The hotel and staff were great! Just a heads up for dog owners, there were no places to take your dog to pee. You have to walk at least 10 minutes to find a place. Otherwise, a great spot!!

I have stayed here many times and have been told that the rooms above the sports bar can be loud. I have in the past stayed in them with no issues to report but Thursday trivia mc and microphone was annoying , Karaoke Saturday was a nightmare So advise all to avoid these rooms but not the hotel itself as everything else about this place is great

Cons:
- the noise…it was absolutely impossible to sleep before midnight on the weekends due to the pub noise. Even with ear plugs, you will be feeling the vibrations and able to hear each and every word from the karaoke night which runs from 9-12 on Saturdays. This was briefly mentioned to us at checkin (but at this point it’s too late we had already booked and arrived with nowhere else to stay!) but is not very clear online especially if you book through a third party website as we did. Somewhere you can find in small print that some of the rooms are right above the pub and *might* experience extra noise but it is truly insufferable. There should be a pop-op or something when you try to book on a weekend with a disclaimer re: this situation as I did not feel I was adequately informed when booking.

All that to say I would stay again on a weekday but never a weekend.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Sleep Due to Constant Noise, Faulty Heater, and No Real Compensation

We checked into The Adventure Hotel in Nelson on January 10, 2026, and checked out the next morning after a very frustrating night. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we discovered the TV wasn’t working at all, so no chance to relax and unwind as planned.
The real issue was the lack of sleep. The wall-mounted heater/cooling unit produced a loud, intermittent buzzing noise that went on all night – impossible to ignore. The floors were extremely creaky; even walking to the bathroom woke up my partner every time. To top it off, around 4 a.m., someone in the room above us started moving furniture or chairs, creating even more disruptive banging.
When checking out, I politely explained the issues to the front desk staff and mentioned I hadn’t slept at all due to the constant noise. I was hoping for some goodwill, like a significant discount or a future credit, but all we received was a generic apology and a note that the room would be added to the repair list. They also mentioned we could have called for a room change (they had availability), but who wants to pack up in the middle of the night, move, and try to settle back in just to get a few hours of rest?
We’ve stayed at the Hume Hotel several times and always had excellent, quiet, comfortable experiences there. We decided to try the Adventure Hotel this time for a change, but it was a big mistake.

Location was good. Rooms were small, the “fireplace” didn’t give off heat, definitely just for ambience. Room was considered deluxe but seemed pretty standard. Not many cable channels but we were able to stream Netflix through our phone which was good to drown out the noise of the pub that was directly below.

My husband and I stayed for one night in an economy Queen. It was clean and well planned out. Staff at the front desk were very friendly, kind and helpful they were really nice to speak with. The bar and restaurant attached were fantastic. We arrived late so had dinner in the bar. Pizza was incredible as were the little pork ribs bites. Overall the hotel was great and I would definitely stay there again but next time I would get a bigger room. It’s a beautiful heritage building right downtown walkable to everything.

Upon check-in we were told the room I booked was over the bar and there was karaoke until midnight. The room was booked over a month ago with no disclosure about this. There was no other rooms we could move to. Very disappointing. We were up early to get on the road with very little sleep. Disappointing as the hotel is in an excellent location and the rooms were clean and updated.

Older property that has had some upgrades to the rooms.
Positives:
Room was clean, comfortable bed and nice new shower. No coffee, microwave or fridge in the room but these can be found in the guest lounge. Coffee was much better than most complimentary hotel brew. Patio area is a nice spot to relax, though it is set up for smokers so might not be for everyone if you’re not fond of the smell of cigarettes. Front desk and cleaning staff were quite friendly. Great location close to pretty much everything you want to see in downtown. Lots of nearby dining and shopping options.

Not so positives:
Parking at the hotel is very limited and the area around the hotel can be extremely busy, so be prepared for a walk to get to the hotel. Not sure if there is daily parking somewhere close by because all street parking is metered during the week.
This is a noisy property. The bar below is open until 11 most nights and is especially loud on karaoke nights (Saturday) which go until midnight. If outside sound is an issue book through the hotel and make sure your room is away from the bar. Unfortunately there is no escaping the extremely squeaky floors. If you’re not alone, it’s impossible to not disturb the other person if you get up early or get in late.
Lastly, the bathroom window is not frosted or tinted so if anyone in any of the nearby condos has a voyeuristic personally you’re somewhat exposed. Not a comfortable feeling. Highly recommend the hotel invest in some tinting film.

This hotel is a bit of a gem. It's an older hotel that has been somewhat updated which actually makes it a little eclectic. I really liked that! The rooms where clean, but our windows where not. I basically kept the blinds closed. The bed and linens were very comfy. The hotel has a pub, restaurant and a cafe. You couldn't ask for more. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The front staff were all so friendly and the restaurants attached were yummy, that’s about the only good thing about this hotel. The rooms were super outdated, the beds were not comfortable at all, and the parking situation was ridiculous. There was very limited parking or you had to pay. I paid nearly $700 to stay there only to also have to pay for parking, or just not be at the hotel until 9pm at night and make sure I’m out before 9am so I didn’t get a ticket. Don’t even get complimentary breakfast for the price it is to stay there.

Only problem was the super hard bed, mattress could be replaced ! And pressure on shower and water a bit stronger!

Great for 1-2 nights if you recover from back soreness quick!

Property was an overpriced old building with next to no parking. Nicely renovated but walls were paper thin. Had to call front desk at 3 am to ask them to tell my obnoxiously loud female nieghbor to shut up. Rooms are clean but small. Beds are rock hard. Are conditioner is mediocre at best. I'm tired of overpriced hotels that hide behind groups like expedia.

The hotel is super conveniently located and walking distance from everything and there's even a lovely cafe next door. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, my room was less than stellar. There was hair left in the bathroom from the previous person who stayed there, and the room smelled like someone had smoked in it. Also head's up, there's some construction going on across the street so be ready for an 7:45am wake-up.

We knew both from booking online and when we checked in that it would be loud Friday and Saturday night due to being right above the pub - so that was ok. It helps that we don’t go to bed before midnight and the pub music is quite loud until then. However the hotel itself is old and limited sound proofing between rooms with a door that rattles horribly when someone closes their door nearby - so it’s a loud place to stay overall. What we weren’t prepared for was the bathroom door that’s frosted glass and doesn’t seal - so if sharing a room with someone you’re not comfortable with hearing you in the bathroom this could be problematic. Additionally, the room were were in had poor window blinds that didn’t fit the windows properly so when the sun came up the room was incredibly lit up. Finally, parking is horribly limited. 10 stalls for the entire hotel and then you’re parking on the street if you aren’t lucky. Street parking is free from 5pm to 9am however so it’s not too bad. Best thing about the hotel was the front desk staff and the location to Baker street. Very easy to access Baker street and wander around. It’s not a bad hotel by any means - lots of quirks however.

There were only 10 parking spots, so we were afraid to take our vehicle out of the parking spot just in case we would not have parking. They did not have an elevator which made it difficult, as we were constantly up and down throughout the day.
