I stayed one night at Bunkahaus. The hotel is very close to Taksim Square, which makes it super convenient for exploring the city. The receptionist was very friendly and professional, always ready to help and answer any questions I had. Everything was clean and well-organized, and I had no issues during my stay.
The only downside was that, because it’s near Taksim, there was quite a bit of noise at night. Other than that, everything was great!

Very bad room, smelly and it’s in basement. All night we hear flushing in above bathroom.
My wife couldn’t sleep at all. Also I requested to change and the receptionist was rude and said there’s no other room and next day the lady receptionist said there were available rooms so first male receptionist was lying

Location is amazing, at the heart of the famous Taksim square, very close to all the restaurants and coffee shops and bars and entertainment. Very close to the metro station and bus station, and there are many taxi cabs around. Check in was very easy and staff was very friendly and helpful. Elevator worked very well, but it is only for two people. Internet also worked well. TV has good channels. Hot water was good. The following are the negatives. It may get really noisy on weekends because there are so many teenagers hanging out on the street and drinking until morning. In the morning cleaning and trash people made some noise. Room Cleaning also needs some improvement because they were hair either from previous person or the cleaning staff around. Also, I couldn't run the heater on AC, but the central heating system was working fine. Bed was very comfortable however, they have one type of pillow which was too high for me.

Stayed at Bunkahaus for 4 nights. Bekram and Maya were extremely helpful, calling places on our behalf. The hotel is just off Taksim Square so it's very convenient for getting around. If you close the windows and turn on the AC, you won't hear minimal street noise, or the call to prayer. The large room was only US$55 pn and comes with all the usual amenities (tea/coffee, TV, safe, soaps, etc). You're 1 street down from \"the\" Istikal Street so there's unlimited eating and entertainment. We are very happy with Bunkahaus, and if we return to Istanbul, we would definitely stay there again.

My Bankahaus Review

First impressions arriving at the hotel was good. Location great but later found this location was quite a noisy area so if you’re looking for a quite nights sleep, you’ll struggle. The hotel looked a little tired and was a shame the Japanese Restaurant within no longer operated.
Greeted at the hotel reception by a young chap. I checked in and directed up to my room on the first floor. The room was a good size with a raised bed area, small table, a chair and a little tea coffee area with mini fridge. Also had an on-suite. And a small wardrobe. A TV but only Turkish channels.
I also noticed a small safe under the raised bed area which was great but it was locked. I couldn’t but notice the incredibly strong damp odour and smell from the loo! I had open the windows to get rid of the smell and air the room.
I quickly found out the odours were to return because although the en-suite had an extractor fan, it didn’t work, hence the continuing damp smell. The other bad odours seem to emanate when the other toilets flushed in the other rooms which wasn’t very pleasant for obvious reasons.
With regards to s to the safe, as mentioned it was locked. I asked several times if it could be opened but they said they would every time but never did. So I had to walk around with all my personal belongings which wasn’t the most comfortable thing to do for a week.
The best part of my stay was, the mattress was comfortable and the sheets were clean.

The property was in a good place near Taksim square but the property was not in a good spot so for finding the property we had to ask several people to find it. In addition self wash water for washroom was not working. The washroom was broken and very dangerous to use.

Good thing is that it is super near to Taksim street and the Metro. Additionally, the HAVAIST bus stop is walking distance so no need to drag your suitcase till you sweat everything out.

Bad thing is that the hotel is really really tiny. Only 1 luggage can be opened at once so you gotta think what to take out in advance to avoid unnecessary opening out luggage again.

Me and my brother booked a 2 room suite. When we arrived, we found out that they moved us in to a room with one king bed . We told them that we are not couples, we are brother and sister . We have to sleep in 2 separate rooms. I was very upset at the situation but Forqan solved our problem and gave us 2 rooms as the initial suite I booked had issues and was being repaired. The hotel is small but nice and close to the istiklal street and the staff are very nice .
I would go again definitely.

Cosy small rooms, very clean and comfy. It's a little small overall but perfect for the price.

Staff are incredibly helpful and responsive and that makes all the difference from similar small hotels in the area.

Location is perfect, not on taksim street just one street below it, which shields you enough from the noise to fall asleep when you're tired.

Great hotel by Taksim Square

Great location - just off Taksim Square, near many restaurants and Istiklal Street. Very nice and friendly staff who always try to help, especially Ozden who speaks excellent English. Clean and comfortable rooms. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I like the location which is about one block from istikal. It can be a little noisy at night if you open the windows and might bother some but it’s fine with me. The room and bathroom are functional and good for the price. The staff are really friendly. The elevator is small, fits a person with a big bag but not an issue. This was my third stay as I find the location convenient for me and I really like the staff. Friendly and professional service always make me return.

I love the location because it is near istikal ave. The staff was always friendly. This time I didn’t give a five because the elevator was not working. Even though the staff helped me to carry the bag up. I had to carry it down. Also, I had to leave around 6am and there was no receptionist there. He left a note to call him but my phone couldn’t call. I don’t mind staff resting but I think there should be perhaps a bell or something that could easily reach the receptionist. He was nice and apologized. But I was panicking for 20 minutes thinking I would miss my flight. I did miss the shuttle I wanted but I was lucky that I gave myself enough time and I could breeze through the check in and immigration process because of my elite status.

Memorable Day on Check-In Sep 25, 2019. Experienced a 5.7 magnitude earthquake and everything in the room and building was intact. Very Japanese feel to the room. Very clean, bright and loved the King Bed. The hot water kettle, refrigerator, free coffee, bottled water were great features. Very close to Taksim Square where you will find food and entertainment.

In the center, but a relatively quiet area.

The stay was short but I had a great time at the Bunka house. The hotel is cozy and the room was comfortable. I stayed on the top floor and the room was spacious. The location of the Bunka House was near Taksim, so it was very easy to get to from the airport (using the airport shuttle Havataş).

I will definitely book this hotel again when I return to Istanbul.

We were there for 6 days and we found the hotel value for money. There wasn't anything we could complain about. Location is brilliant very close to the happening Istiklal street and Taksim square. The information provided on the website regarding the airport chattel was tricky. My understanding that the hotel has a chattel service but has to be paid by the customer and it is okay but I discovered that you have to take a different bur service to the final stop which appeared far away from the hotel to somebody have few bags. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful, hotel and room cleanness were very good but the room was very tiny and the breakfast had a very few items.

Good hotel for the price. The rooms are somewhat small but very clean and the quality of the furnishings is good. I've stayed at other hotels here in the same price range and this is one of the better ones. Nice helpful staff and a perfect location for enjoying the Istiklal night life.

A room facing the street is not worth the stay

Unfortunately, rooms facing the street are noisy thru-out the night ( car horn noise).
Management should consider another layer of light sound proof material to be placed over the window by the guests at night - as a temporary solution
