Everything here was awesome from the room to the staff to the food to the free coffee and apple cider donuts in the lobby! Check in was pleasant and efficient and the inn was so idilic, very large and clean with very comfortable beds and nice fluffy towels and such a nice quant sitting area in lobby, also quite large with a roaring fire. Breakfast was amazing, French toast was some of the best ever had. We enjoyed our time here so very much.

Parking was well-organized with clear instructions and a provided pass, though it was quite a walk back from the lot. A 10-minute loading zone in front of the Inn made unloading luggage easy. Our room was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, with an air purifier added for my allergies and scent-free bedding exactly as requested. Both the linens and mattress were excellent, though the bed frame was noisy enough to make sleeping difficult.
The evening experience was wonderful — the gentleman at check-in made us feel genuinely cared for, our dinner server was attentive, and the bartender created a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
The next morning, however, the tone shifted dramatically. The staff seemed disengaged and borderline rude, which was disappointing after such a warm evening. It felt as though the A-team handles dinner and events while mornings are left to whoever’s available.
The Inn itself is beautiful, and with consistency in hospitality, it could easily be a five-star destination. We’re only an hour away and often visit Amherst and Northampton — I truly wish the morning had matched the evening’s grace, as we’d love to return often.

May I Live Here?
The Inn on Boltwood came highly recommended by a friend who teaches at Amherst. It did not disappoint. I've traveled a lot and stayed at many hotels, but I've never wanted to just live in one before. The Inn is immaculate and beautiful. The staff were friendly, kind, and welcoming. Malina, knowing I was there to visit the Emily Dickinson museum in honor of my retirement from teaching English for 46 years, gave me a book of Emily's poetry and a bookmark when I arrived. I was thrilled and so surprised. The food in the restaurant was incredible. It was delicious and I could not even finish it all. Amherst was my favorite place on this trip and I'd love to see it in the snow. It would be worth flying across the country from Idaho again just to stay at the Inn on Boltwood.

Really great staff on the front desk, the bartender, Tom was excellent, Adam the server in the restaurant was a super star. The location is amazing as was all the areas to hang out around the property were fun and comfortable. We had dinner also at the restaurant, (we actually had 3 meals) and the filet was cooked to perfection! We loved the food…. Unfortunately, Devron, our waiter for dinner was lacking and probably shouldn’t be in this vocation! Not the best for such an amazing location and everyone was great except the aforementioned waiter. The place is a gem! We’ll be back to stay!

Beautiful historic building but updated with all the amenities of a high-end hotel. Staff is extremely helpful. Restaurant has delicious food and many seating options, including outdoor (with fire pits when chilly), bar and tables. Rooms are not large but very comfortable, and ours had a working gas fireplace. We had a corner room so a nice view of the inn’s patio and gardens. We will definitely stay there again!

Check in was good. Front desk staff were very friendly. The hotel itself could use an update. I can directly compare this hotel to Amherst College's rival premiere hotel, The Williams Inn. The \"old\" Williams Inn was left behind and brand new hotel was built from the ground up with all the modern updates and comforts that you'd desire. This hotel, Inn on Boltwood, felt pretty outdated. The walls / ceiling in our suite had peeling paint and ants all over the floor. The elevator is a tiny throwback elevator that can barely fit 3 people with full size luggage. Quaint is nice sometimes, but a fresh coat of paint, ant removal and some modern upgrades would go a long way to keep quaint alive!

they didnt have my reservation active (i suppose they don't update the info with expedia because they didnt have the reservation i required, but had some previous canceled ones), and gave me a queen bed instead of a king bed i had on my expedia active reservation. they told me i needed to pay to cancel my canceled reservations. on the next day, they didnt even told me but recognized the big mistake.

We really loved our stay in Inn on Boltwood. Everybody was super friendly and helpful. The building has this historic charm that transpires to the room decor as well. The place is clean and it is located in centralized location that is near restaurants and Amherst college.
