Great location with so many options for eating, shopping and overall things to do. We took many tours and were picked up right outside our private gated area. Only one where we had to walk for a food and wine tour which was only a five minute walk. Angela our host was always available to accommodate or answer questions and make recommendations or provide directions. It is a very small hotel with seven rooms but met our basic needs. Definitely a no frills hotel. However if you’re a person who spends time in a room for resting and preparing outside activities the La Magnolia is ideal. If you’re looking g for a luxury or spa experience La Magnolia probably isn’t for you. For us it was perfect and nicely priced.

Lovely hotel that is was converted from a family home. The proprietor, Claudio, is incredibly kind and quick with suggestions and even walked me around town when I first arrived to help me learn my way around. Only drawback is that the walls are somewhat thin so I could hear it every time someone made a caffè in the lobby.

We truly enjoyed our stay and the place hotel was in a very convenient area located near all the restaurants, shops and ports. We were very surprised that the unit we were in did not have a window, I know... who thinks to ask if the room has a window? There is no one there to ask questions and there was no laundry or breakfast available as stated on the website. These was a coffee machine, but it didn't work. All in all I would stay there again, but I think the website should better represent what's available.

This is not a \"hotel\" as you would usually think of one. It is more of a serviced apartment. We had to call a number to check in, and were lucky that the lady doing the cleaning was in the building to help us get checked in. The front desk is not really staffed as you might expect. The room was tiny as was the bathroom. No room to set up your toiletries.
The location is great! Only a half block to the main piazza, and easy to walk to most of Sorrento's main attractions, restaurants and shopping. Our stay was fine, but I probably would choose a more traditional hotel next time with more amenities and services.

La Magnolia Sorrento is well location near the center of Sorrento: 6 mins walk from the bus station, 1 mins from Piazza Tasso, next door to hotel is a little fresh grocery store of fruits, vegetables, breads and cheeses etc for snacks and breakfast items, a wine store, and a excellent pizza and pasta restaurant. 6-8 mins you can walk to Piazza Antonio and walk down to the ferry station or take a lift down.
It is also well located to many restaurants , shopping and little grocery stores.
The hotel room and washroom are spacious and clean. There is a coffee machine in the lobby for the guests to use. All the items listed on the website are accurate. The daily cleaning services was excellent.
Claudio provided us with information of where to eat good food. He is on point with following up on your enquiries and needs. He gave us the best concierge services of a 5 Star Hotel. He goes over and beyond your expectations.
His services makes your stay at Sorrento memorable and wanting to come back soon.

Excellent choice for Central Sorrento.

Claudio was our host and was very friendly and had lots of suggestions for things to do. He directed us to two fabulous family restaurants. One restaurant was very close. He walked with us and introduced us to the husband and wife team. We loved Stefanos playlist…which was heard in every room. We also loved the food and went back the next day. The hotel room was sufficient and clean. The entrance to the property is a large metal gate because this is also the family home. This small hotel has seven rooms and in a great location for walking most places. But if you need a ride, Taxi service is outside across the street. It was an excellent choice for us.

A must stay in Sorrento

The owner Claudio went out his way to make our stay the best, with great recommendations on restaurants, and due to a rail strike he helped with finding us alternative transportation to Naples so we wouldn’t miss our train to Rome. The location is perfect within the town center making everything an easy walk. The rooms are very clean with maid service every day.

Claudio’s property is situated in the most perfect spot for someone looking to experience Sorrento and the touristy activities accessible via Sorrento like the amalfi coast or even a Pompeii/vesuvius excursion.

Claudio also has many useful connections in the town which will help make your experience more personal and memorable.

The room itself was very comfortable with great AC. The furniture was all very nice and it felt extremely safe. The property is located behind a metal gate which adds to the feeling of safety. Sorrento as a whole feels very safe but the extra insurance in an unfamiliar place is welcome.

Claudio himself is an excellent host and a great conversationalist. He is not only an interesting person but he is very helpful and was available via WhatsApp for any questions or needs during my stay. Being able to have a “boots on the ground” connection when looking for the best breakfast or the best place for drinks is extremely useful.

Would definitely stay here again.

Proprietor Claudio made himself available whenever I had a question. He was kind enough to make multiple recommendations of places to eat, visit and see, even for other places in other cities; walked me to locations to ensure I found the right place; set up a last-minute tour that I wanted to do; and took time to talk with and get to know me. He not only has connections all across the city of Sorrento and beyond, but he genuinely cares about his guests having an exceptional time. Be aware that La Magnolia does not have some amenities like an elevator/lift for second-floor rooms or a breakfast, but there are plenty of places within a five-minute walk that do offer sit-down or takeaway service. Would absolutely stay again. The rooms are also very charming and classic.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Magnolia. Claudio was the most helpful and hospitable host we’ve ever had. He showed us around Piazza Tasso, which is a 30 second walk from the room, and introduced us to the owners of his favorite restaurant in Sorrento just an hour off our plane. (he let us shower and freshen up first.)
You should book this hotel based off Claudio and the location alone, but you can trust it will be clean and comfortable as well. It’s also a great price. Couldn’t recommend enough.

The best hotel we’ve ever stayed at! Room was clean and the check in process was easy but what made our stay so great was the host! We don’t usually get recommendations from our hotels but I’m so glad we did here. We got in super late and we were very hungry but didn’t know what was open so he called his favorite restaurant and let them know we were coming and they had everything set up when we got there. We also didn’t have any plans for a day trip to capri and he arranged everything for us with a boat captain and it ended up being our favorite part of our whole trip! Truly a great experience and the location was perfect!

A good place to stay, check in was smooth, the room itself was a bit old fashioned, a small complaint about the electric outlets- my electric adapter only worked in the bathroom. I would definitely recommend the place-good location, comfortable bed, overall positive experience!

Excellent location

We had a lovely stay at La Magnolia. It's located right in the centre of everything and it is only 5 minutes away from the train station. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, always there to help with all our needs- even printed out our train tickets and offered tours available for Capri and Amalfi coast. The room was clean and nice with a comfortable bed, we also had a daily housekeeping service. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and we will definitely be back. Highly recommended to couples and families.

Convenient for facilities in the town

Placed in the town centre this hotel is convenient for shops, restaurants and bars. Access to the hotel is through a locked outer gate for which you are provided a key at check-in. As there were no staff in attendance on our arrival, we had to rely on someone passing who knew the entry code and was able to let us in. The bedroom had only a dormer window, so there was no view and restricted natural lighting. The bathroom had no natural light and had only one small wall light. From our bedroom, the sound of guests in the neighbouring room using the toilet and shower, were clearly audible. There was a lot of traffic noise until the early hours of the morning and again from about 6am.

The room was nice and the location is very good (about 10 minutes from train station and 15 minutes from the port and also in the middle of tourist area with lots of restaurants and night activities. The hotel change towels after 3 days, which can be an issue if you are travelling with kids and if you visit some beaches.

When we arrived we were very disappointed with the rusty locked gates that gave the hotel a very run-down feeling. However once through the gates the place was lovely. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our keys were on the desk and the hotel owner could obviously see us on CCTV as he was giving us directions from there. It was a little bit strange to say the least. We did not see the hotel owner until the day we checked out. He was a very pleasant man, but it would have been nice to have seen him before then. As we had not seen anyone, we did not know that there was a lock release button to get out of the gates - it was quite a way from the gate and not marked as such. While my husband was having a siesta in the afternoon I felt I could not go out as he would have been \"locked in\". We were shown the lock release when we were checking out. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Sorrento.

Good location.. Not welcoming checkin experience

Very great location minutes from the center of Sorrento ..However checkin was not a good experience . We had booked in reservation thru hotels.com upon arrival for 3nights for 3 adults and one child . The person who checked us in gave us a difficult time stating he was unaware of child even in reservation clearly stated . Had to forward him email from reservation to prove information was correct . After him explaining system error he then stated he would check us in. Overall the checkin experience was not welcoming and I felt rather uncomfortable to stay but unfortunately all the hotels fully booked . The room was very clean however we ended up buying our own soap and toilet paper due to lack of. The hotel overall cute nice and rooms clean and good location however would not recommend due to my checkin experience

Nice hotel, good central location.

Overall we were happy with the hotel, good location, good size but I would suggest going room only, the breakfast is very disappointing.

Although the room advertises safe and fridge, when we got there the safe was broken and the fridge was half full with drinks for sale by the hotel.

Location, location, location

Visiting our daughter and celebrating a 26 year anniversary. Location is great, loved this small town. Shopping, food and drink all very nearby. Very clean, small and friendly. Fruit stand just outside the hotel! Visit Capri while you are here, worth it!

Week in Sorrento

Stayed for a week, it's small but kept really nice. The location is central but Sorrento isn't large so walking around is easy. There was noise from outside early in the morning but your just off a main road so to be expected. The air con was very noisy but we were fortunate that we didn't need to use it much - if we had I would have mentioned it. All in all a great little establishment and in a good location. Not sure the breakfast was worth 10euro.

Great Location Near Main Piazza

Convenient hotel in central location - The only thing we would hsve preferred is someone available at the front desk. We didn't see the front desk employee until it was time to check out after a 3 night stay. The shower in the bathroom had a slow drain. The room was small, which is typical of many European hotels. But, based on what we paid, we got an excellent value.

Small B&B one block from main square in Sorrento.

Clean and comfortable B&B in center of town. Near train station, harbor area, restaurants and shopping. The owner Carlo was warm and welcoming. A bit hard to find because it is located up a private gated street off the main square. Nice breakfast of coffee, bread,cereal,fruit and yogurt served on terrace each morning. Only 7 rooms so felt very intimate. Not fancy, but very comfortable and good value for the price. Would definately stay here again.

Our stay was great but the b and b was a let down booked breakfast they said it wasn't included wanted another 12 euros so didn't bother TV didn't work shower was blocked told us to phone 9 if we needed help with anything couldn't ever get through towels weren't to good either like tea towels

Great Location in Sorrento

Short walk to the town square

A small pleasant B&B hotel, which is literally a 30 second walk to the heart of Sorrento. Breakfast was basic, and eaten in the reception area at benches. Parking is in an undercover car park right next door, and is not cheap.

Stay somewhere else...many nice hotels in Sorrento

Pros: location near main plaza, clean rooms, reasonable price

Cons: room in disrepair (broken safe, phone could receive but not make calls, shower head broken), no reception staff to assist with activities or add layer of safety, breakfast not included in rate (despite being a bed & breakfast), expect to wait for owner to arrive for check-in

Great value plus central location

Just back from a 4 night stay at La Magnolia. Really great value for a central location like this - literally just off Piazza Tasso. Carlo and his team were really friendly. Loved having breakfast on our own little terrace outside our room when the weather was good - a bit cramped at the breakfast bar in the lobby when it rained.

Entrance is easy to find if you look for a green metal gate on the opposite side of the road from the Plaza Hotel.

Would definitely stay here again if we went back to Sorrento.

There was a hiccup with our reservation so by the time we arrived at the hotel, we couldnt stay there. However, the owner had tried to contact us prior, and had a taxi waiting and had placed another reservation at a nearby hotel so we could check in there. He also treated us to a free meal at his restaurant. So although we cannot evaluate the particular hotel, we can vouch for the attentiveness and the resolution of issues if these were to happen without spoiling your vacation.

Very central but as basic as it gets

Just spent a couple of nights here and it is ok and I mean ok, it is nothing to write home about. It's saving grace is location, right next to Tasso Square (Piazza Tasso).

We arrived to simply find a set of keys on a desk with my name on it, that's it, you make your own way from there but that's ok, 5 rooms can't be hard to find now can they?

It is clean and fit for purpose but that is all you can say, the air con unit was very noisy and interrupted sleep, bed etc is very basic and for me the worst thing is a safety aspect, the room has no windows except a Velux opening but not reachable and in the event of a fire you have nowhere to go.

All tiled floors make for very noisy footsteps in the early hours for early morning home comers and this will disturb your sleep if the air con doesn't.

Perfect spot

This was a great place to stay when using Sorrento as your home base. It is near the train station and port, and the square with all the restaurants, activities, etc. The rooms were very clean, air conditioning was a plus, and they even provided us with some simple plates and cutlery for some snacks we were eating. All in all, great location, clean, safe, friendly staff. Would recommend.
