This historic home in Charlevoix was a comfortable, convenient place to stay. We happened to get one of the smaller rooms, and yet it was still comfortable. Steffan was an excellent host, and he provided a delicious breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend this property!

I had a lovely early spring stay at the Charlevoix House! The gorgeous inn is steeped in historic charm, the cozy room was immaculate, and the scenic property location is the perfect proximity to downtown. Steffan, the innkeeper, was the gem of the experience, crafting delicious breakfasts each morning, sharing information on local beaches and hikes, and checking in to ensure my stay was pleasant. I will definitely be visiting again!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay over Valentines. Charlevoix House was very warm and comfortable. Our host, Steffan, made us feel right at home and welcomed. And, he is an excellent chef and baker! The breakfast spread was one of the best we have experienced when staying at B&B's. Our room was spacious with a nice view of Lake Michigan. Location is fantastic - just a short walk will get you right into the center of town and all activities.

Lucky me! I came into town to visit some relatives in early January with the snow and I was the only guest. Charming Inn! Like magic, Steffan had a fire going in the fireplace so we could enjoy a cozy visit. Superb!

It was quite interesting because when we got to our room, the heaters weren’t working. So he gave us a space heater. Which was fine, but I was being paranoid and didn’t feel comfortable with that so the next day he put us in a different room and the food was delicious And he was very helpful and accommodating

My husband and I went to Charlevoix to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary. Checking was easy and Steffen was very helpful. He gave me the names of beaches to explore. There was a beach one block away with benches overlooking the lake. A perfect place to watch the sun go down. We would stay there again just for Steffen's breakfast. Thanks Steffen, for being caring and making our stay delightful.

Anniversary celebration.

The home was very clean. Stephen provided a delicious healthy breakfast with a lot of variety for everyone. He was also very accommodating with giving us a first floor bedroom as I have some disabilities. It’s a very historic house and we enjoyed that. But I was disappointed to see all of the plastic and silk flowers, especially in Charlevoix, which is filled with planters and gardens full of flowers.

We recently had a great 4-night stay at the Charlevoix House. We thought Stephan, the innkeeper was wonderful and seemed to truly enjoy his role there. He was very attentive and went out of his way to ensure that our stay was a good one. His breakfast dishes were delicious and fresh every day. The house itself is showing its age and needs some tlc but we'd like to think that's part of the charm. The front porch floor was in need of a paint refresh, but other than that, our room and rest of the house was nice (squeaky floors and all). We'd much rather stay there than at a local hotel. The location is convenient for walking downtown Charlevoix. And we enjoyed meeting and talking to the other guests. Definitely will return.

Homey and Warm Charlevoix Inn

We had a very nice stay. The house is quite clean, although old. We specially appreciated the thoughtfulness's and friendliness of the Innkeeper, Stefan. He makes all feel welcome and he’s a good cook! The location is great. We walked to everything in town. If you like homey, warm and convenient, this is the place for you.

Stefan fixed a wonderful breakfast for us after our one night stay. He provided directions to the beach and nearby restaurants. Probably the only issue wasn't with the accommodations, but with our timing staying in this tiny town. Many of the restaurants were closed on our Wednesday stay, so our options were more limited than they would have been on the weekend.

Our room was a nice size, it was clean. The innkeeper was almost nonexistent—he left a note for us with check-in information, didn’t see him at breakfast or when we checked out, and we were there for 2 days! Breakfast was left on a hot plate in a cramped dining area, and by the time we got down to breakfast, it did not look appetizing (we went out for breakfast on day 2). Had to track down the innkeeper to get more coffee (he didn’t seem pleased). It was just not a very charming place to stay, and we won’t be back.

The Charlevoix House is in a wonderful location, about 100 yards from the bridge that leads to downtown. Breakfast by Steffan was more than adequate. The room was ample in size. Our recommendations: it needs to be updated electronically (number of outlets), the bathroom shower had some mold on the caulking, the lighting could be improved in the room. We were there four nights and the breakfast each morning was about the same. Variety could help. Typical hotel toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc) were not adequate or not provided.

We came in very late we basically just slept a little while before catching the ferry to Beaver Island. The place was very nice, the parking was not so good if others patrons new how to park we had to park across the street at the other motel and walk across the street.
I'm handicapped and didn't put that in my reservation and had to walk three flights of stairs. Overall nice place.

Full breakfast prepared by host Stefan. Everything was delicious and homemade. Property is very clean and in walking distance to downtown and the ferry.Nice room with comfortable bed and smart tv. Across the street is a cul de sac park with beach perfect for watching the sunsets. Nice front porch for relaxing. Common area is nice too. Host Stefan was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns to make our stay comfortable.

First off I read reviews but not all reviews. That's on me. When you pull up to Charlevoix House first thing I notice is how the grounds were so unkept. The grass was really tall. There are no flowers or anything to make the place look inviting or pleasant. The porch could use a good coat of paint that would say a lot for it. When I arrived inside the door it took several minutes for Steffan to come down the stairs to wait on me. Place has dirty floors, dirty carpets going up the stairs. Just unkept. There was a cat in the hallway. Nowhere on their site does it say they have a cat. I like cats but my husband is slightly allergic to cats. Luckily he was able to handle the stay. The bed because the floor is very slanted, the head of the bed was lower than our feet. Kind of an uncomfortable night of sleep. But the room was cute. Bathroom was okay. Toothpaste splatter all over the back wall. Window unit for AC. The curtain was too long and we didn't want to block the AC cuz it was hot. The lights from the hotel next door were really bright and was a nuisance for the night. Got up to have breakfast. It smelled great. Checked out the room for breakfast and there was absolutely no place to sit, super tight, super small. We left and had breakfast someplace else. Which defeats the point staying at a B&B is to have breakfast. This place does have potential. Needs updated furnishings,wall treatments etc. CLEANING!!!

First of all the inn keeper Steffan was very nice-kind and helpful. The house itself left a lot to be desired. At the price point we paid-almost $800 for 3 nights we expect more. Creaky floorboard, loud guests, tiny cheap plastic shower , small window ac running continuously, no cooling in main house, no bath exhaust inadequate parking,continuous traffic jam on road due to close proximity of bridge raising every half hour. . House has potential but needs renovations-fix creaky floors, soundproofing, install central air, renovate bathrooms, expand parking.

The bathroom sink and floor looked to be newly renovated. However the shower was old and a towel rack was broken. This b & b could be a 10 with a little more TLC.

Awesome Stay!

Absolutely amazing time! The bed & pillow were so comfortable it felt like sleeping on a cloud. Homemade breakfast prepared by innkeeper was amazing & delicious. This B&B is only two blocks from walkable downtown Charlevoix. Many awesome shops & restaurants, ferry & nearby park. Nearby lighthouse & wonderful beach. We took an evening walk in the neighborhood by the B&B & every house had a beautiful front porch like the B&B. On our walk we found the old Charlevoix train station. The porch on the B&B had comfortable seating & even when it rained we were under cover so we were able to spend time visiting other guests out on the porch as well as in the dining room for the breakfast. Our room had very comfortable chairs & the fun part was a vintage bathtub (in addition to a separate modern shower). We will definitely stay at Charlevoix House again!

If you’re heading to Charlevoix, do yourself a favor and stay at Charlevoix House. Steffan is hands-down one of the best innkeepers we’ve ever met—welcoming, friendly, and somehow always around when you need something, but never in your space when you don’t.

The place itself was cozy, clean, and full of charm, but it’s Steffan’s hospitality that really made it feel like home. From great local recommendations to just genuinely good conversation, he made our stay feel more like visiting an old friend (except with way better coffee and perfectly made beds).

Highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back—as long as Steffan’s still running the show.

I love staying at B&Bs while traveling. What makes this place so special is the location and cleanliness; but the innkeeper Steffan is amazing. He is always checking on his guests, excellent cook, gave great recommendations, etc. I would stay here again just for the innkeeper alone.

We mostly enjoyed our stay. It was clean and comfortable, and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious. The host was very friendly and helpful.

My only complaints would be that there there are separate faucets for hot and cold water in the bathroom sink. Why in this day & age?? Also, they were really too small. The water barely made it into the sink bowl. It's was an inconvenience.

This spot was a couple blocks from the center of town. Clean, Convenient, Quaint Old B&B.... Just what I imagined it was going to be.
And the caretaker.. Steffan.... Took excellent care of us.
The Rooms were spacious.. The furniture comfortable... and the Breakfast was delicious.

We recommend and will stay again in the near future!

Real and Good Breakfast Included.

The Charlevoix House was delightful and very closely located by the ferry boat dock and downtown. The only complaint I had was the very creaky floor of the very old house. The staff is very aware of it and planning to address it.
Though one could say the creaking floor was a feature of the old house, and not a complaint.
All the rooms were unique, and the kitchen and common areas were nice and spacious.
