I was expecting much better based on the hotel’s reputation. Compared to other four-star hotels, this felt more like a well-known property in a small tourist town rather than a true four-star experience.

First, the front desk service was quite disappointing. The staff felt robotic and lacked warmth. As expected, early check-in was not available, but instead of clearly explaining it as a policy, the responses felt vague and somewhat insincere. The same issue came up when I asked to change to a higher-floor room—they initially said no rooms were available, which didn’t seem accurate, as they eventually assigned me one.

The room itself was not exceptionally clean. I noticed dust in the corners of the drawers, and even the gym area did not seem well maintained. The breakfast was also mediocre and did not meet the standard I would expect from a hotel in this category.

The view is definitely the highlight, but everything else feels average. Personally, I would rather stay at a smaller hotel with better service and simply visit scenic spots or restaurants for the view.

One of the biggest downsides was the lack of basic amenities. Toothbrush and toothpaste were not provided, which is surprising for a four-star hotel. The swimming pool also requires an additional fee, and even the laundry facilities are coin-operated.

If you’re coming from the US, or even comparing it to hotels in Seoul, it’s hard to see how this property qualifies as the “landmark” it advertises itself to be.

The staff were very nice and efficient. The hotel was very clean and well kept. The gym is wonderful! The hotel layout was well organized and made sense. The additional fees to use amenities, things being closed without warning, no in-room control of the AC, and wait times for elevators made it a very good stay instead of an excellent stay.

Found mini roach in room......

Found a mini cockroach near the curtains the minute i entered the room, assuming it got in from the balcony as i saw a few more crawling on the outside of the windows. Then i saw hair caught in the hair dryer when i was about to use it. Not to mention that the curtains were stained. Glad to see bedding very clean though and the ocean view from my room in the morning were probably the only upside of the stay.

We loved our stay here at Skybay Hotel! Our room was on the 14th floor overlooking the ocean and it was amazing! We will definitely try to stay here again, there was so much to do nearby and lots of restaurants/ cafes. 10/10 experience!

Definitely not a four stars hotel. Upon checking, noted bad urine odor from bathroom and also found some black mold growing inside bathroom walls. I let the front desk know about the problem but they didn’t seem to be too concerned, not even apologize from staff. Maybe it’s common issues? Anyway, I can’t recommend this hotel ($160 for a night) there are much cleaner hotels nearby.

A grand hotel with not so knowledgeable front desk clerk. I made a reservation for three, and the clerk was talking to me as if I made a reservation for two and brought an extra person at the last minute. She told me that \"this time we will let go but next time there will be an extra charge.\"
Anyway, the welcoming at the front desk didn’t go well as \"welcoming\" as it should be but I let it go.
Since we didn’t get to the hotel until much later, we called the front desk to get some guidance for a place to eat. She said that every thing in the hotel is closed so if we need to get food, we had to go outside of the hotel. Once I came downstairs to explore the area, there were places in the hotel lobby that served food.

I decided to try their dinner buffet following evening, located on the 20th floor of the hotel. I paid 120,000 korean won, about $110.00 per pserson. I was hoping to enjoy crab legs but was so disappointed with dry crab meat. Sashimi and sushi were good but galbee marinated beef were tough, and difficul to chew,
Shrimp were overcooked. Definitely not worth spending that kind of money.

Bad management experience

The hotel itself was fine but management was appalling. We never expected to receive a call from the police during our family trip for something so ridiculous. Apparently, someone’s car was scratched in the parking lot and they wanted to find the perpetrator. Fine. But hotel management called every car owner who exited the parking lot at the supposed “time of the crime” and we also got the call as well. We know we didn’t do it because all the family members were in the car and confirmed we didn’t bump into anyone and just in case we even checked the outside of the car to see if there were any scratches. None. What’s even funnier was that they don’t have security cameras in the parking garages so they have no evidence if the accident even happened in the garage but still called everyone. The craziest thing is that we even got a call from the police a couple days later. How and why did they even get our information?? We had called management before and clarified that we don’t believe it was our car and thought that was done with but the police call came and we even sent them a picture of our car. The whole situation seemed very pointless. I feel like the hotel could have managed the situation better and not send out our personal information without consent.

Satisfactory visit! Clean and new facilities with infinity pool access (comes with warm water in winter), in-building convenience store on top of the usual restaurants and cafes, and a skyview bar with amazing views and delicious cocktails. Comfortable room with in-suite iPad to order room service, ask for extra towels or water, and to do self checkout (very convenient). Easy access to the beach and a hugeeee lakeside park overseeing the beautiful mountain range. Close enough to the city. Parking was a little tight though, but manageable.

We came to Skybay with our Korean friend for a wonderful adventure. We opted for the lake view room, while our friends had the ocean view, both are spectacular. That night it was so cold, that we decided to stay in the hotel and had chicken and beer I the dining area, the chicken and beer were great, but it was sitting and chitchat with our friend, that’s priceless. This is a great hotel, but forewarn to book amenities in advance, like pool, sauna, breakfast, etc. these are not included with the room stay. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, we wish to thank the staff for courteous hospitality.

Pretty central location with the lake on one side and the beach on the other. Can walk to either side and explore. The hotel does have some wear & tear in the rooms but honestly, probably one of the better locations in Gangneung. The views from the top are amazing in the evening. You do need a car if you want to visit other spots like Cafe Alley (blocks with cafes across from the beach). Both the lakeside & the beachside have walking paths - highly recommend walking along the lake as well. Would stay there again if going back to Gangneung. Don’t forget your bathing suit - it is a bit pricey - but worth taking a dip at their infinity pool on the rooftop if on vacay and okay to splurge a bit on an “experience”.

Hotel itself was good. The staff could use a training session in friendliness and courtesy. The key card did not work for the elevator and had to come back to the front desk, but not even am apology. Pretty much every staff we came in contact with were curt and no smiles.

We love to walk so the area was perfect for a really nice lake or beach walk. We went in early October so the weather was good for walks. The lake view from our room really nice too.

The rooms were a little run down. Wallpaper was peeling off but the room was generally clean. They also don’t provide toothbrushes but there’s a vending machine that sells them if you didn’t bring one.

The location is beautiful and so are the common areas. I was located in the south tower facing the lake. The view was lovely, but you can hear loud noises from the room next door and halls. The furniture in the room was a bit worn, but everything was very clean.

I didn't swim in the pool, but I did enjoy the view. I originally paid for the entry as part of my package thinking I'd need to pay to even see the view, but that's not the case. Definitely recommend going up to lounge.

The hotel is also conveniently located near the tourist information office, so if you want to book a tourist taxi it's perfect for that. Overall it's worth booking.

객실 청소 상태가 다소 미흡했고 욕실 옷걸이 고리와 전원 콘센트가 덜렁거리는 등 시설 관리도 잘되고 있지는 않아 보였습니다만, 인피니티 풀이 상당히 커서 물놀이가 아닌 수영을 하기에 부족함이 없었던 점은 좋았습니다.

이용료를 지불하지 않고 무단으로 수영장을 이용하는 사람들이 제법 있어서, 이용료를 내고 놀던 내가 바보가 된 듯한 기분이 들었으나 얼마 후에 직원이 와서 손목에 팔찌가 없는 이용객들을 쫓아냈습니다.

우선 위치가 너무 bb. 앞으로 보면 경포호, 뒤로 보면 경포해변이라 여름에 와도 진짜 좋겠다고 생각함. 로비에 직원분들도 정말 친절하고 먼저 도와주시고, 호텔 조식도 맛있는 것들로 필요한 만큼 꽉 채워진 느낌! 조식 먹고 경포호나 해변쪽으로 산책나가면 진짜 기분 좋음 임산부라 수영장은 이용해보지 못했지만 이용고객들이 많았던 걸 보니 수영장 시설도 좋았던 것 같음 ㅎㅎ 아기데리고 와도 좋을 것 같다는 생각이 들어서 담번에 강릉에 온다면 두번 고민 안 하고 여기로 올 듯!

직원 서비스는 특별히 친절하다거나 불친절하다는 느낌 없이 무난한 평균 수준이었습니다.

이 호텔의 가장 큰 장점은 단연 **뷰**입니다. 객실과 피트니스 센터에서 바라보는 전망은 그야말로 예술적인 수준으로, 이것 하나만으로도 충분히 숙박 가치가 있다고 느꼈습니다. 피트니스 센터 역시 시설이 매우 잘 갖춰져 있어 만족스러웠습니다. 반면 사우나는 시설 수준이 동네 목욕탕 정도에 그쳐 아쉬움이 남았습니다.

객실 청결도는 전반적으로 양호했으나, 발코니 배수구 주변에 머리카락 등 오염이 심해 환상적인 뷰를 온전히 즐기기 어려웠습니다. 결국 커튼으로 일부를 가린 채 뷰를 감상해야 했는데, 발코니 청소에도 좀 더 신경 써 주셨으면 하는 바람입니다.

위치만큼은 정말 완벽합니다. 앞으로 나가면 바로 해변, 뒤쪽으로는 경포호수가 이어지는 최고의 입지입니다. 다만 낮 시간 내내 해변에서 공연이 진행되어 생각보다 소음이 있었던 점은 아쉬웠습니다.

주차 공간이 협소하여 체크인 시 주차부터 상당히 애를 먹었습니다. 이후 자리를 잃을까 우려되어 투숙 기간 내내 차를 빼지 못하고 이동 시마다 택시를 이용해야 했던 점은 불편했습니다. 주차 환경 개선이 시급해 보입니다.

아쉬운 점들이 몇 가지 있었음에도 불구하고, 압도적인 뷰와 훌륭한 입지 덕분에 재방문 의사는 있습니다.
