We arrived here on a Tuesday and were worried to find out that 2 of their restaurants only open Friday-Sunday. It was very quiet and not many people. However, this place really worked its charm on us and by the time we left we were already planning our next visit back. There’s a real authenticity about this place. It’s located in a residential complex with exceptional pools that are never crowded. The food and cocktails are made to a high standard. The beach is relaxing and clean. It’s just so peaceful here. We didnt want a fake sterile experience with lots of tourists like you might find at other resorts. This is truly a hidden gem. Highly recommend

Beautiful hotel complex. The pictures don't do it justice in terms of how spacious and well designed/ kept the property is. The beach is a fairly decent walk from the hotel- about 10minutes. It's a nice walk but something to know if you think it's going to be on your doorstep. Lots of beautiful restaurants. Pools were great, esp with young kids as there were shallow areas in all 3 of the pools. Lovely breakfast. The chief concierge was really helpful and accommodating with our requests, eg for late check out. The beach is lovely- clean and relaxed. Lovely palm trees, lots of loungers and space to sit. The horse riding complex was an extra bonus- we took our 3yr old for a ride which he loved. Watch out for the new suites if you're getting an apartment- they don't have a kitchen in them (despite being very large and decked out in high end decor and fittings). They are really nicely done but missing a few helpful amenities (e.g. washer/dryer, sink in the dining area where you'd expect the kitchenette to be). The older apartment suites have much better amenities although are a bit less fancy and newly decorated.

The first room we were in was not great. We asked to be switched. We had a view of a wall on ground level, the bathroom sink wasn’t draining and at 9:30 am there was very loud drilling in the room next door and because we were directly behind the check in desk, there was a lot of lobby noise. The 2nd room on a higher floor was fantastic. The restaurant service however was pretty poor. We waited so long to be tended to almost every time even when there were very few others dining and food was very slow to come out. The food was only mediocre. The facilities and property were beautiful and felt very safe, however we found restaurants closed at strange times and there was no overall guide explaining the hours of each. Generally we spent more time walking around confused than enjoying our meals.

We had a wonderful stay! The service was excellent, the food absolutely delicious, and the beach simply gorgeous. The resort felt private, peaceful, and very safe which made it perfect for a family getaway. Our kids loved every moment. Highly recommended!

Hotel Hemingway was a beautiful place, short walk across the street to their sister property Club Hemingway with access to the beach and short walk to an excellent Argentinian restaurant called Paladart. Service was excellent from the gentleman at front desk (sorry I forgot his name).
There is some construction on a sidewalk in between the hotel but they were done by 5ish.

The perfect peaceful, idyllic beach holiday

An amazing place, idyllic beach with plenty of pools and a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The room (more like an apartment) was great, very clean and lovely cleaning staff who put extra effort in.
The restaurants are quite expensive and probably not worth the price, but there are enough other options within a 5 minute walk, so this isn’t a problem.
The hotel grounds and beach are beautiful. We spent most days just going between the beach, sea and pool and still miss it weeks after leaving. Wish we were back there.
The extra activities like horse riding and sports facilities weren’t explained to us, but maybe they’d be available if you ask about them.
Plus there are some lovely cats and kittens wandering about who are very affectionate if you’re kind to them!

The size of the suites were amazing In the balcony was absolutely beautiful! The patio furniture on the balcony might need a little bit more attention from the cleaning staff and providing a few more towels to the room. Everything else was absolutely spectacular. The king size bed was so comfortable including the bedding and pillows. I would definitely recommend this place. A few more vegetarian options would be great for breakfast but overall it was absolutely delicious. The cleaning stuff was very friendly.

I thought the property was nice, but not necessarily reflective of the price. A little further away from the beach than I thought. Breakfasts and meals were good. Grounds were well kept and enjoyable. Mattress was way too soft for my liking and probably my most negative experience. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Good to stay at, not as much to eat at...

Nice hotel, nice location, great beach and friendly service! Only I'd recommend eating elsewhere, except El Embarcadero but all other restaurants (La Trattoria, Gaspar) leave much to be desired yet prices are hefty.
Breakfast could use improvement too.

La comida es pésima, el servicio al cliente horrible. Recomendado para dormir cómodamente en hab limpias y utilizar las instalaciones y salir a comer a restaurantes cercanos. Dicen que es PET frendlly pero tienen tantas restricciones para las mascotas que realmente es mejor que no sean acogidas.
Para volver al hotel es preferible rentar un departamento.

We spent two nights at Casa Hemingway. On arrival, our prearranged and honestly quite expensive transportation was not at the airport. I called the hotel and after waiting for the desk clerk to research, she informed me that our ride would be there is 30 minutes. 40 minutes later our ride arrived. He was very kind and we arrived safely. On checking in, we were given pointing directions where restaurants were. I later went out and asked for a map which I was then given. We also had to request bedding for our third guest. We did have a couple frustrations:
1. There were only two bottles of water for three people in the fridge and when we asked for more, we were charged for this.
2. We had family staying down the road so would have loved to share a meal or swim with them and were told that would cost $50 each. This was really disappointing as we were graciously welcomed into their facility.
3. We were charged for breakfast when I distinctly recall checking the box on payment from Hotels.com for breakfast. This was embarrassing as we were walking out and chased down by the waiter when we thought it was included.

Overall, I would say the stay was adequate and a unique experience. For the price, I would likely stay somewhere else or rent a condo on return as we truly lived the area and the people. The food, beach and pools were excellent! The restaurant we went to had excellent food and very friendly and attentive staff despite being very busy!

A hidden gem in Juan Dolio. It’s across the street from the beach in a very quiet and secluded area. Beautiful gardens, very spacious and clean rooms. Many great amenities a short stroll away, gym, church, restaurants, pool and private beach.

This property is in dire need of remodeling, the facility is very old, nothing seems to work, the free breakfast is horrible, the towels are very old and with a foul smell, the beach is a very very long walk through other buildings and streets, this place is use mostly by local tourists and some minor league baseball players and coaches that come for training at San Pedro de Macorís, please avoid at all cost. Hotels.com needs to reevaluate this property, it is not a four star property and very expensive for what you get

This Hotel is not a four star property by a long shot, the rooms are in dire need of remodeling, the hotel is a long walk from the beach, towels are very old and worn out and smelly. The beach is nice and clean and the Embarcadero restaurant has a nice menu. Hotels.com need to inspect this property and classify the same as a 3 star property at best. PS. Don’t try to charge anything to your room, room service is cash or credit cards on delivery

The Hotel overall very nice, at the time I visited (May) they were doing alot of construction upkeep. Two of the three dinning options were closed. There were still others available. Breakfast was great, make sure you can speak Spanish well.

Loved the colonial architecture, it reminds me of my childhood. Very safe, clean and beautiful property. Staff provided professional, friendly and helpful service. Elias was at the reception desk to help me check in and he is very knowledgeable and professional, I shared with him a bad experience I had in Punta Cana and he was very understanding about it and explained how safe the property was and how professional was the staff and he was not wrong. I walked to El Embarcadero Restaurante around 9PM and then back to the beach around 11PM, I also went to a local Bar past midnight by myself and I felt so safe. El Embarcadero was just amazing and unique, Jeffery was very knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks, friendly and respectful; the food was so fresh, flavorful and the atmosphere so relaxing that I got to enjoyed myself to the point I didn’t want the moment to end.
Next morning the sunrise was absolutely glorious and perfect, then I enjoyed breakfast at La Trattoria, the constituency and quality of the food and staff amazed me, as a chef myself this tells me of the strong team behind stage. Then probably my most favorite thing: the beach. It was just WOW clean and beautiful turquoise water, again food and service, this time at El Chiringuito, the red sangria was definitely my favorite cocktail.

One thing I did not appreciate was the ridiculous price of my ride to the airport, $70 dollars. I won’t use the facility transportation.

The front desk staff named Manuel it's very polite & respectful, he kindly helped me get an earlier check in. Some other staff may come by as a bit condescending, but since I may appear as a local that might of influenced the treatment. May main focus was finding a clean/safe beach after Karol G concert and I hit the jackpot. Although it is a bit retired from the resort the beach it's beautiful, clean and safe. Premises is very elegant, units are very cozy. Did not enjoyed food from restaurant, very Americanized price point and flavor lol.

This is the most beautiful most pleasant lodging in close proximity to Santo Domingo. The restaurant in the sea is beautiful, the food is exquisite and the service is superb. I want to give a shot out to the server by the name of Yefri who goes above and beyond with his service. The beach is beautiful, the pools. This establishments has eveythung you an think of for the utmost experience. From the moment you walk in- even the smell is exquisite. If you want the Jost exclusive service with private beaches and several pools, you must stay here!!!

From the moment you walk in you feel and smell the cleanliness of this place. Hotel Casa Hemingway is kept immaculate and so was the room I was in 201. You can see and feel how well the sheets are washed. I will definitely recommend this hotel you will not regret it. It is as nice or better than what it looks like in the pictures.

This is a really nice place to stay for a couple of days. The hotel itself has one restaurant and a pool, although the pool was out of service during our stay. The hotel is connected to Club Hemingway and it is beautiful. Food quality is good. There is limited service during the week. Overall, a very nice stay.

The beach was dirty. They started doing dredging work without letting people know that this kind of work was happening. We could not swim in the ocean because the water was very turbid and dirty because of the work being done. They should've let people know ahead of time. I wasted my money by not being able to swim in the ocean. During Weekdays, the dining options are very limited. Most of the restaurants are closed. The staff is not very friendly. They show their frustration with tourists
