I wasn't expecting a lot from this property given it was so cheap. It met my expectations in that it was a simple, clean place to stay for a night. What was unexpected was a noise like a chainsaw coming from - I think - the bathroom when someone was using the shower. Things were a little chaotic leaving and collecting my luggage but the staff were helpful. Ok for a night but wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer.

Quiet property within a quiet neighbourhood. It's a short walk to the train station where you can connect easily to other towns and cities across The Netherlands. Clean bathroom and sleeping quarters. Would recommend staying here as the base for sleeping and then using the train station for exploring other areas.

The place exceeded our expectations. Lawrence is a first class host. The place is really quirky and well worth the money. Leeuwarden is just a fantastic base in the north of the country and we made a visit to one of the Wadden Islands with a two hour ferry journey which was splendid.

I stayed at the Anker a few times after my apartment was sold. Not only was it the most economical option for private rooms in Leeuwarden, but also for all of Nederland. Amenities vary by room type, but had a good stay in all the room types I tried. Excellent location in the center of Ljouwert.

Room was really warm, which was strange as it was only 26 degrees outside. Hotel is old and appears not upgrades for over 25 Years. Noisy in the sense that you hear and feel people walking in the hallway or adjecent rooms. Breakfast was ok for the price we paid (5 euro per person).

This a charming place in an excellent location in an historic building, but obviously old and in rather run-down condition. The beds were good. Some simple things could make it better - like glasses in the bathroom. The room itself is charmless and I was afraid the windows might fall out when I opened them. One stays in this hotel to be in the middle of things and not to spend much time in one's room. As always in historic Dutch hotels - the steep stairs are awkward to negotiate with heavy suitcases.

Superb stay yet again.

Stayed here now on numerous occasions, rooms are great, clean tidy and a comfy bed, not much more you can ask for. Right in the heart of Leeuwarden with lots of bars nearby should you feel the need to venture out, food and beer in the bar itself is superb. Cant recommend this place enough.

Great Location; though a 'worn' hotel

Great location. Not so clean and it is worn. So value for quality was not good.
Hotel was closed when we arrived (11:00 am); although note on door said they were open. Also could not reach via phone. Very basic breakfast, which is ok. However, the breakfast was not managed well; ran out of bread, croissants, etc. I had to look around to find the staff - they were sitting down eating bread and croissants!! And they were a bit put off that they had to re-stock the breakfast. Again, location was very good.

The Hotel ‘t Anker is in a wonderful location in downtown Leeuwarden. The accommodation was very basic but very comfortable, and great value for the price. The staff were friendly and competent and provided safe, locked storage for bicycles – an important service!

When we booked this hotel we reserved two triple rooms because that was all that was available. I was traveling alone with three children. When we arrived we were given one triple room and one single room. This was not what we reserved. We requested a partial refund, but were denied. According to the website, there is a $40 difference in the cost of a single room and the amount we paid for a triple. Yet, when we requested a refund they said all the rooms cost the same.

To make matters worse the rooms were on the opposite side of the hotel, which meant I had to put my oldest child (a teenage girl) in a room by herself in a room far away. The only way to get between the rooms was to go through a dark bar. There is no security door between the bar and the hallways that lead to the hotel rooms. This is a very bad arrangement, but particularly when a family is split up.

The hotel rooms were quite old and the rooms were very noisy. It was hot and we had to sleep with the windows open. My kids received big bites all over their arms and legs.

I do not recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

It's cheap

The service was nice, and there was breakfast provided, which was okay-ish. There are several things that can be provided to you if you ask (at least according to the brochure I had in my room), from an umbrella to packed lunch. Wi-Fi was good enough. The hotel is in a very good localization, and there is a bar in the same building, with pool and other entertainment.

Unfortunately, the room wasn't particularly nice, and bathrooms are separate from the rooms. The door to the room with the shower wouldn't lock! The air inside was also a little stale.

Overall, I can't recommend this place unless you need the cheapest possible. For what it costs, it probably provides fair conditions.

Hier werde ich nie wieder übernachten!

Kein Parkplatz trotz Hinweis auf der Unterkunftseite - dann hätte ich nicht gebucht. Musste den Wagen in einer öffentlichen parkgarage abstellen, voll mit dem Gepäck. Und am noch 10 Minuten laufen.
Zimmer direkt neben dem Gasthaus.
Meine Bitte um 10 Minuten früheres Frühstück, das erst um acht Uhr!! angeboten wird, wurde abgelehnt, ginge nicht. Ich war einfach 7.50 Uhr da - und alles war fertig.
Defekte Kaffeemaschine, kümmerliches Frühstück und das für satte 80€.
Nie wieder!

El hotel está muy bien situado. Es antiguo en general, con suelos de moqueta, aunque los baños y duchas parecen bastante nuevos.
Las escaleras de acceso a las plantas superiores estrechas y empinadas. El desayuno es correcto y tipo buffet, aunque se hecha en falta una tostadora y leche caliente para echar al café. El personal amable y diligente.

Ett supermysigt hotell med sköna sängar. Ett hotell i äldre stuk och utan hiss, men den gamla och mysiga trappan hade bra räcken att hålla i för den som behövde det. Vi var 3 personer i ett rum med möjlighet till 5 bäddar, det fanns solar och ett bord i mitten där det vem fanns tv. Tydlig information om var allt hittades på hotellet, och hur vi kunde göra om vi behövde hjälp när receptionen inte var bemannad. Incheck klockan 13 som inte rubbades på, med möjlighet till 15 minuters parkering precis utanför. Läste på innan att parkeringsmöjlighet fanns, men att de rekommenderade förbokning av plats. Vilket vi gjorde, vilket var tur då deras platser är begränsade. Kommer du med bil och inte bokat innan, så får du garanterat står en bra bit ifrån hotellet då inga offentliga fanns i direkt närhet. Ett mysigt och trevligt hotell som jag absolut kan rekommendera, iallafall till den som inte 'måste ha' frukostbuffe då den bestod av mackor, yoghurt med granola, samt kaffe, the och juice.

Te klein toilet. (Niet voldoende ruimte voor de benen)
Vloerbedekking versleten.
Goede matrassen. Veel te kleine en te dunne dekbedjes.
Weinig waterdruk op deze bovenste verdieping in de douche. Daar is geen plankje om douchespullen op te zetten.
Leuning vd bovenste trap zit los.
Het ontbijt was helaas géén buffet zoals op de site staat. Het brood was droog en zelfs beschimmeld.

In die Straße vom Hotel darf man nicht reinfahren wenn man nicht angemeldet ist.
