I’m 50 years old and this is the second worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life- I’ve traveled to many developing countries. Everything was simply gross and to top it off the tv and internet did not work. One positive- the exterior and staff were fine but this didn’t help with the actual accommodations and was actually misleading.

While the motel did not look like much of any of the pictures, especially the lobby, the staff was attentive and responsive and the room was spotless, allowing us a pleasant though somewhat overpriced stay, considering the accommodations. There was no ice and the ice machine looked like it hadn't worked in years.

The photograph to the left in no way represents what I saw at the Knight's Inn in Hadley, MA. I saw a dark, gloomy reception desk staffed by a polite and helpful couple who easily handled my check in. I saw NO indication of a breakfast nook reflected in this photograph, nor was I aware that there was a breakfast buffet or meal as depicted in the photo.

The room was nominally acceptable for what I needed. Bed and bath linens were clean and acceptable. However, the hot water for showers was not acceptable.The bedspread was aged, the pillows were clean but small, and the rooms in general looked like something out of the 1980 - the rooms need a desperate upgrade from the walls, capped plumbing, and worn wall edges.

Refrigerator and microwave were fully functional and used to keep drinks and leftover meals cold. Television was functional. Desk chair needs replacing, while other two room chairs were old and uncomfortable.

Further complicating my Saturday night stay was that occupants in the room adjacent to mine had a barking dog left behind while the occupants were out. I had returned from a day-long photo assignment at UMass, arriving back at my room at 6:45 p.m. The dog barked incessantly from my arrival until the occupants returned after 10 p.m. I reported the issue to the on-duty motel staff member around 8 p.m., and he said he'd contact the occupants, but if he called the room, they were out until 10 p.m.

It was NOT WORTH THE $423 for two nights.

This is clearly a woman owned business and for that reason I feel bad giving a poor review. However, the property is not well kept. Although it is really clear that the woman who apparently owns the hotel works very hard. I’m not sure what the husband does. Things need to be painted and repaired. There is a lot of chipped paint. There are some kind of strange holes in the walls. They seem to spare every expense.

The sheets are downright rough. They put three bars of soap in the bathroom, but no shampoo and conditioner despite the listing states. The parking lot practically has tumbleweeds in it. The television times out every half hour and has to be rebooted. The first room they put me in, had a broken safety latch and they gave me another room that had a safety latch, but the conditions were no better.

In addition, there were no screens on the windows so I couldn’t even get in the air. The whole building feels completely stuffy like you’re almost inside a dryer vent. I can’t believe I spent $144 to spend the night on a lumpy bed with such low quality linen. There’s also a really strong chemical smell to the place and I’m not 100% confident that I didn’t bring critters home with me.

The only reason anyone should ever stay here is if they are forced to.

It is my opinion that the man of that business needs to lift a finger. The woman seems to do all the work. She was very sweet to me and I feel bad like I said leaving a negative review but she can’t do everything.

Convenient, no frills, more affordable than other hotels in area! Especially at last minute. I like that doors to the rooms are on inside of building... not the usual 'motel' type. Reception was friendly and easy. Sheets were pressed. Nice soap. Strong, hot water. Super basics.

While I knew this was a lower budget motel, my expectations were not even met. When I opened the door to the room a horrible smell came out - strong mildewy dank smell. By morning it almost had a sewage smell to it. The room was hot and stuffy, so I rutned on the AC - but in order to get AC you couldn't have the blinds closed because they closed over it. With the windows open I was on the ground floor looking directly onto the driveway of an oil change place and it's spotlight shown right in my window. I flushed the toilet once - and it ran and ran, I tried jiggling the handle to no avail, and eventually took the top off the back to fix it and found it was an ancient and barely functional inside. I adjusted the cap to stop the running and from there on in it just wouldn't flush at all. I'd asked for a one queen room, got 2 - fine - but both were hard as plywood. There was a refrigerator, which I need for medication, however when I got up in the morning everything I'd put in it was frozen solid, wasting almost $200 of medication. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, but I couldn't wait to go in the morning. I went to the door to check out but no one opened it (lobby closed due to COVID-19 - I was checked in standing outside). I called one of the three numbers on the door to at least say I was leaving (I had already paid) but there was never an answer or answering machine. I wish I'd spent the extra $20-$30 and gotten something at least decent.

The Travelocity reservation was fine, the desk clerk didn't know how to deal with it. Getting to the room, it was 62 degrees, two of the lights wouldn't light. When I went to breakfast at 7:30 there was none out on the table. I wasn't expecting much for the price, but was even more disappointed. I have traveled extensively, often on a tight budget, but this was humble.

Staff were very friendly, and put in the extra effort to make sure I got what I needed from my stay. The room was set up nicely, though it was a little outdated, and there were some repairs that were needed- things like a chipped sink, a rip in the comforter. These didn't affect my stay, which was pleasant and comfortable.

After I checked in on Monday 8/26/19 at Knight Inn Hadley, I was given Room No. 114. When I entered the room, there is a bad smell from old carpet, bed supplies and uncleanliness which renters normally get good smell from other Inns or Motels.

The owners were so very kind, I hate writing a negative review however this place was a dump. The special price was $144 which was an embarrassment for a hotel of this quality. I travel over 200 days a year from my job and this was by far the worst hotel I’ve had all season.

Cleaning Improvements needed

We had a quick stay but unfortunately the hotel is not well kept. The rooms are not clean be it the sheets, the ironing board with stains on it, the dust accumulating in the fans and ACs or the overall smell of the room and hallways. The pool does look clean though.

For the price I was not expecting a Hilton but a little maintenance would go a long way to making me want to go back there when I visit in a few months.

Cockroaches at the knights inn

This was not our first time staying at this knights inn however this was the worst. We used hotel.com for the first night and then paid on site for the second.
The front desk help is always rude and ask like there being bothered. The room was not the best the pillows were flat and the beds not so comfortable. We were not even there for 20 min when we found a cockroach in our bathroom. We brought it down to the front to be told that it was not a roach and they have exterminators monthly and or that we must of brought it. I left the dead bug with them and went back to only find another one. The staff was rude and unhelpful the hotel smells funny and is not the cleanest or most comfy.
However I have never seen a roach let alone two in a hotel room.

I did not stay. I had to find other accommodations the place smell and had below accept standards for a weekend getaway. I was unable to get a refund and I was unable to reach Expedia. I ended paying for the first night for a hotel I did not stay. You cannot trust the pics when making a decision online. Not sure I will try to make travel arrangements in this manner again.

Good location. Not the best of amenities. Affordable if staying alone. Not family friendly.

At check in family was given a smoking room. Since I was travelling alone offered my non smoking room to family. Find it hard to believe that motels or even hotels still offer smoking rooms.

Front desk staff very friendly and accommodating for me as well as other family that checked into motel.

Motel needs a few more amenities and might be able to increase their revenue too. They have a great location to survive.

The problems started at check in when the front desk had given away the original room that we requested so they could not find our reservation. After barely acknowledging us or the problem, we were handed keys and looked at like we should be grateful that the reservation had been located. No apology. We arrived in the room that smelled like rotten apple juice and was completely dated. After a use of the restroom, the toilet clogged. We called the front desk and the same woman who checked us in showed up with a plunger. She attempted to hand it to me and said \"Use the plunger\". I said \"Excuse me?\" She replied \" You can't do it?\" I said no and she rolled her eyes, walked in and plunged the toilet. After I watched her unclog it, she said \"It wasn't clogged\", proceeded to drip toilet water on the floor and walked out of the room. The only reason we did not leave is because we were 2 hours from home and there were no other hotels available in the area. We will NEVER stay in the hotel again.

It was not clear that there were smoking and non-smoking rooms. I booked a smoking room without realizing it, and the room was dirty and obviously smelled like cigarettes, and there were flies. When we complained, we were offered a non-smoking room and that one was definitely better. However, based on the website and the price we paid, we expected a higher-class room. The website also said breakfast was included in the cost. Breakfast consisted of toast and coffee. Very disappointing.

Filthy Dirty, Uncomfortable AND Overpriced

I paid a HUGE amount of money for one night in this absolute dump. The mattress pad was FILTHY and stained with mysterious stains. There was a board stuck under the mattress to keep the bed from falling apart. The sheets were dirty, the bedspread was dirty, and the pillow is flat and smells bad. There were empty soda bottles stuck between the bed and the wall. The bathroom looked like a science experiment with mold growing in the tub and on the tile. Carpets filthy too. It was, by far, one of the most disgusting motels I've ever stayed at. It's just nauseating. This place was ridiculously expensive, filthy dirty, and I will never stay there again.

We stayed here on our way home from a long trip through Canada. It was clean although there were food smells throughout the place. Pillows were flat. Glad I brought my own pillow. Also the towels were so small and rough to the touch. Overall if you need a clean place to stay it will work. No atmosphere.

Temp 99 degrees we checked in n that night found out AC on a timer all night no sleep it would get terribly hot n then AC would switch on for a little while n then switch off again
We stayed for two nights went on a day trip
Came back n found out maid only empty trash beds not made no fresh shampoo or soaps in room. Continental breakfast AWFUL old muffins n 1/2 bottle of juice n coffee we spit out. Tables by pool were filthy I went out with antiseptic towels n wiped the tables down. I will never stay there again.

Needed an overnite near UMass

We needed a reasonably priced overnite for student orientation. Knights Inn filled the need. It is basic, and somewhat dated, but most importantly it was clean and the bed was comfortable. That is all that we needed. Owners were pleasant and it is clear they are working hard to run a decent business.

The hotel was close to UMass, but not right with all the busy shopping and restaurants. That made it nice and quiet, and just a short drive to dinner. The room was basic, but found the sheets to be extremely soft and the bed very comfortable. I would stay again if my son decides to go to UMass. The only downside was the wifi went out in the evening and could not get reconnected. Breakfast was only bagels, juice and coffee.

My first stay in a Knights Inn property.

Much better than expected. A pleasant hotel with all lights and appliances in good working order. I was allowed to check in at noon, which was an unexpected and very useful as I had to drive past the hotel for a 4 pm meeting. It was also less expensive than any other similar hotel in the Hadley-Amherst area.

Spent a overnight when moving my daughter into college the next day. Room was clean as well as beds. One bed had new pillows other bed pillows were way past prime. Even though we identified that we had 3 occupants on the reservation we only had two bath towels. When I asked for covers for the beds the front desk said o have some bed spreads but no covers. Price was cheap, it was a smoking room but no covers and only two towels. Avg at best is what I would say. Other alternatives in the area make this place a third choice next time around.

For $79 a night we were not expecting the Ritz Carlton, so we were happy with our stay. From reading previous reviews we knew to bring our own pillows which we did, and I would recommend that to others. The pillows supplied are quite thin and 2 per queen bed. The bed was fairly firm which is not usually what I prefer, but I slept fine. The water pressure in the shower was a tad drizzly but hot which was appreciated. There were dogs in a room next door that barked when we came in, but we heard nothing else from them after that, so no problems there. We checked in rather late, about 11pm, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We needed a warm bed for the night (11p-8a) and they delivered.

The only negative that I would recommend they fix is the outside entrance door needs to be locked so that a key swipe is required to enter.

My needs were met. A clean place to sleep at night. No problems with the room, staff or other guests. Toilet was leaning and water drips.

Walls were very thin, people in next room were using normal speaking voices and it was still loud.

Broken drawer handle, toilet cover, cover sheet. Old, not-well kept hotel. $100 max could be paid/night. Breakfast: bagel, orange juice, coffee and muffin.

Bedding OK, pillows where inexpensive and uncomfortable. Bring your own if you are fussy. Air conditioner was sleep-deprivingly-noisey. Space was sufficient for 2x queens, and the three of us fit in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location convenient to shopping, Amherst or Northhampton.

This was a one night stay for a wedding in the local area. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. Pillows were a bit on the flat side for me, could have used another one for better sleep. Bathroom was clean. Service was friendly. Back door entrance to the hotel has no locking device so anyone could come in, that should be changed, also more lighting should be added for better security in the back parking lot. Did not get to use the pool but it looked very clean. Continental breakfast was just that, muffins, bagels, coffee and tea don't expect anything more. Overall good clean motel with a reasonable price, would use again if I am in the area and need a place to stay.

WONT STAY HERE AGAIN.

ROOMS WERE DINGY AND HAD ODORS. BREAKFAST WAS PITIFUL...STALE MUFFINS AND FRONT DESK WASN'T EVEN AWAKE AND DIDN'T HAVE COFFEE IN THE AM. AC IN ONE OF OUR ROOMS WAS FREEZING AND IN THE OTHER IT KEPT GOING OFF....SO ROOM WAS WARM...NEW PAINT, BUT DISGUSTING COLORS!.....FOR WHAT WE PAID, WE DEFINATELY GOT ROBBED. WONT STAY HERE AGAIN.
