The carpet wasn’t vacuumed and plenty of bugs were running around.
Stuff friendly and parking good. We didn’t have breakfast because we checked out immediately after sawing the accommodation.

A charming motel and surprisingly warm given how chilly the weather was and, as the property is old, some of the windows did not quite close properly.
Staying at the Hahndorf Old Mill Motel set the scene for a captivating town with so many shops and experiences to enjoy.

The room was incredibly run down & poorly maintained. Very mouldy shower, toilet was not clean, the room had a foul smell, hole in the bed head, overall room experience was far from good.
However, the downstairs area (bar/gaming area) were nice & there was good parking. The staff were also helpful.

Whilst it's sad to see so many areas \"offline\" and either waiting renovation or refurbishment, the staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful.
Great position, we will be back again :-)
PS - Bring back the live music & DJ's on Fridays & Saturdays.

Shower was amazing - water pressure was high and water nice and hot.
My only complaints would be that there were no power points any where near the bed (I had to unplug the tv to plus in the fan to use overnight, and had to charge phone on the other side of the room) - not the end of the told but still annoying - and that the window was not sealed, letting in cold air and noise

Really wouldn’t recommend staying here for the price. The room stank the whole time meaning we left the windows open (that were open on our arrival so clearly they knew) which then meant the traffic from 7am woke us. The kettle was full of mould, as was the fridge. The shower had a door taken out and stood inside the shower meaning we didn’t want to use it for fear of it slipping and breaking or the obvious spill of water to the surrounding area. And the spas on the advertised bath spa were not working and it was pretty dirty to begin with. 2 star property at best. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and would not expect the standard given here for the price paid and star rating.

Unfortunately the room wasn’t clean, spider web on the wall, glasses and cups grease, old and dirt carpet. I didn’t enjoy my stay and I don’t recommend.
Bathroom was a corta in, no privacy, and no TV on the bedroom.

I can’t believe they can rent out this room. There was damp mouldy carpet, cracks in the walls and baseboard was crumbling. Part of the building had sunk so the kitchen was downhill and the floor in the bedroom was very uneven (trip hazard) and the internal doors wouldn’t shut properly. The whole place felt unsafe and damp. On the first day a staff changed our towels and left our front door unlocked.
I would not stay here again.

I have been living in hotels for the past eight months and unfortunately I have to say that the spa tub in our room was the filthiest that I have ever seen. I complained to the person in reception and she inspected the tub and agreed with me. Unfortunately, the owners refused to adjust my bill to reflect this. I hate to complain, but this was just wrong.

No vanity cabinet, just a sink, no outdoor area outside the rooms where you could just sit and relax.

Staff are super friendly and our evening meal was lovely. Our room was away from the main hotel, had everything we needed, bed was comfortable. We thought it would be quiet. There was a band on a bit further up the street which we could hear, they finished at 11pm. It was Saturday night so we understood.

Room had zero soundproofing. Could hear the neighbors on either side, as well as the wedding going on all night behind us. The mini fridge made noise all night long as well.

The door had gaps all around it so we were concerned about pests coming through, as well as the cigarette smoke from our neighbors drifting under it.

Also the wifi did not reach our room so couldn’t even connect to it.

Please renovate these rooms! I’ve had better furniture in outback dongas. Bed comfy, water pressure in the shower fantastic, but the furniture was worn & damaged. The mirrors were crazed. I recognise the hotel is not overly expensive, but the torn carpet on the stairs, damaged laminate in the bathroom & peeling furniture was pretty tragic.

We were originally in the 2nd floor at the hotel. It desperately needs updated furniture and carpets and repairs and a good cleaning. We talked with front desk staff and she upgraded us at no charge for a room in the chalets. Although it was a significant improvement, updated and repaired furniture and carpets are needed there, along with a good cleaning! The female desk staff was very helpful and super nice or we probably wouldn’t have stayed. Not worth the cost.

The picture postcard impressions of this hotel are not even close to reality.
We booked two rooms and rejected our first offering as one had a broken window closer with no flyscreen, the second room just stank beyond belief. We were shown to an alternate room (two bedroom family room) and rejected that also. It had been used by a smoker (despite this being supposedly not permitted in the hotel) and the lingering smoke residue was not suitable for an asthmatic. The bathroom in this room was also a disgrace as the only place one could apply makeup was in the actual toilet which had bad lighting and zero bench/storage space. The bathroom had no mirrors at all and very bad light.
The staff moved us to a chalet which was acceptable but still not up to the value of the very expensive rooms we booked. Furnishings old and shabby, bed way too soft (old?) TV totally non functional.
As has been mentioned in other posts, this could be a nice hotel if the owners would just update and maintain it., But they are clearly more interested in their room full of gaming machines which was new, clean and obviously meticulously maintained.
This is not a good hotel. It is a pub (apparently the food is good but we never tried it) full of pokie machines with a few very badly maintained bedrooms attached. The staff were fantastic and did an excellent job trying to help us but the reality is that there are far better alternatives available at much cheaper prices.

I really enjoyed the size of the room and the tranquility and outlook to the garden. My meal was lovely and the bistro has 2 TV’s on different stations plus 3 billiard tables. Very enjoyable stay.

Rooms very neglect & not clean at all lights not working stains on walls & bedding, dust & dirt, bathroom fan very noisy needs maintenace, couldnt see reflection in mirrors from dust, carpet filthy & furniture broken particularly bedhead detached from wall, entire room extremely outdated, staff were very helpful apologised & understanding gave us a free meal, but nldidnt include drinks or side's or dessert. Rooms are nothing like what we saw on line when booking, we are not fussy & generally happy with basic as long as its clean we're happy but these rooms were far from that for the money we paid very disappointed, felt particularly sorry for the wonderful staff having to deal with this. Really would appreciated at least half our money back.

We have stayed at the Old Mill probably 10 or more times and stayed in a lot of their rooms. We had room 203 upstairs in the hotel. The Staff, meals, poker room, service was all great as usual but very very disappointed in our room. It was very tiny, ridiculously musty and pillow Smokey. No extra pillows, the tissue box had 3 tissues, the soap holder hadn’t been wiped down and coffee sachets etc hadn’t been topped up. The bedhead had unscrewed from the wall and was just dangling. Cupboard wasn’t near bed and couldn’t move it so had to put the one chair next to bed for the sleep apnia machine. Only one power point that was very hard to get to and lucky I had bought my power board with extension lead. The old Mill is a great venue in a great spot with fabulous parking but rooms absolutely need upgrading. I will make sure we never have this room again. The other upstairs rooms are larger and way better. I DID ASK WHEN I BOOKED THROUGHT HOTELS,COM IF I COULD GET AN UPGRADE IF AVAILABLE. They have another room upstairs with a spa in it which is a lot better and very roomy. We will stay again as love the venue and Satff are always lovely

Hahndorf is a pretty town and the Old Mill is nicely positioned close to an array of dining options and shops. Accessing our upstairs room was like being in Fawlty Towers but it is an old building so some quirkiness can be expected. Our room overlooked the street and was generally ok. But the shower door was broken and the shower arm was not strong enough to stay horizontal when the shower was turned on and slumped downwards. The bed is on the hard side.
We had dinner here and it was good.
