourist sites or take the tram across the water or to the ferry piers. We found all of the staff friendly and helpful and the superior rooms were well equipped with minibar, kettle, hairdrier and a safe (no charge). It's quite hilly around the hotel and there are a lot of steps within the various parts of the hotel so may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties. There is a nice garden terrace area where you can eat and get drinks and a very good choice at breakfast (buffet). There are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance and all in all we thought it was an excellent choice at a reasonable price.

Perfectly situated for all the old town attraction

We spent 8 nights at the Garden House and it was the perfect base for the old town Istanbul. The hotel staff were charming and helpful - couldn't do enough for you. Our room was big and comfy there was no view but this was fine. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. We didn't get to try the afternoon tea and cakes as the time didn't suit (between 3 and 5). This was not a problem as tea and cake is plentiful through the city. The walk to the Blue Mosque, Palace etc was about 15- 20 mins but be prepared for some hill climbs and daring traffic. The Grand Bazaar is about the same distance.The tram is about 15 mins from hotel and this will take you to the ferry ports, Gelata, Taskim ect. If you are looking for a bit of night life then the area around Navizade is a must esp. at the weekend. The dining and night-life in the old town is more family orientated and there is a great atmosphere Kumkapı square.

Great location for sights!

We spent four nights at the Garden/Rose Garden Hotel. It's located within walking distance to all the main tourist sights in Sultanahmet (i.e. Blue Mosque)- but be warned if you arrive at Sabiha Gocken airport (SAW) as it is a good two hour + commute! We were given an upgrade on our room when we arrived (which we were thankful of given the late arrival and long day traveling) and were more than pleased with the standard of the bed, bedding, decoration of room, complimentary dressing gown/toiletries etc. Bathroom was basic but fine. Only recommendations would be to clean the grouting in the shower as it was mouldy and the bin in the bedroom hadn't been emptied from previous guests- this was emptied on subsequent days. There was a little road noise as our room overlooked the street and was directly above the reception area- if you are a light sleeper this could cause issues. However the garden area- where the restaurant is located is peaceful and the cats provide constant entertainment. Quality of breakfast was good- good selection of both hot and continental options. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on one evening and it was good Turkish fare (i.e. set menu with sis kebab). Staff were very accommodating.

One of the best hotel experiences ever

Everything about the hotel is great. From the location, staff, breakfast, decor to the cleanliness of the room. Its highly recommended for anyone visiting istanbul. All the historical places are at a 10 minutes walk.
Rooms 104 , 204, 211 and 213 are the most recommended ones. For old aged people it should be 104. Best decor and good view from the balcony.

Lovely friendly little hotel in the old town

We spent four nights there and the hotel really added to the wonderful memories we have of our holiday. The place is fairly small so the atmosphere is good and, being an old wooden building, it's full of character. The restaurant serves a very tasty range of foods - the breakfast is a buffet and you can ask for eggs to be cooked to order (lovely omelettes!). All the staff were truly wonderful and they are a real bonus to staying there.
There were only two things that I'd suggest future guests take note of: rooms facing the road can be noisy and you should look at the map if you want to see how to avoid walking up a rather steep hill to get to the Hippodrome (it's easy to avoid the hill and it's good not to have to struggle up it)

Their personnel is outstanding

The hotel is comfortable, clean, very well located, and the personnel is outstanding, always going out of their way to be helpful and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Just be aware that if you're elderly or unfit, there are a lot of stairs to go up and down, and no elevator, so ask for a 1st or 2nd floor room. We were in a 5th floor room and although we got there gasping and sore, the comfort of the room made it worth. The restaurant is quite good, and the service offered by all of them there, specially Yasar and Ram, is indeed remarkable. Very good value for money.

Gorgeous hotel, perfect location, wonderful staff!

The Garden House Hotel was just fantastic, all the pictures on their website are realistic and the whole place is so clean. Every day our room was cleaned with towels arranged on the bed - a gorgeous personal touch. All the staff were incredibly helpful and so friendly!! Its just a 5 or 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque one way, and about a 15 minute walk the other way to the Grand Bazaar. We will never stay anywhere else in Istanbul!

Introduction to Istanbul

The Garden House/Rose Garden Suites intends to give guests a comfortable home base while getting to know Istanbul. It's charming both in design and in location in the old City. We got good advice and help to book an introductory tour. After that, we decided to go on our own, asking them to organize just a couple of transfers, which they did precisely. The staff in the restaurant were especially gracious and friendly. In addition to the wonderful Turkish breakfast each day, we enjoyed good dinners made to order. We got to know several staff members in our week there and felt so much at home we didn't want to leave. The junior suite was a bit smaller than I expected for us (mother and son traveling together) but would be just right for a couple. I do plan to return with other family members.

Wonderful stay in Istanbul at Garden House Hotel

This hotel in Istanbul exceeded our expectations by far. Great location within 10-15 minute walk of Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace. We got a junior suite that was beautifully decorated with a marble spa bathtub. The staff at the hotel were extremely kind and helpful making us feel like at home. We also got free Wifi and a great breakfast buffet included. We highly recommend this fantastic hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul.

Prime location

This hotel is in a prime location. Within walking distance to a lot of the historic sites but roads are all brick, narrow and hilly. Not convenient for families with a stroller!! Other than that it's a fun walk. The hotel does not have an elevator either so be prepared! The rooms were sparkling clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, looks like they invested in high end mattresses! Breakfast was delicious and staff was extremely helpful. To feel the ambience of the old city with today's comfort, I definately recommend this hotel!!

“Unforgetable stay in Istanbul”

We spent 5 days/4 nights in Istanbul on holiday at the Rose Garden House Hotel as a small family with our 4 year-old little daughter. At the Ataturk airport we could hardly find any shuttle bus and at the end we took a taxi which was a good choice for 20 euros. From the hotel back to the airport there was a shuttle bus service for 5 euros pp, frequent routes, clean, modern and comfortable. The hotel staff was really friendly, helpful, polite and accommodating. The room we found quite spacious, clean and quiet. Bed big enough and comfortable for relaxing sleep. The garden lobby was ideal and peaceful for a rest after the long sightseeing days. Breakfast plentiful, variety of delicious authentic food in a nice atmosphere and good service. Location is perfect in the Old Town, all the main attractions, museums and amenities are in short walking distance. Would return any time with pleasure. We recommend it!

In a great location, everything famous about old Istanbul is within a short walk. Each room is unique, and the complimentary breakfast was also very good.

My only complaint was the bathroom smelled like mildew, or dirty water. It was very strong. But after staying in a few other hotels in Turkey, all of which had a slight hint of it, I think it's an issue with Turkish water. Unless you want to pay top dollar, there is a 50/50 chance you'll run into that smell.

Average - a fair walk from sights

In a residential area, fair bit of walking.

There are good reviews about this hotel, which is why I booked it.

I however have mixed feelings after our stay here.

Not all the staff are friendly. People in Istanbul are generally friendly so there is no exception here with this hotel.

When you first enter they are extremely friendly. However after settling in, they only like you to spend money within their hotel, and will very cleverly talk you out of spending money on any restaurants in or around the area. They will do anything possible for you to spend money at their restaurant (which is often empty).

They will also ensure that you only book any tourist guide/dinner/other packages with them and nobody else. This is extremely off putting.

For the money that is paid for this hotel, and the services, it really isn’t worth it.

Breakfast is very average and nothing special. The staff are extremely moody at the restaurant.

This hotel is a fair uphill walk from the Blue Mosque, if you are elderly/with children/have any health problems this is not the hotel to stay at.

It is a good 15/20 minute walk from the Blue Mosque and an even further walk to Grand Bazaar. The taxis are extremely expensive.

The hotel will quote you for taxis that are not generally the correct quote that the taxi driver will give you.

I wanted to stay in the older part of the city to experience the environment. However this was not the right hotel to experience this.

Hotel was satisfactory and quaint but there are more impressive options nearby for the price range. Whatever you do, DO NOT BOOK AN ECONOMY ROOM, unless you enjoy hostel like conditions. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The location was good if your target area is the Sultan Ahmet area attractions.

Excellent hotel just minutes from the main sights

This is a lovely little hotel, just a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, the old bazaar, and all other major sights of Istanbul. The hotel is pleasantly situated in a quiet street, and it is clean and comfortable. Best of all are the staff, who are all lovely people. Particular thanks to Murat on the front desk, who is such a helpful and friendly guy.

We spent six days here and were made to feel at home throughout. The staff all did their best to make us feel welcome and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Our room was a cheap economy double which was cosy but had a fridge, hairdryer, air con and TV and a well-stocked bathroom.The highlight of the hotel is definitely its outdoor seating area and bar. The proximity to Sultanahmet sightseeing and the Kumkapi seafood restaurants are big pluses, though the steep hill and walk to the tram could be a downer for some people.

Friendly hotel in convenient location

We arrived at night and we were glad we'd booked a taxi as the hotel is not easy to get to directly by public transport from the airport.

We were checked in and provided with some helpful advice about the location and access to key sites.

Our room was in the downstairs courtyard and was a good size and layout for our 5 night stay.

The hotel breakfast was provided buffet style with eggs/ omelettes being cooked to order and served very promptly.

There was a pleasant garden seating area serving meals and/or drinks, including complimentary hot drinks and cake from 4-6pm.

The hotel was a very friendly, comfortable and convenient place to stay , although between breakfast and bedtime we were rarely there because of the other attractions of Istanbul.

Booked and paid for 2 twain bed room .Ended with one king room and extra bed .When i raise the issue the feedback was we don't have rooms with 2 twins to start with !!. Then they told me the rooms are all booked !!

I didn't not get what i paid for and i had to sleep on the small bed very uncomfortable .The room has a see thru bathroom door had to leave the room whenever my roommate has to use the bathroom

We did stay here for 3 nights in second half of July. It came out to be a very good choice for us. Location is very good for sightseeing, eating and walking around. Most of the usual tourist destinations are easy to reach by foot. Plenty of restaurants around, few good bars if you are ready to walk around the small streets. The hotel it self has a good garden where you can eat, relax or use the free wifi. Must say lunch and alcohol drinks are maybe a bit on the high end of the prices we came across in Istanbul. But the complimentary breakfast was ok, so are free water, tea and coffee. The Reception service also was good. Staff is very helpful. Helped us with explaining the ways of getting around and booked a Bosphorus boat trip for us. We did drive over to the hotel and the hotel looked after our car at a nearby location whiles we did stayed over. Room was small, but ok. We only slept there, so the only thing not to our taste were the pillows - a bit too big/high. Still it was clean, had a small balcony looking overlooking to the garden. AC was blowing over the bed, so not the best location, but again we did not use it much - not during the night. We've been in better hotels, but the price, the location, the staff and the state of the hotel, is a good reason to RECOMMEND this hotel for your short stay in Istanbul!

Good hotel in old town close to historic sites

We had a great welcome on arrival and were offered the choice between two rooms. As the hotel does not have a lift we chose the ground floor room which, although it faced on to the street, proved to be very quiet. Breakfast and dinner were good and there were always complimentary hot and cold drinks available, frequently with cake and fruit too. The air conditioning was very efficient.

Nice hotel, decent location out of the hustle of Sultanahmet - does require a bit of a hike though. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are refreshed nicely daily. Breakfast is good with an extensive selection. Free water, tea/coffee and fruit available all day along with free wi-fi. Really nice courtyard to relax in under the shade of a large walnut tree. Only complaint is that the bathrooms are in need of major plumbing work. Water leaks, extensive mold and dodgy repairs prevail. If this doesn't bother you then the hotel is great.

We enjoyed our 10 day stay in this hotel. We stayed in the suite which is very spacious (other rooms are significantly smaller) but did not have a balcony. We really enjoyed the garden for relaxing in the shade and and enjoying the free coffee, tea, and snacks.
The food was overall good. The location is fantastic, really close to many attractions.

Had to spend hours to connect to my corporate network. Corporate travelers may not be happy with that. This hotel is small and very nice. Five floors without elevator. But not so bad at all. There is someone who helps raise the luggage room. Breakfast is reasonable and delicious.
