I wasn’t happy when I checked in late to find out that they mixed up my booking for the next day, didn’t get an apologie and I ended up with a random room, dirty old bathroom, didn’t get any room service as making the bed or replacing the towels, nothing at all for the 4 days of my stay.
Not going back again.

Room was disgusting, cleanliness poor, the bed springs were broken, air conditioner dripping on my son’s bed so had to pull out from the wall, hair in the bathroom, cabinets rotted, the list goes on. The photos on Expedia don’t represent the property. I believe that there is an updated section which is better however not available in a family room for 4. The only upside of this stay was the restaurant and the restaurant manager was kind and accommodating.

The room especially the bathroom was filthy with hairs on the wall of the shower and a mouldy shower curtain.
Floor and shower mould and dirt.
The bin hadn't been emptied from previous people.
The fridge was all frozen up.
The TV did not work and I was advised to watch via demand however the internet wouldn't load.
The pool gate lock was broken which is of concern for children's safety. The spa pool was dirty with debris floating around.
I requested another room and was relocated to a room with A/C that didn't work properly, the fridge didn't work at all and had mould growing in it. The TV had same problem with internet connection. The bathroom was marginally cleaner.
This motel is in a state of disrepair and neglected.

We had a pleasant experience. Room was clean but kitchenette appliances need updating. Loved the pools, hot and tension relieving. Dinner at the restaurant was extremely good. Staff was helpful & friendly. Shout out to Ankur who was very courteous and professional.

Aircon directed straight onto bed so despite need it definitely wasn't user friendly as to minimise discomfort that caused was impossible as room was too hot without it. The bed or a/c outlet needs repositioning.

Safe, broken, no lock in bathroom, stayed eight days, room was serviced just once, everyday I asked for toilet paper, coffee, tea and whatever we need in the room as it's been serviced just once in 8 days of our stay, our only consolation is the pool, very quiet and clean.

This is not five Star, so do not expect it.

The old saying is that you get what you pay for. We have stayed here for at least three years. The inside pool was not as hot as it had been in the past. The rooms are comfortable, and a continental breakfast is a plus.
For those who rate this motel poorly, it's likely because they expect to be treated at a four-star level and are not willing to pay for it. So, you will be hard-pressed to find a Sheraton or Hilton in Moree.

Stayed here for the Spa pool which we have stayed many times before. The pool needs cleaning as it was green and slimy. The room compared to other visits is very disappointing, small and smelly, pillows were dirty with stains and should be thrown out just for starters. The bathroom was alive with mould and the shower hasn’t been properly cleaned in this room for years.
Very disappointing considering we have stayed here many times in the past for spa pools and most likely look elsewhere for our future visits.

Check in was just OK. NO information was forthcoming except i asked.
Room tiny, bathroom dirty and mouldy. Linen was probably the only highlight.
Artesian indoor pool was grotty - no way would i use it!

Initially we were in a room that had a problem in the bathroom/toilet. There was a bad rust streak down the wall from the taps, and water was seeping from the wall opposite the shower. This made a permanent puddle in front of the hand basin.
We reported this, and were moved to a very good alternative room.

we stayed for 2 nites in a family room. sat and waited in the check in area for 20 minutes with another couple until a really pleasant fellow arrived and check in was easy.we stayed in room 19 the beds were not comfortable only one bedside lamp had a bulb in it but neither worked there was a toaster microwave and jug but no plates or knives and forks.the outside patio table and chairs were very dusty and unusable.the artesian pools that we were looking forward to using were not hot. on our booking it says includes daily housekeeping which I assumed was making beds and tidy up the kitchenette area, obviously I was wrong as I asked the gentleman at the front desk if they do daily housekeeping and he said no. even if you had to wash up the dishes there was no tea towel provided.sorry for the bad review but I am very disappointed.

The Artesian pools are great.....

Stay here for the artesian pools. Our room was clean and large but does need some repair work. That wasn't why I chose this place though. They have 3 pools - 2 are artesian, one inside and one outside. The inside pool is great, very clean and you can just relax in the pool or spa and enjoy the treatment of the water. The outdoor pool was also lovely and the large 'normal' pool was great. The groundsman (who was awesome), was happy to stop the cleaning of this pool for me and pull all the gear out of it so that I could have a swim in each pool before we left :)

A very unpleasant end to our holiday.
We booked a basic room online for $122 and arrived shortly after 5pm on a Sunday night. The office was closed and the room keys had been left for us.
The exterior door step to our room was covered in dead caterpillars and there were plenty more of these on the carpet upon entering the room. The carpet was filthy and not vacuumed and there were multiple cobwebs around the room. The fridge was rusty. The shower, toilet and basin appeared clean however as did the sheets. The room was small, very rundown and poorly maintained. At that point we would have left and tried to get our money back but there was no sign of any staff and we had driven over eight hours already that day.
A couple arriving the same time we did were similarly unimpressed. Their daughter had booked them in for five nights but they said they would be returning to Sydney in the morning - “we don’t care about the money”.
The property grounds had rubbish, sheets, old furniture and other miscellaneous items littered about and appeared dirty and unkempt. A room with sheets stored was wide open (including to insects). After looking at the pools we abandoned our plan to go for a swim. I recommended the aquatic centre instead to the other couple.
We couldn’t get out of there fast enough and left at 5am the next morning. We’ve stayed at countless motels in the $90 - $130 bracket, this would rank in the bottom three.
All the positive reviews - ?? not sure where they stayed.

Better Than Expected

This is a courtyard motel with plenty of parking, close to the town centre. Reception agreed to an early check-in on Christmas Day. Our spacious riverside room, had everything we needed, efficient air conditioning, TV, wifi, kettle, frig, safe, comfortable bed, bedside tables and lamps, breakfast table and two chairs. The bathroom also had plenty of space, was clean and well ventilated.

The spa pools are a big attraction and one of us enjoyed a pleasant half hour in the waters. Ours was a family and friends Christmas visit so we didn’t take advantage of the free continental breakfast or eat any other meals at the restaurant.

The only downside is that our room, while clean and adequate, is showing signs of wear and tear and could be improved by a refurb.

We optioned to a higher grade room which was basically very good.
My usual gripe is with housekeeping, and this one took the cake.
The only things done were the beds were made and a new bin liner fitted.
The room had not been cleaned and no new towels (only 2 dirty bath & hand towels).
My Husband saw the Manager to ask for clean towels and told that the room had not been cleaned. He replied that the cleaners had sick kids.
The kitchen had something disgusting in the sink ( 3 large gelatinous globs).
The bathroom had no soap, shampoo or conditioner - but plenty of soap residue on the basin and fluff balls around the floor.
No vanity plug. No liner in bathroom bin (just 3 pieces of bin spread out on floor).
A very dead cockroach between shower & vanity (definitely more than a couple of days old).
The overall property is in better condition than when we stayed a few years ago, but, as I say - housekeeping lets a lot of places down.

Stayed 11 years ago with positive results. Thought it would be okay to stay this time. Stayed in the dated room that had had a basic upgrade to a poor standard. Bed was good, a second pillow would be nice, linen and towels were in very good condition, thank you. Attention to detail for cleaning would benefit. Beer bottles and cigarette butts were left from previous customer on back porch table. Informed reception - he rolled his eyes. Rubbish was removed upon our return however table wasn’t wiped down.
Restaurant presents well. Lighting in tree was great - saw a possum. Service and food was poor. 25 minute wait between my meal being served and my husbands meal being served with no communication from wait staff, when his meal did arrive, the steak was rare not medium, drowned in gravy and tough to chew, not representing the $49 price-tag. Not apposed to paying city prices providing the quality is there.
Overall experience was poor for the price.
Convenient to town centre. Pools were accessible and pleasant some extra cleaning and gardening would upgrade the experience (the bindis in the grass- with bare feet are not fun). Courtesy swim towel offered by reception was damp when collected. Property has potential, needs stronger management. We stayed at the other end of town August 2023, where I got superior facilities and service for the same price there. I will not stay ant the Artesian Spa motel again.

Do not take the cheaper rooms; you will regret it. The breakfast is basic continental, definitely not European style. Then you pay for what you get, and it is adequate. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are better in the mid-price range and up.

The bed was really comfortable and was the best feature of the room. The TV was small and hard to see details when in bed. The new security door was a great addition. The Kitchenette was a disappointment due to ad-hoc crockery and utensils. One teaspoon and a couple of forks and one large plate and a couple of smaller ones plus a few mugs and several wine glasses. The greatest letdown was the hot Thermal pool which used to be around 43 degrees and now about 37. I went for the heat and was robbed.

Bad points - my credit card was charged even though I had nominated to pay at property- no apology was given - I even copped a surcharge for use of it!
Room for the price was not great - heater did not work well, bedside light did not work, ‘free’ internet did not work, no tissues provided, no shower screen or curtain for shower- would rate it as 2 star. Am at another motel tonight less than 1/2 the price but ALL of the above work and provided.

Our stay on friday the 19th april 2024 was very disappointing! Firstly the motel advertised a restaurant, this was closed due to not opening for a month, and we didn't sleep for one minute due to the security alarm going off every half an hour. We were driving from Bathurst to Ipswich and relied on a good sleep this we didnt have! Felt extremely upset and fatigued on our 4:30am departure thismorning. #Not happy# will not return nor recommend.

The pools were the only good thing about this motel, although the bed was comfortable. The building was very unattractive from the outside. Maintenance and repairs in our room were terrible. Lots of cracks and crazing in the bathroom and various repairs had obviously been done by an unskilled amateur. Screen door was very difficult to open and the lock was broken. The sofa had clearly not been vacuumed - there was grit all over it. There was no milk in the fridge. There was a toaster but no plates or cutlery. The so-called river view comprised an area with a fallen down pump shed and a broken fence. $189 was an absolute rip-off.

Lovely hot pools, rooms okay - poor management

The Artesian Basin hot pools were great - there is also a cold pool - all lovely. Room quality was variable some quite good and comfortable others pretty basic. However we had a real problem with mansgement. The staff couldn’t find our booking for a second room so we booked and paid for another second room separate to our Hotels.com booking. The second Hotels.com booking was later found after we had checked into and paid for the other room. Management wanted us to pay for this room too and had already in fact charged us for one night in this room.
So we had paid for 3 rooms when we only ever booked two and were only using two. Hotels.com were excellent in helping to negotiate a resolution - which was ultimately only partially successful.

This property is probably 2.5 stars because the rooms are too small and the standard of maintenance evidenced by repairs on towel rails etc is very poor, reflecting an unwillingness of owners to invest in the upkeep of the property. The artesian pools were a pleasant surprise and surprisingly well maintained. Overpriced for this standard of accommodations.

It's unfortunate they had a fire last year the destroyed the dinning facility but it looks like progress is on the way for a fresh new space
The room on the other hand are in need of some TLC

The BED is soft some say too soft I felt like I dropped 6 inches when I lay on it woke up with a sore back

Curtain didn't reach the floor so light comes in when closed
Pay extra for river view over the courtyard view the only view I had was a broken fence and 3 old hot water units

The room was clean and fresh - quite small but perfect for the overnight stay we were there for. Comfy bed. No road traffic noise at all. Aircon struggled a little but was fine after a few minutes. Staff very friendly and helpful (I also had an after-hours check-in).

Mostly - the thermal pools at this place are amazing and make this place a must stay - just be mindful this motel has been around for quite some time offering this amazing experience, so you will get an “older” traditional small country-style motel room with the experience ❤️

Time for a facelift

The motel is in a convenient, quiet location.
We stayed in Studio King Rooms at the back of the motel. Rooms were clean but quite worn. The shower head and pillows, in particular, are in urgent need of replacement. At over $200 a night per room they are not good value, however, the Gwydir Hot Pools motel was fully booked and we really wanted to enjoy the spa pools.

The spa pools were fun, but again, in desperate need of a refresh.

The air conditioner in the room was not working. The only way to get cool air into room was thru a lovely screen door that was not able to be locked!!! However,The staff were great, the room was clean, the pools were a delight, very clean and soothing,the king bed was fabulous. The owner needs to spend some money on repairs!!!
