Excellent place to stay in Amherst, whether or not you’re visiting the university. Good food choices just an elevator ride away, plus many other choices at the other UMASS dining options. The breakfast is Continental plus waffles, and it features and non-gluten choices. The pastries are cut above what you expect from most hotels.

The parking situation was unacceptable when we arrived. The garage was closed and the lady preventing people from entering was very unhelpful. As an out of town visitor, I had no idea where she expected me to park. I had bags and I was told to park in the circle to drop them off. It was still quite a walk with my bags to the hotel. The front desk staff was sympathetic but had no reach solution other than to park in lots 25 or 12. That was a long walk away and I was beyond frustrated by this point. When we walked back up the hill, the garage was re-opened (the lady who was not very helpful was gone). We then walked back down the hill and almost to the far end of lot 25 and drove the car back to the garage. It was one of the worst first experiences I have had at a hotel ever. The staff at the hotel were friendly but the parking disaster pretty much ruined the experience.

There is a serious need for improvement in the breakfast menu. I came downstairs twice for breakfast, but the menu appeared to cater primarily to individuals over 60 years of age and did not offer enough variety. Expanding the selection with more diverse and appealing options would better meet the needs and preferences of a broader range of guests and improve overall meal satisfaction.

Beautiful view of the pond from our room! Convenient breakfast. I wish you offered granola as part of it. I also wish you had real potted plants in the common areas. Plastic plants and flowers are tacky (sorry) and they don’t send the right environmental messages—real plants help us breath!

Smack middle of campus. Ideal for touring UMass Amherst. You know where you are...the throw pillows and throw blanket on the beds were emblazoned with UMASS. Parking is not quite straight forward if you use GPS, but still easy to get to. Breakfast was a simple spread. Unfortunately, unable to adjust temperature of the room. There is no air conditioning in the room. I was told the building is central air?!

We booked 2 rooms for nearby Amherst College graduation. The hotel worked out perfectly (although we didn't get to try out the famous dining halls as they were already closed for the year), staff were always nice, the onsite parking at $6 was convenient and we were constantly amazed at how fast the elevators were. The only dings we had were the temperature control in the room was wonky - it got really hot and the a/c wouldn't come on because we were told the temp OUTSIDE was too cold? As we were on the 7th floor, they would not let us open the swing window (there's no safety mechanism). They brought up a fan but seems to be a known problem they might want to sort out. Also the continental breakfast was pretty slim - just waffles and some fruit. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.

We found 3 bugs in our room- they weren’t bed bugs maybe some type of stink bug the very kind manager suggested. For the price we had to pay for grad weekend we shouldn’t have been forced to deal with dead bugs. The hotel is old, out dated and had a musty smell. The manager was so nice but that is about all I can say.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Hotel UMass in advance of an accepted students visit on campus. The communications we received from the hotel before our arrival were clear so we knew how to find the garage to know where to park. Hotel check-in went smoothly. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. I loved the UMass themed decor on the beds. After a good night's sleep, we saw a beautiful view of campus outside our window. Breakfast was included and available in the lobby. Breakfast had simple offerings of cereals, pastries, bread, yogurt, and a make your own waffle station. Gluten free offerings were available. Dairy-free milk was also available. Upon check out, we were able to leave our car in the garage for the rest of the day, which was perfect while we checked out campus.

The room temp can’t be controlled by the guest. Room was blazing hot and windows can’t be opened. The nice staff did give us two fans but really need new hvac system that guests can control. Very old rooms and bathrooms that are hard to clean after years of use. There was coffee and pastries in the morning that was nice. I would not stay again as there are many hotels also close to campus since we had business there.

Was charged for 2 nights when I had cancelled 1. Wasn’t even at the hotel until 4pm on Saturday but they had already charged my card and ‘checked me in’ on Friday without my knowledge. It was pay at the hotel- how can I be charged when I wast even there to pay. The young am working the desk wasn’t very pleasant and didn’t want to help me resolve anything after he took 15 minutes trying to find my booking after i specifically told him the last name and not to use the hyphen. He told me I had to contact hotels.com and hotels said we needed to contact the hotel. I tried both and am out money.
