My reservation was for 2 adults and a 14 year old minor, but at the time of the reservation the receptionist stated that the minor was supposed to be a 1 year old infant so therefore they charged almost 1800 pesos more.

Very disappointed in this resort, we arrived late and we were shown to our room , we were very uncomfortable with the open kitchen and open space with our neighbour. We went to a grocer the next morning and throughly cleaned our place. It was very gross, but we decided to stick it out for 3 days. By day three we were ready to leave and find a better resort that suited our comfort zone. Unfortunately they would not give us a refund and though they did try to give us another room , we decided to stay put because we had cleaned the room and didn’t want to clean another. So we made the best of an extremely uncomfortable situation. The only internet was by the pool and lobby, we had been told it would be in our room the next day, never saw it,haha . Our bed was so hard, my wife had to put towels down to soften the mattress so she could sleep. No matches for our gas stove, and no hot water in the kitchen, it was so bad it was funny. The birds had free range to visit and leave calling cards. Pool was nice except for the dirty lounges and bird poop on the back of the lounges. The umbrellas were nicely decorated with the bird droppings also, nice to look at when you are relaxing. Every chair and couch were uncomfortable. Because the kitchens were open, it was very, very loud. Found popcorn kernels under the bed and a discarded plastic cup under the shelf in the kitchen. The resort looked nice in the pictures and the people working there were lovely. Never so happy to leave a holiday.

The beach here was great. There was lots of action, vendors, restaurants.
Within the hotel, I really enjoyed the Mexican families, and how happy the children were playing with their siblings and parents.
The staff were ver friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel support staff, specially parking staff were friendly. Front desk staff needs more customer service training, not friendly, always in a hurry, not accommodating. Hotels needs bell boys or at least luggage carts. Pools were clean, perhaps extending hours to 10 pm instead of 8pm. Great location, easy beach access, close to shopping and boat trip to Isla del Coral.

Ancient rooms , pool chairs full of bird poop. Family woke up with what looked like bed bug bites. Told office about the bed bugs they said some people are more prone to it. Asked for a discount they said no.

Our stay was amazing but their system was down and I wasn't able to pay with my debit card . I had to pay out of pocket which I wasn't expecting. The staff wasn't much help at providing information regarding the other payment options. Other then that it was a pleasant experience !

This was a different experience from what we are used to. the hotel is very nice, but we were not expecting being a little bit of open space, just a couple of plants divide one room from another, and there is no windows or anything from the kitchen to the outside. the weather was perfect during the day, but a little bit cold in the night and morning. because there is no windows or anything, our room was very cold. this hotel doesn't have a private beach. The parking was for free and it was a little far from the hotel. we needed to leave early the next day and the parking lot was closed with chain, we needed to wait until the guard came to open the gate so we could take our vehicle. overall the experience was different and the kids enjoyed their stay

Great Getaway on the Beach.

We had a fabulous stay here. Everything we hoped for, directly on the beach, early check-in that we requested and a wonderful corner suite. The kitchen and balcony are open air which was fun. The safe in the bedroom is adequate to hold your purse and tablets for safety.There is activity on the beach but not noisy and a delight to watch. Ample restaurants nearby but with restrictive hours so check opening hours when we find a spot that interests you.
The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. We'll definitely return on our next visit to Guayabitos.
The wifi is a little iffy in the room but, hey, it's Mexico! Wifi's fine at the front desk.

Liked the architecture/colonial style. Parked on the street. At check out we were told we had to pay for water which was never said at check-in. Also told we'd be charged for dirty dishes ( 4 cups, 2 small plates and a knife) no one said we had to do any dishes and it's not like we left very many. Did not have daily maid service so it seems like the least they could do is a few dishes

Great location on beach. Family friendly. Staff was friendly and outdoor areas were well maintained.
My cabana was just right with kitchen and comfortable bed. However the pillows were hard as a rock. Also, the room cleaners never cleaned the bird poop off the railings and the floor below the railings in my room.
I may stay again on my next visit.

In general the property was ok. My 2 biggest drawbacks were beach access was closed. They say its because of government regulations, but other beach front properties had their access open. And the parking was very far away, almost a 10 minute walk. Ohh and the elevator does not work period. It says it was under maintenance but in 3 days no one worked on it.

Under construction pool and restaurants. My wife’s expensive jacket turned up missing from luggage storage area next to front desk. Staff blamed it on my wife for leaving it there, they said it was a extra service to us for our luggage storage While we waited for check in time. After numerous attempts or visits to management and front desk, they told us nothing was turned in (lost n found). I told them it was stolen, not missed placed or lost. They again repeated the luggage storage policy and they weren’t responsible. The following day again after numerous attempts to question front staff, a miraculous thing happened. The jacket turned up, again after my wife went to them to ask, not staff contacting us!!!!!! We left angry that there is a thief working there and front desk staff blamed us. I gave a heads up to some people checking in as we left.
They should have warned us of construction and no restaurants on ground in operation. I could go on but this should be enough to explain our disappointment!!!

We upgraded to a suite with an ocean view! It is hard to complain about that. The rooms were a unique experience having the kitchen open air and the bedrooms private which was actually very nice. The grounds are well-maintained and the rooms are very clean it is Centrally located to everything did not need a vehicle to get around. The water pressure in the showers was amazing! The pools and the music around the pools was very good.The kitchen had the basic amenities, That being said if we needed anything I went to the front desk and they seem to be able to accommodate us. My wish list would be better pillows, they were hard which made it difficult to have a good nights sleep, which in the grand scheme of things I was able to nap by the pool.

Amazing place, very close to the surf, place is super clean, food at the pool restaurant great !!! Pools are well kept. Very fun and safe place to be. Weekend has lots of activities on the beach lots to do. Oysters, fish and shrimp available on the beach. Well worth the cost of the room.

Jacuzzi was extremely hot, the temperature should have been lowered. I know about conserving energy but turning the whole electricity off with a key is ridiculous. Hard to see when we came in late at night The one day we decide to get a drink at the pool bar it is closed. Day off for bartender/cook.? What happened to part time help?

Great place to stay with family. Comfortable accommodations with a full outdoor kitchen in your cabana. The property has two pools, one with a swim up bar. The only downside is the parking which is about a block away from the hotel. The Hotel is right on the beach. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a great place to vacation. We stayed in one of the standard rooms and it was very comfortable, clean and updated. The hotel is mostly bungalows with the kitchen/dining areas open to the center courtyard and then the bedroom/bath enclosed. So if you like a lot of privacy you should get a standard room but these only have a coffee maker, no kitchen or dining area. The staff are wonderful and they work hard to keep the place in great shape.

The property is extremely well managed and run. Cleanliness was outstanding. Even the elevator smelled of cleanser. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I wonder whether some of the maintenance work might have been done in less than high season, but it does indicate management's intention to provide excellent facilities.

this property is way over priced, we stay in a cabin one night and a suite the next night. The cabin has outdoor cooking space and the inside in a bedroom and a VERY small bathroom ( shower was small but great pressure) Beds are the typical hardness and the noise from the Beach traffic was loud at time and quiet. The Ocean View suite was one bedroom with no privacy. Kitchen and living area is wide open and exposed to everyone walking by and looking from the other rooms

You Won't Find Better That's On the Beach!

We just completed our 1st visit to Rincón de Guayabitos and I cannot say enough about how great this place is! While it was just our first time at Cabanas del Capitan, we made acquaintances with another couple on their 6th visit to Guayabitos who have stayed at multiple places along the beach and they too found Cabanas del Capitan to be exceptional. Just tremendous attention to detail outstanding customer service. For example, our refrigerator died and they had a brand new one in our room within 2 hours. The grounds are immaculately maintained and rooms are too! I don’t think you can find a better place on the beach. We really liked the open-air kitchen and dining with partial scenic view of the ocean. They are adjacent to a public access way to the beach and you can sometimes get some late night and early morning noise while sleeping, but it was still an absolutely perfect stay!

My 2nd stay in 4 months. The room is great, staff is friendly property is kept nice.
The hotel is secure, a wristband is needed during the stay. Two entrances/exits.
One from the beach, another from the street.
I consider this hotel American standards.
My only 2 complaints is that the pool has closed at 8pm (in June and last week)
I wish the pool remained open until 10 or 11.
& the shower head could be better.
Towels were good. Large bathroom & shower.
I've booked another stay here in January.

was awesome. The check in was alittle bit slow but after everything was great. Front desk gave us a little upgrade as soon as they knew we were celebrating my birthday. Room 113 have a partial ocena view and was confy. We enjoyed everything about the resort, with the outside jacuzzi and the little restaurant by the pool. Service was nice, housekeeping was full of details during the cleaning. Wfi works well and we had a great time.

We had a terrible check in experience, we had four rooms and they give our rooms away so they had us spread all over the place. We had an infant and they said that children 1 year and older had to pay full price, we told them that she was 11 months and they saw her walking and then changed it to if she walks she pays. Parking was off the property and directions terrible. Pets are not allowed, but the owner had a mastif dalmatian dog barking at 5am, they had a security guard after hours to enforce the quiet times and general order at the property, but was a party going on until 3am. Pool was dirty, sinks in bathroom smelled horrible the acomodations for the extra person are outside the room without air conditioned or privacy and you have to clean your room before checking out and they won't refund your deposit until they inspect every room and take their time so checking out was a nightmare as well. In general a horrible experience and will not go back nor recommend it to anybody.

Nice smaller Mexican resort

This was my second stay at Cabanas del Capitan. It is my perfect winter escape. This small resort is centrally located, walking distance to the local markets and shops. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms, pools and grounds are clean. Grounds are swept and cleaned several times each day. Public bathrooms in pool area are cleaned regularly. The pool bar provides basic foods and a variety of drink options. I like the corded off beach area for lounging. I did not dine at the Tatema Restaurant, so cannot offer a review of it. The open air kitchen is a nice option for home cooked meals (especially breakfast). Kitchen supplies are basic.

The hotel itself is quiet, except for weekends when beach noises can carry up to the rooms. The Mexican families will picnic well into the evenings on the beaches in this town. Their music can be a bit bothersome, but it does shut down after sunset. This is beyond control of the hotel since all beaches are public.

Travellers should be aware that this is not a party town. It is suitable for those looking for a more tranquil holiday.

We didn’t know what to expect, and upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised. Such a pretty hotel. The owner went above and beyond to create a quaint, charming, picturesque Mexican hotel. We loved all the colors and murals on the walls. The location is perfect, the beach is right there, and the pool was super warm. We were there around Xmas and the place was beautifully decorated and lit to create a festive atmosphere. Don’t hesistate to book if you want an authentic Mexican hotel.

Open and airy hotel with an entrance to the beach.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The kitchen had most all supplies needed to prepare a meal. The beds were comfortable and the room had great air conditioning. Two pools onsite that are appropriate for small children. Only dissatisfaction parking is not on site. It's about a mile away but the walk serves as an opportunity to see some of the shops. Would definitely stay in my particular open suite again. There's security on site and rules are enforced.

The place was nice, however, it was a Sat-Sun stay and there was no way to get away from the noise. We never got to sleep, noisy street, noisy neighbors, way too many people in the pool to even use it. Would maybe stay on a weekday, but never again on a weekend. We were exhausted going home.

Nice Hotel by the beach

This is my second time staying at this hotel, the first time it was under pool construction but they managed to keep the place nice, meticulously maintained, pretty clean (the suite kitchens and dining areas are open to the outside so the occasional wind will bring some leaves) otherwise nice and clean, the second stay was even better with a newly built swimming pool with a bar!

Pretty little place

We stayed 7 nights in a bungalow. The living room and kitchen are open air, but the bedroom and bath is air conditioned. Very firm, comfortable beds. Great water pressure in the shower.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Pools are very nice and the giant palapa with 10 tables is great for shade! We had a wonderful vacation and will definitely come back!
Lots of great shopping and restaurants very short walk away also!
