I was lied to by the staff about the charges on my bill. Several staff and a manager claimed a third party charged my card for fees but my statement clearly indicates that the card was charged by the hotel. The manager assigned 7000 points to my account and said it was worth about $1000 and that was my compensation. Here's what Gemini estimates the value:

The setting and beauty of the Grand Hotel and its facilities, all kept in pristine condition, are notable. While this is a top-drawer property, the prices (especially for food and beverages) seemed a little high. I watched the groundskeepers immediately tidy all the outdoor games up after patrons were done playing. The attention to detail at this property is stunning. The staff were all so welcoming, helpful, and respectful to everyone at the property. I only live 5 miles away and still will pay to stay at this property. It certainly makes my family feel like we are in an exotic destination and not just a few minutes down the road from our own home. We will be back!

Wow! Beautiful and historic hotel in the most charming location. Beautiful beach area, excellent pool area with family pool and separate adult pool, good restaurant/food options, and very welcoming staff. Our room (in the Spa building) was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom. We didn't want to leave and we plan to return as soon as possible. The surrounding area of Fairhope and Point Clear exceeded our expectations- many great restaurant options and great shopping. The locals were king and helpful. This was the highlight of our summer!

For an older person whose sight isn't what it user to be, I found the room lighting too dim in which to read. I had planned on doing a good bit of reading but found I had to go outside to do so except in the late afternoon when the sun was on my side of the building. I understand the cost benefits of newer LED lighting, however. As a person who, unfortunately must eat gluten free (celiac disease) i sound the meal choices somewhat limited (as they are in most restaurants I frequent). The only dessert I found on all the menus I scoured, was the \"berry cobbler with ice cream' served in Bayside Grill. I was unable to get reservations in the Suthern Room before 8:15 PM which was a disappointment, almost as if I have to make earlier reservations before I arrive at the hotel. Otherwise my stay was excellent. Cannot say enough about the friendliness and graciousness of the staff--in every area.

We were there for July 4th. While watching fireworks over the bay we were instructed to leave the pier over the bay at 9 pm because some staff person said the pier closed at 9 !!!
