The bathroom smells like mold. Windows don't open and the lights are so dimmed that outside is always brighter and you have to take you phone and use your flash light to go to bathroom. I DON'T recommend it

Excellent comfortable hotel, great location

Very clean room with spacious bathroom. Heating in both worked very well. Excellent convenient location across the road from the main ferry terminal (for the Hurtigruten and Havila coastal voyages) and Airport Express Bus stop. Local bus stops, supermarket, shopping mall with pharmacy, Tromso's pedestrian high street (Storgata) and northern lights tour meeting points are all within 5 minutes walk. My arrival was delayed by 17 hours due to the last minute cancellation of 2 long haul connections by the airline but the hotel held my room booking for me when I messaged them en route. The included buffet breakfast was excellent! Andy at the reception desk was very kind and nice when I finally made it to check-in at 12 midnight. He told me where I could walk along the waterfront to see the northern lights. After an exhausting and unexpectedly stressful 45 hour journey and 4 flights, it was a welcome relief for check-in to go so smoothly. Note: Photos on the hotels.com and official hotel website showed the double standard rooms have sea views but this is not the case. Room 728 has a slightly obstructed city view.

Good value - simple, warm, clean

Simple, warm, clean & quiet room with mini/bar fridge, kettle & hair dryer. Heating works really well including the bathroom. Good value budget hotel for the Lofoten region and Norway generally. Big window so you can look up at the night sky to check for aurora (northern lights). Conveniently located opposite the ferry terminal, Hertz car rental, and a 3 minute walk to the waterfront pier. Small parking lot is in front of the hotel - appears to be free from 7pm-8am on Monday-Friday, and 5pm-7am on the weekend. Free for first 15 minutes which is handy in case you forgot something and need to briefly dash back up to your room.

The room was clean and fine to stay in, however when we arrived the toilet was broken wouldn’t flush. Also the temperature in bathroom was like a sauna. I emailed Fast Hotels to report our problem but we never got a response. Finally in the morning I spoke to a person cleaning rooms and they messaged maintenance but it was too by then as we were leaving. This was very disappointing to be ignored by the hotel

Property was in a rundown area. Worst of all, it was completely unmanned. There was no staff on the premises. You let yourself in with a code that was texted to you--no lobby staff, no one to answer questions--completely hands off. I was unaware of this at the time of booking, and will never stay there again.

Complete absence of hospitality

Is this the future of so called 'hospitality'?
This hotel has no human presence whatsoever: no check in / reception staff; nobody to speak to with a problem.They send a text with access code and room number on the afternoon of arrival.If you don't get the text you will be sleeping on the street.
What happens if there is an IT failure? Everybody out on the street?
What happens in an emergency ? The hotel will have nobody to help. You will be on your own, and relying on the local volunteer services.

Looks like a newly built property. so its clean. convenient park in and check in facility. there is no staff its a self check-in hotel.
Lift is small but available.

the heater was not effective. They can do better on that.

There are few restaurants nearby, for good breakfast options.

This is a decent budget self-service hotel. Instructions for using the code were a little off--pad wasn't where they said it would be, but there was only one, so it wasn't hard to figure out (just make sure to step into the electric eye to get the door to open after you enter the code). Rooms are small and basic but workable. Small refrigerator can hold some drinks and fruit, several shelves to make best use of space. Didn't quite have the garbage emptied when I arrived, but it's a budget hotel, so that goes with the territory. A block or so from the Bodø ferry landing and about a ten minute walk to the ferry to Skrova, so very convenient.

No where to sit, no ventilation so the window needs to be open except the angry seagulls make so much noise in the morning you cannot sleep. The worst is no items in machine downstairs and the coffee machine in lobby was not working. Not impressed with this no frill hotel for the money

We had no access on arrival at 11pm. The hotel had no reception, it’s door code only. When I tried to call them they said they would email me code for door, they NEVER did. Called hotels.com help desk they couldn’t help. We were stuck outside, luckily a worker from the hotel who stays in a room in the building came outside as we were waiting. She walked us a few blocks to a sister hotel (Suite hotel), the receptionist there finally got us a code. This place is like hostel, it’s tiny. Disappointing access and disappointing hotels.com support.

Would've been nice

Overall was good but with the self-service everything, they could've prepared a phone to call their customer service. Instead I had to use my IDD call to check with them the door code cause the front door opened with the code they generated but couldn't open my room door. To make matters worst, the lift/elevator did not work and I was on the last 4th floor. Again, would've been nice to enter a warm room but it was really really cold.

Location was good, just across the Flybussen drop off and Hurtigruten ferry terminal. Especially nice was they gave me a room facing North and the aurora appeared on my first night in Lofoten. So overall, I'm still fine with everything except for the \"could've\".

It’s an interesting concept and for the most part works. Norway is expensive but this no staff hotel really lowers the price. I had a minor problem when my code to get in didn’t work but this was rectified quickly with a phone call. It’s no frills, but clean, warm and very close to the ferry port and centre,

Price reflects the quality of this place. One of the cheapest places in Svolvaer but the room was average. The shower leaked all over the bathroom tiles, only one bathroom light went and it said there was a desk in the room but there wasn’t. Fine if you’re just wanting somewhere sheltered to sleep but I wouldn’t recommend it for more than a night

Great deal

Check in process was very easy, you get all the information you need both in an sms and an email. The area was very quite. There is a fridge and the room is generally fine. Overall a great deal. This is almost 7 minutes by foot to the centre. Free parking was not included in the price, so we had to pay extra (14 euros) from 23 to 10 next morning. I would recommend this.

We would stay there again!

We stayed at Fast Hotel Svolvær for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised! A very hearty breakfast is delivered to your room every evening. We were usually able to stretch it out for both breakfast and lunch as there is a refrigerator in the room. The beds were very comfortable and the linens in great shape. The location was perfect for us as we had rented a car at the airport and were able to turn it in right there by the hotel (with no one-way surcharges) and board onto the Hertigruten ship easily. It is a very short walk to the town square where you can find shopping and restaurants and sign up for excursions. The only downside was that this hotel does not have AC and the first two nights we were there it was quite warm.

Clean & comfortable but unusual check in procedure

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast they provide was small but good. Unfortunately, we only received breakfast for one person rather than both of us. This hotel is a little weird because they have no front desk staff, just a kiosk that you use to check it. We definitely had an issue with getting our key code because of some confusion about whether or not we had paid in advance. We called the hotel's main office and they helped us sort it out but it was stressful since we arrived so late that day and don't have an international phone plan. I would strongly recommend that you check with them at least a few days in advance and specifically ask if they received your payment so that you can get the key code the day of your arrival (they don't give it out earlier than day of).

Great simple hotel, modern room

The Fast Hotel keeps its prices down by not having staff at reception or a restaurant. However the rooms themselves are modern and clean just like you would find at any regular chain style hotel (Thon, Scandic etc) so if you’re happy to check yourself in with a computer which is fast and easy anyway, and substitute a buffet breakfast with a quick matpakke then it’s a great hotel. The only minor complaint I would have had was that we were 3 adults and got assigned a room that only had a double bed. We were carrying camping gear so it was no problem for one of us to just roll a mat out but had we not had that with us we might have had a problem seeing there was no staff there to help.

Many problems getting code for access. We went to the admin office a few blocks away at least 4 times over the day to get the code but although the door was wide open there was no one on the office until 4 pm.
Room was clean but underneath toilet seat very dirty.
Room was very hot - 25 degrees - couldn't sleep.
Soul-less. With no staff or any way to contact staff it felt eerie.

Es gibt keine Rezeption, alles läuft digital. Beim Parken gegenüber dem Hotel muss man sehr genau auf die Regeln achten. Das Zimmer war sauber und alles hat funktioniert, im Hotel war es ruhig. Würde wieder hier übernachten.

Hotellet ligger fint. Værelset var stort, lyst og rent, men loftpladerne er anløbne og rullegardinerne havde set bedre dage.
Jeg havde ikke fået mail med pinkode, men det blev hurtigt løst af online-receptionen.

Not So Fast Hotels Svolvær

- The cleaning was terrible. Bed, Chair and Shower was visibly dirty.
- The hotel beds where very thin and had hard springs in the matress. Its not the framed beds advertised in the pictures, but thin spring beds.
- Coffe automat in the lobbey where not refilled so after paying 2€ you would only get hot murky water.
- Water fossit leaking when brushing your theeth.
- A foul smell of mold or sewage in the bathroom. Bathroom also had some spots on the roofing that looked like water damage.
- To get hot water you would have to let the water run for about 8 full minutes (I took the time). In that sense i guess it's somewhat climate friendly, as it forces you to take cold showers if you are in a hurry.
