Our first visit to the area for a golf getaway and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were basically brand new (renovations were occurring to the property but didn’t hinder our visit at all). The hot breakfast was delicious, eggs were delicious and sausages were a solid breakfast choice as well. Coffee was fresh and the people on staff treated us politely during check in and at breakfast. I would recommend this location and would definitely stay here again.

Would have been nice to know facilities were under major renovations. Room was nice & clean but paint fumes were horrible unable to use pool since they shocked it the day we arrived and fumes were so harsh they burned my throat. Reno workers took up all convenient parking & had to step around painters and ladders and go around different obstacles just to get morning coffee. Couldn’t use facilities except to sleep & shower not very Wyndom-like. Disappointed

The hotel is under renovation. The rooms were done, but the hotel lobby gutted and covered for painting, etc… No formal breakfast, but did provide muffins, fruit and coffee. It would be helpful if the renovation stage was made clear beforehand. A person has to drive for dining options. Nothing around hotel.

I really appreciated the friendly and polite staff to start. We did not know prior that they were renovating so that would of been helpful to know. I feel the room was clean and looked newly renovated, but the whole lobby as well as where the ice machine and back door was, was a construction zone basically, which affected us because I had a dog with us. So I worried about him stepping on something. In addition, because they were renovating, they really didn't have a breakfast which is one reason I booked with them. So I didn't like that either.

We traveled as a family of three, including our 4-year-old, and overall had a comfortable stay. The hotel is located about 2–3 miles outside of downtown Charlevoix, making it a convenient and short drive to the downtown area and the beach.

The interiors have a pleasant rustic, wooden charm. It appeared that renovations were recently completed or still ongoing, as there was a noticeable fresh paint smell, and some minor details, like handwritten room numbers, reflected that transition phase.
Our room was spacious and cozy, especially with the fireplace, which added a nice touch. The bed, however, could have been more comfortable, something to consider improving for a better guest experience.

Breakfast offered the usual options. As a vegetarian, my choices were somewhat limited. I would have appreciated more hot options, such as freshly prepared oatmeal, rather than only pre-packaged instant oats. That said, there were still basics like bread, fruit, and yogurt available.

The staff was helpful throughout our stay, from check-in to housekeeping. While service was efficient, a bit more warmth and friendliness in interactions would have made the experience even more welcoming.

Overall, the hotel is a solid and comfortable option, especially for families, if accommodations closer to downtown are fully booked.

The room was absolutely disgusting- sheets/ bed skirts were stained and dirty. There was a hair tie still within the sheets (so guessing bedding didn’t get changed) and when we asked to switch rooms, the owner/manager asked why we were “checking the mattress”. Also they had the door to outside taped up so it wouldn’t latch, allowing anyone access to the building. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere!

A renovation is in progress which we weren’t told until the day of check in, the hot tub jets weren’t working. The pool area was very old, black mold on pool bathroom ceiling. The pool doorframes were totally rusted, just very unsightly!

Been staying for years. It was a great place, then about 3-4 years ago it…changed. Not sure what but the quality of everything went down. Not the staff, you could tell the staff was frustrated, but they have always been great.

During this stay there was storage containers of new furniture, their pool/hot tub was (mostly) fixed….
You can tell they are investing into the place! They are on the right path.

I stay often, so I’ll right another review after their update.

Overall, decent stay at a decent price. Staff great as always!

PROS: Staff is friendly. Breakfast is great. Room is clean.

CONS: Hotel is not secure, back entrance door was broken and open all weekend. Newer card readers for room doors, but swivel \"U\" arm bar had nothing to latch onto, thus making it useless. Missing ceiling tiles in dark hallways. Vanity light in room was very dim. Window in my room was cracked and moldy. Exterior of hotel was missing siding shingles, had chipped and peeling paint, and there was a great deal of trash all around the grounds. Hotel is dated, but they are in the midst of a remodel which is clearly evident by the pyramid of discarded furniture in the parking lot. Hotel did not look like the photographs online.

The room needs a thorough cleaning and some maintenance. There is dirt and grime in the corners of the bathroom and around the door, the tops of mirror, tile ledges and other surfaces, splatters on the tiles. There is mold starting to grow around the bath tub fixtures. The base of the fridge has white flaky spill material that has been there for a longtime. Both chairs are stained. The shower curtain is tearing in multiple places. The light bulb is broken by the bedside lamp. There’s a crack on one of the windows. The TV remote won’t turn on/off, has to be turned on manually. Also no coffee, the GFI was triggered and the jets don’t work in the hot tub. The staff were friendly and helpful, though.

Upon walking into the pool area it smelled stronly of mold. The hot tub was extremely dirty. The water in the hot tub had hair,dried leaves,a few dead spiders and scum floating around to the point of it being very cloudy and visually dirty. The spots where you sit were extremely slimey. We got out immediately. The jets were also not working. They was no towels in the pool area and only 2 other people that were in the pool at the time we were in that area. The room was beautiful.We stayed in the luxery suite.Room 204. The bed was extremely comfortable. The jacuzi in the bedroom had a broken push button to start the jets and was visable dirty around the buttons and jacuzzi. You could see hair everywhere. The breakfast was okay wish they had the juice machine up and running instead of the very small juice boxes that they had. The sausage was shriveled up dry. But the biscuits and gravy were ok. The front desk employee was very kind and respectful. But wasnt at the desk much at all. We wish this was a different experience.As we enjoy American inn normally. I genuinely hope these issues get fixed so we can come back.

The staff were very kind, and the room itself was clean and comfortable. However, our room (208) was located very close to the second-floor entrance, so we could hear people passing through the hallway with luggage and talking loudly. The soundproofing isn’t very effective, and we could hear music coming from the main floor as early as 5 a.m. On a positive note, breakfast was good. I would stay here again, but I would request a different room if possible.

When we learned there were very few guests staying the evening we did, we expected to be spread out from other guests. Instead, we were put in a room on the second floor closest to the stairs and next to another guest who kept slamming their doors late into the evening as well as the next morning. It was a bit disappointing our little getaway was not as relaxing as we expected.
