The AC/Heater going on and off during the night sounded like a plane taking off. Also The LED from what I believe was the fire detector would flash on/off every few minutes. It all made for a very sleepless night.

Have stayed many times as convenient to our friends in area..this time on ground floor and we're awakened at 6:30 by dumpster being emptied ..ugh...
Choose an second floor room and also avoid having to walk outside to go to lobby for brkfst..raining & cold this morning 😞

This is a very special place. The rooms are very well thought out with many intelligent details that made my stay more comfortable.

Great breakfast. The coffee is organic :).

The staff are always available and very responsive.

Property was cute - a redone motel with a hipster style and vibe. Good breakfast offering and easy drive to Smith’s campus and downtown (but not walkable IMO).

Bed was comfortable and all was clean. Main complaint was you could hear the upstairs room and people outside the door. Very little soundproofing. Would recommend a second floor room if at all possible for this reason.

All in all a fine option, depending on your reason for visiting.

Positives: the room was clean, nicely decorated, loved having the fridge in the room. Very cute place with a cool vibe and breakfast was good..the coffee was good! The note on the bed welcoming us was sweet ..
Negatives: the young man that checked us in said what seemed like a script and talked really fast so we had to ask him questions to understand what he said ...the floors in the hallway were creaky so we were woken up early with people walking by our room ..maybe a carpet in the hallway may be helpful for noise absorption... my husband got up at 8 am and took a shower and had hot water ..I waited until 10am to shower and didn't have any hot water so I couldn't shower ...no one was at the desk when we checked out for me to tell but I told someone in the breakfast ..she didn't seem to care she said \"I'll tell them\" overall nice hotel but was disappointed with the lack of hot water and that we were not able to check in early

The room was cold and drafty - the door needs weather-stripping. The heater blows cold as well as hot with the heat on.
The photos of the lounge show a lovely fire but we didn't know that the staff will only light a fire in the mornings (safety issue with embers not being cold by the time staff leaves for the evening at 8). Fair enough although misleading - everyone sitting in the lounge was disappointed not to have a fire in the afternoon. We were told at 4 we could not have a fire. It was below zero outside windchill and the room was chilly - could the staff instead have brought in a space heater or two?
Not the visit we had hoped.

Each visit, I've found the rooms, bed and bath clean and comfortable. The breakfast options are very thoughtful and help me start the day well. The staff at check in and check out are kind and attentive. It is nice to enjoy time by a fireplace, and the occasional puzzle at a table is a fun touch.

Room was spotless and comfortable.Reception desk personnel explained hotel policy and procedure for re-entering the hotel after a certain time. The lounge area was comfortable for sitting and enjoying the Continental breakfast. Stayed only the one night but the Ellery would be our choice for any future stays.

The lobby and breakfast area are very quaint, with large fireplace to keep you toasty in the morning! Room was quite spacious with two queen beds. A bit sparsely decorated, and maybe could use a larger rug, especially in winter time, but very comfortable beds.

This is one of my favorite places to stay! I came in late, but you can still make a cup of tea and grab a chocolate chip cookie. It’s quiet, comfortable and immaculate. The continental breakfast has numerous healthy choices and always a selection of baked goods. There is an excellent selection of organic teas and various juices. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I’m sure it’s wonderful as well.

Everything was great except for the fact that I could not leave my dog in the room AT ALL. This should have been disclosed on the website house rules section. Learning about this at check in time can make for an unpleasant experience - especially since I purposely booked this Inn because it was listed as a pet friendly Inn. My business dinner plans were scrapped because of this. To charge a guest disturbance fee seems ridiculous, in my opinion. Most sensible pet owner guests will only leave their pet alone for an hour or so to get dinner. I most certainly would have booked elsewhere if this information was listed on the website.

Great hotel for a family weekend trip

Lovely staff and great for families. Guest rooms are a little tired and the bathrooms could use renovations - clean but very tired. Lobby was a great spot to hang and meet other guests, snacks and breakfast were great.

We were in one of the downstairs outside entrance rooms, which was very reminiscent of an old motor inn. if you like being able to park right outside your door, that’s a big bonus however, the walls and the design of the hotel offered no sound protection, and we heard people going upstairs & up stairs neighbors constantly. The inn is old room was slightly updated, some mold in the bathroom, but overall pretty clean — upgraded bath products. If you are short or have mobility problems, the beds are higher than average, typical of old New England. They also have a wide sideboard so they’re not particularly easy to get in and out of. We have stayed at The Ellery before and the upstairs rooms were actually worse.

Most of the staff was very pleasant. I arrived early in the day because I drove all night to take a relative to the hospital. When I ask for a noon check in, I was told that would be an extra $50 because I booked through Expedia, but I only use Expedia because I booked the evening before. There is absolutely NO ONE the front desk from 8 PM to 8 AM, let alone somebody there to help with a reservation.

Stubborn, I refuse to pay $50 to check in 2 hours early when the room was sitting there empty, so my sick relative & I slept in the car in the parking lot. #classy. Having worked in hotels, early check-in are a pita, but they really don’t cost the hotel any extra and do a lot toward guest service. I was only there bc of the location. Marriott in Hadley is my preference.
