Location is fabulous. The Signature Chalet could use some updating. Is aesthetically pleasant, but needs some improvement to make it more eco and small children safe. Keep in mind you’re surrounded by a lush garden, so do expect bugs. The chalet needs some more thorough cleaning as certain parts were not fully as clean as they should be. The shower pressure is low and the pitch is incorrect, so the water tends to pool and you have to push it to the drain with your feet. The garden pool with the cascade is nice and the sound is soothing, but not very safe if you have children as the rocks are a bit jagged and sharp. The pool in the restaurant is worse as there were many sharp stones on the ledge.

They are pet friendly which is great.

The hotel staff is amazing!!! The restaurant staff could be friendlier.

This is one of the toughest reviews I’ve written, as we liked it very much, but it was not restful as 5 out of the 8 night we stayed, the music and partying at the chalets next to ours was unbearable even with earplugs. So keep that in mind.

And there were roaches and other bugs regularly since you are surrounded by vegetation. Not a deal breaker for us since we understand jungle like setting means bugs. The noise level was no good.

The aesthetics scream serenity, but no enforcement of their own house rules, made it not a peaceful escape.

Minor tweaks could easily make this property a 5 stars.

We absolutely loved our stay at Chalet Tropical! From the moment we arrived, the service was beyond exceptional—worthy of a 5-star hotel rating. Every detail was handled with care and genuine warmth.

Chalet #1 is incredibly spacious and creatively designed. It’s a feast for the senses—crafted with beautiful woodwork, unique rustic furniture, and thoughtful artistic touches in every corner. Just look at these pictures! Every space felt like a handcrafted masterpiece.

We especially loved having our own private pool, complete with a peaceful waterfall. Even though the water was cold, we still enjoyed every moment—the sound alone was pure tropical serenity.

Although we won’t be back ourselves, we’ve already shared this hidden gem with our friends and family so they too can enjoy this unforgettable experience. It’s truly a special place, full of charm, nature, and creativity. 🌿🌊

Breakfast was great and staff did a great job on making sure we were happy. Restaurant was ok, nothing great a bit pricy for the type of service. Other than that it was great, location was great to get out and go to las galeras or to go to other excursions.

This jungle hotel is a hidden gem. Our experience was beyond what we had imagined from check-in to check-out...beaches were walking distance & we were surrounded by so much beauty! Our chalet was perfect & very private with plenty of room for our party of 6. The staff was outstanding, very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was included & always delicious! Hoping to visit again in the near future..

Charming Chalet Tropical!

Loved the ambience. Breakfasts were delicious and served in such an appetizing and beautiful manner. Location great. Easy walk to the beach. Friendly staff. Charming and very different. Shower really cool --- water came out of a rock like a waterfall. And really good hot water. Would recommend if you are in the area!

Don’t stayed here - book the room last minute couldn’t get there - GPS couldn’t locate the place , after calling the number no one answer the call 📞 . The location is extremely extremely steep up in the hills extremely narrow . I did not locate the place after hours going up and down the hills .. no sign or directions near the zone area

Stay at this place for 3 nights and the first night there was a storm. The front of my bungalow was flooded and I informed the font desk the next day and they did not do anything until I spoke with one of the cleaning ladies. The power went off a couple of time the last night. It was pitch black and hot. Nobody came out to say anything or apologize for the inconvenience.

What a break…pineapple jelly with coconut bread, smoothies, coffee with milk (in bamboo), eggs, cheese, plantanos and ham!
Flowers in seashells topped the presentation! We had a choice to be served on the veranda or to have a floating tray in the waterfall pool.

This place has absolutely outdone any and all competition in my book!

If ever in Las Galeras, I highly recommend Chalet Tropical Bio-hotel! It will surpass any expectations and then some!

This is our third time staying here. We love it, for the peacefulness, and for the attentiveness of the owner and staff. We did have a few issues with water in our villa, but because of recent rains and flooding, it really wasn’t a big deal and when our water went out, we simply informed the staff and they took care of it. Some of the things in the kitchen area could be replaced. The greka was broken so it overflowed every time we made coffee, one of the drawers with all of the utensils was missing a handle, and the toaster oven was broken, but these were minor inconveniences to cooking. It will not deter us from continuing to return yearly. Everything else was perfect. This was the first time we stayed in the bigger villa and we brought friends. We had plenty of space for everyone and it was wonderfully fun and relaxing. They are currently building an on-site restaurant and large pool area in the front of the property so it will be even more beautiful and we are excited to return to see the improvements.

The family villa was gorgeous and well put together with its own pool. For some reason we did end up loosing power “region wide” which the hotel has no fault over for nearly 8 hrs. Pretty much all night. The wooden villa was not as hot compared to the brick one I heard about. Regardless, the very next morning I met the owner to which he treated us two complimentary breakfast which was very polite of him to do. He was there since the day prior which does show he cares for his clients and property which is also very well kept. Regardless of the power issue my family and I felt safe and secure and did not have any other issues.

The hotel is beautiful, excellent concept and the little chalets with their private pools, private garden with hammocks are a great convenience if you are looking for a serene, relaxing stay in a green - environmentally friendly location.
However, as great as our experience was and the beautiful property, there a few areas of improvement that ownership should take into consideration:
1- Bathroom privacy: the current design - layout doesn’t not allow for much privacy while showering. Anyone using the stairs or standing on the second floor has a clear view of anyone showering.
2- Mosquitoes: given the property is surrounded by beautiful greenery, there is a lot of mosquitoes on the premises and inside the chalets. Ownership should consider daily fumigation to mitigate the abundance of mosquitoes which can make a great experience a miserable one for those of us allergic to mosquitoes.

Other than these two items, I highly recommend the hotel and would welcome everyone to try it. I would definitely return.

The rustic chalet had air-conditioning and hot water, as well as a sense of being natural cottage. The food was very good and the chef pretty much cooked. Whatever you wanted to enjoy & service was right on.

I only wish that the private rock pool in front of the chalet and heated water. I’m sure that’s not a problem in the summer months.

We really loved this property and our three teenagers are already asking when we can return. That is amazing considering the lodge we stayed in did not have a TV! There was a little mix-up when we checked-in and were taken to the wrong lodge, but considering we arrived earlier than expected, it was no big deal and fixed. There was a small issue with the water going out (due to construction outside the facility) but by the time we returned from the beach it was fixed. The owner herself came to explain and she was just so apologetic. We brought some of our own food because there was a small fridge and gas burner plate. No oven. One of the burners didn’t work, but we were easily able to make do with one. The kitchen area had all the basics, so just bring hot pads and paper towels. There was no blender to make frozen treats, but we asked for one and they brought it right over. We ordered dinner one night: fried fish, shrimp, pasta and all of the dishes were beautiful and delicious. We loved having our own little dipping pool and we felt like we were in our own little tropical secluded paradise. The l bungalow itself was so pretty. We ate every meal on the big porch table and even our kids hung out in the hammocks and talked and listened to music. Just remember to pack bug spray because there are mosquitos! The beach is about a 10-minute walk away and it is breathtakingly beautiful. Very peaceful and little to no waves so we just floated around. Did not want to leave.

I like that is was a very private and pretty cabin, with everything you need to stay in such as a bathroom, kitchen, food processor, blender, coffee machine, hot water fully packed house, they offer really nice and cheap breakfast which they deliver with a beautiful presentation at the time you ask them to the day before. I did not like that the first room I stayed with my girlfriend was small and had a shared bathroom which had leaks that wasn't pleasant. We then were changed to an entire cabin just for us by the owner who is a very nice lady. We were really happy to be there and didn't want to leave.

This property is unique with a tropical theme. The staff was very friendly. We ordered breakfast every day and it was delicious. Beds were pretty comfy compared to other places in the DR. Good location; close to playita beach and restaurants. Safe and quiet. Downsides were we had stayed here before and breakfast was included but this time was not. Also, AC broke the second night and was not repaired but they gave us a fan to use. Definitely bring bug spray!

We loved staying here! I felt very relaxed and enjoyed waking up and walking around the space. Breakfast was outstanding! The environment, the detailed touch and the space were very unique-you can tell the owner really put thought into it. Thank you! I just wished we had shampoo in the bathroom. Also, our net was broken so we had an incident of a giant bug flying in the room and on my boyfriend's neck.. So maybe fix the nets for the future. :)

Way better than an All Inclusive Resort

This place was far better than an all inclusive resort we stayed in one day of our trip in La Romana! Chalet Tropical is in a beautiful and safe feeling area of North DR... away from the rat race of tourist, Vendors etc. A beautiful peaceful semi secluded beach was really close to walk too. They provide a wonderful breakfast and have an excellent cook on staff for dinner if you would like as well. It is beautiful, peaceful, and the staff was wonderful and friendly. The Chalet's are awesome! I recommend it to anyone who wants to have an awesome experience.

The staff was the best. They knew everything about the area and knew a lot of the people in the area personally. Everyone outside the hotel also knew and respected the staff there. The beautiful beach is about 10 minutes away walking. We were worried that there was no a/c, but we slept on the top floor with a fan and nice breeze coming through at night, so it was fine. There is no television, but there is free WiFi. The breakfast was included and made to order the night before and brought right to our porch every morning. The presentation was lovely and the food was great. The grounds are pretty and well kept with hammocks to relax in. This is like sleeping in a treehouse or camping in some sort of log cabin except that there is running, hot water with good pressure. If you don't like/can't stand bugs, it may be a little bit of a problem because their place is very much in tune with nature. Other than that, it was great.

We recently stayed at Chalet Tropical. It exceeded my expectations! It could not have been better in any way. the accommodations were unique and beautiful. Within 10 minutes of arriving we received fresh squeezed local fruit juice . The breakfasts were wonderful and delightfully decorated with flowers. Sarah the owner went above and beyond to help us plan our daily activities. The chalets are a 10 minute walk to the local town beach and from there can get a 15 minute boat ride to the remote beaches. If we ever make it back to the Dominican Republic I would like to stay here again.

You will Love this Hotel

This was a very surprising hotel, the chalet were in great shape and build with a surprising art knowledge. Love the interior and the wide space everywhere. The service (breakfast) was the best I got form a hotel, ever.
This is a very unique experience and I recommend this place 100%. You will love this place.

Fantastic chalets and wonderful staff!

Our stay at Chalet Tropical was an absolute pleasure.

We arrived having booked the day before, and by knowing very much about the area. Sara (the manager) and Darling were extremely accommodating; they recommended the must-sees of the area, places to eat and even helped us find a place to stay the following night as they were fully booked the upcoming nights and we had only booked the stay for one day (big mistake!)

The rooms and chalets are fantastic. We stayed in the top floor bedroom, which was spacious, clean and very comfortable! The chalet came
with a big communal kitchen, a large porch and many relaxing hammocks to lay in! The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly, and you are surrounded by nature. Breakfast was delicious and I was very surprised with the amount of choice that was on offer! (They even had a vegan and celiac breakfast option!)

If you are staying on the Samana peninsula, Chalet Tropical is a must see. Will be coming back here with a big group next time! Many thanks to the lovely and accommodating staff!

Very nice experience at Sarah's tropical escape...she works hard, is warm and enthusiastic and you feel like she's happy to have you. The rooms and chalets are very unique with unusual woody details... The breakfast's were hardy and she seems to have a knack for picking nice people to work for her. We'll be back!

Great B&B,10 minute walk from the beach & town

We read so many great reviews about Chalet Tropical, and the price was really excellent, so we decided to book through Expedia. We couldn't be happier. First of all, Sarah seemed like an instant friend rather than someone we had just met. We stayed at Taino, and everything was clean and beautiful. The breakfasts are gorgeous and delivered to your door. I loved the Dominican best, my husband loved Tropical, there were quite a few to choose from. Sarah was great at figuring out how we wanted to spend our time, and helped us figure out what we wanted to do daily. We had a car, so we drove to Playa Rincon one day, but just walked to Playita the other days. Sarah arranged for 6 of us at the Chalet to join a whale watching tour one of the days, and it was amazing, they also took us to Fronton for a couple of hours. The gorgeous grounds and guest houses are really unique, and it felt like a friendly community. We quickly learned that Sarah is well respected in the community of Las Galeras, everybody seems to know her. Chalet Tropical is about a 10 minute walk from Playita, and the same from town. We really appreciated the communication we received before we left for our trip with information that was helpful about what to pack and that we would want to bring bug spray, flashlights, and that we could expect to pay cash for most things. We found it very easy to get a cash advance at the bank in town when we ran low on cash. We also loved that Sarah provided beach towels. So memorable!
