Stylish Stay in the Heart of the City

Great location just a short walk from the main square and shops. The hotel is modern, stylish, and very well presented. Our room was spacious with a comfy bed, sofa, and clever design touches—like the hidden AC unit behind artwork. The bathroom was of exceptionally high quality with great toiletries, and the in-room TV with Chromecast was a real bonus for international travellers.

Overall, the hotel feels high-end and comfortable, but there were a few small drawbacks. The parking advertised as on-site was actually a 5-minute walk (or 10-minute drive) away, which was a little inconvenient. A nearby church bell rings frequently in the evenings—not the hotel’s fault, but worth noting for light sleepers.

The roof light in the room let in natural daylight instead of using a traditional window, but it didn’t seal completely, making the room bright early in the morning. Lastly, breakfast was served on a tiered stand with a varied selection. While the eco-friendly approach is appreciated, we felt a made-to-order menu would reduce waste and allow more personal choice.

Despite these minor issues, this is a high-quality hotel in a fantastic location and would definitely suit travellers looking for comfort and style in the city centre.

Excellent service in a nicely designed space with plenty of amenities. I loved having a TV were the chromecast actually worked so I could listen to some music while relaxing.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast spread was simply too much for any one person. We were cycling and needed fuel and not one person came close to finishing what was provided. Everything was very tasty.

Though I had a room facing the square on ground level, things were quiet and relaxing. Plenty to do within walking distance. A real gem on our trip and worth a return someday.

We loved staying in one of Hotel Roosevelt’s nearby apartments with rooftop. Beautiful space, bedroom, separate living/dining area and 5 star bathroom with large tub. Breakfast was delicious and very reasonably. Easy walking distance to everything in Middelburg. Thank you for the very lovely stay!

First world problems, I know - in the September ‘23 heat wave we were hot and bothered to find that the “aircon’ in the room was a unit that didn’t work, and piped hot air around the room - not only that, we were on the ground floor and to have the pipe exit the room meant leaving the door to the terrace open for anyone to be able to enter our room if they had access to the hotel. We raised concerns with the staff and they were very nice and said it would be looked into, however there was no change in the 2 (almost unbearable) nights we spent here, other than to provide us with a fan (which also moved the hot air around).

The good: Comfortable bed, good shower, central location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
The bad: Parking is remote, shower door noisy when opened, you got to lug your own luggage up the stairs (no elevator), signs of leakage and mold on the ceiling, noisy church bell close by.

Nicely decorated hotel. Location heart of Middelburg center. Breakfast served at the table, was nice. We had a duplex room, nice for a change but personally we found it less handy with a stairs in the room.

Stayed in the Azur apartment, located in a separate building. Well equipped with a nice deck. Comfy bed and good Wi-Fi.

Excellent and ample breakfast, enough for lunch too. Served outdoors when weather permits.

Good for bikers with secure parking in the garden and public bike parking right in front. Location perfect for shopping.

A few minor issues such as soap/shampoo dispensers empty for two days, but overall a very good value hotel.

P.S. Mr Roosevelt, hope you can enjoy a vacation soon, it will be well deserved.

This beautifully situated hotel used to be an office building, and it's a lovely hotel! Our train had a small accident so we arrived late. The owner waited up for us together with his two sweet dogs. Our room was beautiful, and breakfast the next morning felt like high tea! We enjoyed our experience at The Roosevelt.

This Hotel was about the most unique we have ever stayed in. It could be a little challenging for seniors, but we had a choice of rooms. The dining room was exceptional, and overall the Hotel very accommodating.

Everything was really great – very nicely appointed room, spacious, quiet, and the breakfast in the morning was great. The only improvement I would add is brighter lighting in the Azure room where I stayed. The walls are painted dark blue and the doors black, and there is not a great deal of natural light. There are some ceiling spotlights, but no bright lamps to fill up the space – it would really improve the feel and comfort of the room.

Beautiful hotel in a historic building in the centre of Middelburg. Hotel is clean, staff are very friendy and the breakfast is great. Free overnight parking is available outside until 8am. As this is a historic conversion there are steep stairs which will not suit everyone.

The hotel is in a very convenient location and the staff are friendly and helpful.

What lets the property down is that the room I had on the ground floor was very close to the bar area and on the Friday night I was disturbed by singing. Also, the plumbing from the room above came through the room causing loud banging sounds every time the lavatory above was used.

Also, on the Friday evening the staff informed me that there was no food being served so I had to search for a location elsewhere.

Cons:The first night was absolute hell, no ac, no tv, incesstant racket from avent below the widow. DO NOT BOOK ROOM 11.
Pros: Now for the good....on a word EVERYHING. Once we moved rooms, it was simply the BEST. Staff were incredible, breakfast absolutely delicious, location perfect, room impeccable. We will defiantly be back 😁😁😁😁

Perfect city hotel

I had an excellent stay although my room was a duplex (bed up quite steep stairs) which would not suit everybody. The building was charming, but obviously this can lead to this unusual layout. A very central location, ideal for walking around the city, however the public car park was about a 5 minute walk.

Beautiful hotel but horrible problem with service.

First of all let me say that the front desk staff at this lovely hotel is friendly and helpful, but their helpfulness is what got us in trouble and cost us more than $100. When I contacted the hotel later about the problem, the man who answered the call refused to talk to me and hung up on me without letting me explain. Here's what happened:
-We parked at an unmarked space to check in. While at the reception desk, the receptionist and I noticed that a policeman was placing a ticket on our car. She suggested that we run out and stop him.
-My husband immediately went outside to explain that we were parked temporarily to check in, but the policeman said he must give the ticket. My husband took it inside and asked the receptionist where we should go to pay it.
-She told us not to worry and explained that the hotel would take care of it if we would give it to the manager, who was sitting in the lobby at the time. We did so. -- At this point, we could no longer pay for the ticket because we did not have it. We said \"Thank you\" and forgot about it.
-When our VISA bill arrived, there was an additional $104.49 charge from Enterprise Car Rental, who eventually got the ticket from Middelburg with a non-payment fine. Enterprise passed this on to us with an additional fine.
The hotel did not reply to my emails about this problem, and when I call and tried to explain, the man who answered would not listen to my explanation. He yelled at me and hung up on me.

When you sleep in hotels frequently it's nice to stay somewhere different. Being a lover of English breakfast it was nice to have something different also and I don't mean the usual continental breakfast this was really good! Served with consideration and a personal touch. There is no evening meal but there are plenty of places around the town to eat. The staff were good, two of which were the owners but even the other staff give you the impression that they owned it too. I will stay here again.

The owner and staff are very personable. This is a far from a chain hotel as possible! A brand new hotel located directly across from the main church and old abbey in the center of Middelburg.

Boutique hotel in Middelburg town centre

A nice boutique hotel. Actually some heritage offices converted into a hotel quite recently. I got a warm welcome from the lady at the reception. She was friendly and was running the coffee shop / bar below the hotel. I was to drive early next morning to Amsterdam and she ensured that I got a bag of breakfast to take away. My room was large, As it had been an office earlier the room hadn't got a toilet designed in it. So interestingly a toilet closure had been fitted into the room quite recently. A rectangular box with a shower on one side and a loo on the other. But it is very tastefully done. Classy furniture... really old and beautiful building. The hotel is excellent and I will visit again ... perhaps next time with the family.

The hotel is situated in the historic center of Middelburg. It is a boutique hotel, all the rooms are different in style and size. I had the Grand DeLuxe Room #25 on the 2nd floor. The room was under the roof, spacious and comfortable with a bath and a separate shower. The decor was in good condition and everything was very clean. The only thing about the room: the two electricity sockets are on floor level and to plug in your telephone, laptop etc., you first have to crawl on your knees in a dark corner to disconnect the lights before you can use your electronics.

Second: It should be mentioned on the homepage that there is no lift/elevator in the hotel. My room was on the second floor and to reach only by two very steep stone spiral stairs. I am elderly and have a walking disability and to walk these stairs up and down was very disagreeable for me. It said on the room information there is no elevator but only when you click for more information. It should be more clear that not all rooms are accessible to elderly people with heart/circulation problems (like myself), wheelchairs or to people with baby prams.

The staff was very helpful in getting my luggage down (I couldn’t have managed on my own) but especially when you are not completely mobile, it feels uncomfortable to depend for help on others. Even with a handicap I want to travel and feel independent.

That said: the staff was friendly and helpful.

For atmosphere, luxury and location: 9. Accesibity: 4.

Gezellig ontvangst bij aankomst, persoonlijk naar de kamer gebracht. Erg leuk pand, verborgen pareltje vind ik. Leuk dat alle kamers anders zijn. Ontbijt was lekker en voldoende. Gezellig gegeten met vrienden van buiten het hotel. Konden we ontbijt bijboeken voor een mooie prijs. Al met al een aanrader en komen we zeker terug.

Kamer was uitstekend. Ontbijt liet te wensen over. Met name het in shifts kunnen deelnemen. En het aan tafel uitgeserveerde ontbijt. Men gaat ervan uit dat iedereen datgene lust wat het hotel voor jouw ontbijt uitkiest. Zo werkt dat dus niet. De broodjes waren wel erg mini, het beleg heel erg afgepast. Ik kies liever zelf wat ik eet.

Le séjour avait bien commencé, la chambre appartement avait l’air très bien à 150 m du bâtiment principal mais avis aux voyageurs : vérifiez bien que rien ne manque car chez nous pas de savon et pas de shampoing.
Normalement cela devrait être un détail réglé en deux minutes mais la réception qui devait être présente 24/24 a promis d’apporter un set complet à 2 reprises mais personne n’est jamais venu alors que j’ai passé 3 heures de 22h à 1h du matin à attendre et à téléphoner.
Bref …..service médiocre et peu sympathique pour rester poli.
Hôtel que je ne peux pas conseiller.

Scale alla olandese, perciò con le valigie un po’ difficoltose, ma sei praticamente in centro storico.

Superbe séjour à l’hôtel Roosevelt situé au centre de Middelburg. Tout se fait à pied depuis l’hôtel. Notre chambre-appartment était spacieux et disposait d’une terrasse.
Idéal pour un séjour en couple avec 1 enfant.

Ein schönes Hotel im historischen Zentrum von Middelburg, dennoch sehr ruhig. Die Fußgängerzone und viele schöne Lokale mit Außenbereichen gleich um die Ecke. Das Ein- und Auschecken war problemlos, alle Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr entspannt war das Frühstück, das am Tisch serviert wurde.
Das Dreibettzimmer für 2 Erwachsene und ein Kind war komfortabel, gemütlich und sehr sauber. Ein kleines Manko war der fehlende Schrank, offene Regale sind Geschmackssache..
Geparkt wurde im zentralen Parkhaus am Fluss, zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten erreichbar.
Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und würden dieses Hotel noch einmal wählen.

The Roosevelt is een prachtig, hotel in het centrum van Middelburg. Mooi ingerichte, ruime kamers, van alle gemakken voorzien. Waar het echter misgaat is bij de zeer beperkte servicegerichtheid van de medewerkers en de rigide timeslot-regels die het hotel bij reserveringen voor ontbijt en sauna.

Daarnaast kan het natuurlijk gebeuren dat er iets niet helemaal goed genoteerd wordt bij het boeken/reserveren. In plaats van het oplossen van de fout wijzen de medewerkers naar elkaar, benadrukken ze keer op keer dat zij het zelf niet fout gedaan hebben en laten overduidelijk blijken dat ze de klant maar lastig vinden, dit in plaats van te kijken hoe ze het probleem op kunnen lossen. Een hele nare en onwelkome ervaring.

Geschikter voor vakantie dan voor werkbezoek

Hotel geschikter voor vakantie dan voor een werkbezoek.
Om op de kamer te komen moet je een trap op en met koffers is dat zwaar. Ook voor mensen met een zwak hart of andere problemen kan de trap problematisch zijn. Er is overigens wel iemand bereid om te helpen met het dragen van de koffer. Het eten in het restaurant is zeker lekker.
Storend is dat er in de kamer geen goede spiegel met verlichting is, dus op een goede manier je make-up of je haar doen is ingewikkeld.
Ook storend is het slechte ontbijt. Je kon alleen om half 8, half 9 of half 10 ontbijten en er was geen keuze. Je krijgt ontbijt aan je tafel met een vast setje van afgebakken broodjes en twee boterhammen en beleg (kaas en vleeswaren). En een jus d'orange en een schaaltje yoghurt met jam (gezoet) en muesli (eveneens gezoet). Twee keer gevraagd om fruit, maar dat was niet beschikbaar. Gezond ontbijten is dus hier niet mogelijk. Je krijgt gewoon wat de mensen van het hotel bedacht hebben.

Kamer was goed maar wel donker. Toilet en badkamer zijn aan de raamzijde waardoor weinig licht naar binnen kan. Beter was deze bij de deur te creëren e. Bed aan raamzijde.

Fabuleux hôtel au cœur de Middelburg

Nous avons passé le week-end pour mon anniversaire dans cet hôtel situé au cœur de Middelburg. Nous pouvons tout faire à pied.
La décoration est moderne et sobre, l’hôtel ayant été fait dans une ancienne bâtisse.
Le petit déjeuner est copieux. Nous avons également dîner au restaurant de l’hôtel dont la cuisine est très raffinée. Un délice. La literie est comfortable. Le personnel est très gentil.
En bref, excellent séjour. Vous pouvez réserver les yeux fermés.
Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

Great hotel,administrative routines worse

This is a great hotel in central Middelburg! We enjoyed our stay. However, the blocking of the 530 euro as warrant for payment on my creditcard didn't expire until 10 days after our visit ended, in spite of the fact that I payed the bill when checking out of the hotel. This should have been dealt with much faster.

Weinig ruimte op de kamer. Prijs dus te hoog!

Het is een mooi hotel midden in het centrum, wel heel rumoerig aan de straatkant. De prijs m.i. veel te hoog! Want de kamer was erg krap! Nauwelijks plaats om je koffer neer te zetten. Een rek voor je kleren, alleen bereikbaar als de stoel van het muurtafeltje ondergeschoven was. Geen fatsoenlijke koelkast. Ook het douche en wastafeldeel alleen één voor één te gebruiken.
