I stayed at this motel several years ago and due to the horrible condition of the property, vowed never to stay there again. But I checked the most recent reviews and they seemed pretty good. I thought maybe they had updated the place. The room appeared better at first. But apparently they just placed Band-Aids over everything. In the first room, water was literally seeping through the floorboards in the entire room…from the bathroom all the way to the front door. They moved us to a second room. There were visible leaks and sagging on the ceiling in the bathroom. The front door was crooked so the deadbolt wouldn’t lock. Everything was dirty and dingy in general.
To make things even more unpleasant, they do not have actual staff at the front desk. You speak to and check-in with someone through a computer from an outsourced call center. However, they did have a staff member available to address the issues with the water leak in the first room.
I cannot fathom how this place has received the amount of good reviews it has. I frequently stay at Motel 6, so I know what to except, and the bar isn’t set very high. But this place is just bad.

Average room. Clean, but toilet and shower were very low. Central location so walkable to some restaurants and casinos. Check in was on a video screen so we were greeted by a man on screen when we walked into an office. That was a first for us. We had to input some info manually on the screen. Not terrible but just different. Personally, I like in-person better.

Weird to walk in and walk to a screen in the lobby, but whatever, I can adapt, but there is nothing like a kind, warm body behind a desk. The person on the screen in check in was hard to understand and seemed annoyed when I couldn’t understand him. Room was super small and the ‘renovation’ was poorly done….caulking that looked like a kindergartener did it and missing tiles. Dirty back board on bed. Dirty TV that didn’t work well. Lawn was weedy and over-grown. Hair, not my hair on the bathroom floor. Do not recommend.

Automated check in. Twice we've stayed here and our Request for lower floor no stairs has never been given. Hotel was next to empty both times. We had to carry our 50lb dog up/downstairs because she can't climb stairs. She's not A small dog. If you offer rooms for dogs allow them for lower floors as well, especially in cases where seniors are involved. We will not stay here again for this reason. Stairs are not easy for all people with dogs.

This place has really gone down hill. No one works the desk at check in. You have to speak to someone in India through a kiosk located in the office. I couldn’t understand anything he was saying. Finally got the key to come out of the kiosk but of course it didn’t work. Let’s just say check in was a disaster. Microwave broken. No coffee in the room. In wall heater would not stay on. Shower curtain to short and not long enough. Bathroom all wet after shower. Only one ceiling light in the room and the bed stand lights did not work. The window curtain does not close all of the way because the AC heater is partially in the window. No tissue paper. The Indians that own this hotel are so cheap they won’t pay for tissue, coffee or heaters that stay on and don’t automatically shut down. But being so cheap you won’t hire someone to work at the desk is just too much. The Person on the Kiosk in India that they pay a dollar a day could not fix any of problems. Do yourself a favor and skip the Motel 6 in Ely.

This is one of the sketchiest experiences ive ever had. I went to check in but there was no one there except a big screen. Then an Indian pops up to check me in that barely spoke English and Im certain he was located in India. He proceeds to tell me scan my ID so i do then he tells me to scan the other side, then i have to scan my credit card. So now all my personal information and CC info, is all located on some computer in India. I felt like i was being scammed for sure. Then you consider everyone has to do that. They probably have all the personal information linked to a CC on thousands and thousands of people sitting on a computer in India. How does that make you feel? The hotel itself was under construction so not the best but the room was descent. Because of the check in situation im not sure id ever want to stay there again. What if the hotel was bought by an Indian then a couple years later he declares bankruptcy or sales the place. They now have the personal info of thousands of people.

Glad we relied on Hotels reviews. An older property, but clean and tidy. Room had signature Motel 6 vinyl plank flooring, so no wondering about stains on the carpet. Pets free. We did poke our noses into a different casino-related property down the road and immediately departed due to the odor of smoke. We'll stay there again on the way back.

I have never checked into a hotel with a guy in a box before. That was an experience I hope to never have again. We have stayed at this place once before and it was fine.
We were probably one of maybe four rooms occupied. I asked for a room on the ground floor and was told since I booked through Expedia I didn’t pay enough to have a room on the ground floor. I should have booked directly through them to get that privilege.
When we got to the room it was ok until we went into the bathroom. The toilet was clean thankfully. The shower curtain had what appeared to be nose burgers wiped on it. Yuck. The shower had pink and orange mold all around it. Yuck again. Needless to say we didn’t use it. There was a hole in the wall where there should have been an exhaust fan. We will not be staying here again.

His boss must have stepped in because he did let us change rooms where the TV worked. It must have been closer to get any service or reception.

It seems like room 288 was converted from a single bed to two doubles. This puts the HVAC machine hanging over the bed that is against the outside wall. The unit is very noisy as well. Less than ideal to say the least.

Our puppy was sick in the night and soiled the bed linens. When we reported this to the day manager, expecting to pay some compensation, he said sometimes things like that happen and it would be OK. He was a very nice and understanding man. We insisted so he said $3 would be enough! Human kindness still survives.

Typical Motel6 old and run down.
First time in 30 years of travel I've been told my country picture id driver license wasn't good enough and they wanted my passport.
Not happy about giving out my passport to strangers. Unacceptable.
Also their security deposit is 150, not 100 like most normal places.
Paid cash for the room but then you cannot use credit card for room deposit, must also be cash.
Last time we'll use Motel6.

They need new housekeepers!!!!! Very dirty!!!! Thick layer of urine down the front of the toilet... around the toilet!! Mirror and faucet had stuff caked on them!!!! Old food with freezer burn in icebox!! Blood or some type of fluid splattered on the wall. NOTHING has ever been wiped down!! You can remodel all you want but if the room is filthy, it doesn't matter!! Very disappointed because we had just stayed at motel 6 in Pendleton Oregon and it was AWESOME!!

We stayed at this Motel 6 a few weeks prior to this most recent visit. Our room had both a small fridge and microwave in our room. The room for this stay had neither. Moreover, the area in which a common microwave was located had parts of the roof falling apart. However, the room was acceptably clean, if spartan.

The customer “service” person was gruff, rude and opinionated. Definitely believe he is above the job. Looks as though he just got off construction site. Not a good look/feel.
I wear a mask for protection. He asked if I were sick. This is political projection and intimidation. I did not feel safe there after that.
This guy does not belong behind a front desk.

I left my belt for my jeans on the bed, and I tried to call him after I left, and it was so hard to get the number to that facility. I called back to the general number and the guy was going to contact him and then disconnected and never help me and property owner at where I stayed has not tried to contact me to tell me they had my property.
